Can someone post an apk for gtalk with video chat. I currently have 2.3.4 but would like to use the video chat over 3g/4g and not just wifi...
I saw one in the android forum, but no one can confirm it works 100%.
No APK is needed... mod sql database.

Hello everyone,
So, after returning my G2x due the poor battery life, I'm in the market again for a smartphone with Android. My top priority is video chat, since I have some friends that live in Europe who I would like to video chat with. Some of them do not have smartphones and rely on PC applications to video chat.
I am seriously considering the Google Nexus S. I have heard that is has support for GTalk video chat on the 2.3.4 version.
However, I have also heard that has been some issues with the video chat on T-Mobile. Therefore I have a couple of questions about video chat that I would really appreciate if any Google Nexus S answered.
1. Does GTalk Video Chat work on T-Mobile's 3G network? If not, is there any workaround that doesn't require any advanced technical skills and/or rooting?
2. Do other video chats like Yahoo! Messenger and Oovoo work over 3G on the Google Nexus S on T-Mobile? Is it a viable option (i.e. smooth video and reasonable audio)?
3. Has anyone tried to use the Skype leaked .apk for the Thunderbolt that allows video chat?
Thank you in advance.

No - you can easily resolve this but you need root access to edit gservices.db

How do you edit gservices.db to enable talk over 3G?

I downloaded SQL Lite. Use RootExplorer to get to the .db file.
what exactly is this for? i dont see an option for it when calling and the phone didnt come with a program for video calls? is it in the making?
well, you can take pics of yourself to upload onto facebook if your into that kind of thing. Sure beats the little chrome dot that your supposed to use as a mirror LOL
I am sure at some point there will be Skype and other programs that will and can use it. Just a matter of time
facing camera is for purpose using the video conference or taking a picture of yourself for some purpose like facebook or update your new face.
You can just download Tango or skype app or whatever your favorite video conference app.
You need the leaked skype.apk for skype video calling which on Sense 2.2 works great. CM7 also has Gtalk with video mostly working. I haven't tried Tango yet but I'm sure it works as well for video chatting.
I have used it with Yahoo Messenger with the video chat plugin and it works great.
Still waiting (patiently.....) for vid-chat support on Google Talk.
Is there any stable hacked or leaked Skype versions that allow me to video chat?
I apologize in advance if this has already been asked.
Go to the apps and themes forums or search for skype, there's a modified version that works
Hello from germany -
is there any hack what implements the skype video call option to HTC ChaCha?
Thanks for your help...
Alex
hey there, I don't think there is a hack. You can try downloading Skype and see if the video call functionality is already working out of the box...
or you can also wait for the Skype to implement the functionality on our phone, if you check the Skype android app page, you can see which phones are already available for video calls.

I cannot get it to work
Hi. I have a ChaCha running 2.3.5 with S-ON.
I checked the link posted previously, downloaded the app, but still no video settings in Skype settings. I'm sure the phone hardware is ok for video calling, because I can use Tango for video calls, but I will really like to use skype as well. Any help please?
Thanks.
Skype is not working on chacha because it require ARMv7 CPU.
Anyone tried this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.oovoo
Its cross platform and more importantly free.
Give it a try.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using xda premium
It's not compatible with the chacha..
Neither Skype nor Google Talk work with Video chat on the Chacha yet (although there is a "Video for Google Talk" app, but this does not work well.
I was able to install Yahoo Messenger with Video but I did not test it, since none of my friends used Yahoo Messenger and also this as always autostarting - so i deleted it. But I think Yahoo video talk should work.
I really don't understand why Google does not improve Google Talk. I like it more than Skype, but it's not clear why it doesn't even support voice talk on some phones.
I usually use Yahoo!
Blu Studio owners, please, share your experience about using some video chat apk with the device!
I've tried Skype (that is working only as voice call software, as you know), than Tango, Fring, ooVoo, Yahoo Messenger with video plug-in and others, without much success.
Now I have Fring installed, it sometimes works sometimes not, but it's far from being stable.
I also tried to install the Google Talk video chat version from here, XDA. My phone is rooted, so I could install it as system apk, it run but simply did not offered the voice and/or video call feature. So I put back the original, only written-chat Talk app.
Does anybody have more success with video chat on Studio 5.3?
(Certainly the normal mobile phone video call works well. That is why I think there should be some app that works with this processor and system.)
Thanks,
Tibor

As per the manual, the phone was only test for video telephony. Pure voice (CS or circuit switched) calls with video, not IP video "chatting" like Skype and the likes. Strange, but that's what it seems like.
I've seen in another thread on XDA that somebody could use QIK video chat with BLU Studio 5.3. (Freely downloadable from Play Store.)
I've installed it now. It's really working! It's not the best chat program since the free version is not compatible with any other chat apps (like Skype or Viber) but at least -- works. So, if you want to use free-of-charge video chat with this phone you should convince your family members and friends to also install QIK...
