Using CM7; is it possible to use the touchwiz calendar and clock apps and load them into CM7?
The alarm clock on the CM7 ROM is not as good as the Touchwiz one. The calendar is also a little better on the touchwiz vs. AOSP/CM7 one...
Does CM7 have touchwiz?
Nope, Cm7 is based on aosp, touch wiz is a samsung exclusive thing.
also there is an entire sticky devoted to cm7 questions. didn't really need a new thread...
tw widgets need tw launcher running even on stock roms. as far as the apps i think they need tw framework to run in the first place. not sure though. basically get over the aosp thing and hop on the jvb bandwagon. ideal and beliefs aside there are reasons that the whole comunity didnt flash cm7 and start building aosp spin offs. some the the touch wiz software is very user friendly and not quite as ugly as the aosp versions.

What is the chance of FC on apps from sense being on Cyanogenmod (Torch, Friend Stream etc to replace the Lockscreen)?
I have the feeling Rosie Stuff & Sense Framework Would Be Required?
Also In theory what is the difference between Odex & Apks?
Torch is included in cm and the rest will not work period without the sense framework. In other words if u want sense apps and lock screens flash a sense rom as cm is aosp. That or learn how to port the things u want from cm to a sense rom. Adding sense to aosp is exactly what HTC does when they build sense roms so doing it yourself would be pointless.

Yeap. Simple fact is sense apps wont work without the sense framework.
Theres some decent clones though. Like launcher pro's friends widget etc.
So i'm in an ICS phase right now, and I really enjoy the stock gingerbread launcher in terms of how smooth it is. I found this original GB launcher on one of the forums that's been modified previously before.
I took the liberty of theming the bottom bar to match more closely to ICS. I'm not sure how many will actually use this launcher as it doesn't have much functionality, but it does give you that feeling of AOSP with a hint of ICS.
Therefor i thought i'd post it as my first contribution to XDA.
So I've loaded up Virtuous Inquisition and noticed it uses Nova launcher. My question is, what would have been the difference if I just used a Sense ROM and installed Nova launcher from the play store? What makes ROMs so different from just a launcher?
None.. Virtuous is a sense-less ROM anyway.
Nova have more custom features. The worst about using other launchers is that u lose ability to use Sense widgets.
What makes a rom different is not only the looks but internal system tweaks aswell.. just look at ARHD..
Sensationaly sent from my Sensation.
the rom is the whole software but the launcher is just the program that manages the homescreen and how it launches the apps. you can mix and match launchers and roms
There are quiet some differents between ROMS, first of all you have the tweaked sense roms (from which the original source code comes from HTC) and the Android Open Source Project roms, those are much lighter to run and are without any bloatware. However, you should try them out yourself.
So whats the best MIUI rom for the nexus s samoled??
I really like the stock look on orginal ics 4.0.4, but the battery life doesnt satisfy me enought.. So if i choose a miui rom based on 2.3.6 instead of 4.0 versions of miui, is the battery going to be better??
And i would really like to have example 1, 2. 3, top miui roms
Would really appriciate it
I've been sticking to MIUIEXPERIENCE since it has the Xperia launcher included in the ROM. Most MIUI roms don't have a launcher so there is no app drawer.
Since MIUI sticks to the Apple interface, you won't have a launcher in the rom. If you choose Catalyst or Oodie Prime, which are just as well put together, you can download ZEAM launcher form the market or any other launcher if you prefer the app drawer.
Also, all MIUI roms have an app called Themes that comes with it. You use this app to download hundreds of different layouts and icons, including ICS themes.
I dont know if this is at all possible without theming but I was curious if you could get the sense 4+ on an aosp rom. Maybe not all the extra apps like the music and messaging and camera but the lockscreen and the widgets. I have tried all sorts of stuff with go launcher and beautiful widgets but they just don't do it justice. Is there a way to port this???? Has it already been done?

First of all, this should be in the Q&A section. Secondly, the closest you will get is a modded Sense ROM. I jumped ship from sense as fast as I could so I don't really follow the news, but I have heard that Viper ROM is the most AOSP-like Sense ROM.
No... Certain aspects or sense rely on the sense launcher... Like the clock...idk about the lockscreen...but mostly everything else is a no go on a diff launcher
Sense is very heavily tied into the framework. Ports are possible, like when I had a captivate there was a sense port but it was extremely unstable. It's just not worth the hassle really

you could always use a senseless rom so you could have other launchers but have sense lockscreen still
Go with Viper rom, use Apex or Nova launchers. You will have an Aosp style launcher while still maintaining the lockscreens, and HD Widgets will look just like sense.

In my experience all third-party launchers introduce a notable lag (compared to Rosie) when opening home screens, app drawer, etc. And this is with all possible animations and other eye candy turned off. Seems that as long as Sense is running in the background you have to go through an extra layer to get to the Launcher.
