Launcher2 rotation? - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Does anyone have a modded stock GB2.3 launcher2.apk that does landscape/rotation from the home screen and app drawer? I'm running CM7 stable with ADW removed and things run alot smoother IMO but I'd like to get the rotation back without going to a different launcher.

Check out my thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025264&highlight=landscape+launcher
r2Doesinc created a ROM with a stock Gingerbread landscape launcher and I put it in a flashable zip. After you download the file flash it in recovery. It replaces your launcher with a stock Gingerbread landscape capable launcher. It allows the home screen and the app drawer to rotate into landscape. You can use the power control widget in CM 7 to lock portrait orientation. I'm currently using it with CM 7.0.3.1 without any problems.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for.

How can i standardise my app draw in CM7

On my stock 2.3.3 the applications in the app draw kind off drifted off, or under when scrolling. now i have CM7 rom on my nexus it seems to have other transitions but the applications flow off the screen.
Can i change it back to work like standard?
I think what you are referring to is that cm7 replaces the stock launcher/dock with adw launcher which does not have the 3d affect.
If you want the stock launcher back you can go to the market and search for Gingerbread Launcher by Eugene
Yeh found it last night. I much prefer it

Or you can go to the cyanomodegen forum (Nexus s themes subsection), grab the zip with the stock launcher and flash it. It replaces ADW launcher with the stock one (my current setup is CM7 + stock launcher + mattedblues theme - I love XDA ).
Sorry, but as a new user, I can't post direct links to other pages...

[Q] Stock Launcher smoother than Launcher Pro

I just got the Nexus S. Before installing CM 7 i tried out the stock launcher with a live wallpaper running. I was surprised at how smooth it was and that it had a very nice way of scrolling through the app drawer. After installing CM7 and launcher pro plus i noticed that opening the app drawer wasn't as smooth with a live wallpaper running and it didn't have the nice way of scrolling. Launcher pro has many more features but the stock did have that smoothness. Is there anyway to get this on launcher pro?
You could try playing with the settings and see if you can normalize it.
There are other alternatives to launchers if you like.
ADW Launcher EX (Paid), ADW Launcher (Free), GO Launcher EX, and more.

not sure what you mean by normailzing. also i would like to use launcher pro only. thanks!
Launcher pro is almost always smoother than stock launcher. But with live wallpaper I know what you mean with the choppy app drawer. Only solution is use static wallpaper instead.
damn that sucks..thanks anyways
The only launcher where the app drawer stays smooth with a live wallpaper selected is the stock launcher, all the other ones get choppy.

Here is a thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933517 it's a zip that removes adw and add stock launcher
Stock launcher is the only one that can use hardware acceleration therefore it will always be faster/smoother than any 3rd party launcher.
with the exception of UD Launcher which was used in nscollab for only two releases. Loved it because it was just as smooth and basically the same as the stock launcher but gave you more home-screens and a 5 button dock option and saved a lot of battery even!!!
But then again I guess it is based directly on the stock launcher - at least that'd be my guess.

yes it does, only on the nexus s so far with gingerbread. other phones it is powered by the CPU like normal. i guess google wanted to take advantage of the nexus s powerful hardware. just wish they did it for the rest of the phone, like the web browser, etc.
Yes that's true. Stock Launcher is smoother than ADW, ADW EX and LauncherPro.
I realized that a few weeks ago.
How do i enable the stock launcher? I downloaded Gingerbread Launcher from the market? is that the same thing?

3D Drawer Settings

Hi Guys.
I just rooted my Nexus S and installed CyanogenMod 7 (Stable). Everything is working fine but I have one possibly stupid question to ask.
Before when I had stock Android the app drawer had a 3D effect which is now gone. I have looked through both the Cyanogenmod settings and the ADW Launcher settings and I cant seem to find a way to enable it.
If someone could point me in the right direction I would be thankful.
Menu -> Settings -> ADW Launcher -> (I use ADW EX so it might appear different) UI Settings -> Drawer Settings -> App Drawer style
The ADW Launcher in CM7 is different from ADW EX and ADW Free on the market.
also launcher pro has the 3d app drawer effect, and its now working perfect on cyan 7. but to answer your question, cyan 7 comes wtih ADW lanucher, not the stock launcher. so ADW prob has to turn on that setting and it will work...or use launcher pro. or push the stock launcher back to your phone.
Thanks. I downloaded ADW Launcher EX from the Marketplace since that feature wasn't available in the Cyanogenmod version.
@ RogerPodacter
How would you go about pushing the stock launcher? As I also am running cm7 but want the stock launcher.
Thanks in advance.

get launcher2.apk and put it in /data/app or /system/app/ via adb / file manager
or find frank707's mod that removes adw and puts stock launcher, but you lose a lot of customization

ADW launcher update

I have the Heinz 57 loaded that comes with the adw launcher, the app in the market is a newer version, will it hurt anything to dl and update the launcher?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Heinz uses mr home. Its adw on crack. Got a few more features then straight adw. But you could use any launcher I would think
Tap-a-Talked
Actually Mr.home is adw launcher straight to the code. I noticed this while working on the apk for tfgas. I actually did not see on thing in it that was changed from adw launcher so in turn it is the the same.
All it has is from I remember in gas's vid is the screen animations for uot kitchen added. I could be work on that part but all mr. home is over regular adw is the animations.

It doesn't play well with live wallpapers where ADW works just fine - but otherwise I think you're right just different animations.
As far as updates, it shouldn't hurt to update it...it's just an app that dfgas has preloaded in the rom.
That is odd but it truely is adw launcher. Watch it when you install it or tfgas's rom you get a little pop up for the changelog As for messing with anything no matter of rom you can install a different launcher. Just install it and hit the home button then set which ever to default. If you want to switch back to the old launcher download home switcher from the market.
I believe that is the name any way
You can also just go to settings- apps- manage apps, and clear defaults for the launcher. Then when you hit the home key it'll ask you which one to use again.

[Q] Working custom icons in ICS?

Desktop vizualizer makes icfons at half size, with no way to fix as far as i can tell, i've told them but have gotten no reply.
folder organizer items work, but it places the shortcuts as a widget instead of a shortcut like it did in honeycomb.
so right now i have no way to add normal shortcuts to my homescreen with a custom icon.
does anyone have any apps that work properly?
I used adw for my custom shortcuts
Sent from my Cornerstone powered Team EOS TF101
not really a lot of help. i'm not asking for a custom launcher. ICS launcher is just fine. i just want to be able to actually make custom icons like i could in honeycomb.
i find it really hard to believe that no one running this tablet on ICS with a stock launcher is using custom icons. come on.

Have you tried Nova Launcher? Its basically the Stock Launcher, but allows for editing/resizing Icons and Widgets. Plus, you can install Icon packs for ADW and manually assign Icons of your choice to whatever you want...then resize them if you want.
Nova has a free version, and a Prime version with a few extra fun features. Both are in the Market.
yeah i've tried nova and the others, and personally i don't like/want to use them. i find the stock launcher just fine.
i'm just annoyed because for the first time in android history, i can't make custom icons work right. and i'm just shocked that it seems that no one else here is using custom icons on a stock launcher.
there are some ics roms out there already? are you rooted?

So you seem to be stuck on using the Stock launcher.
Well if you had tried Nova as you said, then I got to know, what about Nova didn't you like? I mean, Nova is basically stock from the look, and it adds the ability to use custom icons or ones from an icon pack, and allows you to resize them...which is what you are complaining about.
So, what is it about needing/wanting to use stock launcher, when Nova is stock with a few added features, one of which is using custom icons.
i don't have my TF rooted, so i lose the widgets menu, it doesn't have the tablet transitions, app drawer is 5x5 instead of 8x5. and to be honest, it's not as smooth as the stock ics launcher for me.
and honestly, i'm just still in a shock that apparently everyone is just using nova or adw.
i refuse to believe that i am the only person on this forum with an ICS transformer that is using the stock launcher with custom icons. that cannot be possible.
