[Q] Speaker grills - crazy question - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This might be a crazy question, but: does anyone's speaker grills look less pronounced than on the various TF promotional pics? I ask, because if the grills were improperly stamped, couldn't that be limiting the amount of sound that's being produced?
I know mine are barely visible, but of course the promotional pics could be enhanced to highlight the grills. So, my question is: are yours as clearly visible?

Can you link to the specific photos so we can compare?
The grills are btw placed a little impractical to my opinion. If you hold it in landscape mode with both hands (what seems to be the most logical way to hold it) your hands are always covering the grills. Just underneath the volume rocker or even better, on top of the device would be a better place..

Irritating Creak / Snap Noise When Pressing Call Button

I have a Sprint Touch Pro. It makes this annoying snapping sound when pressing down on the call button on the bottom left hand corner, as if the chrome faceplate isn't completely or loosely screwed into the black under-pinning piece. Does anyone else have this issue?
I have a similar problem

My keyboard makes a cheap creaking noise when I type. If I press the battery cover in the area around the camera, I hear the same noise. Is there any simple fix for this, it's pretty annoying.
Otherbeing, I think what you hear is the crackle from the speaker....I have it too!
battery noise
for a simple fix to the battery noise, (this is gonna sound really cheap)
fold up a piece of paper and put it on the battery and then put the back cover on... it works...
might take you two or three tries to get the right size and set, but once you have it down, its easy,
and yea it works... (yes i know this is really cheap sounding)

Rattling volume keys

Is anyone experiencing the same as I am?
The volume buttons attached to the back cover are loose, they move about 1mm to every direction and make a rattling noise if I shake the phone or lay it down on a table. Not the quality I got used to in my Nexus One in 1.5 years.
It is the only thing physically wrong on my Sensation, the growing hate towards the Sense is worth another topic though.
I also had some rattling on my volume keys. It was very annoying but it is an easy fix. Just take out the back cover and you will see that volume points on the phone are flat squared points. You can cut some scotch tape that fits on those volume points. I did about two layers on volume up and one layer of tape on volume down. No more rattling anymore!
Not going to tape my 800$ phone :S after a good night sleep I'm facing the hard decision of returning this one...

Microsoft Surface RT build quality

I have had my Surface RT for a few months now and I can honestly say that the build quality of Surface RT is just solid - it feels like a slab of titanium or something. It doesn't get dents, it gives dents..to walls, tables etc.
Not that I think it is a problem, especially when compared to the competition, but I am not sure the precision of the build quite matches this great solidity. I am looking to do a little comparison so I am going to list all the little tiny misfits I could find on my Surface because I am wondering if these are common or just random.
1. The kickstand is not perfectly flush with the device when closed. And it sticks out a tiny bit more on the power connector side of the Surface.
2. The thin metal plate on the back above the kickstand doesn't seem to be flush with the case near the 3.5mm audio jack. Also, at the same side it seems a bit dent inwards on the corner where it meets the plastic strip (see attached photo).
3. The screen glass seems to go just a little bit deeper into the device right below the capacitive Windows button. It's mostly flush everywhere else.
4. The whole device seems a bit bent like a boomerang. I tried putting a ruler on the screen lengthways, and the middle of the screen didn't reach the ruler.
All of these things listed are barely noticeable.
Also, though the finish seems really tough, I think it might be a bit weaker near one of the corners where some grey metal spots started appearing.
I am not having any issues with the touch cover though you can easily tell it's been used just by looking at the bending place and the rubbery corners.
Despite all this I am confident that this is by far the most stunning piece of hardware I have ever seen, especially bearing in mind it's price.
I just got my second replacement. First one had a light leak in the middle of the screen. The second one that I just returned because of dead pixels was the worst in build quality, probably just a bad batch or unit. It had all the symptoms you describe above. In addition the volume rocker was asymmetric and (-) all the way down with almost no response to a press. All three had/have the thin metal plate at the camera not entirely flush with the rest towards the audio jack. This new unit I have is otherwise perfect. the kickstand is perfectly even, the buttons are all symmetric in response. Most importantly the screen on this is perfect, no dead pixels or light leaks (only the ones at the edge which are only visible in the dark). Very happy with this one.
If you live close to an MS store I'd take it in and ask nicely if the problems you see warrant a replacement. I did and had no issues with exchange.
cheers

K1 Speaker may be faulty

Just wanted to ask if anyone who has the K1 about their speakers
I feel on my unit the sound coming out of the top speaker is louder than the bottom speaker is that normal? for example at max volume I can feel the vibration of the sound from the top speaker but not the bottom.
Also I can make the bottom speaker frame click by pressing on it like the plastic is slightly separating (This in particular is concerning) but I wanted to see if it was a manufacturing thing I cba RMA'ing for a replacement just for that to have the same issue.
It happens when you press on the top of the bottom speaker with your thumb kinda like jiggling a tooth you'll hear it and feel it move.

speaker are ok for me..
About the clicking it depends..
On mine it's not the speaker that move but a little click came from the rear tablet panel...but it's definitively not faulty...only normal plastic assembly

I've got the clicking when pressing around speaker grills on both top and bottom edges. Not sure what to think about it but I don't like it. Might return it and keep the Dell 7840.

[SPAM] Blitzwolf VR headset (with actual pics)

I received this item for free in exchange for an honest review.
Before I begin, I'd like for everyone reading to know that this item is basically the EXACT same item I reviewed a short while ago (the ShineCon). You can find that review in my sig. That being said, The functionality and quality of the two VR headsets are identical. Nothing seems any different from one another, except the brand printed on the front. FOV, clarity of lenses, softness of pads, feel of adjustment knobs, strength of magnet, etc. all feel the same. This is also the reason why I essentially just copy and pasted my review over from the the other thread.
<MODERATOR EDITED - SPAM REFERRAL LINKS DELETED>
Phone tested with headset: Nexus 6P (no case, just a vinyl skin)
Pros:
- clarity is awesome
- comfort with the soft pads is great
- easy to adjust focal length as well as space between eyes
- easy to adjust headstrap
- can use the phone's USB and AUX ports while in use
- front plate is removable for ventilation
Cons:
- no magnet for Google Cardboard support
- cumbersome to mount our sizable phone (even without case)
- can be a bit heavy if used to watch anything for extended periods of time
- a little bit of light can leak into the viewing cavity from the nose area
Comfort:
In comparison to the original Google Cardboard, it's obviously more luxurious and comfortable. The Blitzwolf has faux leather all around the areas that contact your face, except for the nose. The nose area is where a bit of light leaks in, but can easily be remedied with a bit of foam. However, I decided to leave this open as a port for ventilation because the phone can get warm depending on what type of VR content you're consuming.
The head straps are also made of good quality Velcro, so it's easily adjustable. The placement of the straps also seem pretty ideal, as the headset doesn't seem to be torquing my head downwards too much while in use.
Features:
The Blitzwolf has a few knobs to tweak the lens' position. There is a single knob on top that adjusts the distance between the lens. There's also knobs on either side of the headset that adjusts the fore/aft of the entire phone to bring the display into focus.
The phone loads into the headset with a spring/clamp mechanism. However, I found it difficult to load/unload my N6P mostly because the phone itself is pretty large for the mount. I wouldn't recommend any phone larger than the N6P for the Blitzwolf, but there's a tiny bit of wiggle room if you insist. The clamping mechanism also seems rather fragile, as the plastic bends pretty easily. The tabs for the clamp are also rather thin. If it does break, the clamp/tray can be removed with a few screws, and you could load the phone into the headset with some foam. Once the phone is loaded into the tray, all you do is fold the front "door" back into position and a magnet keeps things closed. The magnet seems sufficiently strong to hold my N6P without any problems. There is also an extra backplate that can be removed (attached via magnet) to allow better ventilation of your device, as well as exposing the camera for augmented reality, etc.
The front door also has a gap on either side of the headset, allowing for easy access to any ports on the phone that are on the top or bottom of the phone's edges. I could easily charge my N6P and use headphones while using the Shinecon.
Viewing Content:
Since this headset does not include any of its own software, I can only talk about the experience provided by 3rd party apps. I used Cardboard Theater to view my own content, and tested other VR videos with VRSE and Youtube. Everything was very simple to use, and the lens were of great quality. Picture was very clear, and the FOV was fantastic. Using Cardboard Theater, I was able to adjust "how far I am to the screen." In other words, it felt like I was on the front row of the theater with very good immersion. Not much black space on the edges of the field, which was a problem on the original Google Cardboard headset. I don't know the FOV values, but I'm pretty satisfied with what I'm seeing.
Build Quality:
Overall build quality was better than expected. Everything fit together very nicely. Nothing was squeaky. There were no loose threads on the leather. The hinges did not creak. The lenses weren't scratched or warped. I basically had no complaints. Especially given the very cheap price, I would definitely buy it again. This headset was slightly more pricey than a few other Chinese brand headsets, but the quality and FOV/immersion seemed to justify the slightly higher price tag.
TLDR:
I liked it. I would buy it again.
