[Q] Maybe someone cah help and point me in the right direction! - General Questions and Answers

Hi
I have a question. It is to do with a Chinese Mobile phone. Branded "European Phone 5" it is an Apple iPhone clone. It claims to have 32 Gig memory but I can only see 84 MByte. There are no Apps Download facility and or Marketplace.
The specifications include:
32 Gig
Dual SIM
Analogue TV (With Ariel)
FM Radio
Bluetooth
WiFi
GSensor (Which I cannot get to work)
It has Java installed but again, it does not run.
Connectivity side, even though I have WiFI enabled and connected through my router, it still insists on internet access through GPRS only (So why have WiFi)
The reason for this post is these are becoming ever popular devices in Europe and need someone far cleaver then me to manipulate,
I do not know the Processor, Radio or OS of this device. I presume some form of Windows (UGH) because of Java, but cannot be sure. There is no website for the device and no markings inside except for two EIME Numbers for the SIM's External markings are:
Apple Logo
iPhone
32 Gig
Designed bt Alooc in Celifaci Acimbled on China
Model NO:C1203 pcc ID: BCCA1203 Serial No.: 7572740SNH8
I have successfully Rooted my HTS Kaiser and run Android 2.2 (Froyo) successfully on it. I am comfortable with Rooting mobile devices but I need somewhere to start.
If anyone can help - that would be great.

Turning off MMV....
In preloader
PSR=600000df
wait ~20min -> no changes..
P.S. Is any custom ROMs for htc 5588 pure (clone)
Thanks..
ROMs are created to work on specific devices. I doubt if anybody is developing for clone models!

[Q] Flashing of Chinese MTK6516 phones

Hi,
I have Chinese clone with MTK6516 chipset (Smasung i9000 mini). I need to flash a new ROM to this phone to fix some problems. I have all the SW I need, but I'm having problems to connect the phone to my PC.
The only information on flashing the phone I found was on some Chinese forums. If I understood it correctly I need a cable with USB on one end and 3,5mm jack on the other side. I could do such cable by myself, but I need to know the pinout. Do you have any information regarding this?
Anyone here??? I want to know the same too.
I asked the supplier and they told me that I need to have a special cable. So I ordered it and it should be on it's way. I expect to receive it next week.
What is the cable ?
It's a special cable with USB and miniUSB connectors. But there is some electronics attached to the USB connector, it's not just a cable.
If you connect it to a computer, it creates a virtual COM port.
Where I can buy it ?
For example here, but it's quite expensive.

A8000 Led Light Working?
Whoever has one of these phones, have you been able to use the led camera light as a flash light? None of the apps on the market work. I know for like the A5000 or related phones, you have to change the camera lib files, but would they work for A8000? I just dont want to brick my phone.
Right now all I have is rooted, nothing else has been done, no backup or nothing because I don't know what program to back up stock rom. If anyone reads this, thanks for the help!

Bluetooth DUN on CM 7.1.0

Hi all,
I spent a couple of days Googling around, trying to get Bluetooth DUN working on Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 on my Viewsonic GTablet.
After some hacking around with the source, I got it working. I can connect my GTablet to the internet through my Blackberry Torch on Rogers (in Ontario, Canada).
I've already posted my notes to the CM forums, but apparently since I'm a noob here I can't post the link to it, so here's my notes (direct copied from the CM forums):
Dial-up networking requires the chat binary, which is included in the standard Linux ppp package. For some reason, this binary was omitted from the Android ppp package, so I downloaded the Android 2.3.7 source, copied the chat source in to the Android ppp package and built it from scratch. The instructions for this were found at afewe DOT wordpress DOT com/android-arm-development/use-point-to-point-protocol-ppp-in-android/
Once the chat binary is installed in the proper location on the Android device (/system/bin/chat) it's just a matter of writing a pppd config and chatscript for your given provider. These configs can be found in the berry4all package at berry4all DOT com.
I copied the 'rogers' file from that package and put it in /etc/ppp/peers/rogers, then the rogers-chat file and put it in /etc/ppp/chatscripts/rogers-chat.
I modified the /etc/ppp/peers/rogers so that the last line, which calls the chat binary, reflected the proper locations of the binary and the chat script.
Finally, I removed the 'novj' option from the pppd config. Once the config was all up and ready to go, I went to the terminal and did:
$ su
# rfcomm bind /dev/rfcomm0 <BT MAC> <channel>
# pppd call rogers
And voila! A stable, bluetooth dial-up network connection through my phone.
I just wanted to throw out my notes first to make people aware that its possible and easy. If there's enough interest, I'll write a more detailed and specific step-by-step howto on getting it set up.
Hi,
I see that CM 7.1 includes "bluetooth tether" support now but it's not clear to me what this actually is. Does CM 7.1 include the DUN bluetooth profile? It sounds like you're using reverse tethering, i.e. you are using a Blackberry's data connection so you're using the DUN profile on the Blackberry and are using the CM device as a client?
I have a stock Desire S and am looking for DUN support so I can use the internet access in my car through the Desire's 3G connection. The car supports only DUN and PDANet doesn't work for some reason.
Thanks,
Tim
Looks like you're out of luck.... same story for my Benz with Comand Online Navcom system.
If you drive an MB like me, you'll have to wait for an update later this year (from MB that is)... or buy a BlackBerry.

Is it confirmed that mercedes benz are providing this update?

I very much doubt it (I'm also trying to get it working with Comand Online).

From the press release:
"An option for customers having phones without DUN support is the Mercedes-Benz “Bluetooth (SAP) telephone module - V4″, available early 2012. The new version (V4) offers UMTS capability, allowing fast data connection using customer SIM card or accessing SIM information from SAP (SIM Access Profile) enabled mobile phone."
and:
"... Furthermore Mercedes-Benz is in close talks with leading Android phone vendors to enable the DUN feature in their phones by default."
(I have Android 2.3 and Windows Phone 7.5 devices)
Yes, so we can pay £400 for a SAP module or buy a new phone if anyone actually launches an Android handset with DUN - remembering that Google appear to have zero interest so it will be manufacturer specific. Oh yes, I nearly forgot - Android doesn't have SAP profile support either!
I'd say the chances of Mercedes updating existing systems to work with phones which don't support DUN is virtually zero. Hardly ideal on a system which cost £2000...
Cheers,
Tim
I agree. It was a huge mistake of MB to go with this dead BT DUN protocol!
I thought Android phones do support SAP, isn't that why the car can dial a contact?

'fraid not, that uses PBAP (phone book access protocol).

Wishlist, Perfect device: Netflix dual/quadCPU 2+MP 1gbRAM 8gb ir-mote GigEth

In looking at all these AndroidTV devices I noticed that they all are missing key features that I am looking for...
Maybe if they are seeking info for future devices they may look here for what I would consider theoretical perfection:
Buildprop that allows almost all apps to be installed from the market (maybe some Samsung device as a "buildprop" I think I have heard it referenced as...) This shouldn't be an issue as they don't care about counterfeiting, nor copywrites?
Netflix installable and functioning, without a garbled stream
Camera 2.0MP MINIMUM
Dual to Quad Core
1GB RAM and 8GB flash minimum
IR remote that functions well, and the OS keeps up with every controller button press (unlike FiosDVR or DirecTV's Genie, and MiniClients that LAG BAD)
RJ45 10/100/10000 AND 802.11N [MiMo also?] (not just 10/100 or not just A/B/G WiFi)
Top of TV mountable, or TV stand/desktop-ish sitting with rubber feet to prevent sliding
Pre-rooted, just install "*su" from market?
Just trying to get the word out, if they in fact paroose this forum.
If anyone knows of a device that is up to MY specs above, let me know, I can't find one on eBay (but before posting one check the specs again, as most do not have 90% of what I listed above)...
I've been waiting for a year too, now the cpu speed and memory look promising..
Top of my list is this combo (device+hub/stand), no gigabit tho.

2) 4.2 ROM coming soon
3) Finless, an admin at Freaklabs bought one
4) its very similiar to the MK908
