OK sorry i should have explained better...
The circuit board where the micro usb adapter is snapped off when i plugged in my cable i cant connect usb anymore so i cant flash an sbf.
But if you could flash your phone back to stock and Nandroid a back up of original that would save mah butt
In case you can manually install OpenRecovery with stock..
1. Have OpenRecovery on root of SDcard.
2. Root.
3. Run this in adb shell.
Code:
su
cp /sdcard/OpenRecovery/orbootstrap/install_script.sh /tmp
chmod 755 /tmp/install_script.sh
/tmp/install_script.sh STR
I just need Nandroid of
But before you flash to stock make a Nandroid of yours make sure you save a nandroid of yours to revert.
1. Logo
2. Boot.
3. System.
4. Data.
Thanks'

Argg!! My computer is acting wacko this morning and won't boot. I'll work on this a little later on. Not sure if anyone else has a fresh, stock nandroid that they will be able to upload before i get this thing working.

Ok man thanks so much for trying
If i can get this Nandroid soon il go RMA my Phone today, then IL finish my ROM.
Il give you the Beta in exchange.
Working Cam with little 1sec or no shutter lag On first Pic stable HD rec with no Lag and runs fast at UC 550 mghz.
It's awesome i have been working on this one for months..

I have an idea, but let me test it first, since I can still flash if necessary. The idea is extract system.img from the sbf and modify the nandroid script to skip applying the openrecovery bootstrap. That should give you a prestine system.img. I have the CBW sbf. Will that work? (I'll have to wait until my daughter's nap in an hour to test)

Excellent! Looking forward to your ROM.
In case someone is searching for this in the future (wait...search? yeah, right):
Here's boot.img and system.img extracted from US_STR_U2_04.01 (CBW) for use in nandroid:
http://www.multiupload.com/250D6G760W
To prevent re-install of the openrecovery hijack after flashing replace nandroid-restore_openrecovery.sh with the attached version.
The haptic feedback in 2.1 is much better than what's on our 2.2...

So I would just replace your attached file & on the next reboot it would uninstall the Open Recovery hack?

Not exactly. Replace the file and then nandroid restore the sbf-extracted system.img.
One of the things the unmodified nandroid-restore script does is install openrecovery after installing system.img. I think any nandroid backups made from within openrecovery will include the openrecovery files (because they were there before the image was made), so you have to restore the sbf-extracted ones. I also noticed that nandroid-restore of system.img is not a bit-perfect copy of the file--it uses unyaffs to extract the files into the partition rather than copy it verbatim. If you want a perfect vendor image you need to flash the sbf using rsd lite/sbf_flash.

[Q] Restore Recovery - One Click Root

Now that the recovery has been made sticky on the later versions of the One-click-root, how would I go about restoring the original stock Recovery if I ever wanted to?
I'd rather prefer it not to be sticky, or at least the script for restoring it to be renamed rather than deleted, so I can run it manually later to restore the original recovery if needed.
I haven't run the run.bat script yet, and would appreciate help in the process to backup the recovery and be in a good situation for allowing full roll back before I do the rooting.

Assuming you're using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138755
Just extract root.zip, go into the updater-script and remove the line:
delete("/system/etc/install-recovery.sh");
Save the file, repack the zip and continue (you can turn off signature verification in CWM)
You can easily rename it using adb, remounting /system manually, or via root explorer or a similar app once rooted.
Excellent, thanks; I'd seen that delete of the .sh , but wasn't sure if removing it would allow the rest of the bat or it would break further down expecting it to have been removed and a reboot to go back to CW.
Thanks!

Best way to backup the EFS folder

So what is the best way to back it up?
Please don't tell me to copy and paste it with a file manager
I hate to tell you this. Copy it with a file manager then transfer it to your computer. It's how you do it.
Honestly I've never had success backing up the efs folder. Every time I tried with any file manager it always failed to copy the IMEI.

Use Super Manager. I've restored mine with it before.
tar or cpio -- Using zip or anything related to Windows, especially a text editor, is just asking for trouble.
# cd /efs
# tar cvf /sdcard/my_efs_backup.20120816.tar .
then copy my_efs_backup.20120816.tar off your microSD and put it somewhere safe
Jeff... I'm not a Linux guy more of a Windows guy but am I suppose to put that in the terminal on the phone? And hechoen aren't there folder permissions involved when you put back the file?
I know there are apps that backup your efs but can I use them? Also somewhere in a thread there is a flash able zip that backups your efs, can it work with ics
I spent a few bucks and bought root explorer...no problems.

Yeah and it also seems that its the only file explorer without the bloat. Its pretty expensive for a simple file explorer.
But well worth it
I find adb a lot easier than the terminal on the phone. It's useful for pushing a file or two to the phone or vice versa without unmounting the microSD. Free too!

Any rom that installs with my aroma installer like most gb roms and a few ics roms make an efs backup in /sdcard/aroma-backup for you.
Also any ics rom that has used the cm9 update.sh script team acid made will back it up for you during the rom install (cm9/aokp).
But how about that flash able zip file from cm7 that backs up your efs folder?

The reason I want to back it up is because I want to flash back to stock using heimdall and there are those times that something could go wrong.

Nope. The folder already has the correct permissions. All you need to do is stitch the system to read/write then paste it back in place. I have used this method so I know it works. I do agree with Jeff though. If you know how to use adb it's a sure fire way to go. Just most users are clueless about it.

Can you at least please provide the thread that the flash able zip is which is both the efs back up and restore.
Try looking at the url I posted above and see if you can figure out - on your own - how to back in to the folder FB posted both the backup and restore zips.

Where to place MobileOdinLite.apk and MobileOdinFlashKernel.zip for Samsung P6

i've rooted my P6210 Samsung Tab and am trying to install the CWM. i saw there was a "free" version of Odin and d/l the .apk. They also mentioned that i needed to d/l the KernelFlash as well, which i have.
Does anyone know where i need to place these files on my Tab so that i can run Odin and install CWM?
Thank you for any help you might be able to provide and have a great evening!
Edit: This post was originally posted in the wrong forum, but i've been set straight. Hopefully this is the right place.
Just install both apks (mobile odin + flash kernel). Unzip the flash kernel.zip first

Thanks, miksumortti, for replying!
The question is "install" in which directory?
Have a great morning!
Just tap the both apk in file explorer, it will open pop-up to install.

miksumortti,, thanks for the info. i may need it since i broke down and bought the "Pro" version, but it doesn't "see" any of my. zip or. img files! So i don't know what's going on with this thing.
Have a wonderful afternoon and thanks again for hh helping.
It should open a file browser when you click the partition you want to flash and show only files that are right for the selected partition. For example if you want to flash whole stock firmware you should tap the "open file" and then browse the .tar or .tar.md5 file and it sets up the right partitions for flashing, corresponding on what the chosen file contains.
Make sure to select right partition if you want to flash for example only kernel or data etc., because you won't see "wrong" files for the selected partition, like you can't flash kernel if you have selected data partition.

Rename the CWM IMG file to recovery.img. Tap the "Open file..." option to find and select the recovery.img file. Mobile odin should associate the IMG file with the proper partition automatically. So, after you've selected the IMG file, yould would see it under the listing for Recovery. Then tap "Flash firmware."
Hey, guys, thanks a lot! That last one - rename to recovery.img - did it. Yea, one happy camper! Now we have CWM.
i see that you are using the CM 10 Unofficial. Is it working alright? If so, do i need to erase/format cache/davlik before flashing? i've forgotten. i've got the most recent on my G2 and very happy with it. Just got a G2 for our daughter and will be trying to root and flash it as well but it needs to be charged first.
Again, thanks a million - i had a hunch that renaming was what was required.
Have a wonderful evening!
Never mind / just found this: " Flash from ClockworkMod Recovery. Make sure to wipe data/factory reset. Back up apps using Titanium Backup or GoBackup, and do a nandroid before flashing!" That should do it. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30813335&postcount=216)

CM10 is working alright, but there still are issues to be worked out. In my experience, CM9 is a bit more stable and usuable, but I don't think it's being further developed.

Help please! phone won't boot

So I think I made a stupid mistake.
I was trying to reset google wallet and It hung at 97% and wasn't able to reset. I used the google wallet installer to basically change my build prop to the nexus build prop. I figured it would just overwrite my original wallet app anyway, and once my build prop was changed to the nexus build prop I could simply reset the app from there.
Anyways, phone rebooted and it's stuck in a bootloop and isn't getting passed the boot animation screen. I can get into recovery mode and download mode just fine. I tried restoring a backup I had with CWM and it says "md5 mismatch error". I really have no idea what to do at this point, and would rather not go completely to stock since I know my data is still there. Also I'm concerned to even restore a backup because i'm pretty sure my build prop was changed. I'm also wondering if it would be possible to simply factory reset and flash a new rom on top of it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
which rom are you using?
extract its build.prop and flash manually (if you know how to create a flashable zip)
if you are using a cm based rom, just reflash the rom without deleting anything..
and avoid using space while renaming backups... it gives md5 mismatch error

No idea how to create the flashable zip. However I did notice a tutorial, I guess now would be a good time to learn.
I'm using darthstalker X1, it's a touchwiz based rom so I can't simply flash the rom again.
I saved all of my backups on my external SD card, can I just simply hook it up to my computer and change the backup names? And is my build.prop included in the backup I made?
Thank you for responding.

renaming the backups again might not fix
i believe to have seen a script for sgy which fixes md5 mismatch error. but you need to give commands from terminal emulator.
if you have more than one backup of the rom, try to restore system only
if any one of them works your phone will boot up again
Edit: your backups contain the build.prop file in system.(partition type).tar
just extract this
and partition type may be rfs or ext4

No idea how that is even done. I think I need windows and ADB in order to extract the build.prop, I have a mac.

to extract backups u need a tar extractor
if the backup format is something like .tar.a or .tar.md5 rename it to .tar first
and restoring the system only of your working backup would have booted your phone (in advance restore in recovery)
anyway this was an experience too for you.. so you would be carefull next time

Restoring my system partition only from advanced restore worked perfectly. All my apps stayed how they were and I didn't have to update all of my apps after I restored. Way better than doing a full restore in this case.
Thank you for this advice, this will be a very helpful method to me if I make any mistakes while messing with anything in my system folder. And yes, it was certainly an experience for me.

Help needed asap to reinstall orignal stock rom on my htc one sv

HI Im a noob. I was able to root my phone successfully and everything I was downloading rooted apps so I download pimp my beats and Dolby mobile well some how it messed up all my audio I couldn't hear a thing so I tried factory reset and then tired uninstalling them and that didn't work so then I went online and downloaded the original boot and recovery.img I tired flashing the but then when I do it comes to the clockworksmod like if it needs a rom or something then when I try installing a ROM it ends up aborting. it ends up getting stuck on the start up with red lettered warning I need someone to help me please get it back to the original state like when first get it out of the box. I want to install the original kernel the original rom and get my sound back on. Or at least so I can fix it to get my warranty valid again so I can get a new one. I need help asap if additional info is needed let me know. do you have any idea why I cant hear phone calls coming in or outgoing, my music or youtube all sounds i can't hear. I know that. I moved the backup on the computer and when I put it on my sd so I could restore it. It didn't work it says no file found do you know where I can download the Original Stock Rom and when i try starting it up it go's to a black screen with a green arrow pointing towards the found then it goes to the phone with a red triangle with a red exclamation point. What is that?
If your backup is not recognised you have put it in the wrong folder i think. So tell us, where the files are on your sd card.

So i put the backup in the CWM folder but it tells me no file found so what do I do? Can I go to some website to download the original stock Rom and kernel I need to fix my phone asap so can you please tell me exactly what I need to do. Plus what are those symbols i describe in my last reply. Thanks so much for assisting me I appreciate it.
The files must be in folder: clockworkmod/backup/2013-04-01.18.46.58
The last folder is the date it was created.
The symbols mean, your flash has failed.
What if that doesn't work

Unzip it. Go into Clean JB Crkt 2.04.1050.3 folder and copy the clockworkmod to your external sd.
Then boot into cwm and choose restore and choose the backup.

Hey man I download that file but its not in zip its in Rar. so I just move the file on to my external sd out in the open not in a folder and I opened up my CWM from the install zip from sd card and that didn't work then I went to restore and it could find the file both times so how do I install it? Do I have to put it in a certain folder or something? It keeps saying no file found. Thanks
Don't copy the zip directly.
What you could do is make a backup, see where it is on your sd, replace it with the one from the zip and then restore that one.
So Noob17_Me, flash this rom from here.

Yea but what im trying to say is that the file I downloaded isn't in zip form. So how am I supposed to install it on CWM?
Sorry but what is so difficult to understand? The rar is not for flashing, its a cwm backup and if you unrar it you have a folder Clean JB Crkt 2.04.1050.3, inside you find a folder clockworkmod.
This clockworkmod folder you have to copy to SD, like it is and and boot into recovery and choose "restore".
And my zip is made from this backup, so it are the same files!
