[Q] not waking up after new firmware - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

it used to wake up fine with the .9 and .12 beta firmware but not the .6 (whatever was before .9). But with the .13 release, this bug has returned
anyone else experience the same?

I haven't had it happen to mine since the update yet. Have you tried holding the power button down and pressing it repeatedly? Or holding the volume down/up (I forgot which) and the power button? Those seem to be the most common fixes.

i did try pressing the power button a few times, gave up and did a hard reset (hold it down for a few seconds, then press it again to turn it on)
just sucks... this issue went away w/ .9 and came back for me in .13

Pressing the power button for a few secs doesnt hard reset it. Sounds like all you are doing is a forced power off.

I'm sorry, bad choice of words... forced restart is what I meant

How do I hard reset my fuze?

I've been trying this over and over and all I get is the initial bootup screen.
I hold down the Volume Down, Enter (center circle button) and then use the stylus to hold down the Reset button. I hold all 3 down at the same time.
Every time I do this the phone reboots as if I only pressed the reset button using the stylus.
I've tried holding all 3 down for over 5 seconds and I've also tried releasing the reset button first and continuing to hold down the Volume Down and Center/circle button (which is the way described here on xda) and all it does is do what I believe is a soft reset.
Shouldn't I be seeing a screen saying it's going to delete all data?
What am I doing wrong?
EDIT: I should mention, I just finished installing TAEL's new rom ([ROM][WWE][PRO|FUZE][WM6.5.5.5|23518][14JAN10] TAEL ROM v3.23518 • SENSE EDITION • ), which is a windows mobile 6.5 rom, but every time I try the hard reset it's showing windows mobile 6.1. Although it does show TAEL rom at the initial screen where it also shows the wrong windows mobile version.
hard reset fuze
You must keep holding the volume up and the circle button pressed AFTER you remove the stylus. this should take you to the RGB screen and then instructions on how to continue.
Good luck
Actually, that method didn;t work for me either.. but this one did...
Take out the battery... put the battery back in...
Press and hold the CENTER BUTTON and VOLUME DOWN... While still pressing them press and hold the POWER button. Then you will get a screen saying press volume up to hard reset...
I hope that works for you
That was so easy! Thanks.

Many people often let go of the buttons before it turns back on.
Note: You can release the reset button but still have to hold Vol Down and Center to get to the Bootloader.

[Q] what is the best way to boot into recovery/BL 100% of the time

I know it's Power + Vol Down while booting up to get to the BL, but the soft buttons blink 6 times and then nothing happens.
Then i let go of the buttons, try it again, and nothing happens.
SOmetimes holding Power+volDown works, sometimes it doesnt.
What am i missing here
a program called quickboot. Only works for rooted phones
Or
connect phone to computer
adb reboot recovery
adb reboot bootloader
It's very iffy for me, the best is to use a short cut like quick boot or have an extended power menu. But if you must, power down your device, hold volume down and power for 5 seconds (I countdown like the shuttle is taking off lol) then on 5 release power but hold volume down... Should pop up every time

i guess i'll be giving the app a shot, but what am i doing wrong with the key presses?
should i do it with the phone off?
while rebooting?
from the OS?
what
how i do it and what i originally read to be the correct button combination is hold down power and volume down for 5 seconds, then release power button while holding volume. should work.

Turn off fastboot in power settings, if it's on when you power off the phone its like sleep, it's not actually off and that would be why it's not working for you.

If you are okay with flashing a better, faster rom compared to stock, CleanROM has this feature from the power menu. Works flawlessly.
Before that, I used adb commands.
I hold down the vol down button, then press and hold the power button for about 2 sec, continuing to hold down the vol down button until you are in the bootloader.
So the vol down button is the trigger for the bootloader.
And you have to have fastboot turned off.

Will not go into bootloader

I've held the vol down and the power button, for as long as 10 minutes. The phone does nothing. I release them and the phone starts normally. The touch buttons at the bottom blink 4 - 5 times, and that is all that happens.
What is going wrong here? I am on 1.85. No root, no mods etc.

In power settings uncheck fastboot and then try again.

No change. Touch buttons do not blink, but the phone simple never starts up until I release them.
Start by holding the volume down button in, then the power button. After the the soft lights blink a few times & the screen goes black, immediately release the power button "only" while still holding in the volume down key. If I had to guess your not releasing the power button.

I was going to say something similar. You don't even have to hold the power button that long (until the softkeys blink), just 3 seconds or so. Then release the power button but NOT the volume down button. Keep holding vol down until you are in bootloader. This, and make sure "fast boot" is unchecked in Settings>Power as previously mentioned also.

My One S never boots up and keep restarting automatically

My One S has worked fine until now. Now, however, it suddenly started to reboot nonstop. I get the first two starting screens, then it shuts down, and in a few seconds it starts again. The process continues until the battery is dead. I've tried to hold in the shutdown button for various amounts of time and it leads to the process halting, ie the mobile keeps being off. But once I release the button the process continues once again.
Any ideas?
Can you get in to bootloader?
Power down then power + Volume

Dont seem to work. Ive tried multiple times to press both power and volume while the One S is shutdown. Have anyone heard of this problem before?
Are you HTC Dev unlocked?

Hold down Power you will see all 3 keys at bottom flash just keep holding, this should hard reboot
If not reboot device when screen and lights go off hold volume down then factory restore

This didn't work on my phone :S I tried hard reboot and factory reset, both doesn't work. :S
What else I can do, I'm so panicked at the moment, please help me.
I can't get to the menu screen, it just keeps reloading between htc one s and htc logo please help.
I was having this issue the other day. It took me a while to get it figured out and this thread helped me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630459
To get into bootloader was hit and miss for me. I found that the best and most consistent way was to hold down the power + down volume, let go of the power while holding down the down volume after 5 sec and then press the power again then let go of both buttons.

[Q] button combination to force a shutdown

I must be searching for the wrong things. What is the button combination to force a shutdown on the Note Pro? Thanks.
eric
Press and hold:
Power only - power off
Power + vol up - recovery
Power + vol dn - download mode.
Is this what you are needing?

Those were what I was expecting. But the power+vol combinations aren't doing anything on mine. It is a Verizon LTE version, but I wouldn't think that would make a difference?
They should work . . . best way IMO is to just do a shutdown from within the OS, then while the tablet's off press and hold a vol/home combo prior to pressing and holding the power button. Once the model number splash screen appears let go of power first while holding the other two . . hold the other two for a second or so and then let go.

Ok, this is really silly, but I don't find any way from the Note Pro's OS to do a power down, other than the popup from holding the power button?
(Sorry, bit of background, this all started from a problem that my power button was only working to wake the tablet, but after that, had no effect whatsoever. After mucho playing, for no apparent reason, finally the popup menu came up, I did a restart, and it's been 100% since than. But it has left me worried how to do a shutdown if the power button isn't working. No pulling the batteries on these things.)

Correct, when booted into android OS a momentary holding of the power button will bring up the power menu one option within which will be to power off. This is typical of many android devices.
Are you sure your power button is operating normally?
I have read elsewhere of a user having issue with his power button not feeling right (less travel than anticipated without much tactile feedback when depressed indicating possible defect).
I would like to add for clarity that there is no force shutdown via hardware button, only force reboot. Holding power down for several seconds will force a full reboot. Holding it down briefly to get the power menu gets the power off option in the menu to fully turn the tablet off. If your tablet reboots after this option is chosen then something is wrong.

No, because after returning to working fine yesterday it is acting up again. Not a hardware problem - if the tablet is off, the button will always work to wake it up. But once again, it is now not being responded to when the tablet is awake - either a quick push, a long push, or in combination with the other buttons.
It seems like this is a software problem, either driver or app, since mechanically the button works every time to wake up the tablet. And, of course, I can't do a shutdown or reboot to see if that clears it, because its not responding to the power button. Can't remap the power button because no root available on the Verizon LTE model. Frustrating.
eric
I would take it back to Verizon. IMO software shouldn't interfere with a long depress forcing a reboot. That function is fundamental. This still sounds to me like a possible hardware issue where a long press is not identified as such (intermittent connection in the button).

But a short press also doesn't work when the tablet is on, but does work when the tablet is off. But then it clears up, and always works properly for awhile.
Unfortunately, unlike phones, taking out the battery isn't an alternative option...
I dunno what to tell you. Without root I don't see how any software you have installed on the tablet would have changed anything, and without the ability to get into download mode I'm not sure there's a way for you to do a factory reset that will fix the issue (if it is indeed a software one). I hope someone else chimes in that can help. My suggestion to take it in to Verizon still stands though.
Good luck!
