The Froyo to Gingerbread wait...

Seeing the GB roms available before the actual update by carrier...is it worth getting it now or should I wait until whenever for the official update? I'm enjoying the custom froyo roms but lerry if trying the gb roms now.

I'm personally waiting... When I got my sgs4g there was nothing now I love the phone.
Considering the improvements with froyo roms over stock I think it's in my best interest to wait for the developers to improve the stock gb rom.

I'm on the odexed kg4 leak with drhonk's red cwm+ext4+root kernel, and I *love* it. OC'd to 1.3GHz, I Quad 2850 or so. Gingerbread is light-years ahead of froyo. Only issue I've personally encountered is outgoing wifi calling volume is inaudibly quiet, and that's not a dealbreaker as I stopped using Wifi calling when I started using Bali kernels.
If you're thinking about it, I say go for it

I felt the same way and held off. Took the plunge - Installed the samfirmware 2.3.4 leak via odin and Drhonk's GB CWM+Voodoo a couple of nights ago (could not get it into recovery using whitehawkx version). Phone is awesome...no rainbow boot screens, no FC's...just plain awesome. Everything works...came from Black Ice with Bali 3.3UV and all of the tweaks and will not be going back.
It's a personal choice though, the only thing I am currently missing is the voodoo sound I had with Bali 3.3UV. Small price to pay IMO.

Unless I missed something the Kernel doesn't support it. I have the voodoo control app installed and lagfix enabled, but it says that the kernel does not support the sound mods.
The other thing i miss is the black ice "system shutdown" audio. That never got old.

Extract the shutdown.ogg from blackice in system/media/audio/ui. Use a pc to convert it to a .Wav then place it in system/media/audio/ui make sure it is called shutdown.Wav for gingerbread to work right.

I got tired of waiting for the upgrade. It's one thing to wait for an upgrade and it's another to get zero dates and information. I decided to use SamFirmware's latest, and to put it simply, I love it so much better than Froyo. In fact, the only thing bothering me is the website scroll on the stock browser. With Froyo, I could swipe upwards a few times and it would quickly take me to the top of the page. For some reason, with Gingerbread, a swipe appears to move me up the screen by some fixed intervals. This extra 3-5 second inconvenience is very tolerable.

I agree with Jay on this topic. GingerBread is amazing, with the major downside being horribly quiet WiFi calling. Unfortunately with as often as my phone is WiFi connected and how much I use it for work, I'm sticking with Froyo for now. Other than that, if you're comfortable with flashing it, there really is no reason to wait.

be sure to thank the devs for their hard work. froyo at this point in time is much more customizable than gb, but its only a matter of time before our devs crack it.

Donate if possible also! The devs put a lot of their time and effort these ROMS.

This won't work. Shutdown uses a qmg now like the boot animations. There's a crt shutdown animation floating around these forums somewhere

raver... can u help my phone run the GB camera which allows front video camera recording.. btw im running trigger 0.4.. i dont want to go back to GB coz im experiencing tons of problems there.. ill stick with froyo forever.. tnxx ravverr!! more power to ur team..

decompile the apk and then you need to rebuild some of the dependancies based off the gb rom to run on non gb like the classes dex file also need to edit the jar then repack it sign it should be ok from there

omg.. being a super noob, i only understand 5% of those info.. =). hmmmm.. can i just move a GB camera apk to system/app ?

(THEME) Red InFuZioN for GB

Here is a theme i have bein working on slight port from my DeadRed theme. I will not be working on a Blue One ee23hd2 allready has one in progress im puting my time into making this complete.
Coming soon: Themed dialer/Contacts/sms please be patient still kinda a noob at this
Directions:
1: Back up current rom
2: Download zip from link
3: Save zip to sd card "I use the download folder to save mine to"
4: Reboot into Recovery
5: Wipe dalvik cache "Optional, First load may be slow"
6: Install from file from sd card "Were ever you stored it.
7: Reboot and there you go
Warning:
I am in no way responsable for anything.that happens to your phone in this process. I will be testing each update before i upload a new link.

Just a heads up. After i flashed your bluefuzion theme while on infused v2.0.5 i lost my hpsda(4g) and it went to 3g. I restored my back up and my 4g network came back. Not sure if it is just me or if any one else has experienced same problem. I love the theme but i like my 4g speed a little more. If there is a fix i would greatly appreciate it if you could look into it. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Ok so thanks to jordan i think i have a answer. We dont technicaly have 4g yet some of the icons in the roms have bein changed to say 4g but if ur icons comes up saying 4g hit *#0011# and it should say 3g because there isnt true 4g yet. I can definitly change the icons if u would like and post a new link

Thanks for the clarification. There is no need to change the icon. The icon didnt bother me it was more the fact i thought i was lost my 4g network which apparently i never had. Thanks for the response

Just a heads up... Im using Infused 2.0.4 and when i apply your theme i lose the ability to use some of the settings menu. The two i can think of off the top of my head are "mobile network" in "wireless and network" menu, and also the 4g menu. Just says something about android settings and then gives you a tab that force closes it.

LG I have to say I am not a real big fan of the Red themes...But I think you have a winner here that I might just have to try out and use! I just read a couple post up, and apparently thats a known issue. I dont think he has posted a revert, and I think hes been having issues with his computer, so... the only way to get back to the stock infused theme is to reflash the rom.

i was smart and backed it up in rom manager and just reverted back with the backup i made. im trying reddead v2 right now. i really need you to make one.....

Right now - probably SensatioN 2 by Crysis, simply because that is the one LB is testing with. There's a link from one of LB's posts in the Hellraiser thread.

I put sensation on last night and is not bad I like the theme and its pretty fast but I have issues with network dropping very easily without moving and wifi does the same. I feel like the lock screen is kind of buggy too. Idle if that's just me or what? I do

With Hellraiser beta5, any of them should. Mobile AP was one of the kernel fixes in beta5.

No it doesn't, ROMs is derived from the Rogers Gingerbread release

No. If you want HDMI, you need to either run a Froyo ROM or wait until after AT&T releases Gingerbread - going to take at least 1-2 weeks after that IMO, maybe longer.

+1 for Apex. Only been running it for 30 minutes but data works great.

I've been running mosaic vi all day now and all I can say is wow. I loved mosaic when I had my captivate, followed it from mosaic one all the way to 5, then handed it off to my dad when I got my infuse. After installing mosaic 6 on my infuse today, I played with it side by side with my dads captivate, also on mosaic 6, and our phone blows the captivate out of the water. I haven't seen a single hint of lag whatsoever.
If you try mosaic, which I highly suggest you do, don't worry about the fix for mosaic 6 posted in the op of the mosaic thread...couldn't get it to work properly, and the rom works fine without it. Also, you can use all of the themes they have for mosaic, just make sure you flash hellraiser again after you flash any theme. I installed the erebos theme and my phone looks slick as hell. Love having themed swype keyboards again.

No H+ icon, as it's a captivate rom and the captivate doesn't have H+. It does have the H icon however, and my speeds seem to be on par with what I was seeing on actual infuse roms. As for the mobile ap, not sure, haven't tried it yet, but wasn't hellraiser 6 supposed to fix that issue?
Edit*** You had me curious, so I checked on both things. I pulled a 3.3 mbps down, 1.3 up, which is about the fastest I have seen in my area. When I was on my captivate and on only hspa, not hspa+, I could only pull like 1.5 to 2 down, so H+ is still working even though the icon doesnt show. Also, I tethered my laptop using mobile ap to edit this post, so it is in fact working, just make sure you use hellraiser 6

I've been running Mosaic since last evening with a modded version of Hellraiser beta4 (with my kernel, which basically makes it beta5). So far it's nice - I may likely return after trying 1-2 ROMs for debugging/testing purposes.

Which FROYO ROM does the HDMI output work on?

The best ROM for my mom

My mom just got an Infuse 4G last night. She's unhappy with the stock ROM (rather, she's not liking it). Realistically I am using this opportunity to break the woman into smartphones, and the Infuse 4G is a great one with a screen that she can read (I love the look of that AMOLED, it's making me want a Samsung when it's time to upgrade).
The question is, which ROM is the most user-friendly? If you read my sig you'll see I have an Atrix 4G myself and am currently running an Alpha ROM so you'll know I am no stranger to the mod community. I just don't want to go from ROM to ROM to ROM showing her each one, wasting my entire day reflashing her phone. If anyone can come up with one or two suggestions for me to try for her, I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm looking for something ICS-like, smooth as butter, and not over-the-top like some of the Atrix guys like to go. Thanks for your help!

Imho, find out what she wants out of the phone and tweak it with apps. Stick with stock froyo and avoid the grief.
Ex. Big text battery indicator to show battery. Business calendar is better than stock. Go launcher is better than stock. Show her how to put direct dial shortcut on the screen etc...show her the widgets.
Leave the rom alone because everything works.
From my experience, it's the app and how to use the phone...not the ROM

For better battery life, odin flash one of the stock gingerbread leaks and leave it. KK4 leak would be OK. KL2 is better but tw30 is messed up on it. I like the stock froyo but the battery life sucks.

But bt doesn't work properly on aosp roms (cm7 and miui) if your mom needs simple and stable...infused 2.2.3 or s7....I would recommend one of mine but mine have alot of add one and tweaks and are really for advanced users...like I said infused 2.2.3 or S7....everything works and stable and simple..

See I'm attempting to throw CatyRom on it, the ICS app tray is really what I'm after. Something like that would keep it simple for her to find things without having to go through the app drawer which is what has overloaded her in the past. She absolutely refuses to use an iPhone because of this.

Catyrom is good...don't get me wrong. .just know what your doing when flashing is all bro...and thanks for choosing caty

Hah. I thought this thread was a joke when I read the subject line.
Well at this point it we have a handful of really good stable, infuse based roms. So it's all about what color she wants really lol.
Have her take a look at the screenshots for : Zeus, Caty, Bionix, Numas, Victory rom, or infused(old one but a goodie). And pick which one is astheticaly pleasing to her.

Nah, no joke. I made some modifications that allow single-touch activation of apps/tools but other than that she seems happy with Caty. She's a blue person, so it worked in my favor.
It seems odd that someone who has had no experience with smartphones minus playing with someone's iPhone and hating it would want to jump head-long into the ROM world but she's seen the difference it made in my phone. ICS on my Atrix is great, and I am hoping that one day you guys get it running on the Infuse, it seems like a good phone and you folks seem like an intelligent bunch.

Zeus (gb rom).
Plus:
Bluetooth and wifi are working good. Good battery. GPS is good.
Minus (common to ALL gb roms):
HDMI out does not work

Don't Update Your Phone to Stock UCLB3 Not Worth It! (Info Inside)

I've been working around with this Firmware for awhile. As much as I love Stock I just don't love the Stock At&t offers. Here's things I notice to be a problem: STOCK: UCLB3 (Not to be used as a Daily Driver) F*** You Samsung for this!
1. Facebook App - Scrolling comes Unresponsive, Laggy Scroll, Sometimes don't scroll at all.
2. Temple Run Game - Lags, Touchscreen unresponsive trying to do jumps and turns.
3. Instagram - Slight scrolling lag will occur.
4. Netflix - Scrolling can become Unresponsive, Scroll lag
5. Gallery - The most laggiest piece of **** Gallery I've ever seen on this phone. Quickpic solves this, but WTF!
I can make a whole list of daily apps, But just the newer apps that we may want we can't use for these reasons. Came to conclusion Firmware and Touchscreen Firmware is completely Boinked. I still lose Wireless connection leaving me to believe ULCB3 modem is boinked as well. UCKL2 modem gave full Wireless Bars and never dropped. I don't think Samsung will ever fix this...... I'm not here to complain, I'm here to give others an insight of what to expect using Stock UCLB3. And Stock UCLB3 is useless without Root!
For those who hate custom roms, Try finding a rom as close to stock to meet your needs that's all tweaked out and allows root, At&t and Samsung will never Deliver the goodies devs do here. Those worrying about Warranty issues rooting their phones. I returned my phone back to stock before sending my broken phone back, The flash count read 1 count but goes away with GTG Ultimate Unbrick. We don't have to worry about jigs and etc and erasing flash counts like the SGS 2. As long as you flash it back to stock, Superuser and all rooting will be gone.

Touchscreen bug is there for everyone not just myself, I hear others on both At&t forums and Facebook complaining of touchscreen unresponsiveness, and Scroll lag. I wouldn't be shocked if they pull the update......It wasn't officially announced! Don't get me wrong The overall Scrolling on UCLB3 is fine, Scrolling isn't playing nice with these apps. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my phone. And a youtube video below that I made goes to show you just how the scrolling should be on this phone......But that rom is pretty dead. I had been on the leaked lb3 since it came out because i was just tired of flashing roms and just stuck with it. I flashed the deodexed version of lb3 a couple of nights ago and it is a hell of a lot better than the leak. Its snappier and more responsive. Its not just your phone. This firmware sucks. It's incomplete.

Same problems here ... also the screen lock issue where it shows what you were doing for a split second before the pattern lock comes on ...

I'm sorry but I will never buy a Samsung again, this is awful. Do they even test it before release? I know the infuse is not a flagship phone but come on! We can't even get a solid version of GB which was released over a year ago! Wtf have you been doing all this time Samsung!?! Same goes as well for the SG1 .. or is it because you release a new verision of the same phone everyday!? Just give us vanilla GB .. i upgraded and can't root :| it stuck at #7

I can also confirm wifi is dead .. Pandora, iheart, slacker, YouTube will play for a while then randomly get a no Conn error .. this has also been tried on 2-3 networks ... I also today did a hard reset .. no problems fixed

My wife has unrooted UCLB3 on her Infuse (which replaced her SOD-plagued Captivate), and she hasn't had any complaints about it (aside from the phone being "too big")
Granted, she doesn't even have a data plan, and only uses wifi for Internet, so maybe that might play into it. ?

Seen update, the day after i loaded Z-TR. Like any custom rom you can run into lil issues however ZEUS seems to me to run FAR better than the crap AT&T has put togather not 1 time but 3 times in a row!!!

i thought hdmi out didnt work with uclb3 either.

im so tired of going back and forth, i just want my phone to run smoothly. I had zeus, but i kept getting the SOD now I just upgraded to this and now my screen is unresponsive I can't wait for an upgrade

Maybe you just need to reinstall..you can use this method...if you want to stay stock...
