No LED App - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hello there fellow G2X (The best phone ever) owners.
I've found a really cool app for the No LED notifications "Issue".
The app is called NO LED. The App displays custom notification icons on the screen when msgs are received. Its also color coded so a Red envelope could mean your gmail, blue envelope voicemail, etc etc. U can also set it so that it doesnt light up in your pocket only when its out of your pocket so it doesnt waste battery. Its just like having an LED notification in that you just look at your phone without touching it and seeing if you have msgs.
I love that App and its free. just wanted to share with the forum
Enjoy

Yea but we have a LCD not amoled like the program was designed for.
Amoled screens can light up several pixels where LCD can't. I think it is a big battery waster to have the screen on like that. What if its on your desk for 30min and the screen is on?
Its better to use the touch buttons notification we already have. Might not tell you what kind of message you have but lets be honest, if you have any kind of message your going to unlock the phone and read it.

I keep my phone in a holster and have the settings to not light up when its in my pocket/holster. I tried looking up that app lg 02x touch led notifications but it didnt come up on the market

I found it. But it doesn't work for some reason on my phone.
*** Ok got it to work

I have not been able to find the led notification. Will it drain my battery life?

It doesnt drain mine at all. I couldnt find it either under o2x but if you search for led notifocation its 4th or 5th down and its called 02x so i dont lnow why its not finding it
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App

It doesn't work for exchange accounts so it's useless to me, but for those who receive their emails through gmail, it's a benefit.

I dont have a NS yet...I have been reading the boards and trying to decide if I want one but I have a Fascinate and since its been rooted and debinged its a good phone but stock it was crap. I use something called BLN to notify me when I have a text or email. It lights up your buttons at the bottom. Its in the market but I think your rom has to be made to use it..I'm not sure about that but you might want to investigate that...it works better than NoLED.
I have no led running now. It works. I have it set to blink So it flashes the TV off animation which is cool.
Honestly. If You already have a galaxy s phone don't bother with the ns. I had my n1 since the day it came out I needed a new phone. There are many things ivwill miss about it. Like the desktop doc.....
More threads about this? Really? Can we have a mod lock this please...

Best buy couldn't get my upgrade info so I paid full pop. Was on phone with t mobile and bestbuys system couldn't get it happening so I can still get another phone suplimented. Tried a mytouch 4g but returned it. So much t-mobile garbage on it plus gotta pay for wifi teather
BLN ftw, wait for a kernel that implements BackLightNotifications and then download Blinky which makes your softkey's blink ever few seconds when you get notifications.
So awesome. 3 out of 4 calls ended with the phone restarting
Sounds you guys are having even more trouble than Galaxy S phones, I hope it gets sorted out soon.
I can deal with a dropped call but having the phone restart wtf.... I may un install everything and go from there adding one app at a time

Left hole (circle) is the proximity sensor. Right hole (oval kinda) is the ambient light sensor. Hope this helps.
Does this phone even have a led notification light? thats the dots next to the earpiece right?
I ask because on my phone, i never get any LED flashing notifications when i receive a text, email, miss phone call, or etc.
Ive searched all throughout my settings but to no avail.. help?
Thats not an LED. It doesnt have one! Search. Its been discussed over and over again

[Q] Led notifications

I don't think we can ..... anyone know different? Maybe when there is the keyboard dock, does anyone have that yet?

good call, but I'm hoping for real led, like what I have gotten used to on the desire. its probably won't matter as I can't put the thing down.

Little O/T but after switching from N1 to NS, the lack of LED notifications was a bit wierd. BUT noLED is great and I actually prefer it over the LED blinking now.

NoLED wouldn't be good for the Transformer. NoLED was designed around OLED devices, that can have most of the screen off, and only a few pixels on at a time, with very little battery drain.
An LCD on the other hand, would be fully on, and drain the battery like crazy.
I quite liked the vertically long LED on the Xoom. Not something I'll particularly miss, but it felt rather familiar.
This doesn't seem like much of a problem to me really. My N1 makes a noise/LED lights for a notification, I pick up the tablet and check it. I have a different notification tone for both text messages and general notifications, so this system works well for me.
Perhaps when the dock gets released, we can repurpose the caps lock LED to be a notifications LED... I'm not sure how well that would work, or even if it would be neccessary?

what's the point of the notification LED?

It lacks brightness and is hidden behind the speaker grill, I can barely see it light up most of the time. What a waste.
It is duller than I'd like but unless it is in direct sunlight, I have no problem seeing it. I wish it wads a little brighter though.
At least is has one. A lot of android phones don't.
I want to know if anyone has figured out how to make it stay on longer than 5 minutes

Green has been HTC's standard notification color since the g1 first came out. Once the device is rooted you'll be able to use LED color changing apps.
I was wondering, there is another whole on the opposite side of the front reading facing camera and the notification led. I wonder why htc put that there it seems to have no purpose. That probably could have been a nice place to put the notification led.

It's most likely the ambient light sensor, or the motion sensor that shuts the screen off when you place the phone by your face.

If rooting will allow me to change the LED to something a little more noticeable (red might work well I would think), that might be ideal.
So far, the green barely stands out, especially since my desk is next to a window with ambient sunlight.

I believe that we only have 2 colors to choose from, the green and the abmer, the one that comes up when charging phone. I always had the amber on my HD2 and it was always visible. Hope we could do the same on this phone later.

The LED light can actually produce multiple colors but like someone said. It's not possible until it's rooted unless the application your using gives you the option.

If you use a 3rd part text messaging application like Chomp or Hancent it gives you the option to make your LED multiple colors plus the option of how long you want it to stay on.

I hope this isn't the case. The Thunderbolt can do Red, Green, Pink, Blue and White.
i like having a notification led, as opposed to the Vibrant, which didn't have one. I just wish it lasted longer than 5 minutes.
There is an app for the g2x that pulses the four bottom buttons for notifications. its pretty spiffy...i wrote the developer he said it's possible it could work on the sensation but he doesn't have one to try it out.
It would be a pretty nice option to have because I agree, the led as is is pretty much invisible

NoLED Broken on Sensation?

Has anyone used the "Blink" feature of NoLED?
It seems that when I enable the "Blink" feature, the screen never turns off for notifications. It just stays on wasting away battery, which defeats the purpose of the feature.
Has anyone been able to use this feature successfully?
Doh, the app developer has confirmed that it looks like it's caused by Sense 3.0:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15044056&postcount=2657
Does anyone have a NoLED alternative?
Just looking for something that will continue to vibrate/make sounds if a notification hasn't been looked at, but without keeping the screen on permanently.
Missed Call Deluxe? I believe its working fine for me...
Wouldn't recommend this app on anything besides an amoled screen.

Why?
Not sure if you knew this but you can set it to turn off the screen via proximity sensor (when in your pocket/bags/etc) so it doesn't waste battery.

Amoled will only turn on a few pixels for the icon rather than the whole screen. Even if it's off for proximity sensor you'll likely still run into sleep issues due partial wakelock to activate the sensor.

I would have thought the same thing. Only rather than wake lock issues, the screen will show a lot of battery usage if it's constantly turned on. I guess I'm saying I was also under the impression that it was only for AMOLED screens.

Nope. Aside from the "Blink" feature, it works amazingly well!
The screen feature isn't even what I find the most useful part.
The best thing is that I can set it to re-vibrate and make a sound every 10 minutes if I have a notification I haven't looked at.
If you get a notification and you're not in the room, well, you'll never EVER know with the Sensation just by looking at it since the LED turns off after 5 minutes (seriously, who the hell made that decision????).
But with NoLED, the re-vibrate and periodic sounds are just downright amazing, even if you choose to not use the screen-on feature.
Even better, you can customize the re-vibration strength/pattern. I'll rarely ever feel the vibration in my pocket of normal app notifications. But I have NoLED set to 3-vibrations which I'll definitely feel in my pocket (or even hear!).
By the way, is there an app that does *just* the periodic vibration/sound?
I hope we get BLN later on.
Been using NoLED for a month without any issues.

Haha of course Just read the OP next time haha
I absolutely love NoLED and think it's pretty much a necessity for Sensation users given the notification LED stops blinking after 5 minutes.
I just wish that the NoLED Blink feature worked. If I'm away from my phone for a while (ie when working out) and I get a notification, the screen will stay on and kill the battery. Even if I leave the phone face down, I find that the battery still gets totally destroyed, not sure why.

Notification LED?

Is there not a notification LED for the Charge? You know, when you get a message or something? My Droid X had an LED indicator light that would flash until the phone was checked. For the life of me I can't seem to find where to enable/disable this? Please help.
It does not have a notification LED, quite disappointing for such a high priced phone. Just like the galaxy S2, even with its insane specs and high praises they still couldn't manage to put a notification LED, I'd rather have that then a front facing camera
You can use the free app NoLED if you would like a way to simulate having a notification LED
The led not being there has been a big con for me but if that's the worst I guess I can live with it. I would not reccomend using led "simulated" apps as your battery life is killed by them because of the screen being in the on state

Ya that is true, I'm also pretty sure it keeps your phone from sleeping since the screen is on which of course means even more battery drain. Just recommending a way to simulate the LED though I'm hoping someone makes an app to just have your back LED(for your camera) do a small flash every 15ish seconds, sure most people set their phones face down but still!
Missed Message Flasher works for me with few complaints.
NOLED I didn't care for.

I'm thinking they are sensors to detect light and adjust your screen brightness and I know one of them detects when your face is in front of the phone while on a call to prevent the screen from staying on..
