[CM7]Got voice search/speech to text issues? - HTC Inspire 4G

I stumbled upon this in my quest to find a solution to the VS /STT issues I've been having. I've confirmed that if I'm in a very quiet environment they both work correctly but as soon as I get in a noisy one, neither work.
Please see if your results coincide with this, if they do we know what to submit to the cm7 devs.
Tia,

A little misunderstanding about possible bugs.

Aparently there is a misunderstanding as to what is a bug and what is not.
Please do not state there is a bug directly, ask if anyone else is experiencing the same issue. If more people are then we can call it a bug, if not, then it has to be something you are doing.
These phones are just like computers, You can have 2 very identical units, but the way a person uses it will effect the way the device works. Alot of times, bugs reside in what the user does and not with the applications themselves.
I too have found interesting settings in a program that I had been using for awhile and thought, oh that sounds cool, let me check that.
This changes the whole experience.
So please, for the sake of developement and troubleshooting, When posting a possible bug, please include any registry modifications and what applications you have installed. Also, post any settings and version numbers for the applications you are having issues with. This helps the people trying to help you out with troubleshooting and locating these so called bugs.
Thank you for your time.

[PROJ] Morphing Voice during phone call

Development thread for a software method to morph your voice during a phone call
The idea is to develop a software method which let's you morph your voice during a phone call. There are many ways to achieve this and I am amenable to suggestions.
Since I was not able to find any API which let's you configure the voice or the stream from the microphone or something similar I came up with the idea to write a driver for the microphone, which would give me the ability to change my voice directly within it, but after some research it was clear to me that it can't be that easy.
Updates:
05.05.2010 - Microphone driver solution died. Researching for a new way...
Windows Mobile doesn't seem to have any influence on the microphone during a phone call. Deeper research about the hardware of the phone is necessary (processors, DSP/MDSP,....).
HELP IS APPRECIATED AND ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME
I will update this thread as some news appear.
Please write your suggestions and your ideas directly as post in this thread.
Good idea !
good luck , i'll watch this thread
You'll get a better response in this forum...

You've posted in a HD2 specific forum, but that one is specific to Windows Mobile software development.
Device specific
The reason why I posted it here is that I am going to develop the driver on this device (HD2 Leo) and because the only solution so far i figured out is developing a driver, which is device specific.
good idea, i have been after an app similar to the "i am t-pain" (autotune)app from iphone
please can you use autotune?
God speed to you good sir!

Fair enough, but surely it wouldn't be a device specific driver to do this? Never mind.
This will be great for extortions. The question is whether we can find a way to disgiuse the phone's ID and location (which can be found using cellular triangulation) otherwise we have achieved nothing here.
lol this would be a fun one... hopefully you can work some magic and create a special treat for us hd2 users

Autotune is an app for iphone, which obviously can't help us here.
In addition autotune doesn't morph your voice during a phone call.
The main problem here is not the morphing itself (such apps already exist for WinMo), but the fact that it needs to be done while you make an active call.

Live morphing during a active phone call would be nice..
There is a software name Voice Twister for Windows mobile which can do live morphing but not during active phone calls..

[APP] UK CCTV Traffic Cameras London 0.4b

Hi guys,
I would like some feedback of my first App on android. It's free and it doesn't have any ads, which means that basically I'm making no money with it
I wanted to know the bugs first and receive some feedback before going any further. I don't own many mobile phones at the moment and all I got is some friends (nexus one) and an emulator to try this app.
My questions are:
- Could you please try this app. and give me some constructive feedback?
- If you like the app, could you rate it on android market, please?
(thank you in advance!)
Description:
Check more than 150 CCTV cameras around London.
Whether you are a tourist or a Londoner you can use this simple but effective application to "auto-detect" some of the nearest CCTV cameras around you.
You can also find some cameras (in London) by typing the street name.
(This software is not endorsed, affiliated or owned by TfL)
Screenshots:
("new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed" )
(I've been reading the forum for a while but this is my first post, I think)
Thank you.
Edit:
New in 0.4b:
- some bug fixes
- backwards compatibility
(I was forced to change the layout, I'm wondering whether it still works on 2.2 as it used to. Hope so!. Thank you for testing this app!)
Force Closed for me on froyo N1. Seems well thought out, and maybe it'll work better on 2.1 >
I personally have no practical use for this, not living in London, but as the description says, it might be useful for tourists and residents etc.
Hopefully other people might be able to get it to work successfully on other versions of android.
Keep up the work - nice to see new devs who don't just make spam apps.
Thank you very much for your feedback. It's very helpful. I had the chance to try the app on a google nexus one (so far 2.1 and 2.2 only).
I think I should probably put some restrictions on my sdkversion (I'm gonna read a bit more about that but if someone want to share some hints regarding that matter I'm all ears!)
Once again, THANK YOU!
EDIT: have you got the chance to see any screen before the "force close"?
have you been using 3G when this happened? (Thanks)
Works good dude...i just don't know any street names in London - lol
I saw Cambridge from your screenshot...it worked awesome
Running Nexus One CM6 Froyo 91
@bong_sniffer Thank you for your feedback. This is the first comment I've got from someone I don't know in person saying that it works. Cheers mate!
@grandmasterethel I've found the problem (I think). It's because I was using something available just in 2.2. ("street view" button). I'm gonna try to fix that for "backwards compatibility".
Now that you mention it, yes I was on 3G. It loaded the main menu just fine, and then it found the nearest camera to me (not even close because I don't live in london, but I imagine it is the closest really) but the when I pressed the button to get the camera view, it crashed.
fc on froyo over wifi
@ermacwins, @grandmasterethel, sorry to bother again but, I wanted to ask if please, when you got the chance, could you possibly try again the new version 0.4b and tell me how it goes?
does it work? does it cause the FC at the same point?
Once again, thank you for your feeback!
still fc on stock 2.2
Have it running on FRF91 build FroYo fine. Not that keen on the UI though. Button alignment and graphics are a bit off.
Not an issue though as it's a beta and it's free. Really handy application though.
Looking forward to the next build. Keep the good ideas rollin'.
@markouk thank you for your feedback. I wanted to ask you, can you use the UI or is it seriously messed up?. Sorry about that, I had to change the UI after changing the sdkversion and, for some reason -all of a sudden- the UI just changed. I'll be working on that. The UI is not going to be "amazing" but at least I hope to have everything organised.
@UmarKhan Thank you for your report. Finally, I managed to get FC while testing in a place with poor GPS reception. To some extent, I'm happy it happened to me, because I can finally understand what's happening, so, I'll be working on that issue!
Thank you all for trying the app, I'll be trying to solve those bugs.
Just gave it another try. Works perfectly on FRF91. Congratulations.
Sorry for the delay by the way, was AFK for a few days.
@grandmasterethel thank you for your feedback. I found another bug when there's poor GPS reception but I'm working on it (as well as the UI). If you find another FC, please, let me know.

[SOLVED] Diverted Call/Waiting Call information

Though it's not a new thing, I was very surprised that nobody have or made such an application. There are several topics on XDA related to this subject, in none there is given an answer or solution.
What I am talking about? I am talking about the display of an indicator (graphic and/or text) to show if an incomming call is diverted from another number (say you have one number that is diverted on your actual one and someone is calling the first one) or if you call somebody and your call is "waiting" cause the other party is already in a call (and has call waiting function active on his phone).
These are two things that are present in most Nokia phones, some Samsung or LG have it and also some Sony Ericsson. But I never saw it on an Android phone (maybe the Samsung owners have it, I don't know)
Is there so hard to make such an application for Android? I'm sure alot of us needs it and will even pay for it (I will). There was something created for WinMo devices called O2 Plus V2.3 that offered this functionality, I can hardly believe there's noone that can make something similar for Android. I've created a similar topic in the Legend subforum but...nothing.
This can help alot for ex if you have two numbers, a business and a personal one, and after working hours you're closing the business phone and divert it to your personal number. In case someone is calling, it's good to know if it was calling on your personal number or maybe on your business one....and there are many samples like this.
If the guys made it for WinMo devices (PPC) I'm sure it can be made for Android as well.

OK. So I've partially solved the issues. Or should I say it was solved by itself.
Doing some tests today, I saw that THERE IS an diverted call notification on my phone.
It's not included in the Android itself, nor in the dialer but I found that is showing when I receive a call made to one of my diverted numbers.
I think it is MIUI related, it is the only ROM on which this was happening. I've tested with CM7.1 right now and regardless of which number I call (the "active" one or the "diverted" one), the incoming call display looks the same. For MIUI though, things are different, there is an "Forward incoming call(s)" row below the displayed number.
I've made several tests and for sure it is indicating when you are called directly or on another number that is diverted on your number. I also attached two print screens for the normal call and the diverted one.
Maybe some other MIUI owners can confirm this, but till now no other ROMs are offering this (as far as I know) and this will make happy alot of people. Still there's no notification in case you are calling someone and you are "waiting" but that was not as important as this one.
you might want to ask a MOd to close the thread as its already solved.

Viber No Sound

Anyone else not getting sound on a call from Viber? People can hear me...I can't hear them.
Hi,
This is a member of Viber's development team.
@spielnicht - what device do you have? Do you have stock or custom ROM?
Which Viber version?
Thanks in advance.
Viber Team
Viber no sound on GARMIN ASUS A10
Hullo,
same problem here. I got a GARMIN ASUS A 10 with Android 2.1-update1 and VIBER is 2.1.2 version
Many thanks for any help
leo
This problem can have 2 different reasons:
1. The device is not officially supported by Viber. Unfortunately, that's the case of GARMIN Asus...
2. Sometimes Custom ROMs may be the source of this problem.
Android GARMIN-ASUS: Why Not?
Hi there and thank you very much for your reply.
To be very honest with you, I don't see clearly the point why it isn't.
I know many, many GARMIN-ASUS happy users here in Europe who would be very happy to use your excellent peace of App along with all the other working ones...Actually, it is the first time I'm able to fully install an App from the Android Market which is not properly working on my device...with no prior information :-( ...By the way, the device is (apparently) working fine with all other Viber features (especially texts, which is already quite nice)...and if there are no special (technical? commercial?) reasons, I wonder why you cannot work out this GARMIN-ASUS related sound issue as well...
Have an excellent day from Europe!
leo
Well,
As a company, we naturally have limited resources. We wish we could develop full compatibility for all devices out there, but unfortunately we can't.
We're looking at the global market shares of Android devices, and GARMIN-ASUS is one of the least popular ones (even though we acknowledge that it is not a "bad" device, etc.)
I didn't say we would neglect it, I just said it might take sometime before we attend to test it fully. In the meanwhile, if indeed you know so many Viber users who are longing for full compatibility, you may gather them and jointly open many ticket to our support team. The more tickets, the bigger chances that we will prioritize this task
Here's the link to our support team: http://support.viber.com
no entry for device compatibility or similar
Well,
I'd like to do that but, apparently, the wizard for support queries doesn't allow me to do that (I mean, either to me or to the thousands of other Garmin-Asus all around ) as, apparently, there is no- entry for such an issue.
leo
You can find a way to simply open an individual ticket and then write your request (again - please note that only if it is a joint request by many users, then it will have effect).
Hello, Thank you Viber Team for replying to the issues in this thread.
I recently (yesterday) installed Viber on my Galaxy S2 X - Telus (Canada) and it installed without issue. I can see friends and call / msg them but when I connect I can't hear any audio and they can't hear me as well. I have tried using both 3g/4g and wifi and received the same result.
Have you experienced this issue before? Is there a way for me to pull a log to determine the error. I'm just guessing but it seems lke the signalling is working properly and there is a problem establashing the rtp stream.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide. I look forward to using this kick ass app
xluthor
I see you also sent me this via private message, so please see my response there
Same issue, galaxy S (I9000)
I m having the same issue in galaxy S, that I cant hear anything but the other person do hear.
I have stock rom, 2.3. With viber ver 2.1.2.
I also saw this model in the support list.
I also raised a ticket 2 days ago, which still in process of evaluation.
Suggestion required!
Thnx
Thanks for opening the ticket on our support site, our team will contact you back shortly.
The no-sound issue on some Galaxy devices is still being investigated by our dev team, and that is why tickets like the one you opened are important to us.
If a solution is found with your help and our support team, please share it here for all users to see
they can't hear me...
Hello, I got Samsung Galaxy S, custom ROM... rc4, Android version 4.0.3, VIber version 2.1.4
Everything is great but people can't hear me !
a few days ago I had another problem. I could not get the code, but it resolved after one day when I installed the second time, and now this....
I hope you help me about it ... Thanks
@dzgoran -
Might be a problem with the Custom ROM. Have you tested Viber on Stock ROM? Same problem?
why? i dont know.. I was downloaded from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398223
tnx...
You'll need to contact that ROM's developers. Unfortunately we can't afford to fully support all Custom ROMs out there...

After unlocking receive notification of missed calls or SMS.Viber 2.1.6 and 2.3.6, Android.

I understand now.
Please make sure of the following:
1. Your C2DM service is working properly. You can check it with Android developers themselves, and also make sure a Google Account is associated with your phone.
2. Do Viber's notifications work fine when your phone is not locked?
3. Have you tested this issue when connecting to different WiFi networks?
