[PORT][WIP][ROM] Honeycomb 5/8/11 - Hero CDMA Android Development

This is a little port I made that came from this thread on the HTC Desire: Here
Most of the work goes to coolexe for the Desire ROM I ported this from and bypass23 for the original Honeycomb ROM on the Nexus One. Also credit goes to s0be for his AP4 kernel I am using with this ROM and arodey for his Honeycomb Boot Animation. In this port I also KANGED modules and various other files for our little Hero from CM Nightly #62 by Cyanogen and the CyanogenMod team. I've taken this as far as I could for personally I have no dev skills as well as that the Honeycomb source code has yet to be released. Once it is, much more will be able to be completed.
What Works:
-Honeycomb UI when I changed lcd density to half of original
-Touchscreen (If you seem to lose press search button then back button)
-USB Connection
-LED's
-Settings
-Rotation (Have to enter camera app in landscape and exit to go to landscape [Stuck in Landscape until reboot])
What Doesn't Work:
-Audio
-Wifi
-Camera
-SD Mounting
-Data Connection
-SMS
-Calls
-Gallery (FC's when selecting)
-And many more.

Yeah it takes a bit to boot up the very first time. After that it gets faster. I'm going to reflash to see the boot time for first boot.

I have 1 min 10 sec to boot animation and 2 min 37 sec to lockscreen. I've had my Hero since October of 2009. Results may vary.

i was just asking about this today but what could i do to help the development of this? i know what porting a rom is but what could i do to help you out? and what is kanging?

Development wise we would need to get the apps to work on here and various other changes and get files specifically build for Honeycomb rather than the Gingerbread Cyanogen files. Also get things like Calls, SMS, MMS, Data working.
KANGED - To have one's developer code and work taken, manipulated, rebranded, and re-released by someone else with no credit.
But here I gave credit to the author of those files which is Cyanogen and the CyanogenMod Team and I got those files from the heroc CM Nightly #62.

im still new to this a bit and after a bit of googling "port rom android" it seems to me that .so files for the lib folder are somehow involved in this....so i guess i could around town on the forums and gather a lot of .so files, take names for who they came from, and just play the guess and check game....would that work for fixing something? or is porting much more complicated?
i don't know if i said this but thanks

We would actually have to build files for our phone. Copying and pasting lib files is not going to get things working on our Hero. Much more complicated process. As I have no dev skills, I wouldn't know the process do such work. Various .so files work for the version they were built/complied for and are not specifically going to work for another.
Edit: Also much of this cannot be fixed until the source code is released. This is more of a tease before source code comes out.

hmm so this is beyond what i've read up as far as porting a rom then....okay i guess i'll just be a tester for this rom and i can confirm that your first post is correct as to what is and isn't working. now back to google search and xda search to figure out how are all the people on xda doing this rom/theme/mod stuff. i'm going back to aosp now but i had to try this and i'll test if you need a tester

OMG
*.* this is unbelieveable
;; Not Booting.

First a GingerSense port then a AOSP OMGB port and now a Honeycomb port?! Man im definitely have to test this!

cant wait to try this

This weekend freakin rocks!!!!! So many ROMs to try out. I feel like a kid in a candy shop.

Ohmyfudgelickngod :O I'm so down to test

[how to port]inc 2 evo porting patch & tut(+3 roms)

2 METHODS OF PORTING BELOW posted by INCDOES
MANUAL
(FOLLOWING THE GUIDE BELOW)
&
INCDOES PORTING PATCH
(EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN A ZIP)=much easier, should be the obvious choice for most...
USE THE METHOD THAT SUITS YOUR NEEDS...
UPDATE:To avoid confusion, this thread was started before the porting patch was released...i chose to leave the MANUAL directions below posted on incdoes blog for those of us that like to know whats going on behind the scenes of the updater.script=what the patch is doing
UPDATE:
found this on twitter a bit ago...
(courtesy of incdoes)
CHECK OUT THE INCDOES INC 2 EVO PORTING PATCH
CAUTION:
This is not recommended for the ave everday user/know nothing/no time to fudge with my phone crowd...
that being said, now for the fun stuff
i take no credit for any of this other than typing(incdoes leaked most of these port bases). i am just posting links to roms i found in inc forum with the instructions for porting to evo from incs blog. just trying to initiate some more rom development. i am still trying to decide which i will be working on...but this is open source so i just put it here for evo users/devs to view and get porting
ROMS:
DESIRE Z
MT4G
LIquiDsENsE
(hybrid by mmmark111)
HOW TO PORT INC ROM TO EVO
-excerpt from incdoes blog-
Okay, to run an INC ROM on your EVO would be simple. There will be a few broken 'stuff' e.g. bt, wifi etc... but easy fixes!
First you will need the INC ROM you desire to run on your EVO. Now, if its an "INC Sense ROM" you will need a "EVO Sense Kernel" and if it's an AOSP ROM then you will need a AOSP kernel.
Now there will be a few things you will need to replace on the INC ROM to make it run on your EVO:
~We are going to use a sense 2.2 rom as an example~
"so grab these files from any EVO sense ROM, preferable stock 2.2 EVO"
- boot.img (for your phone to bootup)
- system/usr (for buttons)
- system/lib/hw (for lights)
- system/lib/modules (for wifi)
- system/etc/vold.stab (for sdcard readable)
- build.prop (for market and LED's fix)
please note: some prop files include different edits that can break market/data/network/LED's... but then again, easy fixes!
Now you have an INC Sense ROM and 'all the files listed above pulled from an EVO Sense rom, you will have to add/replace the files pulled from the EVO ROM into the INC ROM, sign the .zip and flash (via recovery).
Should/will bootup if its based on the same firmware i.e. 2.2 INC ROM and 2.2 EVO ROM.

Wonder if this process can be used to port nexus roms?
Probly a couple other things needed.
I had a idea, the Incredible version of the normal LiquidE ROM (not the sense hybrid) seems to have incoming calls working unlike our Evo version. What if we tried porting it using this method, anyone think that might work?

OHHH I wish I had patients!! Quite the opposite actually.....just a really busy life.....but I may try to start tonight anyway .
So im flashing a nexus rom right now, that i switched out all the stuff + threw in a cyanogen kernel.
If this thing bricks...
___________
UPDATE: It booted up, but it doesnt register any touch on the touch screen. LOL.
Hmmm maybe if.. Any ideas guys? I switch some other stuff around too. Maybe i can figure this out...
UPDATE: I flashed netarchy universal kernel and now the touch works, i cant get any signal, i dunno what stuff needs to be switch out from GSM to CDMA.
Wifi WORKS! I dont have a keyboard for some reason, so i cant enter my password to test it but it looks to be fine. And since i have no internet connection i cant get astro to install one from my SD haha.
I flashed over sky raider 3.3 final and every thing is perfect. Theres a uncommon sense patch which I also ported because I remember reading that on the hd Rom the ego didn't like the 4 signal bars. Only thing not exactly right is the camera. It doesn't have the capture button but I can take pics by holding a finger on the screen. Video is a no go due to not having the nature button. This Rom is the smoothest I've used and I'm a flash a holic so I've used them all.
So if I use the flash patch do I need to do any of the other stuff listed in the op(replacing files)?
Sweet Magnus, may have to get back to you details of what i find wrong. But i got a porject due next week for school. I have to record us BMXing this weekend. Then make an edit. If i get that sweet alone time in the eveing, i'll be sure happy to port all three and give findings.
Everyone can check my original post, made this about Monday, September 27, 2010

My flashpatch is the same thing,
This post is what i dont want to happen, like i said before there is no point in repacking a whole new zip file when we can just have a flash over patch zip that does all the work for us.

[Port][WIP][DISCONTINUED] ICS port for the sensation [booting with graphics]

Hello everybody,
as some of you already have noticed me and some others are working on a ICS port for the HTC sensation. I did not wanted to thread to be in development forums before we could actualy show something.
Currently SDK 14 build based on the thunderbolt version that has been released.
At this moment we have this working
-volume buttons
-boots
-graphics
-Wifi seems to work in logcat(no actual test just yet)
-Sd card seems to work in logcat
-camera module gets loaded fully
-Egl modules load without problems
whats not working
-touchscreen(just the pointer system)
-radio(making calls data etc. )
-all the rest.
Pre alpha 0.0.4
To install this rom.
Format data, system and cache in clockworkmod. else it will give some errors during the boot and get into a bootloop.
This is not a rom for use by non dev.
If you try it out and it messes up your phone its not my fault nor anyone else his fault.
This is pre alpha and has not been optimized for normal use. so any extra step involved to get it booting will stay. For now!
Update nov 12 2011
Used the SDK 14 as a base now, thanks to the thunderbolt devs.
Used the Gralloc module from A stock sence rom with the result that the egl is more stable.
Upload will be online in around 2 hours from this post update.
update nov 9 2011
- Egl seems to be loading the right files, but its still missing one depending file or function. Wish logcat would give more information about the matter.
- jessaycliq is working on a kernel that should get the touchscreen working properly for us
Update nov 8 2011
- left the sdk build and started with the nexus dump
- got the nexus build booting up with black an white graphics.
- egl module is having trouble loading the right files will look into it later tonight or tomorrow.
this will be used later on
Any chance of recording a short video. I'm really curious but I don't want to flash it just yet
Cool
interesting. good luck at the port
very nice

For now there is not much to see, It boots but after that you get a bunch of FC and a reboot if you try to set it up.
We will show what it does later on when it is more stable.
I think it's been a great effort so far. It's tantalisingly close to working properly!

we used mixed sources to get these results.
Its a combination of HC tablet drivers with SDK base and some files replaced from the nexus dump.

U have done a lot of work.so far been following ur thread not meany people New about ur thread in general
Now that u have moved to development I'm sure u may find one or to other developer's to assist with ur work
Hope all goes well and god speed
Small update: changed kernel to faux one and it gives the same results. will use this one untill we have our own one cooked and ready.
Tarends, this is amazing. Seriously!
I didn't believe it at first cuz some random guy posted about porting ICS to the Sensation who didn't even have one. Was a prick!
But I totally believe you! Thank you so much mate! Great to have you here! I totally support you. I wish I could help but I'm of no use, all I can do is create a download mirror (my own server).

[ROM] [WIP] AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich for HTC Sensation (EARLY ALPHA)

This is AOSP-4.0.1-R1, compiled and built for the HTC Sensation 4G (should work on the regular HTC Sensation too).
You can follow progress on Twitter.
Update (11/30/2011): We're not dead! New builds incoming soonish. For now look to the latest pages and grab stoneyjonez' build.
This is a REALLY early build - almost nothing works properly yet.
Huge props and thanks to stoneyjonez for providing and modifying the device configuration for pyramid. Also for continued help/assistance - we're basically working on this together.
This is the *development thread* - please go here for discussion and help flashing it. If you are about to tell us "X device has ICS, you should use their ROM!", put it in the god damn discussion thread. DO NOT post it here.
Credits:
- CM7.1-SELFKANG-Alphafied 10 for HTC Sensation, for providing some libs, device configuration and a clean AOSP-ish ROM
- AOSP, obviously
- stoneyjonez for device config
- Practically everyone in this thread (the SDK port for the Sensation)
- dsixda's kitchen, for making the packaging easier.
Working:
- Boots
- Displays some graphics (though they are torn diagonally and basically unusable)
- Hardware controls (volume up/down)
- TOUCHSCREEN, as of this post (Touches won't release yet, though)
Not working:
- Almost everything else
DO NOT FLASH THE RECOVERY IMAGE. We don't know what it does just yet.
Proper downloads:
test1 (AOSP, booting!): http://www.mediafire.com/?my054essk6g0le6
test3 (AOSP): http://www.mediafire.com/?8ynyror6mnkk5x1
test3.1 (AOSP kernel, rooted + busybox): http://www.mediafire.com/?e86zfv4avaxlo26
TEST3 won't boot or output to adb... cookies to anyone who can figure out why. I'm going to try and fix the touchscreen in test1, uploadable zip of test1 coming soon.

Oh yeah, lets get this started!
I would have hit thanks but I am limited to 5 per day lol. Can't wait for a stable release
System image with the changes is just about to finish - stay tuned for an updated build + flashable zip.

So far two directly working on it, though probably like 8 if you count everyone in the SDK port thread.
Just got the stats for how long a full build takes for me:
real 72m53.054s
user 224m22.581s
sys 11m14.934s
This is with 8GB of RAM, though I probably have to downgrade to 6GB of RAM soon (someone else needs one of my 4GB sticks )
Nice job, its good to see more development happening here, it may be worth keeping an eye on the touchpad devs progress too due to their similar chipset

[WIP][ROM] Eclair (Android 2.1, .32 kernel), need some help ;)

I have picked up an old project I was working on, getting Eclair on our phones.
Now you might think, why Eclair, it is much older than Froyo and we already have Gingerbread!?
The answer is simple, just because we do not have Eclair roms for our phones
Some people here think newer is always better, but that is not always the case
Eclair is already booting, but I have some FC's and launcher does not work correctly. Neither any other things work.
I was trying to get a logcat, but could not connect using adb.
Perhaps someone else can give me a solution for enabling adb?
What did I use to get eclair booting up?
Froyo bootimage
Compiled Eclair using Froyo-libs and kernel.
If you want to take a look at it, here is a pre-pre-alpha where nothing works
It is not the latest, because I'm already solving some problems.
Reserved for future use

Second: Provide some logcat, maybe you have same problem as mine in OMFGB (missing resources in apks)
Third: Upload to your gitHub,I'll have a look
BTW: Could you check if you have any /build/core/kernel.mk? Really getting mad with that error on CM6.
Could not get any logcat
But it's solved
Launcher is working now!
Updated build.prop, checked if some files existed, but some were missing.
Guess I forgot something in device-files
Now working on sd-card mounting, gsm and wifi, if these are fixed I will provide an updated zip (this zip contains generic build.prop )

Non-working RIL could be caused from three things:
You missed LG services into makefiles/.rc files (if you want I can PM you some strings to add to .rc files)
Wrong libs (easy to check)
Non-prelinked libraries (define TARGET_PRELINKER_MAP (or some like that) into device_thunderg.mk and modify prelink-linux-arm-msm7xx7 or some like that with names of unlinked libs. You can see what stuff isn't prelinked with a debugging-enabled linker you can find into Swift-sense Mur4iK GT540 post. For prelink address, use google because I don't know
Would this have any actual speed benefit?

You will absolutely encounter speed differences with Gingerbread.
You will even have more space available, romsize is rather small

yes performance will be 2x(low) xD
If you can't contribute anything usefull, do not react here, I was glad SWEATTAIMI has stopped with it after many warnings and now you start
Anyway, Eclair is more smooth than Gingerbread on our phone (at least this version)

CAF Code right?
BTW,Did you build kernel together with the system? If so check your kernel.mk into /build/core. I'm getting mad at it.

No, this one is just AOSP with some LG crap
And booting using original LG Froyo kernel for now
Seems most compatible
Perhaps later a custom kernel will be used
Sorry for this off topic, but, good job and good luck ^_^ i hope you can successfully do this i loved the older builds of android an would love to go back to it, i wish i could help in some way and this is the best i can do :3 but good luck
What's up with RIL Arj?

The one posted here just boots to UI but launcher etc FC. (that is why it is called pre alpha)
Got one with working launcher now, but spent some time on OMFGB with Bytecode and CM9.
As soon as all is working I will release a beta.

[DEV] ICS Pre-Alpha

NOTE: THIS ROM IS NOT CURRENTLY USABLE! DO NOT FLASH IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING
Ladies and gentlemen of XDA, I present to you ICS on the TF101! This ROM is currently very much still in development, and is not usable in it's current state, but it boots! This is more or less a proof of concept at the moment.
What's not working:
Display has a green overlay most of the time
Touchscreen
Wifi
Camera
HW Acceleration
Pretty much everything else
What does work:
adb
Boots to launcher
Touchpad on the dock (currently only method of input)
To install:
Download the system blob from http://mirror.mostoftheinternet.com/android/ROM/tf101/system-AOSP-20111230.blob.bz2
Boot into recovery
Do factory reset
Mount /sdcard using the menu
Use adb to transfer the blob to the device
Code:
adb push system-AOSP-20111230.blob.bz2 /sdcard/blob.bz2
Enter device shell
Code:
adb shell
Decompress blob and apply
Code:
bzcat /sdcard/blob.bz2 | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
Reboot and wait for it to install
Done!
If you are able to contribute at all, please let me know. The Git repo for this is at https://github.com/Deathisfatal/android_device_asus_tf101/tree/cm9.
Dev notes:
Most of the random crashes (and the green colour) seem to be caused by an issue with the graphics
Eventually, I plan to move to CM9 once they move closer to release
Screenshot! (yay, green...)

Are you going to setup a repository for this? I was actually planning on starting a port of my own but I would love the opportunity to jump in and work with you.
Already have, forgot to add it to the post
Thanks for the support, guys.
Nice to finally see even an early build as this, well done i`ll be keeping an eye on this thread

This would make my day! If we manage to get CM9 to start working, I would love to help try or try to be the main man behind porting MIUI (English Site). I've helped a decent bit with porting it to my phone (Samsung Epic 4G). From everything i've seen so far the kernels of CM7 and MIUI are pretty much interchangeable, so it should be a fairly easy transition if CM9 functions. I don't know squat about kernels, so i wouldn't be of any help there though.
UH i had this like 3 weeks ago, but didn't post cuz it sucked so much.
Here's mine, no green stuff either.
I also didn't post it because it's a straight up kang of the Iconia guys' but whatever.
LOL
Thanks to OP for your hard work...
www.scienceprousa.com/jcarrz1/icstest.zip just flash in clockwork but don't expect much...........
Mind sharing your vendor files, jcarrz1?

Nope cause it's a straight-up kang of the iconia guys'. And they took their source down because n00bs b crazy.
I really admire that you actually have a device tree and stuff, I'm too inexperienced to do that.
Nice!

Maybe this may help? https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_asus_tf101
Was going to start an ICS port today as well so I'll be forking your branch and hopefully helping out. Glad we are going to get some progress on this!

My original code is a fork of that. Their repo is pretty incomplete.

Good to see a start on this, a bit later than expected!

For the graphics drivers, as the tf101 uses the same SOC as the xoom, it might be possible to pull the tegra2 drivers from google's wingray aosp sources (found here)

Right, and if the cyanogenMod device tree for tf101 is by bumbledroid then why doesn't touch work yet?
