Can anyone with a Netflix account test to see if either build.prop change will work for us?
Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but I didn't see it in the Netflix thread...
Edit: It seems a couple people in the Reddit comments claim it doesn't work for the T-Bolt but I would like to get a bigger sample size. Plus I think I trust you guys to get it right a little more...

I've already attempted the build.prop edits with two different NetFlix apk's (com.netflix.mediaclient-1.apk and com.netflix.mediaclient-2.apk) neither one worked on Thunderbolt. Other phones are having success.
Its already been tested. Someone changed the build.prop to match a G2 and it played the sound for about 5 seconds then crapped out with no video.
Thunderbolt is not a "incompatible" device, so these changes are not needed.
Our issue something to do with stagefright (from what I understood from slayher)
Has anyone attempted this on a GB Bolt?
I tried build.prop change and it didn't work on my TB. It starts to play and after one second it goes back to Netflix menu.
I had two different errors. A different error from each of the apk's I tried. The first would begin to play the movie (no video but a second of sound would play) and then back to the list of movies and a DRM notification. The second would not even begin to play the movie but would pop up with an error that it could not connect to NetFlix and that my device was not supported. I tried both apk's after editing my build.prop
now that i think of it, netflix would want more devices supported.... don't you think if they figured out how to put it on the thunderbolt they would? Its better for them, and for us.
I'm pretty sure that XDA can some how get it to work eventually, but hopefully netflix doesn't take too long to support more devices....

I dont know what going on but a bunch of apps are showing up in the market that were not there. Some background, Im using the unofficial MoDaCo 1.2 with a modified build prop. updated with MR info. Just checked the market and bust-a-move and Pic Say Pro are now back the market.
Anyone else having apps show up in the market?
That's a negative good buddy. Still no sign of SU File Manager 3.0.6. Yep I paid for it and it's gone along with a few of the TTS engines I paid for.
Not there yet for me.
eBuddy's not back on either
That's because the developers probably turned off copy-protection on the app but the issue hasn't been fixed.
just upgraded to modaco 1.2...and yes, i was missing a paid app (droidlive), but it has now reappeared.
also, for anyone interested, playing media via bluetooth speakers works perfectly on this ROM
Yea he did it by putting the old props file back in so it has the phone identify to the market that it's still version 1.26. I had mentioned in a few threads that I could add that to fresh rom if needed but wanted to see if Google/Sprint would fix the issue rather than tricking it in to something it wasn't. Although I've had multiple reports from people using Fresh that the apps were showing up for them even without a modified props.
I'm not sure yet. But maybe I'll put a modified one in mine also. I don't see how it could possibly affect it, but I wonder if that is some how related to the bluetooth speakers too? I'll check it out.

I can't see how. I can confirm that stock sprint rom with MR update Bluetooth works normally. I ran your 0.4 and saw the BT audio streaming issues.
Hello all,
I'm thrilled to report that MLB At Bat streaming seems to work on the Charge once on Gingerbread with a simple build.prop spoof. While spoofing on Froyo gave the option to start streaming, the video would never load for me. But here I sit, watching Yankees/Jays in the 1st. (Would rather watch the Red Sox win than the Yankees lose, but they've got an extra day off following the break.)
NOTE: I'm currently running GummyCharged Gingerbread 1.0. I am 99% sure this will run on any version of Gingerbread, but if for whatever reason it doesn't, I don't know why, and probably can't help you.
While we're on the subject, I've also listed the build.prop fix that will show missing apps in the market. This is the same fix that gets done by the app linked in danalo1979's thread here.
So, if you want to fix your market to allow you to find and download MLB At-Bat 2011, and then make streaming work, change the following two lines in your build.prop:
ro.product.model=Nexus S
AND
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/shadow_vzw/cdma_shadow/shadow:2.2.1/VZW/23.340:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys
If you don't know how to edit your build.prop, the easiest way is to purchase Root Explorer (Don't think twice, just buy it) and then navigate to the /system folder. Click the "Mount as R/W" button, then long press on build.prop and Choose Open in Text Editor. Then copy-pasta the two lines above over whatever is there.
If you really want, you can also use Root Explorer or ADB to overwrite your build.prop with the one attached to this post. Just unzip and paste/push in the /system folder. It contains both fixes. Not the best idea in the world if you're on anything other than GummyCharged Gingerbread 1.0, but probably won't hurt anything if you're on any other GB rom.
Happy to answer any questions. Hope this works for everyone. Play ball!
NOTE: You'll need to do this again anytime you flash a rom/update.
Thanks SpiffyRob,
Coming from the OG Droid, watching MLB is one thing that I miss. But, my charge is only rooted with the PBJ non-voodoo, stock Froyo. I think I'm going to keep it that way for a while.
But it's great to know that I can upgrade to a GB based rom if I want to stream MLB games.
Side note: I just installed the WatchESPN program & tested. Works ok on the Charge.
So, thanks again. (can't find a thanks button for your post)
Chris
Very happy to help. I took the plunge into GB once the second leak came out, and as luck would have it, GummyCharged was updated shortly thereafter. There are a few issues out there, and we won't have Voodoo until the source drops, but nonetheless, I definitely recommend upgrading.
Sorry to drag up an older thread.
I did all of the above. I can see the app in the market so I guess everything works. For the life of me, however, I can not seem to fins how to watch a game.
I can see the pitch by pitch, box, field, plays, and video highlights. I can also listen to the audio feeds, but I can not find anything anywhere for an option to watch the game.
-SNT
Seeing it in the market only means the fingerprint hack worked. (You can see it in the market even if you're not on an MLB.TV supported device.)
When you're in scoreboard mode, does it not show the TV icon when you longpress on a game? If not, something went wrong. (Don't try now, as no games are on, but once games start give it a go.)
I never came across this issue with my G2, but during google's 10 cent sale I bought a few games (asphalt 6 was the main one I wanted) and when I first got my sensation it came preloaded with N.O.V.A 2
Since rooting my phone neither one of those is now available, they don't show up in the market and when I tried to push the apk file it still doesn't work. When I check the market on my desktop it says my phone is incompatible. I have tried multiple roms, thinking it may have been a sense 3.5 issue, but it happens on 3.0 roms as well.
Have any of you run into this issue? Why does this happen, and how can I fix it?

I can't comment on before or after rooting my phone because I did it straight away, but I can't 'see' either of those games in the Market. I also can't buy Shadowgun. Apart from those people running pirated copies, there are clearly also people who can buy and download these games. I just don't get it. At first I thought people must be using Chainfire's Tegra app, but I don't think it's just that. I guess it should be possible to change something on the build.prop but I can't work out exactly what the key difference is.
After I posted I found this:
http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-in...-from-android-market-for-unsupported-devices/
I haven't tried it yet but I'll post back when I do. Nova 2 worked just fine on my phone before I rooted it, and I bought asphalt6 with my phone (again, before I rooted and installed new roms) I'm assuming not everybody has these problems, so I'd love to know why some of us have issues and others don't?
Thanks for the link. I'm debating whether or not to flash a stock ROM first to see what happens.
Also, the other factor that clouds the issue is that developers can remove devices from their compatibility list in the Market as and when they choose. For example, looking on their forum, this appears to be the case with the Sensation and Madfinger's Shadowgun.
So from what I'm learning I need the original buildprop from the stock sensation in order to make this work. I tried the directions from the link I posted and clearly changed something because I got an email welcoming me to the nexus s, but my market still tells me asphalt 6 is not available for my sensation.
Here's to add to the link posted.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20048765&postcount=5
Thanks, I'll try those edits and see what happens.
Purely for info. Flashing back to a stock ROM (1.50.401.1) didn't work for me, though I was still S-off, just in case that matters in some way that I don't realise.
Tried altering my build.prop as per the OP's link but it didn't work for me. Haven't tried kpjimmy's link yet.
I'd still like to find out for sure if anyone can buy these games without an altered build.prop, and if so, why? (excluding anyone who's using chainfire's app...)
So after spending an hour trying things out my phone's nearly dead and I'm at work so I won't be able to recharge it until I get in the car, but as I type it's downloading asphalt 6. It also thinks it's a Nexus S as it asked me if I wanted to update to IceCream sandwich. A little scary as I'm assuming that would brick my phone. Anyhow, here's what I've done so far:
Clear Market Cache & Data. Settings > Applications > All > Market > Clear data.
Launch ES File Explorer. Enable both Root Explorer and Mount File System under Settings > Root Settings.
Navigate to /system. Here you will find the build.prop file. Take a backup of it by copy-pasting it to your SD card.
Open & edit /system/build.prop
Change the following lines to make your phone identify as a GSM Nexus S:
ro.product.model=Nexus S
ro.product.brand=Google
ro.product.name=sodu
ro.product.device=crespo
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
ro.build.fingerprint=google/soju/crespo:2.3.4/GRJ22/121341:user/release-keys
ro.build.description=soju-user 2.3.4 GRJ22 121341 release-keys
Save file and remember to change the chmod type button back to read only in the system folder
Reboot the phone
My build prop had 2 entries for build description and I edited both of them. I'm going to try to get NOVA 2 as well, I'll post back after I try playing both of them. I just don't understand why it was so flipping difficult to get these?
And why don't all rooted/rom'ed sensations have this issue?
My last 2 questions I might find on my own, but maybe somebody has an answer so I don't have to experiment. If I wipe/reset and reinstall my current rom, will that rebuild the build.prop file back to original?
AND....if I do get both these games working and use Titanium to back them up, will I be able to reinstall them without re-editing the buildprop file again?
More to come, stay tuned...

Shadow Gun was available to us on the market until very recently.
Madfingers found out that there were driver issues that they couldn't fix... or something like that, so they pull it for the Senny for now.
there is a sticky on their forum regarding it.
far as Asphalt 6, log onto Gameloft's site via your phone(user agent set to Android) and you can purchase it directly from the site.
That still doesn't answer the question of why isn't the Market working correctly?
I'm assuming u have a US sensation? My thinking is if you flashed a Rom that is based on the euro sensation then maybe the market identifies the phone as a euro sensation and blocks certain apps that aren't available in Europe....maybe?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
I started with a US updated to the latest release. I rooted it and tried in this order (or close to it):
Android Rev. 4.1
Energy
Elegancia
TMXSS (maff1989's rom)
I had forgotten about asphalt and nova until I was on Elegancia, but on the TMX rom, which is a stock us version basically, it didn't work. I really don't understand the inner workings of android, I'm not even close to a developer level, so if this might be a stupid question...does the buildprop file change with each rom? Basically if I reflash the rom I'm using now it'll rebuild the buildprop?
Yes, build prop changes with each ROM
Ouzo,
this doesn't answer the original question, but it's looking like going directly to Gameloft's website worked for me, at least with Nova 2. The problem though is even though I paid for it once through market the Gameloft site doesn't recognize that, so if I want either game I am going to need to either pay twice or request a refund from google.
Good news that you can download NOVA via Gameloft's website, though to be honest I'm not going to do that because I don't want to create a second account to access their games. I didn't like the idea of giving them my mobile number - knowing my luck I'd end up getting a load of marketing calls from all over ; )
I'm also just feeling stubborn about this. There must be people on here who know. Hopefully they'll read this thread and enlighten us. I'm going to carry on experimenting with other ROMs and see if any unlock the reason why.... Wonder if Sensation XE owners/ROM users can see NOVA etc in the market?
I have a legitimate copy of this game as well as a paid subscription so I'm not looking to circumvent security.
The thing is my phone (Lynx 3D) is not officially supported so I have to rely on picking up cracked versions off the net every time there is an update.
The trouble is nobody is cracking the latest version to work on all devices.
I have waited for weeks, posted on a number of forums and even tried mailing some people who I know have done it in the past but so far I've had no luck.
Can anyone help me out here please?
Lol, I'm an idiot
A) I have already paid for it. I don't want or need any 'warez'
B) I am only looking to edit the apk to make it work on my device
And again!
"Software cracking is the modification of software to remove or disable features which are considered undesirable by the person cracking the software..."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_cracking
The feature I want to disable is the one that stops it working on my phone.
I stated clearly, twice, that I am not trying to pirate the app.
I am looking for a way to edit the apk to allow it to run on a device which is not supported.
I already ownit and have a paid subscription for it.
Did you contact the developer of that game?
Yes, a number of times.
Unfortunately the developer is Gameloft and they couldn't care less about supporting my phone. They have never supported popular devices like the Asus Transformer so the chance of getting them to support my obscure, Japan-only phone is a solid zero.
I'm really sorry, completely misunderstood.
Ok, they've got user forums on the order and chaos website, I think you'll get a much better response there than here
I think the easiest way to get it on your device would be to change your build.prop and edit it so that it setup as a supported device like a DroidX, HTC Thunderbolt etc. Hope that helps, good luck.
No problem
I've thought about changing the build.prop but I cannot root my phone, its locked down tight.
I KNOW its possible to crack it for all devices, I've been playing cracked versions for months now. They usually surface a day or two after the game is updated. But nobody has done it this time and I just don't know how it is done to do it myself.
I think there must be some kind of list in the apk that the game checks against your device before allowing you to proceed. If I could just find out where it is and what it looks like then maybe I could amend it myself.
Otherwise when I install and run the game it says 'Device not supported" and kicks me out.
Decompile it, checkout the androidmanifest.xml but there won't be a device list, rather things like "needs screensize X", "needs sensor X" which you can alter.
If that doesnt help, search through the code files for either a device you know is compatible or not compatible, see if you find something.
Thanks, I managed to decompile the apk and I found what I believe is the list of supported devices.
I edited one of them and changed it to my make/model.
But I'm not sure about compiling the apk again, is there an idiotproof way of doing that?
I recently posted a few different times a query about the following problem in specific developers threads the kernels of whom I had experienced the sams problem. I made a few people frustrated because I didn't let it alone that noone was responding there. I havs come to find that it is the same on any kernel change and furthermore is the same with the stock rooted deodexed rox with stock kernel i am running now.
To save time I am going to paste here and edit from one pf my posts from the other threads....
........
I posted the question a couple of months ago if anyone else was experiencing issues when NOT JUST USING SCREEN MIRRORING, which works just fine for me, but when using screen mirroring & then employ an video streaming app (OTHER THAN YOUTUBE) like NETFLIX or hULU or HBO GO. I am getting an issue where I get sound across the stream but no video except the progress bar and volume controls. otherwise it is black screen. the menus even work fine for selecting a video but once it loads it is black, also if using HULU there is a 5 second video that introduces what series you are watching before the program starts. this will run with video but nothing but black screen +controls when program starts.
Does anyone else experience this after rooting or software modding. I am running as close to stock as I care to n920tuvs4dph2 stock deodexed rooted with stock kernel.
Next I will be reying stock with auto root. But I love some of these kernels out there and I am also inclined to keep a backup of the stock for when I want to mirror and flash kernel when I don't. But a fix would be nice.
I of course lost mirroring altogether when flashing current rom but a single line of build.prop editing rmedied that, but when trying to stream a netflix video ... BLACK.
PLEASE TEST THIS IF YOU HAVE THE TIME!
If you do not have a samsung TV or a Roku on which to test this then I encountered identical problem when trying to stream from a paid service to my laptop when using sidesync. Which I believe most anyone can test.
I would greatly appreciate your feedback on this and remember that all other elements of screen mirroring work fine except this. Alos streaming from You Tube works with video.
This particular feature fail has plagued me during whatever Spears changes i have made
Also please let me know which model phone (mine is Note 5 Tmo) you are using''
Thank you soooo much in advance!!!!
Found an answer HERE I had come across the fix of disabling hdcp in build.prop but didn't know own what it really meant. Basically hdcp is DRM or copyright protection and when you alter your stock software the apps that use hdcp will not function properly. There is no current or expected fix.
