Hi,
I'm gonna buy my first Android phone and I'm still hesitating between the HTC Incredible S or the Google Nexus S. I have never used Sense so I don't really know if I'm gonna like it but it seems to be a nice feature.
The only thing why I'm hesitating about the Incredible S it's because that there's no rooting solution for now...
And no 720p recording on the Nexus S WTF??

Hey There,
The bootloader is pretty much a no-go on the Incredible S, as you probably know. For now, anyway.
Keep in mind that on the Incredible S if you don't like Sense, you can just download another Launcher to replace it. You cannot, however, get Sense on the Nexus S.
Personally I have had the Nexus S and am awaiting an Incredible S right now. I found the Nexus good to use but did not enjoy the plasticy, cheap feeling. The screen is marvellous, and I liked that it had 'stock' Android. I have used a lot of Android phones however, and find Sense to be the best Launcher included by a manufacturer. It is extensive, pretty and rolls everything together for you if you desire.
Good luck in the decision, looking forward to hearing what you decide!

Hi , having been an avid HTC user a while back, rom changing etc, I got an iphone and have used that since. I once went back to a HTC touch pro 2 but didnt like it so ended up getting an Iphone 4 on release. Since then I still have a longing for HTC so am wondering whether to get another? I want to get away from the iphone to tinker with HTC again but cannot decide, what do you guys think?
I was looking at a desire Z because I want a physical keyboard so am hoping to swap for my Iphone 4.
My phone is in as new condition with box and accessories bought from Apple so is unlocked to all networks.
Let me know if interested, cheers. Stu.
Just looked at this lol
http://forum.iphone-developers.com/general-discussion/541-iphone-htc-desire-z-swap.html
I got a Z today, and I must say it's an amazing phone
Of course hTC Desire Z!!!
Stick with HTC
This should be self-explanatory, Desire Z FTW!
HTC Mogul (old)> iPhone (any model)
i had the same choice here in canada, went with the desire z and no regrets so far. though i briefly used swype on my friend's captivate and it was definitely impressive and with a larger screen thats nice... but no flash on the camera is a downer. iphone... meh
Isn't it pretty dumb to ask a question like that here at XDA? The people here will, of course, vote for the HTC. Looking for Android fanboys? Well, XDA is the place. You won't get a single objective answer here.
That's like asking the guys at Mercedes if you should get an Audi. The answer won't surprise you.
No no no, bazooka, I stated that I had HTC touch pro 2 previously and didnt like it. I just wanted a subjective view if things had improved since then.
Oh, i see
The answer is yes. HTC has improved since the Touch Pro 2. Check out some videos on YouTube or something, or take a HTC out for a spin. HTC and Android matches perfectly, and HTC has improved big time the last year(s).
I love my Desire Z (T-Mobile G2) that I just picked up, but they keyboard probably isn't for me. I think I would prefer an HTC Glacier (MyTouch 4G) instead.

Thanks Bazooka, I looked around and they do look better on video, so hopefully will get some interest for my iphone and go back to the good old days of rom flashing etc.
Was'nt too sure about the android OS , but seems to have come on a lot with the apps growing and growing.
I love the physical keyboards, had a wizard first off and had others all with keyboards.
Just something I am comfortable with .

Android is great, but IMO it's not "there yet". Don't get me wrong, it's good, but it can get better, and it will.

Hi guys. I am planning to buy one of those phones listed above. Please help me decide. I dont know what to buy. I love Samsung google nexus S but ive seen so manyy nega feedbacks about it. what are the pros and cons of HTC desire HD and Samsung Google Nexus S. Please help me guys. About the software, is there any issue on google nexus S? and is google nexus S gonna get every update on android? and how about desire HD?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
CHEERS!
For me the Nexus S is the more desirable of the two because it is stock Android. I just don't see the need for Sense bloatware...but that's just me

yes but the desire is very easy to root and S-off so you can get it to stock pretty easily using a rom like cyanogen 7
my friend has a nexus S and i still like my DHD better even if it is from a purely aesthetic point of view, performance is pretty much the same @ stock but i think the nexus responds to overclocking better than the DHD thats if you actually plan on overclocking.
The HTC Desire HD has HTC Sense HD.... its great!
And you have SOFF and Root so you can put plan Android on it.
U can do this at the Nexus S too but i think the Desire HD is the better Phone! Just because of Sense and its look
thats a touph decision, they are both great phones.
buy them both.
I cant afford to buy them both.. im still a 16 yr old student andd i have two phones. i am planning to sell them and buy nexus S. andd have another with a black and white screen :|
Im thinking rly hard for these, i like the design of Nexus S and its pure android. i can get each and every update that will be released on the next months. i also like DHD but its design is a no no for me.typical rectangular shaped phone and im also worried about its updates because DHD might not get future updates.
Naaah, im really confused.
Thanks for your replies sir *salutes*
EDIT: and also ive heard that the battery of the HTC desire HD sucks. what should i do? help please. thanks!
Nexus S = no sd card
Is it true that the Nexus S has no SD Card slot? That would be the deal breaker for me to not get that phone.
Get a Hd2, the most customizable phone going, you can then use a desire or froyo or gingerbread rom, or even wp7 if you fancy it.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
If I could choose between Nexus S, DHD and HD2, i would definately take the HD2! Hardware of the DHD and HD2 are nearly the same and it costs only half of the DHD. You can choose out of many OS's and the Android-feeling on the HD2 is native.
If you want a short answer:
There is no big difference between these phones, only the price matters.
First I wasn't sure if I should by the DHD or HD2 and I took the latter. A used HD2 but in very good condition for 180€ is a fair price. And DHD for 450€ is too expensive for me as a 17y old student ;D
First of all hello and excuse my English.
temptation has been really bugging me To trade my nexus s plus cash$100 for a brand new htc sensation. I did try the sensation in my local t-mobile store and i found couple of little cons like laggy, screen is not even close as nice as the nexus s, desing in person is not as good looking a the NS .
Now things i like is the camera, screen size, sense 3.0, and a bit future proof for only $100 more and i did pay $100 for my NS
Last time i sold my nexus s for a g2x i regreat it so please help
your own choice .
looking at the fact that you sold your nexus s for a g2x in the past shows that your not really a nexus user anyways
and the fact you want sense 3.0.
so go buy it.
but if i had to chose id go for the evo 3D.

Well is not that i want sense because i love it or miss it because i never used sense before. I do wanna try it and i know at the end is my decision but i heard and read lots of software problems that hold me back.

If you have to ask us, then yes trade it. I myself hate Sense and not impressed by HTC build quality.
I used sensation for a few days and i wouldnt trade. The screen is awful, bootloader is not unlocked yet, dont like how hard buttons are, looks like gonna break in a month.
BUT, browser experience is amazing and screen keyboard makes me sad with mu nxs...
Personally, i took the decision of only trade my nexus for another nexus, but it's up to up...

Have fun with a less quality screen, unlocked bootloader, and waiting for updates.
When Ice Cream Sandwich comes out, it'll most likely take months to come for the phone to receive its update. Nexus S? Probably on the week its announced.
By the time the Sensation gets their ICS update, the phone will be insignificant and much better will be out by then.
Sense 3.0 is all about 'eye-candy' and 'appealing' the consumer. Functionality? Stock Android and a rooted/custom ROM'd Android does so much more.
Since I owned a HTC Hero and a Google Nexus One I wanted something new. So I changed to a Windows phone. The LG Optimus 7 is a great phone, really easy in use, great build quality,... I just have 1 problem, I miss Android to much So, because the Nexus S is so low in price I was wondering if it's still a good choice? I know the hardware is a bit outdated, but it seems that it's still is a great phone with a lot of ROM developement.
What do you guys think?

Wait for the nexus prime imho
Sent from my Nexus S 4G powered by Matr1x/CO2 using Tapatalk
Ow, forgot to tell about that. I don't like phones with such big screens. The nexus S has imo perfect screensize. If the Nexus prime had smaller screensize I would have waited.
And the low price of the Nexus S is nice too.
Then why wait?
Because I wanted to hear some other opinions
Is it still worth it? If you look at the price imo then yes.
I just sold my evo 3d and got a nexus. IMO the nexus is a better device. I don't even want to root it, yet.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
I am also concerned about the size of the new Nexus ... time will tell. In the meantime I swapped my Evo for an NS4g. With Oxygen and Franco's latest kernel ... I could be happy with this phone for a long time.

I have an LG Optimus 7 and switched to the Nexus S. Mainly for the same reasons you are looking at. I think the LG is a fantastic phone, but I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with WP7 and wanted to get back to Android. I chose not to wait for the Prime for the same reason as you. I don't like the big screen. The 4.0" on the Nexus S is perfect for me. Its specs aren't that far behind. Here in North America there aren't a lot of phones with front facing camera, which the Nexux S has. It has NFC which I think is going to take off this year. It is going to get an official ICS upgrade if you don't want to root to get it.
The flexibility of Android is fantastic compared to the locked down Windows Phone....I'm so glad to be back with Android, and the Nexus S.
Dave
well sinc the galaxy nexus doesnt have a bezel it doesnt make the phone that much larger
Ok thx guys
I think I will put my Optimus 7 for sale then and go for the Nexus S.
I'd get it still... I have a nexus a 4g and had an epic 4g before that...stock Android has so much going for it that I could only recommend another stock phone like the prime... But as you said, it's not what you are looking for right now.
The build quality on the nexus a is great and it feels like a very solid phone. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone looking at Android in general. Much better than the other non nexus phones I've used

I luv reading these types of threads. Reminds me how great these phones are
I just picked up a Nexus S today and for the few hours I have played with it I am loving it. I don't like big phones either and was a little intimidated by the size but I think it is perfect for me even with tiny hands.
There were no surprises for me either, it is the pure android experience and so easy to use. I recommend the Nexus S to most Android users and would recommend the Galaxy Nexus to those who want the bigger screen.
Hey guys,
I'm looking into buying the Nexus 5 as I feel like I want a much faster and more responsive Android experience and I also want to get a phone that is very well supported by the developers of XDA...
I have had both of the following handsets previously:
-HTC Wildfire(Buzz)
-HTC One V(PrimoU)
My biggest complaints about my previous handsets are that the Android experience is very slow, sloppy and HTC Sense'd meaning that to get an acceptable level of performance out of them they had to be rooted and flashed with 'close to Google' ROMs and because of the lack of developers that were interested in these devices they were relatively unstable even with their best ROMs.
My real question is pointed at users who currently have a Nexus 5 and had a relatively comparable phone to the HTC Wildfire or HTC One V, am I making the right move (based on what I've said) to buy the Nexus 5 and do you think that it's worth its money or are there better phones available in your opinion?
Absolutely get the N5.
I don't think there is a better option for a phone right now than the n5.

Well my mom had the One V. And that phone sucks if you compare it with the N5.
The Nexus5 is soooo much faster and better. And for this price you cant get a better phone at the moment.
It's almost perfect
I have had;
HTC hero
Nexus one (HTC)
HTC one X
Nexus 4
Getting my nexus 5 tomorrow.
The most comparable ones for me are going to be the htc one x to the nexus 4
The one x was a better phone than the one v that you have but still the jump to the nexus 4 was a massive upgrade in terms of performance and stability from the one x.
So you are going from a slower phone than I had to a faster phone than I have and I was happy with my upgrade so you should be very pleased with your new phone.

I haven't had your exact previous phone, but I had a Droid 1 and GSII and I promise you, you'll love the N5, it's just an amazing piece of machinery, especially for the price.
If you're a tweaker/modder or someone who enjoys exploiting the android OS for all of it's open source worth then the N5 is by far the best device you could ask for as of right now in my honest opinion. If not, there are other devices with better hardware on a more powerful platform. For me.....I had to get the Nexus.

Absolutely get the N5. There's a world of difference between old non-Nexus phones like the HTC Wildfire and the Nexus 5, not to mention the Nexus devices are made to be modded. There's literally no device easier to mod than a Nexus, and if you don't want to mod, the Nexus's stock firmware is still way better than HTC Sense or Samsung TouchWiz.
I have had the GSII, Galaxy Nexus, GSII before. Ok, the last step from the GSIII was not that, but I am still very happy with the purchase.
