They announced it as a target market for end of the year expansion, but to be on so soon? Hmm, I'll check when I go to Allentown this weekend.

tether it to your computer and give an accurate number... the buffers on a cell phone give false reading ... our probably around 15 down and 6 up which is still fast as hell

ha, this thread made me turn LTE back on to see if they had flipped anything here in Raleigh, NC. But they haven't.

ha they turned it off again lol... bastards. On all day and boom went off

I'm here in Kutztown, was going to check. Since you said it is now off, I'll just keep my 4G disabled...
What part of the Lehigh Valley, if you don't mind me asking?
Also, on a side note, for those of you in non-4G areas, wanting an easier way to disable your 4G, there is an app that easily does it for you. Its called Phone info, and it is free in the Market made by a company called "[email protected]" Enjoy.

I'm in the scranton/wilkes-barre area. Wtf verizon. If they get it, so should I! LOL

Verizon did just add the Bethlehem, Allentown, Easton Leigh Valley area to their list of cities getting 4G, if they turned it on this is great news. I am in Clinton, NJ half the year, it's the middle of nowhere but 4G is a few miles from my house to the east, and Easton is just like 20-30 minutes to the west, maybe 15-20 miles. If the 4G spreads east and west to meet up by May I will be very happy.

Sweet! I'm in the Emmaus area. Going to check it out soon.

I am also here in the Lehigh Valley more specifically Bethlehem and I also saw that 4G was available through my Thunderbolt however at night my phone no longer showed that 4G was available but this morning my phone is showing that I am connected to 4G again.

Getting 4G today in Allentown but not last night in Emmaus. Will try again tonight at home.

Awesome. I have yet to notice any 4G. I live on Bethlehem, but I work out in fogelsville by rt 100. Where in Bethlehem did you see it?

Im getting it throughout bethlehem.. all the way from southside up to wegmans. Its blazing! Just wish they would keep it on lol... yesterday they turned it off around 7pm. I frowned.

Most likely they're just doing rolling tests to see if there are even people connecting to 4G and to make sure the network is stable.

Im in south Bethlehem and going through speedtest.net the website I was seeing speed around 30 down and 5 up. However my Thunderbolt no longer shows 4G it stopped showing it around 2:50 today

30 MB down, that is just sick speeds. I live in suburb of Boston and my brother in law brought his new Thunderbolt over to my house to make me pissed, he did, I'm getting about 5.5 MB down on my rooted and loaded Nexus One and thinking that was pretty damn fast he showed me that Verizon's new 4G was in fact on in my area showing about 2-3 bars inside my house and he was getting a whopping 16 MB down and some crazy # that must be wrong. Very impressive phone, I will have one by tomorrow evening. $30.00 for unlimited data is a fantastic deal. Outside he was showing 4 bars and something like 20+ MB down. Unbelievable. Absolutely fantastic device, HTC and Google make the best phones IMO.

Sadly No sign of 4G here in Bethlehem today even though there was 4G yesterday and tuesday

LTE in the Lehigh Valley PA was slower than a dog this morning. Literally couldnt do anything with it - 3G was way faster. FIgured it was a problem on their end and it would be fixed. I normally get 15-18 down, 5 up on speakeasy.net...
Just tried LTE to see if its fixed...now getting 35 down 6 up on speakeasy...
Guess they upgraded something???

There has been many problems with the network over the past few days. Give it some time for Verizon to work out the problems. We are Guinea pigs anyways.

Weekend of April 8/9, I was in A-Town, a mile west of Dorney Park, visiting Mom.
Downloads were 30-40mbps.. so what you are seeing isn't new to me
Oh, btw, speakeasy testing to phily gives me slower speeds than testing to Baltimore for some reason.

I work in Allentown and live in N Whitehall Township so I can speak to these issues as well.
From about yesterday around 4:30 PM until today around 2:30 PM I had 1X and even 3G wasn't stable. I figured it was my phone so I've been working with it to work out the issues but now I figure it's the network. LTE came back in Allentown around 2:30 and it was solid until I left around 4:30.
Now that I'm back up in N Whitehall Twp I've fallen back to 1X/3G and have no LTE. This is on my Bolt and on my Mifi so I figure it's maintenance.
I did have a meeting with Verizon yesterday at our office and they did mention they were doing maintenance in our area but from what I could tell it was working in Allentown this afternoon. Hopefully it comes back tonight here in NW!

living in Bethlehem right here and everything seems fine to me

Drove I476 north... lost 4g just before Villanova/St David (exit 13)... didn't have it again until I got off the turnpike in Allentown.
Have had 4g at Mom's, a couple miles west of Dorney Park...

I haven't had 4G at home all weekend on my Bolt or my LTE Mifi. I'm just glad it's not the phone.

4G in Colorado Springs, CO

Great news for the people of Colorado Springs, Colorado. 4G has hit different parts of the city. I was driving up at have hit 4G twice. 4G is still spotty and will be released to the entire city, with an official release by the end of the year. You can find 4G coverage in parts of Briargate (locals will know this area) and parts of downtown. I only had 4G for a matter of minutes, but after being with Denver and messing around with 4G I am very excited to have LTE in the area.

I'm jealous. Where I work in Northglenn (about 6 miles north of downtown Denver) I had 4G for a good two weeks but it has disappeared.

That's what I'm hoping too.....its just around the corner and I am surprised Colo Spgs, is getting it so early.

I was under the impression that VZ stated in an official release (prior to the TB release) that COS was getting 4G in the first half of 2011. So I'm not so sure we can call this early...but I'm excited to see it fully implemented.

From what I hear from a buddy, Ft Collins is just about to be turned on full time, hopefully both cities get flipped on together. Wish Verizon wasn't so "hush hush" about proposed dates.

4G - Raleigh/Durham Area July 21

Just read in the heraldsun.com, VZW just announced 4G available in the Raleigh/Durham area on July 21.

I will be in Durham all week, can't wait for it to go live. Also saw the Winston Salem post that's its going live. I live in Winston and glad I will hopefully not have to go back to 3g when I get home.

Good for you guys! We've had it here in Charlotte for quite a while and it really does live up to all the hype. The LTE handsets actually get better speeds than our LTE modems at work. My brother-in-law lives in Cary, so I'm hoping it's included in the coverage area.

Anyone actually seen 4g kick in yet. I am right next to duke university and still on 3g. Figured it would be active if it was actually happening today. 6 pm local time.

It happened to me too. !!!!

So I wonder when the "new" towers are supposed to go live...my service couldn't be any worse the past few weeks both in rtp and apex, apex being so bad I get 450-500kb down on 3g, all phones not just tbolt

So this supports the suggestion that it'll be up this week, but coming along with some trouble, I'm curious if others are seeing the same.
I had 4g for a good 3 hours this morning at work in Zebulon, got anywhere between 11 and 18 mbps down via speakeasy. That I assume was them cycling/testing towers some more. Problem is, for the last 2 hours I've had no data at all, no 3g, not even text messaging. Seem to have voice signal but that's it. Anybody else seen the same this morning?

Durham/Morrisville seems to be fine when it comes to 4G. The download speeds are pretty sub-par from what I've seen reported before in other LTE areas (getting about 4-4.5mbps), but I'm assuming they are just testing the network today and have it limited a bit. 3G seems to be messing up with slow speeds/connectivity issues but voice is alright.

LTE in Honolulu, HI (island of Oahu)

Since the launch of the very first broadband lte hotspots and the thunderbolt Oahu had lte sites in only 2 locations; Mililani Tech and near Honolulu International Airport.
I've been leaving my lte off as a daily driver and just using cdma (auto) to help save the battery. Usually every 3 days or so I try and set to lte only to test and see if VZW decided to turn on the rest of the island with lte. Woke up this morning and I had no idea what compelled me to try it but I did... BOOM I see the most magnificent icon that I've never seen in my area. That 4g lte icon. Woke me up better than coffee could ever do.
It's now all over the island. =)

Just moved to Hawaii this week, and was pretty happy to see LTE up and running well ahead of the announced July 21st date. I'm noticing a huge difference between here and Pensacola/Houston/San Antonio... latency in those areas was ~100ms or less, but everywhere I've tested in Honolulu, I'm getting results around 400ms. Not that it's terribly relevant to me, but I'm curious. Any ideas why?

Yah, its been on and off for a while not. A few weeks ago they announced it was officially launching on July 31st and its been on since.
I really don't recommend leaving your phone connected to 4g... My phone lasts all of half a day, I charge it at work after lunch and again before I go to bed. I don't talk on my phone at all or play much games on it lol.

Just left oahu. When I landed 2 weeks ago, I was pleasantly surprised that they had 4g.
