Something very strange happened. I received the OTA update for 3.1 on Friday morning and kept hitting Install Later since I was away all weekend and not near a comp in case something went wrong. This morning, I received the message again to update. Hit Install now, received the countdown to hit cancel before it reboots and goes into the update mode. Countdown completed then NOTHING happened. I manually shut the Xoom off and turned it back on - NUTHING!
I went into system update in settings and it says that the device is up to date. Weird?! Anyone know anything about this? Anyone know how to get the OTA update back?
I'm on the 3g Verizon Xoom using WiFi only (not paying for data). I know I can manually update, and I may do that....but isn't that strange?

Going into settings and date/time and take it off automatic and then set your date back a day. That worked for me.

A couple of days ago I went to check my e-mail and realized that my Windows Live Mail was just blank! I tried manually syncing and such, but nothing helped. At one point all the mail showed back up, but then promptly dissappeared again.
Today I realized there was a software update for the Q and I updated it. (Traded Qs a while back and maybe it didn't have MOL3, haven't looked closely to see what it is.) Anyway, this caused me to reload and I assumed a reload would fix WLM. I was wrong.
I don't know exactly version I'm using, but I picked it up from here a few months back and it's been working great until recently.
Is anyone else having trouble? What's the latest version proven to work on the Q? I may have to bug my Verizon rep to see if I can get a more current phone. Hmmm...guess we'll see. Thanks for any help!
Not sure if this is due to the app being a beta or if it's just my phone (I just bought it yesterday). When I open HTC Listen, it tells me I have to update the app before I can use it, if I hit OK, it just closes the app. I can't find any way to update it.
Is anyone else having this problem? I'm considering trying a factory reset, but I wanted to hit up the forum before I went that far.
I'm having this issue as well. I was prompted for an update from HTC Friday night involving the listen app, but elected not to do it as I was boarding a plane. I've tried checking for an update in settings but it tells me there is no update available.
Any help is appreciated.
I ended up doing a factory reset and shortly after doing that, the update for Listen popped up. Now the app works fine (poor selection of music aside).
I had it close on me the first time. Then, I clicked update (while still on wifi, I believe) and it closed too, but later when I launched the app, it worked fine.
Was offered and got this this morning. Ok so far, but now 'LinkedIn for HTC Sense' reliably force closes on sync or changing its sync settings. Anyone else seen this? Uninstalled now anyway.
I think I got it from the HTC Hub, but can't find it now - maybe they know and pulled it??
Have a separate question but still related to the post. I received a notification for this update this morning. Currently running stock HTC sense but s-off by alpharevx and have superuser access using gingerbreak. Will i lose both features if i do the system update as some other posts of earlier updates indicate that the hboot gets updated.
Just restarted phone because of weirdness again - used to have to do it every 3 days or so.
This time SMS notifications suddenly started auto-clearing a few secs after they arrived. Now works again. Missed I'd got an important one too, meanwhile. Really bad this phone is less reliable doing basic phone stuff than a £10 plastic 'txt and talk' alternative. Maybe I should swap for one of those. At least they allow me to txt and talk reliably, and the battery will last ages :-(
I think it'll be back to Blackberry as soon as I can. Over a year to go :-(
Anyway, got 10days 4hrs 39min 55sec out of it this time without a reboot or hard crash. A record

Happened again. SMS's appear in the message list as new IF I open the message list, but the notification behaviour breaks after some trigger yet to be discovered. Anyone else seeing this?
I'm not sure why, but my wifi icon shows that something is always downloading. Is there a way to stop it? I don't really want to factory reset.
Also, is there a way to find out what it is?
I'm using LBE security app [the latest xda version] and it doesn't show any activity.
It does show other apps when the download and upload arrows are lit.... but the download is always on even if i'm not using anything.
might be a push email account or a sync account
i just had the 4.1.2 update pushed
to my tablet last night. I haven't rooted my device though. then once it kept trying to push it OTA but wouldn't i plugged into my computer and cranked up Kies and it fully downloaded it and installing now! Maybe that's might help...? I hope. Have a good one.
Today i faced a problem where i went to the play store and went to my apps and all of the apps were up to date. I rebooted my phone and ''Youtube'' was being updated.
Why did it update after reboot instead of when i went to ''My apps'' in the playstore and everything was up-to-date ?
its normal.
it might of not been available for your phone the first time you checked. when apps are updated, not everyone gets the update right away. your neighbor might see an update for that app while you get the update hours later.
it's normal. That's happened to me pre-nexus 5..might be an availability thing or just need to refresh the connection to tip off the fact that you need the update.
I usually restart my phone at least two times a day just to keep the system running smoothly and make sure apps close out so it's no biggie to me
