Is there a way to back up those cache tiles? Could be useful for me when switching roms.
If I remember correctly theyre located in the /data directory... You could back that folder up with Root Explorer but I dunno if restoring it would work.

Hi I have an file with .apk extension and it's data folder (I don't have dalvik cache file, but I supose it will be made after running my app). How can I restore my app to previuos state? I tried pushing apk file and data folder to their directories (/data/app and /data/data) and setting permissions to 777, but it didn't work.
I restarted my app and everything is fine. Sorry for posting. Next time I will take my time before asking.
I just lost one off my app's data (settings, etc, ...) and I'd like to try undeleting them. I know they were in the /data/data folder.
I found some file recovery apps on the store but it seems like they only scan the /sdcard/ folder.
I looked into mounting the sdcard on my PC and running a recovery software there, but mounting the root folder doesn't seem possible.
Any idea that might make this possible?
hi, im having problems deleting a folder in my internal storage.
my phone is Lenovo A328, stock rom, rooted, and running on kitkat.
i didn't do any tweaking on my phone besides rooting.
i noticed while browsing my internal folders, in Android/data there is a folder named "com.com2us.soulcollector.normal...." 16.74mb in size.
it's from the game soul seeker, and i've already uninstalled the game, i tried to delete it but cant be deleted.
here's what ive done so far:
-i used other browsing apps like root explorer and root browser
-renamed the folder and delete, but can't
-moved the folder to other location in internal (cant move to external), still cant delete
-downloaded the game again and made sure the folder name and location is the same. then uninstalled the game, still the folder is there.
-edit the permission but cant.
-reboot device
-clean junk files using clean master
i dont want to restore or reformat my device. its a pain trying to download and reinstall again all my apps.
please help!

Try remounting /data as RW.
So, if you're using ES Explorer, open menu, inside Tools, click on Root Explorer.
Then click Mount R/W. And mount all partitions as RW.
This may help

Afternoon from Vegas!
I've been poking arudn and trying to find out, why do I randomly get told I'm out of space for apps, I'm not allowed to install more even though all my partitions have space
Well anyone remembering my thread about some dirty flashing causing partition and file permission issues, you likely know of my explanation. But some o us had this happen when the changed Roms too. It's really odd. So I did some digging today and found this
In /data/data/com.Android.providers.downloads/cache is where apps are being downloaded too but my folder was 4GB!!!. It had hundreds of files that appear to be where it downloads the apps. But when I tried to clear it normally it didn't work. However deleting them by hand proved to work via root.
So essentially if you have plenty of space in Android and can't install apps, check the folder /data/data/com.Android.providers.downloads/cache and see what you find. Maybe me and @CVertigo1 can make another fix for this.
THIS MAY APPLY TO OTHER DEVICES AS WELL BUT I ONLY DISCOVERED HIS ON THE VZW GS5 Release Model.
This is interesting. I'm going to have to look into this.
I verified over a gig in this directory, and clearing the app cache through settings took care of it. You don't need to manually clear it with a file explorer. Go into settings, storage, internal storage, then tap cached data. This will clear the app cache. I suppose the app data cache is untouched when clearing the system cache. I always clear the system cache through recovery then data cache through settings.
I've always used Samsung devices (last device was GS5) so I'm trying to understand the internal partitions on newer versions of android. I don't mean the dual slot stuff either.. just the normal partitions like /system
So with my GS5 of I went into TWRP and factory reset. That wiped all user data from the phone. Apps, settings, downloads, pics, etc..
It seems that's not how it works anymore. Just looking for a basic layout of the folder structure and what is stored on each partition
Where is my user data stored? Are my downloaded apps, settings, pics, downloads (everything I put on the phone) stored in one partition? If so where
When I factory reset in recovery what partitions is that wiping
At this point the only thing I know is /system which is where the actual OS itself is stored.
Any explanation would be appreciated!!

/data
/data/app

/data/media...
You can see all these folders and what they contain via something like Root Explorer. Then install an app or modify its settings, you'll easily see its date/time properties get changed.
Or you can use ES Explorer, every time a new folder gets created, ES notifies you. After a while, it gets annoying but it's good to be able to observe in the beginning.
