Screen rotation lag fix

Here is the original post from jbuggydroid on androidforums. He posted it in Ragnarokx's Truly Epic thread. I tried it on Viperrom Apocalypse 4.0.2c and it worked so it may be a fix for anyone with screen rotation lag (as in lag over 1/2 second). It's just a sensor calibration on the admin level. So anyway, download a terminal emulator from the market. I used android terminal emulator. Open it. Type 'su' (without the quotation marks) and hit enter. That will give you superuser rights. Then type, /system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha and hit enter. It will ask you to place the device horizontally (just put it on a desk or something flat and place it horizontally). Then hit enter. It will calibrate. Exit the terminal, turn off the screen then turn it back on. No more lag.
Sidenote- I posted in this sub because I figured most users would see this with rommed phones on froyo.
Thank you sooo much for posting this here. That rotation lag was driving me nuts. Did as directed and now the lag is gone!
Glad I could help
Worked great for me too!

Do you have Superuser installed? Are you rooted?
Hmm, the description said you don't have to be rooted to run the emulator. Which, I guess, is true. But for this specific process, you need superuser (aka su) rights, meaning you need to be rooted. If you are already rooted, I would have to look around for answers.

I'm not rooted and I do not have superuser installed :S.
By the way I would like to root my phone but I'm a noob and could not find any easy tutorial to do it.
This wiki is amazing. It has everything you will need. I highly recommend that you read a about rooting, flashing, etc before attempting to do anything. Having the knowledge beforehand can really help if something doesn't go quite right. Knowing also will help you because you will know what to look for, what to not look for and what everything should look like. Youtube vids help for visual but I personally think reading + visual is ideal. Having said that, it is really easy to do

For some reason it only worked after I disabled then re enabled auto rotate but it is faster

Thanks, this worked for me! I had to reboot before it took effect.
Also, I had run the gui calibration tool several times, which never got rid of the rotation lag, so running sensorcalibutil_yamaha was necessary.
Note: running Bonsai4 DK28 w/ext4

Need a little help.

Not sure if this is the correct fourm but since i didnt see a tech support forum figured this might be the most logical spot to put it.
My current device is a Samsung galaxy s 4g
Carrier T mobile
Rom
[ROM][CWM] T959VUVKD1 - Deodexed FIXED
Flashed with Odin3 v1.7
The issue i had is i wanted to install the bali kernel onto the phone i downloaded the 2.1 kernel from the forums non UV version but i don't know how to flash it. I tried to find it in the forums but i don't really see any clear directions how to flash it some say clockwork don't have it don't know how to install it. Sorry for my nubness. Then i did try to flash it using odin3 which soft bricked the phone phone computer with a little line going though it. Fixed that without much issue.
Id like Try out non stock kernels and i love what u guys do with the roms but i guess im a little stumped cause i don't know how to eather a find the missing apps i needed or how to flash it properly though odin3. If im totally off the mark im sorry and please forgive me again for my noobness.

OK your probably gonna here some $h1t for not searching but I'll Hook you up. OK you need to go to the cwm final post by krylon360. That will get you cwm. Once u have cwm setup you will boot into recovery and select reinstall packages, this puts you into cwm.
Know to flash the kernel go to "install zip from sdcard" and locate the zip( Bali kernel ) and confirm installation. Let it do its thing and BAM you have Bali kernel. HOPE THIS HELPS YA.
**edit**
To navigate in recovery and cwm use the volume keys to go up and down and power to select.

IF that is correct then ok ill go from there and i assume once i stick the zip file on the root of the sd card reboot to recovery mode and install it? Adb (noob asking)

While looking at somethings about installing certain apps or rooting, I see that they say to use adb. Is this something used on the phone itself, computer, or both. From what I understand, it is similar to command prompt on the PC.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Its a bridge for your comp to talk to the phone. With adb u can push pull remove files ect ect. Its a tool to learn if u want to get into andtoid modding.

OK. Thanks. So, it's something to download online on my PC, then connect my phone to the PC, and go on from there. Is that correct?
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Yep. Download the android sdk. Android.com
Java will need to be dloaded. Sdk will prompt that.

There is a pretty good thread about ADB that shows up as the first sticky in this questions and Answers forum.

CWM won't mount SD card or USB storage. WIFI not connecting also!

I rooted my gf phone and flashed a new rom. Now I am trying to go back to stock but CWM won't mount her SD card and USB storage and WIFI won't work! Anyone out there know what is going on? I know about the file you have to delete on .android_secure but I can find it even on a computer!

Mmm, many questions...
Do you try full wipe/factory reset before installing new room?
Are you using a kustom kernel? If yes, try to reflash it. Customs kernels also includes CWM Recovery.
Sorry for my english!
Luck!
I did a full reset wipe and no I just installed the rom. Which at the moment I'm forgetting what its called
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Well. This is the first custom room you installed? If not, probably is a room bug, or the compatibility with your phone is not 100% funtionally.
If yes, perhaps the root is not correct. Why you dont try to re-root your phone?
Or try with another room and tested.
If still not working, dont worry, we will solve it!
Try BH's back to stock one click.
I'm curious what ROM you are using? Go to settings - about phone and it will tell you the name.
It was the ICBINB rom I believe.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I have rooted phones and installed roms but this is the first time I work on this phone. I rooted it a while back and barely flashed a rom on it. I pressed the recommended setting on it not custom.
Which would be the best way to re root it?

As Jigglynuts mentioned previously, go grab bhundven's one-click from the development section. The 3rd one listed in that post is KJ6 (GB), has CWM & it's rooted. All you need to run it is to have Java installed on your machine.

i got this phone yesterday and i'm not new to android or custom roms. but i derped pretty hard and stopped at step 7b of this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223765
and it would mount the sd card, but i noticed i didn't finish so i did the other steps and i've been able to flash roms, this program can also return you to stock i believe (some one else should confirm, or you can read about it in the wiki)
so if nothing else works you should try it.

Flash the stock ICS fxz for your phone.

Make sure to flash the one for your specific model, cross flashing could cause issues.

On average it takes about 15-20 mins give or take.well if you do it properly ie flash the correct version of fxz for your phone there are little chances to fail.but if that happens you can always retry.and hardbrick is very unlikely.

I just have to point this out to EVERYONE. This is one reason you do NOT EVER remove busybox. It was not the fact the the hijack was removed, but because busybox links itself to MANY critical "linux" functions, and it does not re-link those back to the motobox (minimal busybox like binary), or rename old bin files if they were there before, so there are things like mount and other functions that do not work properly.
I am not chastizing the OP here, just making a point to everyone about busybox, as this has been mentioned very little in the forums, so I thought this is a good place to point this out and the hazards with removing busybox, it will bootloop you nearly everytime.
It is better to just fxz back to full stock before/instead of removing busybox. Although I am still really not sure why anyone would want to remove busybox at all, it gives you a ton of linux utilities all in one binary and creates links to things like mount, etc.

I totally dis-agree. It does have bearing in here, because if someone does actually do a search for removing busybox on an atrix 2, this will come up. That was really the ONLY reason I put it here. And also the Brick thread is really for bricks, removing busybox is a whole other can of worms. And look I have respect that you have come up lately and taken an active role in here, but don't forget I have been trail blazing on this phone for over a year now, and have been trying to save people from themselves the whole time, so maybe re-read and think about why I did what I did in here. I am no jumping on you at all, just trying to show you my point.

As Jim said, you CANNOT uninstall a Busybox. So its best to take Ti back of your stuff and do a RSD install, then install busybox of your choice.
