Is the Galaxy S 4G the same thing as the Infuse 4G? I see they both have similar specs but enough seems different for me that makes me question whether I should post here or on the Samsung Captivate threads. Thoughts?

Galaxy S 4G has different wireless bands than the Infuse 4G; it's more AT&T compatible than an unlocked Galaxy S 4G.
The processor is a hummingbird in both, but the Infuse runs at 1.2 rather than 1GHZ.
Infuse 4G has a better screen pixel-wise, and it's bigger by .5" i believe.
I wouldn't bet on it being much better if you're a T-Mobile customer, though if you're on AT&T it's currently the top phone to beat in speed, and Android performance.

The infuse also has an 8 megapixel camera as opposed to the 5 megapixel on this phone. I would skip it though as the galaxy s 2 will be here very very soon

I'm sure a lot of people on here are considering these two phones.
I'm currently using a Blackberry Bold that's quickly dying. I'm tired of having a limited number of apps, slow browser, etc. For the past year, I've been envying my roommate's Moto Droid (with 2.2). Since then, I've been hooked on Android.
The two phones I'm considering is the Nexus S and the G2. From what I've researched, both of these phones are pretty comparable. The G2's slideout keyboard is a plus, but not necessary.
I'm honestly not turned off by some of Nexus S's missing features (no SD expansion, etc.), and even the missing 4G (I'd like to try it though). Both are pure Android experiences, perfect for my first Android phone.
Any input is appreciated!
G2 because the keyboard and the chance to over clock up to 1.4GHz!!!
Even g2 doesnt have 4G [Not sure ] If it has and you want to use it then choice is pretty clear
Among those two, I belive nexus S should be better provided you are okay with 16GB and no qwerty.
T-Mobile have been a bit naughty and are calling the HSPA+ support (which the Nexus S doesn't seem to have) "4G". But of course it's not 4G at all, just like HSPA wasn't 4G either, EDGE wasn't 3G, etc, etc.
Nexus S, but if your willing to expand your choices Desire HD is nice, but you have to pay full price

Sprint's WiMAX and Verizon's LTE isn't technically 4G so T-Mobile has every right to deem their HSPA+ network 4G as well.
I think you should also consider the Mytouch4G. It is a slate form factor like the Nexus S, a front facing camera like the Nexus S, the "4G" speeds of the G2, and a MicroSD slot like the G2. Only downer here is the MyTouch4G doesn't use Stock Android and from my person experience the battery life isn't very good (I previously owned the G2 and it had better battery lfe)
All 3 devices have their Pros and Cons, I truly don't think you will go wrong with any of them but if I had to choice I would say the Nexus S. It may not have "4G" but it still has HSPA reaching a downlink of 7.2 which is higher than what MOST people normally see on the HSPA+ network (I normally see between 4 and 5mbps on the Mytouch4G, a speed that will also be attainable with the Nexus S)
G2
After you overclock it to 1.4ghz you'll notice that every other phone out there is a lot slower.
HSPA+ isn't exactly 4g but it. Can reach some insane speeds. Depends where you live.
It's easy to root and unroot
Keyboard is amazing, the hinge could be better but honestly it works fine.
Everyphone has it's pro's and cons do some searching and you'll see the g2 doesn't have many cons
Oh and PURE ANDROID!!!

whats G2 ?
The G2 anyday! even though it only has 800mhz & the Nexus has the new 1ghz processor. The g2's 800mhz processor can outperform any 1ghz processing phone out there. The physical keyboard & its the second generation snapdragon processor whereas nexus has a first generation hummingbird (I think theres a difference lol)
PLUS! the G2 has alot of development & what not. So its worth the money

Can the 1ghz CPU on the Nexus S (and other similar devices) be overclocked? (I'm actually not sure, asking)
G2 is only easy to unroot because when you reboot it, it unroots itself
Keyboard is nice, but not necessary. I thought I needed one which is why I bought a G1. Since using the Fascinate though I have gotten used to an onscreen keyboard and type just as fast.
Nexus S will have pure Android, pure Gingerbread!

You're only about a month late.
Ive had the infuse 4g for quite a while now I am very satisfied with it the scene is progessing at a steady pace but I've been interested in the gtx for quite a while my friends has been wanting my phone and I told him that if he got the g2x I would unlock both our phones and I would him mine for his what do you guys think of the
If you love edge do it hehe
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
If im not mistaken, the phones run on different bands and you wont get 3/4g. So like Rjan said, if you love Edge then by all means do the swap.
Are you guys sure about the edge thing and also spec wise which is better

Absolutely. If you unlock both phones and swap, neither of you will get more than EDGE data speeds. Good luck with that.
The LG G2x is garbage, by the way. I know from experience.
ok im going to take your guys word for it because i am sure ou all have much more experience with this than I thank you all i guess here is where i say infuse for life lol
sometimes t-mo phones work on att but not the other way around. you have to check the bands for each and the bands that carriers use. t-mo uses some unique bands. sometimes you can use a canadiain modem.bin to get something wirking on att. sometimes the antennas are tuned and you cant force the radio into an att band.
so although you will have talk and edge, it is hard to say you would be able to use 3g and hspa/+ even after mods to the phone.
as far as what specs better, well the g2x has been known to have color bleed issues on the screen. if the screen is important to you the infuse specs better in that area by far. the g2x specs better in the processor and has 1080p video capture. infuse has support for more codecs.
other than that you just have to see the real word performance. the infuse has great audio hardware. but there is no ability to change recoding level presets(waiting for voodoo sound to be released for the infuse). i have no idea what audio is like on the lg. also im not sure about lg but samsungs usually take great photo's in low light conditions.
So the Infuse will not receive 3g on T-mo's network? Or was it just the LG that would suffer?

i do not believe the infuse will have 3g/4g on t-mo. i am uncertain about the g2x because i have heard that the vibrant works on att.
This has been answered. You cannot connect USB on Sata port and sata port to usb.
Att and T-Mobile have different frequency band on 3g.

i have the option for either but idk which is better i will be using it with tmobile whichever phone i get but arent they almost exactly the same but the only difference is LTE and the headphone jack right?
that is correct. skyrocket has a better display, and LTE, but aside from that they're the same
How is the SR display better? i had the T989 before the i727 and i can say build quality on the T989 is better although the i727 is sexier and LTE is a huge improvement. Battery life also seems better for some reason on the i727
Display is HD, 720p

Not the regular skyrocket. It's 480 x 800
As far as I knew the phones are almost identical. I see people getting the Skyrocket, SIM unlocking it and using it for T Mo, but I haven't seen people getting the T989 and using it on Att. I would say get the Skyrocket and if you have the ability to use LTE, at least you'll already have it. At least if you get the Skyrocket, TMobile and Att customers could use it in case you're looking to resell it in the future.
Thanks
I decided to get the Skyrocket!
time to change the signature from samsung galaxy s 4g to Skyrocket! lol any particular rom favorites ? wifi working (almost essential) lol
I live in a rural West TN area but AT&T has put up a 3G tower near my home so I left the herd (iphone) and got me a skyrocket but now my skyrocket has slower speed test results than my wife's Iphone 4. I was wondering if anyone else has found this in there skyrocket?
thanks for reading the NOOBs post
I'm in Rogers but I have bad connection speed in my room, was only get 1 bar LTE and it was killing my battery I was using the kj2 radio by changed to the UCLA3 and my speed has increased by several mbps, as well as signal strength. Flash ucla3 through cwm and see how that works for u
I will try and let you know

Although I AM a iphone hater , the iphone has always had the best reception compared to all the phones put together on AT&T's network. The reasons for this are obvious..........may not have the best tech features, but it still remains the best BUILT phone as far as hardware is concerned !!
So your wife will always be happier than you when she look at her signal strength !!!
EDIT: Furthermore, the Skyrocket was a hastily put together device to leverage the "new" 4G LTE network that AT&T was desperate to sell. So, this phone came out within months of the plain Galaxy S II, which is thus a better phone in build quality than the Skyrocket.

This, is wrong. The chipset is based off one of the best radios qualcomm has ever produced, and is one of, if not the only pentaband radio with LTE (multi band lte support I might add). You can use the phone with any gsm carrier world wide. As for reception, if you don't have 4g in ur area, use the t989 telus radio, it has much better 3g signal support in my opinion. As for build quality, well its pretty much identical to the s2 exterior wise, so... :-D
I am an ex iPhone user and can say that in my area, the skyrocket blows the iPhone away. This is in signal, call quality and data speeds. Hands down, the Skyrocket is far superior to the overblown iDevices. These statements are from comparing the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and the Skyrocket. Not to mention iPhones have yet to go above 512 RAM and cannot utilize LTE. They are skating on hype and brand recognition, not superior hardware.

Samsung makes the iphone chips, yes?
yes but that doesn't mean their the same SOC. They possess an entirely different gpu, much more capavle than ours. That's y ios is so "smooth," all the 3d and graphic rendering is offloaded to gpu, unlike android, aka "android lag."

Cool, just making sure I had that right.
Greetings!
My mom's Nokia died and I want to get her a quick replacement. She is not techie but she got used to touch screen...so I was thinking that even though the HTC is older tech (at least from my research), at the used prices I have seen, the bigger display and better camera, would be a better choice for my mom than the faster Samsung Blaze with the 3.97" display.
At most she will be using it for some pics (which will stay in the phone for the most part as she has no computer) and receiving messages with photos that I send from my end for example...which is also why I feel the bigger screen is a better idea.
Anything I should know about it before making a decision?
Any other choices you want to recommend are also welcome.
Regards!
