[Q] Way to disable capacitive buttons - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Its been posted in phone specific forums before, but I guess this question is more relevant to all android rather than specific phone:
I want to be able to disable the capacitive buttons on my phone temporarily, so that my 2 year old can play games without mistakenly touching the buttons, and them re enable the buttons using the volume rocker. Any leads or apps for this?

Any luck?
I'm looking for the same thing, for the same reason. My two-year-old misses my iPhone because of this.

HTC TP2 Touchscreenlock while calling?

Hi there, i'm new here and done extensive searching before asking my question here. So plz no flaming if question is asked in the wrong section
Here's the issue; i've got a HTC Touch Pro 2 and everytime i make a phonecall, my ear presses several buttons on the touchscreen, apps and games get started, processes get killed, etc... quite annoying. Now i found several apps that will lock the touchscreen when called (which nicely will solve the above issue..), but found none that will do the same when i make the call myself.
So what i'm searching for is an app that will
- lock the touchscreen when being called
- lock the touchscreen when making a call
which will unlock when
pulling out the stylus and/or by pressing the hardware-answerbutton or volumebuttons.
anyone out here that knows of an app that'll do just that or something similar?
Thnx in advance!

I'd understood the screen was supposed to turn off automatically when you put it up to your ear?
Or, there's a piece of software that does that... Have a look over in the Rhodium software forum.
Yea, my touch pro 2 (UK) does lock the screen and unlocks with "end call" when moved away from ear.
Don't know why yours doesn't?

Question about the sensor of touch pro

As i know that touch pro is not only can be touched on the screen but also the hard button area ( home, back, call, hang up buttons)
How can i use that feature
Which software that i need to install or how can i active it
Thank for reading my topic
What do you want exactly? Do you want to remap hardware buttons?
the hardware buttons are enabled by default. you don't have to 'activate' them.
No! My point is how can i use the sensor of hardware button ^^
Well, did you mean to use the capacitive surface of those sensors, not the buttons itself? And what exactly do you want? Please explain.
google for "G-scroll"

Click to collapse
My point is
Instead of pushing down the 4 hard buttons (call, back, home, hang off) i just need to touch it on the surface?
You can buy gscroll (mobilesrc.com), but unless you can get the 1.x series, I'd pass. The 2.x series is buggy as hell, and it seems like development has stopped. There are some free apps you can find around here as well. I'm thinking Dredscroll is one, and there was another app called Butler (I think, lol) that allowed you to use it as a launcher with gestures on the area. Gscroll lets you swipe to scroll (it's good for reading ebooks, when it's working) as well as to launch things, but it has the annoying habit of going on smoking breaks.
As I know HTC testing software,I can say,it could not be a problem to create an app of this kind,but...
- Do we have SDK for it(I didin't searched for it yet)?
- Currently I don't know, how to send keyboard hooks to the system
- I cannot prevent/disable default keyboard hooks
So that means,I am not able to solve your puzzle. Sorry.
That was my honest opinion...
I don't think he's asking about the Vibrant-Scroll Wheel, I think he's talking about the Optical Track, itself.
[As the Home, Back, Answer, & End Call buttons require you to actually PUSH them down.]
You know, the "OK/Enter" button. When you place you finger on it [NOT PRESS IT], by default, it lights up the Bottom Hardware Keys, as well as brightens the screen.
If it's not working for you, I recommend Backing up your Important Information with either SPB Backup or Microsoft MyPhone, and flashing a New ROM. There are certain Drivers that control the Optical Track. What they are, however, is beyond me.

[Q]Android App to replace Menu, Home, Search, and Back Keys?

Hi, I recently replaced the screen on my Samsung Vibrant because the previous screen had broken. Unfortunately, I had mistakenly taken the sensors for the 4 main function buttons with my efforts. As such, I was wondering if anybody knew of an app that would replace these 4 function buttons through a software solution? Possibly an app that places them in the pull down menu as an ongoing program?
Interested in this as well. Although I do still have working volume keys, those could be mapped to one of the other functions. But I'll start a new thread on that elsewhere.
If there isn't an app, can anybody think of a workaround?

[Q] Disable Capacitive Buttons for Kids...

Hi All,
I have a Nexus S and my 2 year old daughter really loves the games on it. The problem is that she accidentally presses the capacitive keys very often and then gets confused (and angry).
Can anyone point me in the direction to how disabling these buttons temporarily can be achieved (and then perhaps enable them via the volume rocker)?

Disabling hw buttons?

Hey people my S6 is rooted and I asked myself if it could be possible to disable the hardware buttons and use software buttons instead because I don't really use the bottom of screen. But the way bigger problem is I have small hands and when I'm loading the phone over the original psu I accidently hit the "recent apps / menubutton" which cause me to interrupt the game or even more worse, loading it again. I've found something already but this was used on older phones like the S3. Does somebody know how to do it on the S6?
Edit: Can't post the link to the site where I found the tut. It should be the 1st link when you google "wonderhowto disable 3 front buttons"
Thanks for your help!
