[Q] Video App with video 'type' sorting

I recently purchased both a Xoom Tablet and the Xperia Play phone. With the phone I received the Media Go media management software which I am really loving as a replacement to iTunes. One thing I have always really liked about iTunes was the way it stored and sorted video files, being able to separate them into Movies, TV Shows, Video Clips and then sort shows down into Series and Season as well. With Media Go I am able to do this as well and I can easily sync the video files onto my Xoom Tablet right from Media Go.
My question is, are there any video player/management apps for Xoom which would carry this organization over as well? Something that would separate Movies from TV Shows and then let me select a given TV Show and see Season and Episode numbers as well or have subfolders for each season?

[Q] Can't play video files stored on PC from Transformer

Hallo,
I'm trying to play video files (mp4) stored on my PCs with the stock app my-net.
I can see the PCs connected to the network (and even watch pictures) but I can't see movie list (and so, I cant play them).
Any idea? what I'm doing wrong?
I don't know why you can't see the videos, but I never had any luck trying to play videos over MyNet. If you want to stream videos to your TF, you might have to use that Plex app.
After repeatedly being frustrated with not being to play high profile MKV's and not getting subtitles with Plex, this is my solution to playing every single type of video that your PC can play.
Go to "MyCloud" app the specific program you want to use is the "MyDesktop" or splashtop. Go to the Asus web-site and go to the Eeepad support page. Download splashtop remote-desktop to your home PC and set it up. Go back to your transformer and set up the "MyDesktop" with your PC's IP and password information.
Remote desktop to your PC from your transformer. On my home network I am able to basically remote to my PC and play any video lag free. I know this is not a "streaming video" solution but this is the 100% surefire way to play everything you have. Hope this helps.
Mmm, that doesn't reallyhelp if one has a dnla enabled NAS.
I'm reallydisappointed by the videosupport on the transformer, my galaxy s2 does much better...

Upnplay and rockplayer. I can now access and watch (perfectly) all my divx collection on my nas drive
There is a very similar thread in the general section with more details.
1. Install upnplay (free)
2. Install moboplayer (free)
3. Install tegra packaged codecs for moboplayer to play almost every type of video file (free)
4. Profit!!! (not free)

Moving Songs from Xoom to Google Music

I synched my 900+ songs from my PC to Google Music, then I deployed to Afghanistan...
I have extra songs on my Xoom that I would like to synch up to Google Music as well. From what I can tell, Google Music synchs fine to the Xoom, but it doesn't appear like the reverse occurs.
How do I get songs that are on my Xoom up to Google Music without the use of a PC?
Thanks in advance...
I don't think you can do that, but if you find someone with a PC maybe you can connect your XOOM via USB and upload your songs that way (gonna need access to the PC for a while though).

App that can do both photos and videos?

I am looking for an app that can play both photos and videos in the same playlist from a presentation standpoint so I can hook my tablet up next to a TV and have it stream both to the TV.
Right now the Gallery can do photos and MX Player can do Videos, but I need something that can do both in the same play list. Anyone have any ideas?

So you're basically looking for a media server? I use Twonky. Check out the description, but it should match what you are looking for.
I have only once used the app to stream (via WiFi) a movie from my tablet to a TV and it worked fine. I also have Twonky running on my NAS as a permanent media server to serve all my devices that are connected to my home network.
I will look into it, but not looking to have this need to be over a server.
I am looking for something to simply play a slide show that can go from photos, to video, to photos, etc and have all the files on my tablet and not stored remotely.

I think I confused you. Twonky is just that, it runs on your tablet so the TV (or any compatible media play device) can play/display the files you allow it to access. Twonky will turn your tablet into a media server.
I was only explaining that I have used it only once on my tablet. This was to watch a video that I had on my tablet on a TV via WiFi. So I was not using a HDMI cable to hook my tablet to the TV, which is something different. In addition I tried to explain that I use Twonky for the exact same purpose at home, just not on the tablet, but on a NAS.
I see apps for Twonky Mobile, Beam, Video, etc on there. Which one should I use to display these on my tablet in a playlist/slideshow. I will be attached via HDMI.
It doesnt seem to allow me to put both a video and a photo into the same play list... is that correct?
I think what the OP is looking for is a single application that can play both audio and video content within.
Try QuickPic, its a gallery application similar to the stock Gallery, but can play video as well (says standard video on the page).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder
If you want to create a 'playlist' of sorts, you could create a folder and put your files (pictures, video) inside of it. It should come up as a folder in QuickPic. I'm not sure about the ordering however, you'll have to play with that. Possibly alphabetical, or date modified.
Take a look at BubbleUpnp.
It's a dlna app, and the paid version lets you set up your device as a renderer or a library. Set your phone as the server/library, set your TV as the renderer, et voila...
I've tried loads of options, and this is by far the most comprehensive.
You even have the option to subscribe to a cellular based protocol...
