Hi guys. We are the devs of Root Call Blocker, an app currently being tested on XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051274
We have had many issues with EVOs not blocking messages and need a couple of testers.
Please let me know by PM if youre interested in some hard-core testing
Is love to test this I'm using spc right now. Two things I will say up front: SPC has a feature that will pick up the call and hang it up instantly so the caller can't leave a voicemail. I've tried to get this working on aosp but to no avail. Every aosp rom I've tried just didn't support this feature. On the other hand it works flawless on all sense roms. I will pm about trying this out!
I pm'ed the OP, and I can say that this app is working on my device...using an AOSP ROM...Salvage-Mod, where others had failed.
Thanks for your letters, I'll be picking two testers later today, so watch your I boxes.
Nice looks good blockers are always good to have on stand by
I been using for a couple days now and since the latest update, it seems to be working now but the log never displays anything so I'm not too sure it's working.
Great app though. Now I can sleep!
We will look into it immediately. Are you saying the logs is not working?
So far, I'm seeing a log on my device.
In any case, we have fixed this and expect to push another bugfix in a few hours...
Maybe I'm doing something wrong here, but the app blocks all calls when in blacklist mode...even with a whitelist set. Any input?
Its not possible to set both black and white lists at the same time... its one or the other. Please explain your settings more exactly.
Okay, under Profiles (which I renamed to "Main"), I have the operating mode set to Black list. My Black list is set for Private and Unknown numbers...while my white list is set to numbers from contact book, numbers not from contact book, and unrecognized numbers.
My default blocking action for call blocking mode is set to reject and SMS set to don't block.
However, every number that calls me is blocked...even numbers in my contacts. So that's where I'm at right now. Do I even need a White list? Based on what numbers I want blocked? Does this info help?
As I said, each profile can operate in either black or white list mode only. .. that's why the first setting is Operating mode!
Choosing White list here will block all numbers that are not in your White list. I would have thought this would be obvious.
If on the other hand you have not updated to the latest version and this is a bug...

I understand how a call blocker app works...and I believe I have the latest version...just updated from the Market 0.9.9.6, right? With all other call blockers apps I've used, I've never had to create a white list...just a black list. But for some reason, your app blocks all numbers not matter what is defined in the black list. There is no way I can see to associate a blocking action that sticks to the black list, but doesn't affect the white list or numbers not defined in the either. That's what is going on with my device.
There has not been an option to pick 'private' and 'unknown' numbers individually since 0.9.9.5. ATM we are on 0.9.9.6.16.
Please try a clean install - clear data, uninstall, reboot, install again.
IMO, everyone is too used to iBlacklist, which did not use white lists. But white lists are a much more powerful tool in many respects, particularly in our interpretation. Less number crunching = faster operation, more stability, etc..
Hello everyone! We have rolled out a bugfix update with some new features, but would like to get some testing done. Please return to the app and have a go at testing!
Again, we have a new update, please let me know if outstanding issues are fixed!
Hi guys, any feedback on the latest version of the app? We are just about to release an update...
I'm using root call blocker and its working great for me....

Hello XDA,
I am one of the developers of the Asurion Mobile AddressBook and I would like to get some feedback on our product from the users here. I have been using this forum for some thine now for Winmo and respect the opinions of the developers here. It would be great to see what everyone thinks of the application. It is available in the Android Marketplace, just search Asurion. Or you can go to our site at http://www.getaddressbook.com/.
A little about AddressBook, it is a socially connected address book that allows you to get information about your contacts from different social sites like Facebook and Twitter right in the address book, through mini programs called Mixins.
Soon we will have an APK for developers to develop their own Mixins for AddressBook. When its ready I will post more information if anyone would like to beta for us.
AddressBook is still in a beta form and is available for 1.6 and 2.0 and above. Please try it out and let me know what you think. AddressBook is new and we are open to positive and negative feedback.
Thanks,
Peter
Just installed
Main app + all MixIn
It's a nice app, just a bit slow on my HTC Sapphire Magic Vodafone 32B with 2.1 Eclair Rom
I don't like "MixIn solution", why not a full app with all modules inside ?
I've launched main app, then I gone to market and installed Facebook MixIn for first.
After a lot of privacy authorization with some screen not well fitted I did a little war with Matching People, cause a lot of them were not matched nice.
I need Photos compare, cause I've some cases with two or more people with the exact name... like my cousins =)
I had some Facebook MixIn Force close Crashes and some com.google.process.gapps crashes too, right now...
I installed flickr and associate it with some of my contacts and no problems at all.
at last I tried Twitter and no probs with it...
I think it's a good app, but a bit slow...
last thing:
Support for all languages (I could translate it in Italian if you need)
I don't like number in this format 000-000-0000
or 00-000-0000
I know it's a developing app and I will wait for next releases of this.
Well Done
Good Job
This is some great feedback, thanks for taking the time to try it out and post back.
Just wondering
Is this ultimately going to be a paid application?
You know like:
5.99/mo
4.79/mo
1.99/mo
What's our deductible? :0
Haven't tried the app, but if you could spread the QR codes apart it will ease their reading.
Thanks for your app!
played with it 30mins.
1. got the main app
2. started a new a/c in www.getaddressbook.com
3. got the MixIn: Facebook
4. start the MixIn app, input Facebook a/c
5. click Allow buttons 3 times
6. MixIn starts to get contacts from FB
7. Auto Match
8. Manual adjust Auto Match results
9. Launch main app
The above steps took about 25mins (330 FB contacts; 300 gmail contacts; Auto Matched 180; manual picked out... haven't counted >_< i believe picked out 30 - 50).
Cool:
-Auto Match tried to best match FB | Local contacts even they are not perfect match.
e.g. Shirley Lam | Salei Lam (it matches)
-Facebook photos can replace local as well as sync. to Gmail Contacts
-Consolidated activities log (SMS, voice call, etc) for individual contact
Not:
-[MixIn: FB] Say you have some contacts named Peter Chan, you will get confused without some other hints like Organization.
I picked those contacts out in Auto Match to prevent mis-matching as Org is not displayed in Auto Match results
-[main app] Contact list won't remember the last viewed location.
I scrolled from top to Carol, click twice to view details, click Return and the contact list scrolls back to top.
-[main app] Slow. Maybe it's my outdated HTC Magic... (it's CyanogenMod 4.2.13 w/ EBI1 mod]
For me:
Keep and waiting for updates!
looks cool..will try this later when i get home for work..
speed is defiantely something that can be worked on.

No, the application will be free. And no deductible that I know of
It looks interesting but what you should definitely not miss is the T9 dialer. The way you can find contact by typing their name directly from the dialer is the only feature that makes me stay on 1.5. I tried other apps from the Market but nothing could match HTC's Sense UI dialer. If you can bring something clean similar to this I'm sold!
Another question for the community. Are there any features you are not seeing in the AddressBook that you would like to see, things that would make this app a must have?
Great work on the app. After using the app for a few days the main reason I stopped us using it was the user interface. Its not horrible but compared to everything else on the phone, it looks a bit outdated (quality wise). Other then the ui, it can be sluggish at times but nice work.

Darvo is absolutely correct. The T9 dialer is something that is sorely missing from most builds. I think it would especially appeal to stock users as well as those running cooked roms. I have been searching for a reliable answer to this outside of a Sense UI but haven't found anything that I'll stand by 100%.
Thank you .........
I appreciate your effort with AddressBook; however:
I find it extremely inappropriate and invasive that the app immediately syncs my contacts upon install to -- where? your servers?
There should be a clear warning that this is about to happen!
Please delete my data from your servers!
Also, the 'delete all' function on your site does not work, at least not with Safari. I 'moved' all to the 'delete' column on right, but clicking on 'delete selected' does nothing.
And with Chrome I couldn't even log in. Got some error about 'src' and try the support page.
I am sorry that app is frustrating you. There is a screen during setup that lets you know about the backup. This function can be turned off in the app. If you give me your user name I will delete your account from the database. The back up is meant to protect your contacts in the case that you loose your phone or get a new one. As for browser support, right now we are only supporting IE and Firefox. Again sorry the app is frustrating for you.
Great app!
I really like and appreciate this app. The 2 biggest features that drew me to waste countless hours playing w/ hero roms on my mytouch were hero's T9 dialer, and the social integration. I'll 3rd the motion for a T9 dialer in your app. No complaints otherwise. Bravo - and thanks for the great app.
P.S. Backup to server is a bit redundant in my opinion, because your contacts already sync w/ your Google acct - but, to each is own. I might be missing an advantage to it anyway. I just opted not to use it.
And props for soliciting feedback here in the forum - where the REAL users are.

Really? Because I can see in the options where to change the time and frequency of the sync, but I don't see how to disable syncing altogether. Maybe I'm just missing something?
Good catch, looks like there is a bug, you should be able to set it to not backup. We will work to get that fix in.
I have been playing around with the Hero, but I am not sure I have found the T9 dialer, what does it do?
Feedback
I've been following this app since it first arrived, and I must say bravo for doing what only HTC dared to attempt. It works well, too, except for a few things.
1. It may SEEM that scrolling smoothness isn't that important. Ask Apple, they'll tell you the truth: Its the only thing the masses give a Sh&% about, how something looks. So imitate the apple or hero contact style, because the one here is rough but needs only an easy fix! Smooth scrolling and better "sleek" colors. Same for the dialer.
2. It seems to run too often in the background, which slows my phone seemingly, no matter how often i taskiller it.
Eagerly awaiting the next release...
!!!If you have Android 2.1 the app now is in the market!!!
Android 2.2 and higher are also still supported
This is not another Auto Task Killer, no.
Thanks for all the help from everyone! We've moved into a lite and full version now on Android 2.2 and 2.3 phones. This is a new program which allows the user to specify alert levels to phone tasks and give you insight into what your phone is really doing. Make a call, ever wonder what apps may be listening? What's going on when you phone is in standby? In creating this, I will say that I've been surprised a few times at what is really going on. I want any and all feedback as well as we are trying to make this into something special. I am the actual developer of this app.
The full version has:
-Common Names and Actual Application Icons
-No Ads
-Access to all App Settings
-Ability to change alert level from List Tasks
-Removed Internet and Location Permissions
And we have a slew of other features planned for only the full version, but we don't want to spill the beans on those quite yet, but they will enhance the tool greatly!
Both versions now have the new UI as well.
Anyone who had the beta should be notified to upgrade to the lite version now.
Download Task Identifier Lite from your phone:
market://search?q=pname:com.task.identifier
Download Task Identifier Full from your phone:
market://search?q=pname:com.task.identifier.full
I've also attached a QR Code to scan for both versions. Or just search for Task Identifier in the market.
I hope you all find this useful and enjoy!!

Hehe, I like how the only comment for the app (5 stars and "awesome" as comment) is currently by a user named 'x2k'. Hmmm.
I've just installed it and it's been less than a minute and I got an alert from an app that no longer needs to sync...So I disabled it (every little bit of non-sync means longer battery life!).
So far it's looking very promising! I'll definitely report back on my experiences!
Okay, first big thing...
Can you please resolve the cryptic app names to their more friendly name variants?
It's hard to read and make out the com.blah designations.
Thanks!
So far it seems like a cool app. I've been using WatchDog for ages to alert me when an app misbehaves.
But I'm confused about this app. When would you want to be using this? Can you give an example?
I'll keep it installed and see how it goes. Thanks.

Thanks for trying. This is more of an app to alert you as to what your phone is doing, ie what loads at a given point in time on your phone.

Thanks. I'm playing around with it and actively trying to make notifications pop up I opened Facebook and Google Reader started, as did Maps. Weird.
Which brings me to a question: how do we know whether the task started was CAUSED by the current app I'm using, or Android just randomly started it?
For example, it's possible Facebook opened Maps in order to try to get my location, but I don't see the connection between Facebook and Google Reader. Which is why I ask if it's random, or the app I'm using is causing other tasks to run.

You're welcome.
Sounds like a great troubleshooting tool. Nice work!
I'm liking this app more and more. A few more comments and requests.
Comments
* I like the main app window. Large fonts, long-press to get quick-help or short press to go to the item. Nice
* Screen off app start notification, nice!
Requests
1. Possible to get more detail about why or how an app was triggered? Like, was it triggered by a service? another app? etc. And did the triggered app take any actions? Like sending network traffic or queried the GPS and such?
2. The 'Setup Alerts' window is hard to read through, could you maybe add color so all the status 'Green' items have the word 'Green' in green font and so on?
Just added a 5 star rating on Market, keep up the good work!

Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
First of all, thanks for a great app.
I really like the fact that it reports on tasks/processes started while the screen was off!
I have some suggestions though:
1: When I click the icon in the app list to open the menu, it just shows the "Starting monitor" message and nothing else. I have to open an app to get the message in the pull down bar and click on that to start the application it self.
2: On my Samsung Galaxy S i9000 the layout of the application is just a bit to long for a full screen. We are talking about 1 cm or something.
3: I would very much like a log, so that I can check back, what applications started during screen off, and at what time/date.
4: The way the Android memory management works, I guess it's normal for Android to start and application/process to memory by itself from time to time. Is it possible to show this somehow? For what is interesting here is when an application is launching another application or process, and not when Android memory management is putting an application in memory.
Thanks for your great work, I'm looking forward to further updates to the application!
Just saw this on the front page and thought it looked pretty interesting. Installed a few minutes ago, but so far I like it. Not too intrusive with the pop-up.
As Namuna posted though it would be nice to get more detail.
Also to have the actual app name rather than com.xxx.
Really good work.
Installed.
I like the idea that we can see what tasks are really doing in the background. But as noted by some above, the notifications are a bit cryptic at the moment.
After installing and running the app, I started updating some of my other apps in App Market and my phone crashed. This has not happened before and I seems from my layman eyes that too many things might have been running in the background.
When the phone restarted, it too forever for anything to be displayed and the 3 widgets I had on the homescreen refused to load up. Again it seems to me that this app is popping up too many notifications - I have now stopped the app from starting up and running on start up.
I don't know whether this is unique to me or not though. I am running the app on Samsung Galaxy S (international) on stock Froyo with LauncherPro.
Still, I like this app and will use it more. Keep up the great work and many thanks.
Edit : just checked app settings again, and although I explicit unchecked app running on phone startup, the box is checked again. I unchecked the box and pressed save again. Re-entered app settings and the box is checked again. Am I missing something?
This looks very interesting.. So it's installed and ready for testing
Thank you very much for that app, it's awesome. I agree with the recent posters that the name of the app in addition to the com.blah.blubb would be a great help to identify the task. Also I'd like to see a possibility for a logfile.
Keep up the good work!
EDIT: I can hardly read the small, dark font when setting task levels since I use almost the very darkest display settings to save battery. So being able to chose the font color would be great but has absolutely no priority. Again: great app!Using it all day long now and I am surprised what tasks are being started!
Hi,
Version 1.3 was released and also published on Android Market on 2011-07-03 - you can grab it here or from links below. The main change is fixing UpdateEntriesService which stayed running in certain cases and used up memory.
ZLaunchy was written mainly for those who like the way HTC and other third party dialers allows searching for contacts in a T9-like way - so that finding Adam means choosing 2326 in the phone application. ZLaunchy uses the same idea to run programs on your device. What it does is gives you a dialer keypad and when you type in a series of digits, it searches for all programs that match - for example to start Internet, start typing 4683 - Internet should show up in the result list.
In order to search for a particular text as beginning of words, type the specified digits - for example 4683 to find Internet. In order to search for specified letter(s) not only at beginning of words, add "1" at the end - for example 7371 will find Opera.
This application is free.
Changes in 1.3 release:
Fixed bug that caused UpdateEntriesService service not to stop after a successful update
This bug caused service to remain in memory and consume memory. Happened when "refresh items when inactive" was disabled/enabled.
Reworked logging mechanism
Reworked logging and cleaned up some of internals related to troubleshooting; should speed up the application a bit
Changes in 1.2 release:
Changes in contact handling to improve handling for certain devices
We have changed how ZLaunchy retrieves contacts, which should help support for some devices - users who had issues with contacts should try out the new version
Added option to always show menu when selecting a contact from list
It is now possible to choose whether ZLaunchy will open contact details or show a menu to select commonly used actions
As usual, you can download ZLaunchy from Android Market and our website.
Changes in 1.1 release:
Search in contacts' email address and telephone numbers and application's package name
QWERTY search for devices with physical keyboard
Ability to dial number
"0" button added on the on-screen keypad
Application details can now be shown on all Android versions
Preferences for global settings and profiles - you can now configure searching only for contacts, applications or both
Better APK install/uninstall integration
Download link: https://market.android.com/details?id=org.endorser.zlaunchy and http://www.endorser.org/en/downloads/android/zlaunchy
The idea is great, the app works well and faster then I expected 10/10

It does - searches both phone numbers and names. If you want to search for part of phone number (i.e. 6277 in +486277XXXXX) - just add 1 at the end.
great app! works fast, looks simplistic and clean, and definitely useful...
although i wonder where to find the 0... searching for numbers could get tricky without being able to type the zero.
and i couldn't figure out what the prev and next buttons do. since i have a desire s without any trackball i can just assume that's sort of a trackball-action, but in my case not functioning. any hint on that?

Initially it was only meant for searching apps - so I didn't think of 0. I also want it to allow dialing a number in 1.1 so 0 will be added for sure.
As for next/prev, it was meant to choose profiles (i.e. apps, contacts, specific folders, combination of these), but it's not done yet. So maybe it'll be changed to 0 and profiles button.

I have some force close like 20 seconds after searching for an app.
Otherwise I am very happy to find this program, I loved it in Wm!
Nice! Just what I've been looking for. I use Launchy on windows and linux and this is just perfect.
Oh and I have an idea for improvement:
Apps/Contacts launched more often should get an increased weight so they show up on top. Like when you type at least X % of the App name, but there are like 10 others that match the searchstring, the results should be sorted based on their weight.

I apologize. It was related to my android rom, not your software.
Very snappy program, I am highly impressed!
As a long time user of Find and Run Robot, I would be using ZLauncher all the time if you were to implement filtering by typing with the physical keyboard. That would make this an absoultely killer app for me. I totally understand if you prefer to keep this T9 only though
Oh and it doesn't seem to respect the fact that I disabled auto-rotate (Desire Z running CM7)

I am very stoked for this new release, it sounds like it'll be really great. Thank you for making this.
As for the feature KeauHou suggested, the previously-mentioned FARR implements this very well so you could take a look at the kind of algorithms it uses if you feel like it.

Example: if your block is 4567 then the phone number 555-123-4567 would be found. so would 34567,234567,123457,...,5551234567
* The GPS module has been rewritten and is MUCH more efficient and accurate at the same time.
* Geo-fencing has been added so now you can define regions on a map and set rules to alert you as to if the phone entered or left those regions during stated days and times.
Keep in mind that this feature is still beta. Try to give extra ~30 feet extra room just to be sure you don't get false positives. This will do a check on every GPS check-in time to see if you have entered or left defined areas. So accuracy is only going to be as accurate as check-in time periods. In general I recommend people don't ever alter the default 15 minutes however.
* The "discreet communications" option didn't make it into this release because of time constraints, but will be available in the next release. Time-estimates will be posted when available.

wonderful, just send an email request to the address on post 1
The first batch should be going out later tonight
Windows Mobile tester, subscribed. Email sent.
This sounds like a GREAT application!
I have a question though... Does your app NEED to have GPS enabled to track down your phone? If it does, what happens if you don't have GPS enabled? Is there a way to enable GPS remotely through the web interface?
Also, does it track the content of the sms messages? Or only the phone number?
Thanks in advance! I'm loving the features on your app already but just wish for a few questions to be answered
The app does not require GPS to be enabled. If no GPS is found, it will triangulate from cell towers. This method is not as accurate however.
I currently do not have a remote "enable gps" command, but I will look into that. It does sound like a great feature to add.
Email sent. Looking forward to a reply.
If people haven't received there downloads yet, check your spam folder.
I've been sending them out via BCC, that way everyone is not getting everyone else's email addresses.
The subject line will be "OVERVI3W - ALPHA TESTING"

Thanks chetstriker! This is the one thing that I feel that the other (2) apps I've tried have been missing. I won't name the apps since this is your thread and all but if you DO find a way to enable gps remotely, I think that you'd be ahead of your competition. Best of luck with your app
On the Atrix it force closes when selecting the enable button after entering my password, i tried several times.
On the Captivate (no sim) I was able to enable admin. I then went to the unfairwair website and "locate" showed the phones exact location. I also tried the "turn on ringer" and was given the responce "false" twice.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to take a deeper look at what could cause the Attrix to FC. For the Captivate however, It's normal to see "False" on the transaction tab. All commands have a completed status of False until the command has actually launched on the phone. This could take up to 5 minutes.
You would also have to refresh the web page to see the change of status.
<< important note >>>
The "goodies" tab (the one with all the controls.) runs great on all browsers EXCEPT IE7+
typically if you press commands such as "Lock Phone", "Send Message", "Wipe Phone", etc. they should pop-up commands to ask you for more information or confirmation. Internet Explorer version 7+ has javascript alert command and others disabled by default (unlike every other browser.)
You'll have to use any other browser to use these commands, until I re-write that part.
Just sent an email, looking forward to trying out your application!

What is this referring to?
Anyway, I've been testing for 3 straight hours and no bugs found so far. Just reporting in.

Good job mate!
Awaaz is a "plugin" for your Android phone that enables it to make direct phone-to-phone calls without using the cellular network if both phones have the application installed and are accessible over WiFi. It effectively makes all phone calls free, even while roaming!
There is no user signup, you never need to give any details, and you never even need to start the application (except for the first time). Awaaz runs in the background and automatically takes over any phone calls that meet its requirements. You just need to install and run it once, and you're done!
Awaaz is completely free.
FEATURES:
Establishes a direct P2P connection between the two phones. Capable of punching a hole through NAT, or being used on the same internal network.
Uses the Opus codec for unmatched voice clarity.
Uses just 8 KB/s of bandwidth (upstream and downstream combined).
Uses a hybrid cryptographic system to exchange a 256-bit AES key using 2048-bit RSA. New public and private keys are generated every single time, thus theoretically making decryption impossible.
Uses GCM (Google Cloud Messaging) for push messages thus eliminating the need to run a service in the background.
Has the ability to use 3G / 4G as well. Please enable the option in the preferences if you want it.
All calls are logged in your regular call history.
HOW TO USE:
Install and run it once. The app will register itself on the server.
There is no Step 2! From here on, when you make an outgoing call the app will automatically check if the other person also has it installed, and if both phones are connected to WiFi. If so, Awaaz will automatically take over the call and you will see a slightly different calling screen. The same is true for incoming calls.
If you have any trouble with an ongoing call, hit the "X" button on the bottom-left to terminate the app and make a regular call.
As of version 3.00, you can see which of your contacts are currently online by running the app.

FEEDBACK:
I am highly dependent on feedback from users like you! Please share your opinion here, and if you have any suggestions or complaints just let me know. Also, do mention which phones are at both ends of the conversation, since a lot of issues are handset specific.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Speakerphone is noisy. Echo cancellation is required and pending.

FAQ
1. It's not working! (outgoing or incoming calls are not getting routed over Awaaz)
There are multiple possibilities here. First and foremost, both phones must have the app installed. Second, both phones must be connected to WiFi, or 3G / 4G (if that has been enabled in the preferences). Also, check your phone number as mentioned in point 6 below.
2. I see a message "Callee is not on Awaaz", and then "Bypassing Awaaz".
This means that the person you are calling has Awaaz installed, but is currently not available on WiFi. Hence the app makes a regular outgoing call.
3. Voice is unclear.
Awaaz uses Opus, which is probably one of the best audio codecs currently available. Despite this, some phones may have issues with audio capturing. If this happens with you, please write an email to awaaz-feedback[at]jainanuj.com, and mention what phone is at the other end of the conversation (the one that is sending the unclear audio).
4. There is a persistent echo.
I am currently working on a AEC (acoustic echo canceler). Meanwhile, if you hear an echo it will help if the person at the other end of the conversation reduces the earpiece volume on their phone.
5. More info on the encryption?
Privacy is, and should be sacrosanct. Hence Awaaz deploys some very advanced encryption which should be unbreakable, unless some of the really wild conspiracy theories about the NSA are true! This does not create a very heavy burden on the CPU, but you can switch it off nevertheless if you so wish, either permanently through the app preferences, or through the encryption button while you are in a call. If you're really paranoid about eavesdropping, you should vocally confirm with the person you're speaking with that the app has displayed the same encryption hash on your screens.
It should be mentioned that by using Awaaz you won't be able to hide who you are talking to. Since it establishes a P2P connection, any agency sufficiently motivated can find out where the connection is terminating. Some metadata could also be gathered, like how long a conversation lasts. However, the encryption will ensure that what you said remains secret.
6. How do I change my phone number?
A common problem is that Awaaz picks up a wrong phone number. This can prevent it from working correctly. First, to check if it has the right number, open up the app preferences, scroll down to where it shows your phone number and see if it is correct. The phone number should be your complete number including the country code. For example, if you're in India and your number is 9810012345, then it should say 919810012345.
If the number shown is incorrect, please tap on it and a window will open up from where you can change it.
7. What is your privacy policy?
Since the architecture of Awaaz has been made with privacy in mind, it stores the absolute minimum data required. This basically means your phone number (for receiving calls), phone model (for debugging purposes) and your last IP address (of which no history is maintained). Nothing else is ever stored, including any and all information on calls made. From version 3, Awaaz "synchronizes" your contacts with its server, but this does not mean that your contacts are uploaded - instead, an MD5 hash of telephone numbers is stored. This means that we are unable to see any phone number of yours, but if somebody calls you on Awaaz we can hash their phone number to match to your contacts.
Quite a neat concept except for those us who have unlimited voice plans! Tried the app nevertheless, worked well.
Best of luck!
Very cool idea.
I'd like to see more secure encrypted apps. I'd like to try this out, but I've got to find another person to get the app first.
What is this app?
The calls goes directly through dialler, not even a toast message to indicate. I used the cellular data network. Uses lots of personal permissions

Xieon, chicken and egg situation! Try the app and see if you like it. Personally, I have it installed on my wife's phone as we often end up calling each other even when we're both home (it's kinda large)

My guess is that either the person you are calling does not have the app installed, or is not connected to WiFi.
Thanks for the feedback though. I'll put in small toasts to show what's happening as soon as you dial a number.
this is cool...ill try it out!!

Any possibility to make it compatible to gingerbread?
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk 2
Have you maintained a voip/gateway for p2p call?
The app sys u can make calls using 3G/4G networks..so the same can be done using 2G data plans as well??
Sent from my GT-I9001 using Tapatalk
I think it's provides good security for calls
what information are you taking from the device?

Sorry ammujee, the app uses a few ICS APIs, and thus cannot be run on gingerbread. Also, chances are that if your device runs gingerbread then it probably doesn't have enough CPU power to run this app.

Nope, there is no traditional gateway. It uses a completely custom protocol, and an intermediate server to set up the call.

Theoretically, yes. It uses very little bandwidth, so under ideal conditions you could run it over an EDGE network, for example. However, this is not something I would recommend. You will probably experience call drops, and / or bad voice quality.
Seems nice! Will try it out!
looks good, try it ASAP.

Absolutely bare minimum. Most apps of this nature will upload your entire contact list, but Awaaz does not. The only information that ever gets sent is your phone number (that would be an obvious requirement), and the phone number that you're calling. If you have any other specific concern, just ask!
