At least use Google before posting questions...or read the page on HTC own website http://www.htc.com/uk/product/desires/overview.html
I just googled "compare htc desire v htc desire s" and my first hit was this:
http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/htc-desire-s-vs-htc-desire-whats-the-difference-50002925/

this is a silly question...
1) your asking in the desire s forum so you already expect the answer
2) why would you favor a old deisre in favor for the new one which fixed all the old ones faults..

Actually, there are two ways to look at it:
If you are a user, who wants functionality etc...go for desire S (also a little more pricy)
But if you are a app/ROM developer, I'd go for the good ol' desire as it is much more supported... (also little cheaper)
I don't wanna sound negative after only a week of owning the phone, but I'm starting to think Desire S is going to be a little like Legend - Not as big leap forward from it's predecessor with not as many users/devs...
There are gazilions of Desire users, but how many Desire S users do you know other than here? Just sayin'

actually you have a very good point... i really hope that will not be the case though.. hopefully there will be great development..

Hope for many many developers too And many many great ROMs

Yep, he is obviously developer... Simple:
If you require something more powerful: Desire S
If you require something powerful: Desire

NumLine1 you're right , you're right
Newer.. is not always better , but, always powerfull

If you think Desire is good phone, then pick Desire
But if you want better than Desire without larger screen, then pick Desire S
I'm swear, before i buy DS i'm little confuse because my phone is Desire...
But after i already buy > open box > feel in my hand > OMG i'm not confuse anymore
desire s is better than Desire (design, built quality, screen, internal mem size LOL, and network reception)
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA Premium App

Desire S is better for sure, but also more expensive. If he really doesn't require that high end experience, he should be ok with classic desire.
I don't see any real reason to buy android phone if the buyer just use it for calls. It's not my money though...

Please help me search for a good Android gadget

Hello everyone,
I began to like android OS and I want to have one..
I have read several review for several gadgets but most of them are only explaining the technical specs...
What I need now is to know which phone has the less bugs ( from firmware, sync software, etc.) or other words the one with the less problems.
I plan to use it for the next 2-3 years...so it must be tough!
A friend told me that Samsung i5700 and i7500 are completely pieces of junk with uncountable bugs.... those for example...I won't buy...
Can anyone tell me which one or at least share your experience of your current android gadgets?
If you find my question is too open...than I will narrow it down...I am aiming for HTC Legend or Hero ...actually HTC Desire and Motorola Milestone also... but too expensive for me...
Which one you advice me to buy?

I have done also some searching...it looks like that Legend or Desire could be the one for me....
I saw it on several online store...the difference between Desire and Legend is not longer big...only about 50 Euros..unlike several weeks ago...it was more that 80 Euros...for 2-3 years of investment, I consider 50 euros is still acceptable with some conditions of course...
The problem is now :
I can not decide to choose looks or more powerful hardware...
I like Desire's specs a lot more but Legend's looks is simply irresistable...
Now I am stuck at choosing one of those...
I have decided to go for more powerful hardware...so...desire...and I am goin' to buy my brother htc hero (gonna upgrade it to 2.1)...
The problem is...my bro just told me...
He want the desire instead ^.^
Sorry...no money left for the second desire or another legend... and I gotta have the desire...so he have to be satisfied with hero ^o^

[Q] HTC Desire z or Iphone 4?? (Swap)

Hi , having been an avid HTC user a while back, rom changing etc, I got an iphone and have used that since. I once went back to a HTC touch pro 2 but didnt like it so ended up getting an Iphone 4 on release. Since then I still have a longing for HTC so am wondering whether to get another? I want to get away from the iphone to tinker with HTC again but cannot decide, what do you guys think?
I was looking at a desire Z because I want a physical keyboard so am hoping to swap for my Iphone 4.
My phone is in as new condition with box and accessories bought from Apple so is unlocked to all networks.
Let me know if interested, cheers. Stu.
Just looked at this lol
http://forum.iphone-developers.com/general-discussion/541-iphone-htc-desire-z-swap.html
I got a Z today, and I must say it's an amazing phone
Of course hTC Desire Z!!!
Stick with HTC
This should be self-explanatory, Desire Z FTW!
HTC Mogul (old)> iPhone (any model)
i had the same choice here in canada, went with the desire z and no regrets so far. though i briefly used swype on my friend's captivate and it was definitely impressive and with a larger screen thats nice... but no flash on the camera is a downer. iphone... meh
Isn't it pretty dumb to ask a question like that here at XDA? The people here will, of course, vote for the HTC. Looking for Android fanboys? Well, XDA is the place. You won't get a single objective answer here.
That's like asking the guys at Mercedes if you should get an Audi. The answer won't surprise you.
No no no, bazooka, I stated that I had HTC touch pro 2 previously and didnt like it. I just wanted a subjective view if things had improved since then.
Oh, i see
The answer is yes. HTC has improved since the Touch Pro 2. Check out some videos on YouTube or something, or take a HTC out for a spin. HTC and Android matches perfectly, and HTC has improved big time the last year(s).
I love my Desire Z (T-Mobile G2) that I just picked up, but they keyboard probably isn't for me. I think I would prefer an HTC Glacier (MyTouch 4G) instead.

Thanks Bazooka, I looked around and they do look better on video, so hopefully will get some interest for my iphone and go back to the good old days of rom flashing etc.
Was'nt too sure about the android OS , but seems to have come on a lot with the apps growing and growing.
I love the physical keyboards, had a wizard first off and had others all with keyboards.
Just something I am comfortable with .

Android is great, but IMO it's not "there yet". Don't get me wrong, it's good, but it can get better, and it will.

[Q] Google Nexus S and HTC Desire HD

Hi guys. I am planning to buy one of those phones listed above. Please help me decide. I dont know what to buy. I love Samsung google nexus S but ive seen so manyy nega feedbacks about it. what are the pros and cons of HTC desire HD and Samsung Google Nexus S. Please help me guys. About the software, is there any issue on google nexus S? and is google nexus S gonna get every update on android? and how about desire HD?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
CHEERS!
For me the Nexus S is the more desirable of the two because it is stock Android. I just don't see the need for Sense bloatware...but that's just me

yes but the desire is very easy to root and S-off so you can get it to stock pretty easily using a rom like cyanogen 7
my friend has a nexus S and i still like my DHD better even if it is from a purely aesthetic point of view, performance is pretty much the same @ stock but i think the nexus responds to overclocking better than the DHD thats if you actually plan on overclocking.
The HTC Desire HD has HTC Sense HD.... its great!
And you have SOFF and Root so you can put plan Android on it.
U can do this at the Nexus S too but i think the Desire HD is the better Phone! Just because of Sense and its look
thats a touph decision, they are both great phones.
buy them both.
I cant afford to buy them both.. im still a 16 yr old student andd i have two phones. i am planning to sell them and buy nexus S. andd have another with a black and white screen :|
Im thinking rly hard for these, i like the design of Nexus S and its pure android. i can get each and every update that will be released on the next months. i also like DHD but its design is a no no for me.typical rectangular shaped phone and im also worried about its updates because DHD might not get future updates.
Naaah, im really confused.
Thanks for your replies sir *salutes*
EDIT: and also ive heard that the battery of the HTC desire HD sucks. what should i do? help please. thanks!
Nexus S = no sd card
Is it true that the Nexus S has no SD Card slot? That would be the deal breaker for me to not get that phone.
Get a Hd2, the most customizable phone going, you can then use a desire or froyo or gingerbread rom, or even wp7 if you fancy it.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
If I could choose between Nexus S, DHD and HD2, i would definately take the HD2! Hardware of the DHD and HD2 are nearly the same and it costs only half of the DHD. You can choose out of many OS's and the Android-feeling on the HD2 is native.
If you want a short answer:
There is no big difference between these phones, only the price matters.
First I wasn't sure if I should by the DHD or HD2 and I took the latter. A used HD2 but in very good condition for 180€ is a fair price. And DHD for 450€ is too expensive for me as a 17y old student ;D

[Q] One S Development

Hello guys, i'm in love with the One S, but i've been watching the forums lately, and the One S is receiving way less attention then the One X.
We have at least 3 big and great custom Roms for the One X, and i can't see any for the One S yet.
Do you guys think the One S android development is going to reach the One X sometime?
I want to know this, before i buy the phone, or else i'm getting a One X
One x doesn't have a bootable cyanogenmod..mainly sense roms. The desire HD took a while to kick in on dev side also..its preference
The only development missing is really cyanogenmod daily type and tool sets Modding battery etc.you won't be missing out on much.plus our battery's last longer and doesn't have the flex issue the first x stock has lol
It is slow bit but come onn...crap phones have active development...it will happen.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA Premium App
One X counts as "Flagship" so more ppl buying it - more development. But I think after first few 2-3 month ppl will understand that S is as good as X, also I guess it wont be problem to take same roms from X and make them avaible for S.
Definetly not something what should affect your decision about what phone to buy. Choose which u like more, the development of roms will be good for both.
Maybe One S will get more attention after it gets released on Tmobile.

Once again, thanks!

I'm so happy that I opted for the S instead of the X. In my (humble) opinion, most people have been drawn to the Quad core of the X - but it seems the S is just as, if not more, powerful!
I think as people realise that the S is up there in the power ratings then development will pick up. I hope so, I miss having my Insertcoin\ARHD etc ROMs to choose from =D

Its not the Quad-core that stands out on X, its the 720p IPS SLCD2 display. Its the best on the market today. I havent seen One S in person, but usually SAMOLED displays suck big time, perhaps HTC done some calibration on this one to make it better.
I love the Amoled screen, I thought it was ace on the SGS.... I think its even better on the One S....
if someone doesnt like it, They tend to slate it, and that puts other people off... instead of just sayin 'personally its not for me, i prefer the xxxxxx screen' they rant and rave 'oh its **** dont waste your money'
and it gives it a bad reputation

all i know is that it was/is a disaster on Galaxy Nexus....and its 720p. I have IPS LG right now and colors are great, I had Vibrant also and it was so so.

Calm down azzle lol..I get what your saying though.I personally love the screen..didn't at first but messed around with the contrast now its lovely

I won't buy a phone if I don't think there's going to be a good amount of development for it. That being said, I think the fact that its a global phone will help alot.
and its being announced by T-Mobile right now.

i also can't wait for s-off. the htc dev method isn't a choice for me.
I'm disappointed in the developers which decide blind for the one x. Sure it is the Flagship, but with years old manufacturing technique. nobody can say that a comparable 40nm manufactured cpu saves more energy that a 28nm manufactured one. faster sure, but a pockedheater^^
only one good dev for a rom and one for the kernel is enought for us. I love to flash costum roms, best two times a week^^ i miss it.

Replacement for my HTC Desire?

Hi,
I am wondering if it is worth replacing my HTC Desire that I actually love and has loads of support and ROMs available. I'm currently running on the MildWild Oxygen ROM and it's great!
I have a budget of around 200euros which could get me a second hand HTC Sensation, potentially a Samsung Galaxy Nexus? Or for a wild card the HTC HD2 which I seem so see a lot of good things written about.
My question is,it worth it or better hold out another year, have a little more money and make a significant step up? And to what? Nexus 4 if I can get my hands on one...
Sorry, lots of questions there, but I would appreciate people's opinions on this.
Cheers

first off post your question here, its for anyone who is looking for new devices
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846277
And imo, if you budget, is this small and you enjoy your current phone, I recommend not to get a new phone because whatever new phone you gonna get would not be that much better than your current one.
click thanks if helped
Well it really depends on your usage and needs. If your happy with how your hardware is performing than you could definitely save yourself some dollars staying around these devices you've mentioned. I know what you mean I was quite happy with my Desire HD (rooted running 4.1.1) however it cant quite keep up with todays mobile games and apps so when I broke the screen a couple weeks ago I decided it wasnt worth me fixing ( cost would be about $50) and took up my carriers offer to upgrade and got a Note II. But like I said, it truly depends on your usage and needs. Hope this helped your decision..
