Anyone else noticing that the messaging shortcut from the homescreen kind of does whatever it wants? Sometimes it takes me to the threaded view of my SMS message conversations. Which is what I want. But most of the time it either takes me to the last app I had open like the back button does, or it takes me to my most recent conversation and when I hit the back button to see all my conversations I get sent back to the home screen, or it just randomly throws me into email or my music player. Can't seem to figure out why its doing that.

Sorry if this has been asked, but is there a way that when you open the messages app it goes to the new messages rather than your last screen? It seems silly that the phone knows I have new messages to view, but instead takes me to the last message I was in.
You can try using alternative SMS apps and see if they have a feature like that.
I know GO SMS (and handcent and others) have a notification pop up when someone texts you. Pressing on that pop up would bring you to that particular SMS thread.
When I have the little pink colored circle show up with the quantity of messages inside of it (1) (2) or whatever the number is, when I hit the messaging icon there is a delay and the phone lag's when it organizes the messages or brings the most recent one to the top.
I basically hit the messaging icon and it takes me to my messages but the phone takes a solid second to organize itself. Essentially the screen show's that no messages are new then it updates after a second and pushes the most recent to the top.
Is anyone else experiencing this? It's annoying as hell.
Also when I send a text, the revolving "please wait" circle is terrible. I am generally typing another text right after I send one, as weird as that sounds, and the "please wait" thing takes a solid second before you can start typing again.
Ouch you are serious? That was main reason I replaced my myTouch 4G and went to a stock android phone.
Actually, use another SMS client, i forget the name, Handcent SMS
I works same, and you won't have any of that lagg of "Please wait"
I have a Galaxy S3 and use SwiftKey 3 and Go SMS. Quite frequently when I try to compose a text I can hit buttons on the keyboard but nothing is being entered into Go SMS. This can be remedied by hitting back twice to go back to the list of ongoing sms conversations, and then re-entering the conversation again. Anybody know how to fix this?
Wondering if anyone knows all of the texting apps that have the ability to enable a multi-second delay before sending the message. For example, with ChompSMS you can enable 'Delayed Sending' which gives you options of 1 second, 1.5 seconds, 2 seconds, 2.5 seconds, and 3 seconds. With this feature enabled, after you hit SEND in the app, you see a short progress bar counting down the seconds and the SEND button changes to STOP so that, if you notice any typos/mistakes/etc, you can hit STOP before those 3 seconds are up and the message will not be sent. Handcent also had this feature too, but I am not aware of any other apps that have this feature and it really is a must-have for me.
I also like the ability to reply from notifications in my texting app (i.e. Sliding Messaging, stock message app) but ChompSMS does not have this (I'm on Jelly Bean 4.3 running CM 10.2). Unfortunately ChompSMS does not have expandable notifications yet that allow me to reply from (instead of having to open up the entire app) so I am looking into alternative text apps with this delayed feature. Ideally, I'd like to find an app that has this multi-second delay before sending as well as expandable notifications that you can reply from (i.e. Sliding Messaging). I dont like intrusive 'pop-ups' that display on your phone for every message you get, I'd rather just be able to reply from the notification bar for certain messages.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
Go sms has that feature. A little countdown on the send button pops up and you can cancel it. But it's a premium feature, so I believe there's a ONE TIME fee... But I know for a fact it has it.. And it also has a pop up message option which I think pops up in front of other apps and you can simply reply from there... 'GOSMS' PLAYSTORE

The incoming call pop-up thingy is annoying me daily. The buttons are very small, and when I end a call I sometimes click after the other person has ended it so I then start to send a text message (same place button).
I have gone into apps and blocked the popup notifications for all 3 call apps, & the contacts app, and then I went to apps the can appear on top and turned off some stuff there as well, but still the popup stays.
So I would just like to have the normal call screen, at all times. The same one you get when you start a call yourself.
Is there a way, without rooting, to do this?
I've seen the google dialer apk which would probably fix it, but rather have stock dialer if possible.
It's in settings for Messages but not for Phone. Could be different for different Roms.
There is a line in phone preferences xml called "call_popup_preference"
If you're rooted you could try flipping that to false.
