anybody running das bamf remix with extended battery? - Thunderbolt General

got the extended battery because i use my phone A LOT and couldn't take the stock... rooted and flashed to das bamf remix1.6.1. did the full data whipe and cache/davik cache whipe, almost everything is working fine. i didn't get any of the themes/skins das bamf remix was supposed to come with.
also, one other huge and annoying issue, my battery life is not updating properly, even though the battery will be dying, the level will either not move for a really long time and drop 20% or something all of a sudden, or upon reboot.
anybody having similar issues or have any advice for me?
also what radios are you guys using with das bamf remix ? im going to flash to 1.6.2, but i wasn't sure what new radio leak to get. im new to the whole android, smartphone, and rooting thing.
any help or suggestions would be much appreciated !

Calibrate your battery. Go to the das bamf toolkit, troubleshooting then wipe battery stats. Make sure you charge your phone 100% before. Let it drain all the way and charge it back up with the phone off. Should be good after that.

Just read through the first post on the dasBamf 1.6 thread. I'd recommend the new radio, though some say they have trouble with it. It's my understanding that you can always flash back.

thanks, i will try the battery wipe stats.. i was actually lookin at that earlier and wondering if that would do anything. i actually just flashed the lightning rom, im going to see if the rom had anything to do with it, otherwise if the problem persists i will check out the battery stats wipe. also is there any links on how to install the new radio? just wouldn't wanna mess it up.

This is my battery on Das Bamf 1.6.1, standard battery. Plenty of texts and emails, some phone.

The radio that comes with 1.6.2 is 4.4.4 there is a 4.4.5 radio but they removed the call recorder in 4.4.5 so I have not flashed to it staying on 4.4.4 until a patch comes out.
Cheers,

I've gotten in the habit of just mostly ignoring the battery indicator. Especially after having read this post yesterday:

Great read, and definitely gave me a better understanding on how these newer phones charge.

Those are kernels - not radios. @OP - Check the "Obligatory Radio Thread" in the development section for the different radio combos.

FROYO_2.2.1_Final_Android_Stock [Hero]

Hey, since I can't post in the main thread since I'm a new poster I'll just ask here. First off I'd like to give my thanks to the developers of this ROM, its awesome
But, there is a problem. It literally _kills_ my battery. I've been searching back and forth on both google and these forums, but I mostly end up with posts about "recalibrating" the battery (recharge, unplug, recharge, wipe battery stats). I've tried this, but still I lack battery power for more than 8 hours of idle time (my phone shuts down in a nights sleep if it was fully charged right before going to bed).
At first I thought that my battery was singing its last verse, so I flashed the original ROM for the Hero. The problem was not there, so I have to assume that the ROM is doing something it shouldn't.
If anyone has any experience with this ROM and kernel I would really appreciate some advice on what to do as the ROM is far better than the stock rom for the Hero.
Phone: Hero standard european.
ROM: FROYO_2.2.1_Final_Android_Stock
Kernel: 2.6.29.6 Hero_Kernel-12pre2esa elelinux-notebook #4
Thanks in advance
I've just installed this ROM, I'll let you know if I get the same problem
I'm having problems getting the ROM to boot but I'll let you know once I've fixed it *fingers crossed*

CM7 MR2.5 bat issues

Hello to all you great people! I am not new to this site but I havent posted much or at all. This site is increadible and has taught me a ton about what a droid can do once you know how to use it. Thanks everyone! Anyway I have a question that I would of posted in the CM7 dev thread but I dont have permission since I havent posted much. Is anyone having bat drain issues with the newest build (RC1.1 MR2) using the GB radio 2.5? I have lost over 10% bat life in 25 mins while in airplane mode, no data including wifi and the screen was only on for maybe 2 or 3 mins. It may be a problem on my end but I just wanted to see if anyone else is having an issue with this. Oh and thanks to all you devs for doing all the hard work and dealing with angry wifes or girlfriends! We all appreciate it!

On mr2 it did feel like my battery was draining faster than normal.. with the stock kernel at least. Glad I'm not the only one try switching kernels
Sent from my Incredible using XDA Premium App
I actually had this problem too with the stock kernel, and once I overclocked with the Dream kernel it actually stopped draining my battery, strange.
I did try using Imoseyon's CM7 leankernel but had the same effect. Ill try the dream kernel and report back. Thank guys!!
I'm on my first day with this build of CM7, with MR2.5 and noticed my battery has drained way faster than it did with gingeritis.
Did you try wiping battery stats?
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
Is there an official name for this kernel, or someplace to get it? I tried a quick Google search for "htc thunderbolt dream kernel", and it didn't bring up anything definite.
I noticed the battery drain too. CM7 7.1.0 RC1 with the MR2.5 radio. It seems to be "cell standby" that's using the highest percentage of the battery. I have it set to CDMA / EvDo auto.
What programs do you have running? Are you overclocked? I an running mr2.5 cm7.1 rc1.1 and still have 22% on 18 hours unplugged. 3 hour screen on, lots of texting, xda browsing, market updates, and an hour of plans vs zombies. On stock kernel, no overclocking. Using interactive governor.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using Tapatalk
I do have things set to run in the background, but they don't even register a high enough percentage in the battery usage to show there. I was not having battery issues with the 7.0.1 RC 6 on MR1 (the last build).
I've tried two of the utkanos kernels (not the OC one), and the dream kernel. On both of the utkanos kernels, I had no data. I tried rebooting several times, switching data on and off, and changing the network mode. No luck. The dream kernel took several minutes, but data finally came on. I haven't used it long enough to comment on any battery life differences between stock CM7 and this.
Running BAMF getting 1 1/2 on battery easy on 2.5
I am currently running the 2.5 on my BAMF sense 3 2.3.2 dream kernal. My battery is lasting very nicely currently. See the post below I have had better times the best was 1 day and 19 hours.

Ok so here's the news on my end. With the dream kernel things seem much better! However I was watching my ma usage and it went from 48ma to 240ma something after turning on wifi. Then after turning wifi off it never dropped. I rebooted and things went back to a cool 48ma. I'm guessing my original problem was with the stock kernel. But now that I'm on the new one the phone wont power down the wifi or something and made me burn thru my bat till I rebooted. Any ideas gents? Reboot did fix but that usually kills a good 4 to 10% of my bat everytime. I have next to nothing running in the background too.

Guess I should add that now after reboot I'm around 100 ma usage and steady with wifi on. Maybe a reboot once a day might do the trick till CM is finalized. Was thinking bout trying the mr2 radio stead of 2.5. Anyone know if there's a difference or advantage to either?

I was having trouble until i started using the KangBang kernel, that one seems to be the best for me

Battery drain wit das bamf sense 3 rc4

Hi all, newly Rooted and flashed das bamf with sense 3 today and have probably learned more about android phones in a day than I have since I had the tbolt.
Question is my battery seems to be even worse now than it was pre root. Pre root, after disabling blockbuster, I was getting around 12 hrs battery life but I'm pushing maybe 6 hrs with the das bamf rom.
I am using the mr 2.5 radio even though they recommended mr2. The rom comes with the dreamkernjel so I didn't download any other kernels and am over clocked to 1.4 with smart ass governor on. My phone gets pretty hot from doing just about anything and I know from experience once your phone gets hot it's game over for the battery life. I read somewhere it is good to get rid of setcpu since that might conflict with das bamf but I am having no luck trying to uninstall this'd app.
Would really appreciate if anyone had any input or suggestions on this! Thx
why dont you do what the op said and give the mr2 radio a shot and see what that does. cause im pulling about 12 or so hours with moderate use on bamf sense 3.0 rc4
New radio update is available now in the development thread, give that a shot. I was pulling about 16 hours before sense 3.0 and now I'm pulling 10 tops no matter what radio and kernel I use. Hopefully new radio will help a little but it is well known that gingerbread is a battery hog. I'd go back to froyo but sense 3.0 is just so damn sexy
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I'm pulling about 12 hours with mine with continuous IM usage, running MR2. I first installed MR 2.5 and it worked ok so I used it a while. Tried MR2 just for kicks, and OMG it was sooo much better for me, like a whole new phone almost.
Congratulations on the root! I'm right with you, I learned so much so fast, just by reading and learning what I could when I started rooting.
I'm currently running 1.6 clock with interactiveX governor. I like smart, this was just a test but its been stable and had much better battery life than stock for me.
Hang in there, you'll find the sweet spot. Also, I try not to use GPS when i don't need it, just to keep in mind when considering my specs.
Rooted Thunderbolt on BAMF
Sense 3.0 RC 4 with MR2 radio and latest dreamKernel.
Aha, so it appears I'm not the only one and seems like sense 3.0 might be the culprit.
I just flashed the mr2 ota update that was release a few hrs ago and it seems to be working a littl ebtter than mr2.5. Not significantly so but the phone doesn't overheat as quickly. As much as I like the new features of sense 3 i might have to go back to 2.1 if the battery gets owned so quickly.
Charles, you overclocking with dasbamf toolkit or using the terminal emulator?
Try disabling mobile data when you aren't using it. It's easy as pie with the quick settings and your battery will last forever. Just turn it on when you want to check email or use the net. It's the price we pay for the carousel
Would be a good idea but I use google voice for my texts and chat using liveprofile with most of my friends so wouldn't get any lives updates

[Q] ROM ICS 4.0.4 Battery Issue

Hi there,
So I just flashed this ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474878
It was last night, I hopped that battery issue drain by Cell stanby~Android System would be fix, but it didn't worked for me..
I flashed the ROM correctly, everything was OK. Wiped data/cache/dalvik and even formatted /system.
I don't understand why, my battery is really strange, sometimes I lose only 2 or 3% during many hours, other times I lose 20% per hour (with inactiv use).
I never had battery issue before ICS.
I got a Nexus S i9023, I hope some of you gonna be able to help me, I really want to fix that battery !
Best regards,
SpawN-
flash a rom that doesn't suck your battery! Or try some kernels that helps you to save battery
Yea sure, but this ROM was just here for the problem with battery, so it had to fix the problem, but didn't work for me, that's why I don't understand =/

sounds like it could be gremlins, or an app app wreaking havoc. also, apps that need to check for notifications drain battery quickly. i usually turn off all notifications(except gtalk/gmail).
I don't have any apps making annoying notifications, my Wifi and 3G are OFF and I often use Task Killer to kill useless processus.
I read that the porting of 4.0.4 for ns gsm was really smooth and battery save
This ROM wasn't even intended for your phone. All bets are off for stability...forget about battery life.
Seriously, though the behaviour you're seeing may not be the ROM. It could be programs keeping the phone awake during standby. To confirm, there's an app called Better Battery Stats on market (and in the Android Development and Hacking section on these forums) that may be able to help you figure things out.

Hello,
Have you tried to change your RADIO ?
try this kernel *Matr1x* with BLN and voodoo v16.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361477
I think it would be help.
For what i've seen the 4.0.4 version was just a leak so there could be some issue/bug. Maybe is better to stay with a custom Rom+kernel and wait for the update or for a custom kernel based on oficial realease 4.0.4 version.
cheers.
The only battery fix in 4.04 was the android os stats being logged incorrectly, i.e. too high.
That has been fixed in 4.04.
I don't think there ever was a cell standby/android system logging bug.
You may be mistaken.

[Q] Flashing, roms, radio, etc?

I Rooted my Phone some time ago, i have installed some roms, some run good, some freezes my phone up, have remove my battery.
so what I need more info on, is should i do like I read about the Radio?, Kernel?, and then ROM?
What I show,
Kernel Version
2.6.35.14-RCMIX3D-V12-CRD-gec898d5-dirty
Baseband Ver: ( Radio)
12.29.60.19U_26.06.04.06_M
ROM
RunnyDroid v3.0
I have StraightTALK Sims, all DATA, SMS all working,
My Battery dose not last so long, 3 to 4 hrs, mostly not in use.
I seen a lot of post talking about this rom, and that rom works the best. or the battery last for 7+ hours.
My phone is not running a lot of apps, I even uninstalled my Anti-Virus.
I have to keep my phone on the Charger a lot. I even bought a New battery and same thing.
Thanks
Have you tried recalibrating the battery? Also, how much "screen -on" time during your 3-4 hours use?
Sent from a payphone!
Sorry, just noticed you said mostly not in use.
There's a apps you can download from the market- Battery Recalibration and Current Widget...with these 2 tools and a little knowledge of what running app/services are doing, you can track what's going on.
Or, you could just simply have a bad battery or a gooned-up flash (it happens).
Hope this helps.

On the contrary, battery calibration has been proved to be nothing more then just a peace of mind type of procedure and really not a huge benefit. My advice would be to get Current Widget and fully charge your phone. Unplug it and let it sleep for about 6-8 hours with current widget logging the mA drain (the log is an option in the app itself, you just need to enable it). After the 6-8 hours ( I normally do this when I sleep so I know the phone is not in use) check the log and see if there is any weird mA drain. weird would look something like
1ma
3ma
180ma
230ma
1ma
2ma
Normal would be:
1ma
1ma
4ma
5ma
1ma
You get the picture hopefully haha. If you have weird drain then best bet would be to full wipe and reinstall the rom and individually install your apps one at a time and monitoring the mA usage to see what apps cause the drain and what doesn't. You can also try new radios with their matching RILs and see if that helps. There are also apps like Juice Defender and Green Power that have been said to improve battery life up to 2x. Hope that helps.
I have tested apps, done the ( Let the battery die, and then charge wait off to give a more of it charge.

let your phone die and then recharging it fully does nothing for abnormal battery drain. So in that regard the only thing you proved to yourself was that your phone can charge properly. Are you 100% sure you are running the proper radio for the ROM or have the matching RIL for your radio? I still think its an app running in the background that is causing your problem. Are you sure that you full wiped and reinstalled the rom. Then with each app you want, install one. wait for 30 minutes and allow current widget to log the mA activity. Check the log to be sure there are no crazy spikes in mA and proceed to the next app repeating the same process. I know its annoying but that's the only way to be sure that your apps aren't causing the drain.
Also consider turning off sync, which I've heard can be a battery drainer. Turn off wifi as well when need in range since the scanning for wifi causes battery drain as well.
I really don't know, when I first got the phone, I Rooted it and unlocked it.
I Do have straight talk Sim I have been using.
all I did was change the ROM( I Think).
with all the little problems I'm having, I was think I have a lot wrong with it!
So I was going to download a need ROM, I seen talk about Radios, or RIL, and ROMS.
so No I don't know If I have everthing right.
I wasl looking atRCMixHD 4G V3.4 ROM, and if I used it, what Radio and RIL would I need.
having Stright Talk Service, witch runs on ATT, with difference APN settings.
what Would I need?
Thanks. Terrell
Usually, the ROM has all the correct radios, RILs, kernels etc inside the ROM itself and you would only need to change if you had some need for a different radio, like if you got poor service where you live. Kernels are dictated by the ROM.

On a different note.
All I can say is wow. 2,000,000 Roms and I still not know LOL. Thanks for all the info so far.
When you install a custom ROM it will include ROM, a certain RIL, and the kernel that the DEV has used with the ROM all in one package. The DEV will USUALLY let you know what the recommended radio should be to match the included RIL. You could flash it before or after you flash the ROM.
If you are having battery issues I would first start with a new battery. If you have already done that then flash a simple ROM for testing purposes. Stay away from highly tweaked and modified ROMs with a kernel set up for overclocking. I recommend juicy ROM from my sig. Install the 2.52 (R2) version which is still sense 2.5 and gingerbread 2.3.3. The ROM is flawless and you will get the best battery life than from anyother ROM. SEE how your battery lasts with it.
If you have your brightness set high, have many apps running in the background, are in an area where your signal is poor and is constantly lost, are syncing many accounts constantly, and you can't seem to put your phone down, then your battery will not last that long.

Its bootlooping (not good) ...I would suggest to boot back into recovery and wipe and check your md5 sum & reflash or redownload file if needed.

bootlooping isn't the end of the world. It only becomes an issue if you can't boot into HBOOT. You can boot into HBOOT by turning off the device and then holding the volume up and power button at the same time. You will then boot into HBOOT. From here your device will scan for a "PD98IMG.zip". I'm guessing since you don't know how to get into HBOOT then you've probably haven't flashed a radio so you shouldn't have a stray PD98IMG.zip on your sdcard. After it scans and doesn't find a a PD98IMG.zip you will be given a few options. One of which will be to boot into recovery. Do that. From there you can check the md5 (if you're using EXT4 recovery). If you want you can re-download another ROM and from recovery you can mount your SDcard so you can put the new ROM on your sdcard and flash per usual.
