L2tp/ipsec VPN disconnecting after 5 seconds - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On tiamat 1.4.2 and hc3.1 but this problem has always happened. Using stock vpn to connect to Microsoft forefront threat management server vpn Which is l2tp ipsec. It connects fine but after 5 to 10 seconds it disconnects. No reason found in the vpn logs on the server! Tun.ko. looks fine. I'm stuck!
Any suggestions?

me too, with a linux server
I have the same problem. Only that I am running a linux server with xl2tpd and openswan.
If connect from my phone, it first takes a while (up to 2minutes), then suddenly there is a bunch of messages on the server, all consistent with a successful connection. At the same time, the phone says "connected". Then, after 2-10secs, The phone reports disconnection, and at the same time, on the server, I see a disconnect sequence.
I don't know if it matters, but I am working via WIFI through my home internet connection.
If I just use L2TP to connect (no IPSec), everything works. I also have a PPTP server installed, which works (but my android-phone does not support mppe encryption, so the VPN is not very useful to me).
Server:
Ubuntu 10.04 server
openswan
xl2tpd
Phone:
Samsung Galaxy S with Gingerbread (original Samsung firmware installed via Kies)
I am attaching a server log. The critical section appears to be this:
Jun 6 03:31:14 v3-1055 pppd[6683]: rcvd [LCP TermReq id=0x2 "User request"]
Jun 6 03:31:14 v3-1055 pppd[6683]: LCP terminated by peer (User request)
which seems to indicate that my pppd on the server believes that the phone wanted to quit... or did it?
Hope someone can help... thanks...

Android disconects
I have the same problem with an HTC Desire Z (stock ancroid 2.2) and a SonyEricsson X10 Mini Pro (stock 2.1).
The server is an OpenWRT router (OpenWRT is an embedded Linux) sith OpenSWAN and xl2tpd server.
The connection begins regularly but after some second is dropped by the phone.
During the time the connection remains up data flow regularly.
I would like to know what makes Android decide to drop the connection and how to make it keep the connection alive.
Anyone knows how to configure openswan/xl2tpd/pppd to mathc Android requirements?

As the title says, here is a ROM-DEV for developers who some of them have already released a test Ginger-Sense ROM from Desire S or an "not-so-official" one from Desire HD (Ace).
DON'T FLASH IT !, because of the size of the ROM which is too big for our Desire.
Indeed I didn't remove anything, it is a completely stock ROM and bellow what I just did to the ROM using the famous dsixda's kitchen:
Code:

Have you ever read the 1st post ?
This is just a dump for Devs, read the thread title next time
Well, if I say: DON'T FLASH IT, it means you can't flash it, that is all (and I already explained why).
Edit: Look at here

Nice job 。thank for shareing
I added the config file of the Desire S in the 3rd post even we don't have officially the kernel.

[Q] Android 2.2 pppd connection failing

Hi gurus,
maybe you can help me out.
I'm running a shell script to create a 3G connection using my 2 USB modems. One is the Huawei E220 the other is Huawei K3565.
The script works fine for the E220 but not for the K3565. Using the K3565 can't get DNS from the provider and connection aborts.
Please take a look.

Huge number error in log in every second

Hi,
recently I've noticed in radio buffer log by using alogcat app that the following errors repeat in every second.
01-28 22:33:59.867 E/RIL(s) ( 78): RX: (M)IPC_DISP_CMD (S)IPC_DISP_ICON_INFO (T)IPC_CMD_NOTI (len:0x0B mseq:0xFF aseq:0xC7) [ FF 03 00 05 ]
01-28 22:34:00.867 E/RIL(s) ( 78): RX: (M)IPC_DISP_CMD (S)IPC_DISP_ICON_INFO (T)IPC_CMD_NOTI (len:0x0B mseq:0xFF aseq:0xC7) [ FF 04 00 05 ]
01-28 22:34:08.261 E/RIL(s) ( 78): RX: (M)IPC_GPRS_CMD (S)IPC_GPRS_HSDPA_STATUS (T)IPC_CMD_NOTI (len:0x08 mseq:0xFF aseq:0xC7) [ 00 ]
01-28 22:34:08.277 E/RIL(s) ( 78): RX: (M)IPC_NET_CMD (S)IPC_NET_SERVING_NETWORK (T)IPC_CMD_RESP (len:0x12 mseq:0xFF aseq:0xC8) [ 02 02 04 32 31 36 30 31 23 0F 10 ]
It is since I upgraded to ICS. I remember that I hadn't any error in radio log under Gingerbread, but to make sure I checked it on my friend's Nexus S who is still on GB. He has no error in radio log.
Is it only my problem, or is it ICS' bug? Could anybody also check it with alogcat? Or does anybody know what is it?
Thanks!

There is no Nexus S owner with ICS on xda, who could check it?

They have android viruses? I've seen the antivirus program on Market, but thought it was a gimmick.
Nop no virus that work as u have experienced. Some fake prgms which google has removed already that collect ur personal info.
