Hole next to LED Flash - HTC Inspire 4G

Anyone have any idea what its for?
Sent from my Desire HD

I believe it's for the secondary noise-cancelling microphone.

My cases cover it lol
sent from planet snarf

I read somewhere that its to slip something into to release the flash. For repairing I'm guessing?

No don't ever tell anyone that. It's a Mic for noise cancelling. Not a hole to be sticking stuff in (that's not what she said)
Sent via the power of a unicorn's horn.

My case (Ringke Rearth) also appears to cover the hole next to the flash. Has anyone had any problems with this causing any problems for the noise cancellation? I havent had anyone complain about poor voice quality as of yet..

The reason I asked was that I bought an amazing case for $4 in Downtown LA yet it covers the hole.
Seriously though, this case is awesome. Going to take some pictures tomorrow.

Your great $4 case breaks one of the phone's features.

If the DHD has the same hole, it's odd that Otterbox covers it up with the defender case.

A feature that to my knowledge, hasn't affected the performance of the phone. I can still be heard loud and clear.

Agreed. A lot of custom ROMs don't even enable the dual mic noise-cancellation feature by default anyway. The build.prop setting media.a1026.enableA1026 needs to set to 1 for this feature to work, but it is set to 0 or completely missing in a lot of ROMs.

Looks like in GTG'S ACE 1.0.2 update he disabled it because it was draining the battery. :/

It's been enabled in the Rom I am using, but I haven't noticed a difference on my end of the call. And no one on the other end has said it's any clearer than with previous Roms.. *shrugs*

Flip to mute

Did you know if someone is calling you, you can flip your phone around and it will mute the ringtone but it won't decline the call.
Hope this helps someone
Didn't know that. Thanks for the tip.
You guys need to read the manual and poke around the settings more.
Did you know if you flip it during a call it will activate the speaker?
Ah, all this fun, and much, much more

Nice feature imho
I use the feature almost everey day, i get a lot of unknown callers

And also I like the fact that when you pick up the phone in your hand the ring volume decreases and doesn't bother others and also when the phone is in you pocket or purse it rings louder with each ring.
really like the HTC subtleties
This flipping thing actually IS a neat feature of HTC Sense. Has anyone experience with this behaviour on custom roms with Sense 3.0 (e.g. Virtuous). Does it still work?
Thx in advance.
(Just S-OFFed & rooted my stock 1.47.401, so I'm actually a little bit eager to wreak some more havoc! )

Speakers

Are both speakers at the bottom of the g2x supposed to have music coming out of them? On mine it only comes out of the right one.

One is a microphone and one is a speaker.
Pro Tip: If you hold the phone upside down then the speaker will be at the top. This provides a more uplifting sound and also boosts the high notes somewhat.
It does take a little getting used to the inverted image on the screen but eventually the brain adjusts... then it just looks like everyone else's phone is upside down.

That's kind of backwards thinking isn't it?
@spyvie...nice...lol
Can you please post an idiot proof, how to thread on how to prooperly listen to music. Lol It has never bothered me.

This is so weird. I just got my G2x today, I thought there was something wrong with it. And i come in "G2x General" and it's the first post on the page.
One mic and one speaker. Here is the illustration from the owner's manual.
A simple search would have found you the answer as this has been discussed many times already.

And leaving this thread with one question that has already been answered alone would have made good sense.
A reply that is both condescending and late serves no purpose.

Nice to see a picture. I thought we have surround sound with 2 speakers.

Calm down bro! the guy did not respond to that post which I replied to days ago until after I made this thread. I honestly don't care about thread count so stop saying that I am boosting it.
all the veterans are always so fiesty. You are mixed with the masses now, it's gonna happen, just get used to it. I did. Dont let the new account fool you, I lost access to my old email and had to make a new one... time for change!
On to the actual topic. I am curious about this as well... I plan on taking the phone apart soon so it would be nice to know what to expect...

Im sure you are wrong about it being a Mic for the camcorder, it is most likely for noise cancellation

Well, if I'm wrong, why does the recorded audio sound exactly the same if I completely cover the mic on the bottom edge of the phone (the one used for voice calls)?
Edit: I'm sure it's used for noise cancellation too, if that even works - but generally, it doesn't, cause every time I use the phone in a noisy area, the person on the other end can hear everything.

what your saying all the noise cancellation is true however I thought that I remember that if I covered up the mic on the bottom that it did make the video sound quiet, maybe I'm actually wrong

Camera lens clicking sound when focusing

When the camera re focus's on something I can hear a click sound coming from the lens area. Anyone else confirm this?
Just put your hand over the lense and you should hear it, then take it away and repeat.
Mine does this as well. It seems to do it more when it's trying to focus on something very close.
Same here, but with the all the noise my dslr makes I ignored it.

autofocus whore (hehehe, jk, but yes, one shouldnt pay attention to the sound of a focusing lens)
i know this may sound stupid but when i shake the camera, is that the lense i hear moving around? Thx though for letting me know its a normal sound (focusing)

I have this as well. As long as it doesn't affect the camera I'm ok with it. It only takes a light shake for mine rattle.

Slight rattle for me too, I know it's not the power or volume though. But it's a non issue.

It's normal, mine does it too. I believe it's the focus mechanism in the camera. My previous iPhone 4s did the same thing.
*Edit* I just shot a few pics outside in the sun and I must say.....this camera takes incredible pics. They are on par or better than my iPhone 4s camera shot.
Yep mine too, don't worry

(Q) auto brightness not working and no sound from the ear piece (Solved)

I normally use my bluetooth headset for calls but today when I tried to call someone with just the handset, I couldn't hear the other person. They said they could hear me though. I've tried making other calls and it is out. Speaker phone works ok. I seem to have also lost my auto brightness. I flashed a nandroid from before the probs and they're still there so I'm thinking this might be a hardware issue. Any ideas?

I was having SD-ext problems, I had to repartition. Idk if that would help but maybe it is causing problems. I flashed a ROM that didn't have a2sd (ICS) and the problems didn't persist. Maybe something to try?

Thanks I'll read it in a min. Now my touch screen is unresponsive. I've flashed 2 nandroids and did 1 fresh install of Supreme Sense XII and the same results.
Edit: There's a crunching sound at the top of the shift when I open and close the keyboard so I guess its the flex cable. Great just what I needed.

I've found some replacement flexcables on line from a few places. I'm concerned about the quality of the products so I was wondering if anyone would recommend a supplier they've used that's trust worth. Its not a huge expense but I don't want to have to change it again if I can help it.
