hello
can window phone 6 softwares b installed on windows 7 phone?
or can i install windows 6.5 on htc mozart??????
no and no...
Can't get to Native APIs with 3rd party apps, so not.
They don't even support .NET CF in WP7...
So, no...
And if your rom has all the drivers I suppose you can install WM 6.5 on it. I can believe it's installable on i.e. an HD7 due to the hardware similarities with the HD2, but it would be hard as hell to use. The button requirements are different and you'd have to do some modding to remap buttons to make the phone usable without ridiculous amounts of frustration...

AFAIK this can't be done. Nobody has ever ported WM6.5 to a WP7 device, and I don't believe anyone is working on it either
It's possible, but it's just not worth it. People are trying to put WP7 on their HD2, not WP7 on their HD7. Most consider that a downgrade and will not even bother working on it. Not to mention the hardware is basically the same with a worse build so you aren't really gaining anything by doing that

Hey guys,
I am a programmer at heart and have developed in many different languages(C,C++,Java,PHP,ASP...). I want to begin developing applications for the Touch Pro (WM 6.1) but I have no idea where to start. My biggest fear is downloading the WM 6.1 emulator messing around with it for weeks only to find out that's not what I should have been using. Can anyone give me some pointers as to where I should start? Are there any tutorials out there for programming for this phone?
I also noticed that the WM 6.1 emulator didn't support the 480x640 resolution that the HTC Touch Pro uses...
Thanks!

Do you know of an emulator for the HTC Touch Pro? I downloaded a program that I know works, and was able to compile and run it on my phone but when I tried to run it with the emulator it was missing the HTCSensorSDK.dll file... something fairly new i presume. I tried default emulator and the Windows Mobile 6 Professional VGA emulator but I was wondering if there was one available for this phone yet.
I want to know the same thing
If/when you find an answer to this I would love to hear about it or see a post on it. Thanks.
There's no such thing as a software-only emulator for the Raphael's hardware, that would be incredibly complex to create for such a task
What the developers use is called a "Board Support Package" - it basically contains all the raphaels hardware, in a PCI card that gets installed in a slot in the computer.. that way all the drivers, etc can be loaded and everything can be tested as it would be on the phone itself.
There's pretty much not a chance in heck of you getting one of those (although if you do, send one my way, I would love to have one )
The emulators are useful for testing generic software that does not tie into any of the features that require raphael hardware. There should also be emulator images to support all resolutions (qvga square, qvga, vga, not sure about wvga/wqvga)
And, here's the link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...52-f89e-4354-84ce-5d19c204498a&displaylang=en
Looks like it does in fact come with wqvga and wvga emulators
Note that you can use an emulator kitchen to add SOME of the htc stuff to the ROM image, but none of the drivers that support the htc hardware will function.
Hi
I'm split between getting the motorola milestone/droid which has a qwerty keyboard (which i badly want), and between the htc hd2 which has the windows apps which i badly need.
I am kind of stuck now between which one to choose for my new phone. So was wondering
1) is windows mobile 6.5 on htc hd2 backwards compatible with the software from windows ppc and other version of windows mobile? (mainly because the apps i want are stuff like rosetta stone on ppc, reflex mentor on windows mobile, lingvosoft on ppc etc which are old)
2) does android o.s have similar software either already or in the pipeworks from anyones knowledge (i know iphoen has a few of these apps or similar already btu no idea about android)?
3) how easy is it to hack android (i know i can test and trial out a lot of these apps before i buy on windows due to the great internet, but can you also do it to android and iphone)?
Thanks to anyone who can help clarify this,
guess no one knows
Hi, Android has over 20,000 apps and counting. It's also open source & has been hacked a pleanty
Check out the "google market" for more info...
Ok. Let me say that I am a windows man. Current phone = HTC TP2. I want to uupgrade 6.5.x onto a WM7 hardware platform but no joy. Damn Metro UI thingies.
Now, I am finding myself looking at the android-based phones and still want the same funcitonality that I enjoy with windows mobile...ie.. complete office suite sync without buying 3rd party apps or going through Google. Microsoft Money/Quicken sync. Luckily I find that most major apps I use have android options.
Is there a migration guide?
thx
Hi Everybody !
you all know how strange it might be some requests form your boss but this is the most strange one !
My Boss has a system that work on WM 6.5 only and doesn't work on WM 7 and he requested that I should Provide him with 40 New WM 6.5 devices !
you know that they are not available currently So I figured out that I should buy new WM 7 Devices and Flash it Back to WM 6.5 !
I think theoretically this is possible but have anyone tried it ?!!!
I want to Try it on HTC 7 pro Device , Could anyone tell me wha the steps I need to do that ?
any other suggested Devices ? I only want it to be New ,with QWERTY keypad and I can install WM 6.5 on it !
Thank you all in Advance.
I don't think this will be simple, your best bet will be buying old stock of a WM 6.5 device. Many sellers on Ebay will still stock them I am sure.
Windows Phone 7 is a completely different product to WM 6.5, it is not just an upgrade. Think of it as a completely different product, because it really is. The OS and the hardware are very tightly integrated in mobile devices so you will probably have more trouble backporting a new WM7 phone to 6.5 that you will rewriting the system he needs, assuming it is his won work. Have you checked to see if the system runs on another OS such as blackberry or android?
Thank you for help.
The System works on on WM 6.5 !
if it is not possible to install WM 6.5 on a WM 7 device Do you think it can be done on an Android Device?

everything is possible. if you can run ubuntu on android y not windows??
Theoretically it is possible.
but how to do that practically ? this is the problem !!!
HD2 is almost hardware similair to HD7. There is also experimentally the way to update HD2 to WP7 from HD7. But HD2 is still native WM6.5.3 device.

Until cottula Didn´t release anything then you are gone. HD2 is "Native WM 6.5" Device So you can do on it upgrade! but you can´t downgrade to WM 6.1.. Same should be on HD7
Try to get HD2 in shop..

Practically yes! At this moment not! May be never too.
As I told - HD2 and HD7 have basically same hardware, but it doesnt mean that firmware from HD2 will work on HD7 without changes.
WP7 is already ported from HD7 to HD2, of course with some limitations and bugs in functionality.
To buy native wp 6.5 device (like HD2) via ebay is I think the best solution for you case.

I can make 6.1 for HD2 as I did For native wm 6.5.3 samsung b7350 by downgrading it to wm 6.1.
Its because wm 6.X and less has almost same kernel so you can update from 5.0 to 6.5 and vise versa if you know how. Also you can use all programs from wm 2003 on wm 6.5...
WP7 is totally new OS - new kernel, and is not compatible with older apps..
Believe or dont- MS has spent many years by sitting at one place without serious improvements to their mobile products.. till Google came up with its Android for kids and made revolution. Temporary! MS will fight back at the end of 2011 with New WP update on new Nokia with multicore.
Nokia put their last hope to survive into WP7 as Microsoft. So do they win or fail together we will se later

Not possible.
Contact your business carrier and see if they can get anything, otherwise tell boss it is no longer made and WP7 is not an upgrade but a new product which is incompatable and nowhere near as good as WM6.5.
Just tell him MS have lost the plot.

I feel your pain mate, WM6.5 was great and MS have taken a huge leap backwards. We're not alone either, their market share has plummetted due to the move as people have either desperately scrounged for WM6.5 devices or moved to Android and had their in house apps re-written or found new alternatives.
WP7 and winmo 6.5 are completely different and not backwards compatible as said above.
Winmo 6.5 was good, but Mango is promising, however, specifically written programs written for business are a different ball game, get on to ebay and buy some HD2's, unless you know a developer who can re-write the programme for WP7?

There is no Upgrading for the System !
I will try the HD2 Choice.
Thank you for your support.
The hd2 is awesome. I've had win6.5, win7, ubuntu and a ton of android versions on it. If you have an issue, just wipe it clean and start over.
