[Q] Microphone defaults to Browser - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have installed Dolphin HD and set it as my default browser. However when I use the microphone on either the Home Page or within Dolphin to search, it always opens the results in Browser. Is there a place where I can tell it to use Dolphin? I was thinking about uninstalling browser but I rather not since I don't know if I can get it back. Didn't see it on the Market place.

Going off experience from my phone here...
It does this same thing with my Nexus One. Voice Search opens in something that looks like the stock Browser. But when I click on a search result, it gives me the option to complete the action with either Browser or Dolphin HD. So I clicked on "use as default action" and then selected Dolphin HD.
Now when I click a result it opens up the page in Dolphin HD. When I press the back button, it pops me back to the search results.
Perhaps Honeycomb behaves in a similar fashion? I wish it would all be in Dolphin, but hey.
Hope this helps.

Tbanks. That did the trick. I think when I first got my transformer, I set browser to be my default. Cleared it and now it's ok.

[Q] Browser Bug/Annoyance

Hello,
Has anyone noticed the stock browser randomly returning to the home page immediately upon loading another page?
It does if you open a new tab.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
mine crashes without an error message and so I have to reopen and go all the way back to the page I was on, so I don't use the stock browser anymore. I use Dolphin's HD browser
Same here. I use Dolphin HD v7.0 (not the tablet version) and it works great Plus has add-ons for ad blocking, themes, translation and better bookmarking.
My stock browser closes itself sometimes, especially, the default homepage of ASUS, or complicated page.
I also want to use Dolphin, is it good?
I've just started using Opera Mobile browser and pretty impressed with the speed.
even typing this there's absolutely no lag.

I definitely have this problem. My browser is always going to google.com even after I type in a url. Any solutions?
I'm also having this problem, sometimes the browser just closes and I also have problems with re-directs. I hope these problems are fixed with ICS.

Question with default apps....

When I was using CM7, before I set Dolphin as my default browser, it would always nag me with a popup everyone I clicked a link in gmail or here on XDA. The dialog would want to know which browser to use (between stock and dolphin), and to check a box to set the selected browser.
As that was annoying, I had set dolphin as my default and everything was fine.
But now with this new phone and ICS, I am torn between Chrome beta and dolphin. Chrome is far more useable, but the obvious downside is that it has no flash support. So in cases when I click on a link to a YouTube or other .flv video, I want to use Dolphin. However it seems that even if I don't tell Chrome to be my default browser, it decides it is...Dolphin won't do that unless you specifically set it as default.
So my question is... How can I get a choice of browsers to pop up when I click a link?
Thanks!

Settings, App Associations.
You can use Flashify
With this app if you share a page with a flash video or a link, it appears the popup where you can use whatever browser you want
This adds one more step(sharing) but at least it works
anyway if you click on youtube it's far more logical to use the app instead of browser (my opinion)

That is my point. On my old CM7 ROM, whenever I clicked on any link with a flv file, it gave me an option of the native browser, dolphin, and the YouTube app, which was very convenient. I don't know why this ROM doesn't do this. I have cleared all defaults from browsers, but when I do get a popup to select a browser, there is no "Remember this choice" checkbox, so I assume when you select the browser you want, it automatically becomes the default.
I will try Flashify... But if anyone else can confirm that you cannot specifically select to not choose a default (thereby continually keeping your options open), it would be appreciated.

I also can't change the defaults with these apps. They always use the browser. It's dumb. I can't wait to be able to use AOSP on this phone

Always asks to set default browser

I can't find this exact problem on here, so I'm risking posting a thread.
I installed Opera mini and mobile on my sidekick and now it always asks what browser to use when I click on any link (or when I search on google and it redirects). It never remembers if I check the box to set the default. Never ever. After a hundred tries. After deleting the default in the settings. Reboots galore. Nothing. Still asks. It's so annoying I can't stand to use web on the phone at all. At least I no longer even come close to my data cap these days.
In the settings it has the built in Web set the default, and none of the other Opera browsers are set as the default. So it's not got two browsers set, which was my theory at first.
I guess I should delete every third party browser.... any other suggestions?

If you want a good browser with data compression, I've found that UCWebrowser and Ninesky work great. I used to love Opera Mini but then came those damn reboots after the recent updates to the newer versions.

I have the same problem with Dolphin Browser which updates virtually every week and with every update, the "Default Browser" setting needs to be re-selected. One of those quirky Android things. however if it is between updates, it may be an Opera thing.
de-installed opera, crossing fingers

Yes it was in between updates. And yes, opera's updates were annoying me, actually.
I de-installed both operas, then rebooted. Then when I went to a link (whilst already in the default web browser) it then asked about whether it should use Textonly, which is something I'd installed long ago, but it never asked about before on the list of possible browsers.
It seems to be remembering to use just Web now that opera is gone. Thank the goddess! And thanks for your help. The relief I feel really shows how aggravating this had become.

[Q] CromXi browsing problem

Hi there,
I'm new, so I can not post a message in the dev forum yet. So i hope someone can help me out.
I flashed my girlfriends tf300t with CromXi 4.7. Everything works butter smooth, but do not use the disable fsync feature. To risky for me.
The problem I have is with browsing some websites. I will give you 2 urls.
zalando.nl
tablet.hm.com
When broswing to zalando, with the default browser, chrome or dolphin with jetpack, i get the error message "....doublickick.net url not found" in to frames on the main page.
I already removed the ad blocker app, but still no result. On my iPad it shows perfect and I can not figure out what the problem is. On any other android tablet it also works perfectly. So CromXi is blocking doubleclick some how.
When browsing to tablet.hm.com (yes, she likes shopping online) with the dolphin browser and you click for instance man -> schoenen and scroll down, you see the main top bar rebuilding itself. This does not happen with chrome or the default browser.
Dolphin is still the best browser of them all.
The irritating thing with the default browser is that the url bar disappears when you stop scrolling. I can not figure out how to disable this "feature".
I don't want to use chrome, because it's irritatingly slow. Same goes for firefox.
Hope you can help me out.
Solved the problem on tablet.hm.com. It was the Jetpack. After disabling it, the top menu bar stayd while scrolling and didn't rebuild it self.
Leaves the doublick.net block with every browser. Strange problem.....

Maybe try boat browser? Or in dolphin set ipad in browser mode (i dont rremember if it is possible)?
In boat u can set ipad, but it works even in "normal" (mobile) mode.
Boat look similar to chrome

Well the problem is with every browser, not just dolphin. And it is on the tf300.
So when browsing to zalando.nl with Chrome, Dolphin or the default browser on the TF300T with CROMI-X, I see page could not be found with the url ....doubleclick.net. I also have this on othe webpages who uses doubleclick.net.
The same happens when searching in google and clicking an advertisement link in the top of the page. the error shown sais "Page not available. ....googleadservices.com/.....". This is also in chrome, dolphin and the default browser.
I have no idea what the problem is and it looks like its blocking advertisement links.
It's definately not the network, because i don't see the error on a galaxy tab with the stock rom or ipad. I also didn't have this problem with the stock Asus Rom. So it has to be something in Cromi-X.
I already removed the adblocker, but still the problem remains.

SOLVED
Oke, so it's ofcourse my mistake.
What I did was disable the adaway blocker through configuration - apps. I just disabled the app. What i didn't know was that the app changed the hosts file. So after reenabling the app and disabling it through the app itself, it showed my the message to restore the default hosts file.
After a reboot everything works just perfectly!!

Which Android Tabbed Browser?

I'm looking for a new browser but cannot find anything I can get along with
I have used Dolphin for years but have had enough of the Speed Dial screen on any new tabs and having to press the home shortcut to get to my homepage
What I am looking for is a tabbed browser, like Dolphin, that automatically defaults to the homepage saved. I do not want to be looking at dashboards and speed dials that developers seem to think we want. I want it to load my homepage not anything else, just my homepage
I have tried several browsers over the last few days and nothing that I have found can be set how I want to use it. The closest I have found is Naked Browser but this still doesn't default to my saved homepage. I have emailed the developer and also commented on their thread on here but no reply as of starting this thread
Any recommendations on a browser that would meet my requirements?
So you're saying that you want to see a specific page when opening a new tab? I think browsers like chrome, have the option to change default homepage to any page you wanted.

New tab defaulting to homepage works fine on Chrome but Chrome does not have proper tabbed browsing like Dolphin or Naked Browser
