Google I/O attendance. Anyone? - Thunderbolt General

I couldn't really find any clarification on this. I plan on going to Google I/O next year. Are there any requirements besides the 500+ ticket price?

Google Cr-48 or Xoom?

I'm torn between buying a Cr-48 off ebay or just getting a Xoom. I really like both but the Cr-48 is about half the price. Any suggestions?
How much is the Cr-48 ebay?

From what I've seen it's about $300 to $350
I think it boils down to do you prefer a laptop by google or an android tablet. And have you checked out the g-slate I'm hearing that's a pretty nice tablet as well.

I've thought of that as well but it's $600 on contract, and I can get the xoom off contract for the same price
Off contract is the only way to fly lol. But seems like your leaning towards a tablet. I usually just buy what I like but in this market when saving your monies count. I'm breaking down and going to stores and just trying out a lot of products hands on to see if I like them as much as I do in my mind. You can always sale your something in your mind but not always the case in person.

I've checked out the xoom at the Verizon store, its pretty awesome. Too bad I can't do the same for the cr-48 lol.

Yeah the Cr-48 is an risk factor when it comes to not knowing how it runs. Maybe someone got one on craigslist in your area and willing to let you test drive it in a public place. Worth a shot.

Good suggestion, I'll check it out now

No problem glad to give insight

I sold my CR-48. It just lacks any key features.
Use google chrome on your PC. Everything you can do in there, is what the laptop can do.
same web "apps" Same gmail.
Its just chrome browser instead of an OS.
How much did you sell it for?

My flight has been postponed for 4 hours at BWI. I board in 20 minutes. I should already be in Cali by now. This sucks.

I will I live in Sacramento 1 hour from SF I was at io last year where I got my EVO and free one month service.

I was totally going to get my ticket but they sold out so fast. So even being only 45mins away I'm feeling the pain of not being there.

A bit dramatic perhaps but the email is legitimate and what he says is true

Google's homepage has something about internet freedom on it.

Its real. And you should be concerned. I've been getting these kinds of messages since joining in the fight against SOPA and PIPA last year. Look in the news man. They're talking about it all over the place..

Net neutrality is a huge issue that will be coming up. You should read up and pick your side.
Also, although you are very likely to find outspoken ppl of the internet society here, xda is probably not the best place to get info on politics. Lol
Thanks guys for the info

Bestest Place to buy Devices?

I have seen people mention a site called swappa. Is this the best one. I have been looking for a tablet and don't trust huge sites like eBay. Is swappa a good choice? Asking fellow users.

I have used them to buy. They get my vote.

Read into them. Honestly it'd be my first choice if I'm buying outright. Read all their tos and whatnot. As far as I know only clean esn's are on there. I have read into it and it definitely is a lot better of an option than eBay in my opinion

Bestest?

the correct english is " most bestest" dumbass
I bought and sold on swappa. But be cautious of sketchyness. My first one I bought turned out to be a scam and my money ended up I'm China. The whole thing was so sketchy. But PayPal is awesome and got my money back in a couple of days.

I vote swappa. Simple as hell to use.

Here on the US west coast, Craigslist is king for used phones.
For safe transactions and reduced prices, you can check out the "outlet" from the company. A lot of companies sell the slightly used tablets and refurbs on their outlet's website.

actually what i always do is, shop around on the site and see whats available. then i call them prior to me checking out to confirm everything and they usually give anywhere from a 10-15% discount.
KEEP IN MIND:
i have a business account
i have 4 lines under my name. All 4 are smart phones
and i get 21% discount on all accessories because of the company i work for.

Going pice of used Lg2x

With my HTC One activism today, I'll be getting rid of my G2X.
What's the going price?
I see 'em on eBay for anywhere from $110 to $160. Got mine a while back for $115.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I saw most g2xs going in the mid to low 100's depends what condition your phone is in and what extras it comes with. Personally I'd just keep it and use it as an mp3 or sell it to a sibling to some clueless fool
$50-100 depending on condition.
