Keyboard Lag - T-Mobile LG G2x

Anyone have a keyboard lag fix for the leaked gingerbread build or for Eaglesblood? The lag is just ridiculous.
I've tried installing the Gingerbread keyboard from the market, no luck. Some people say to turn off haptic feedback in the keyboard settings, but I don't have that option in settings.

Wrong thread.....
G2X

This goes in General. And yes there is a fix in the respective threads. Both roms are based off the leaked GB and is a known issue.
Download the GB keyboard from the market.

also have lag on the keyboard on gingerbread

I've had great success using an alternative sms program ie chomp sms from the app store. I'm using swype but again both the gingerbread keyboard and swype keyboard were having the same huge lag issue. It was almost intolerable. I installed chomp sms and disabled the standard message app and everything is running absolutely crystal smooth.... Running eagle blood... Good luck!

I'm using Smart Keyboard seems to be helping with lag also has an option to disable period button because I'm always hitting it accidentally. It will make space bar bigger if you disable period button.

keyboard

Hey, what keyboard do you guys use? I've started using the gingerbread one that comes with the virus rom instead of the stock HTC one. The stock one always seems to get in the way of the "send" button when it shows suggestions. I know there's swiftkey and betterkeyboard etc. as well. What do you guys use?
I use smart keyboard pro. It can look just like the stock HTC but you can also remove the arrows. Its pretty good with predictive text and awesome with dev support.
Flex T9 for me. Combines swype, T9, voice to text, and handwriting recognition. By far one of the most powerful keyboards I've used.

I'm using the gingerbread keyboard from the app market. i like it. It made me forget about hardware keyboards....
I was using Swype beta since my G1 and on multiple devices since but for some reason, it doesn't recognize much of what I'm trying to type on the Thunderbolt, not sure if it's the version or what. But i switched to the GB keyboard and it works great so far... In landscape, it is very easy to type quickly on this large screen.

I use smart keyboard pro with the tron theme, the black with blue glowing ring is easy on my eyes...
But I noticed when installing it has a lot of access to your phone, so whenever typing important info or credit card numbers I always switch back to the touch input real quick...

hah, i never thought of that. but i do also use smart keyboard pro

Swype not auto spacing in sms

So I don't seem to have a problem with swype any where but in the stock sms app. No problem in the xda app, or browser. I am trying tk run the phone 100% stock at the moment, so I don't want to install hand cent yet. Any ideas?

known issue with the swype beta...
There's a swype that works on this phone, and some other apps similar to swype. Search the forums and you'll find what you're looking for. I don't think I can post a URL for you but it's all here. I found it by searching google.
Yes, it is a known issue with the Swype Beta on Thunderbolt. No automatic capitalization or spacing using the Sense SMS. Also, Swype will occasionally crash, requiring you to select the stock keyboard and switch back before it starts working again. Give SwiftKey a try (I'm really enjoying SwiftKey right now) or search for an older version of Swype which will work on the Thunderbolt. Another option would be to use Handcent. Good Luck!
Handcent works great.

i found going to tesla rom allowed swype to work but yeah handcent is not a bad alternative
FlexT9... Blows Swype out of the water.

I've had Swype since my last phone (original droid), so using it seemed like second nature to me. A lot of people really like Swiftkey X too.
Smart keyboard

smart keyboard pro for me. simple, accurate enough, no extra bells and whistles and lots of skins. I'm not a huge fan of 'swiping' to text and don't care about all the herp derp super accurate word prediction stuff thats a big issue with a lot of people
blazing through on my 4G Droid Charge
The latest Swype beta.
I have fat fingers so. I need something that I can adjust the height. Of. The keys. So. Yeah...

Better Keyboard
Stock gingerbread or Swype.
Stock GB is the only keyboard without lag, in my experience. If it wasn't for the lag I would say Smart Keyboard. SwiftKey would be amazing if it had an option to make the space bar larger. My texts are full of extra periods throughout from using it.

SwiftKey X is the best I have used, and once it learns your style, sometimes you can just use the predictions.

Smart KB Pro is hands down my favorite.

I use this themed version of HTC IME mod. just unzip and install apk. then go to settings, keyboards and check box. has tons of settings for key adjustment ,Smileys etc.if it has any lag,its faster than I can type
I alternate between SwiftKeyX which I love and the standard Samsung keyboard which always works.
By that I mean the SwiftKeyX hangs on most drop-down boxes on sites. For example, when selecting state for shipping, it will hang after selecting the drop-down. Otherwise it learned my typing style and works great!
For anything with an address, I switch back to the Samsung keyboard which is functional like the IOS keyboard.
I am hoping that when I root and update my phone, SwiftKeyX will work better.

Swype

Anyone else notice that this version of swype is horrible? Anyone have workarounds or fixes? It hardly ever gets words right.

I'm using stock right now and hating it. I used the beta on my fascinate and liked it. I'll have to switch.

I thought the stock “Swype” was so bad that I was going to send the phone back. Got Swype Beta and it made all the difference in the world.
BigK52
I have to agree about Swype, I feel like the latest update has been a step back. My complaints are:
1) they removed the "delete whole words" shortcut found in the menu when you Swype to the #5
2) I dislike how my Swype button rarely highlights a word so I can change it. Sometimes it will just keep going to the beginning of every word until it gets to the beginning of the sentence/paragraph.
3) the responsiveness for punctuation seems to miscalculate and place an error more frequently than I've seen in prior versions.
It feels like a step back although not much is missing. I've been using it for roughly a year so I know how far Swype has come.

Yeah, the stock swype keyboard is frickin awful. My accuracy with swype beta is probably > 90%. With stock swype it was probably < 50%. What a POS.

Best first post ever!
Wow.....just installed swype beta instead of this stock samsung crap that was on before. Probably 96% accurate now instead of ~50%. It's now bearable to put text down with just one thumb again Now I just want that microphone icon on the swype keyboard so I can talk if I wanted.
I have been using Swype since my OG Droid and I don't think I could ever use another keyboard again. One tip I have is to turn off the auto-correct, especially useful if you use any shorthand or slang in texts etc.
SlimSnoopOS - I totally agree on #2, I hate that it only highlights the previous word about 25% of the time now. I can't figure it out, its like its totally random now...
I was a huge fan of Swype. After changing android phones without Swype on it, I started looking. Amazon offered Flex T-9 as the free app of the day some time ago which I lucked up and downloaded for free. This is the BEST app out there right now.
Not sure if they have a free trial, but it's definitely worth the money!

Agreed, stock swype is awful. It seems that it's attempt at "learning" has actually made it worse. I feel like it was more accurate 3 weeks ago than it is now.

The voice detection is still there, it's just the flame icon now (at the bottom right next to the Search/Return button).
The icon change was because Swype was bought by Nuance, which also owns Dragon Naturally Speaking (the flame logo). They are branding the voice search, which is why the icon has changed. I hope this also leads to some under-the-hood improvements thanks to the merger.
You can consider using Swiftkey 3 as well
I find it to be a lot better at text prediction although it may not work for those who prefer swyping
Just saying thanks guys. Beta Swype is awesome and is a million times more accurate than stock solution.

Look at the ICS and JB keyboards that VLLLW developed. You can find them in Google Play. I currently use the JB keyboard and I loooove it. Another keyboard you can try out is the GOkeyboard, also found in Google Play. I've had some lag issues with the GOkeyboard though. However, that was also when I didn't manage my device well at all.

Never liked go keyboard myself. I like better keyboard from Amazon app store. Also perfect keyboard from play store is good too. Both will cost a couple dollars, but better keyboard has followed me from 2 phones and about 50 ROMs. The themes for them are gold too.

SwiftKey!
Hackers Keyboard from the Play store.
Free and great for tty and such. Full 5 rows in landscape mode. Ctrl, arrows, etc.
Also... CM 10 Jelly is faster than any stock ROM on the Infuse. Just awesome. The new JellyBean 4.2 has a great swipe feature. Solid...

Hackers keyboard, was so happy when I found this a must have for SSH and VDP.
For my phone I've always liked the swype that came with it, seems to be the smoothest and most accurate IMO
