Isn't the 3rd screen the Home Screen? There are 5 screens in total.
The middle screen is the primary screen. The reason for this is because it is the least distance from all other screens (with a maximum of 2 swipes to any of the 5 screens). There is no way of configuring it in normal honeycomb settings as there is very little reason to other than if you have a background image you want to work well with all your main widgets and launch icons on a specific screen other than the middle one. As for trying something to change it you'd have to wait for ROMs or a launcher replacement with that kind of functionality built in (I am not aware of any with that functionality).
Looks like I will have to swap screens 1 and 3 then Is there a way to select multiple shortcuts and move them in one shot at least?

Anyone know how to move folders and apps from one Home screen to another. After my 2.1 updated software, the new home screen now contains more screens. At present I am using ADW.LAUNCHER. It is great but I thought a change. ADW has its own settings button and I can restore all my settings on that! I want to move all!!![/
The normal long click and drag sideways doesn't work ?
click n hold icon and simply drage it toward ur choice of screen (left or right) perhaps a little out of the screen, it should go to another screen. mine works like this.
hope it works
I only want 5 home screens but it is currently set to 7. when I change my home screen settings to 5 screens, I loose the 2 screens on the far right, i dont care about loosing those screens but when I tried to just move my apps and widgets back to the left, I cannot add anything to the far left 2 screens. I keep getting a "No more room on this Home Screen" message. I cant even long press an app from my app drawer and add to this screen. Basically my two left screens are just blank and useless. I adjusted my default screen to 1 and then 2 and I still couldn't get anything added to the screen. Please help, I am about to throw this thing through the wall.
With five screens, you would want to set the default screen to 3. 1,2,3,4,5 from left to right so three would be the middle.

I forgot to mention that I had moved my main default to 3 That is not a problem though, even with my default at 3, screens 1 and 2 are completely blank. Is there a lock setting somewhere outside of Launcher Pro that I dont have set or my version of Launcher just corrupt? Has anyone ever heard of this happening? If so how did you fix it?
Running ICS 4.04.
So, I want to know What Exactly is a Lock screen and the difference and the Home screen.
Why and how would you have 1 Screen.
And why are there 5 different screens? how do i make it to have 3 or 4?
Is Go Launcher a app which replaces the Home screen or the lock screen? ? if so how much RAM does it take?
Thank You
A lock screen is the first screen that comes up when you wake up your device, its to help prevent unwanted usage of or device such as pocket dialing. A home screen is where you will have all your apps and widgets. If you have an app such as go launcher or nova launcher, it will replace your stock home screen and allow you to choose different setups. Such as number of home screened or how many icons per screen. I believe they use very little system resources, no more than your stock launcher. Go launcher also has a ton of themes to make look completely different.

To answer unanswered qsns, u can just do a pinch in gesture get an outlook of all the home screens, long press on the one u wanna remove and it will show how to remove. And there are heavy launchers which take a lot of RAM. I don't think go takes a lot. May be around 30-40 mb. (not sure). If u have any lags, then try some other light weight launchers.! And go launcher is a launcher (of course, name says it all), there is go locker associated with go launcher for lockscreen.

Thank You both!! For helping me!
One last question,
Would it be possible to put a lock screen which wakes up, by touching the screen e.g 2-3 presses/tap on the screen or the volume button? rather than the orignal power button?
thank You

If the screen was actively on, touch sensors waiting, it would drain battery.
The volume keys can be configured to turn the phone on with some custom ROMs I believe like cyanogen

This has been driving me batty for months. I note [email protected] is a senior XDA member so I'm hopeful I'll find a solution here.
I'm running Android 5.0.1 on an HTC One (M8). I've had Nova Prime launcher as default for a couple years and love it, but I cannot find the magic formula for designating my primary homescreen (the one with my clock app and primary app icons--there are two screens to the left; three to the right of this screen) as default. when I tap home twice and get all homescreens in view, there are white house icons above every screen EXCEPT the one I want as default, which shows a black house icon. When I want to go to the homescreen, any of the six may come up when home is tapped.
What I'm trying to do is set my chosen homescreen as default so it pops up whenever I tap home. Not sure if it could be a factor, but I'm also using the Next lockscreen widget as well.
It used to be pretty simple to designate the default homescreen, but either it's become more complicated (or I've gotten stupider)
Any help out there?
Thanks
Go into the home screen overview, then tap and hold the home icon of the screen you want to be your default. That icon should turn white and become the default screen.
Thanks, Scottjb
This is what I find bizarre--what you've suggested only seems to work in reverse: 5 of my homescreen icons are white houses--if I tap and hold on one of those it turns black, however if I tap and hold the black house on the screen I want to designate, absolutely nothing happens. Confused here!
I have Pixel 3a running Android 10.
I can create new home screen panel by moving application shortcuts to the right of rightmost existing panel. However, I can't move them to the left of the "main" panel (when I say "main" I mean the one to which you navigate by pressing "Home" button).
Is it possible to do in Android 10? The panel to the left of the main one used to have Google News, I turned it off but can't place anything else there.
I am coming from old phone running Android 4.2 and there it was possible. "Main" panel was in the middle and I could create new panels on either side.
yes. you just need to create 3 screens and have your main home screen be the middle screen. then from the middle screen you can move left or right. not sure if thats what you want though cause you are correct that they only get created to the right.

I don't think this is what I want because if I click "Home" button I am always brought to the leftmost panel. I updated my OP to be clearer on what I mean.
ok. but when i create the 3 screens and press home it navigates to the middle screen. so i do have a screen to the left and right of the home. thing is i'm using the nova launcher so that's probably it. i guess you're using pixel launcher? might want to search for pixel launcher apps that change the function.

Yes, I am using Pixel launcher.
Apparently the Dec Android update brings gestures to third party launchers which is been a missing element up until now. Once you take the update, you may want to try out Nova Launcher or another third party launcher to achieve what you are looking for. I know I had to stop using Nova on Android 10 because I wanted to use gesture navigation. Now that Google is allowing gesture navigation on third party launchers, I'm sure I'll go back to Nova. I really miss the app draw folders!
But you can definitely add as many screen as you want and even reset the "home" screen easily using Nova. So if you want one screen to the left, then home screen, then a screen to the right - that will be no problem using Nova. In fact you can turn on the infinite swipe feature where the home screens won't ever hit a hard "end" but keep flowing when swiped. So if you have three home screens and swipe right from the third screen you will flow from 3 -> 2 -> 1 ->3 ->2 ->1 etc etc etc. But anytime you press the home button, you can set it to be taken to the middle screen.
