Anyone know if I could use two sims simultaneously? I'm thinking of buying this phone to put a data sim and a pay as you go voice sim in.
No

Yes you can have two SIM cards simultaneously.
What you will need to do is:
Insert the Pay as you go SIM card into the SIM slot and the Data SIM card into the microSD card slot. To be able to do this will need to get a special code from T-Mobile called the SD-SIM unlock code.
Very important to use the Data SIM card into the microSD slot since this will give you better speeds than if you insert it into the regular SIM slot.

LOL. That was hilarious. The moment I read data SIM in the sd slot I started laughing
I've always wondered about all those dual sim adapters you see on Ebay. This One, for example claims to "Auto Switch" to allow incomming messages and calls from both cards at once, and manual switching for outgoing. for $7, might be worth a shot. Only downside is having to cut up your sims, but there are others out there that don't require this.

Hi,
AFAIK you should be able to copy your SIM contacts to your phone, and after inserting the new SIM copy them back to your card. Mind you, most SIMs have also a lot of operator-related data, and you should be very careful when copying data back and fro...

hya, I bought a xoom via ebay a few months ago. it came from usa. now i don't know if it's only wifi or supports data connection... can you explain me to understand what do i own?
than: I know it's american, but... is there a way to make a gsm card work on my device?
thanks a lot!
If it says Verizon, it's the CDMA version, if it just says Motorola, it's the WiFi version.
it says motorola, s it should be wifi... is it normal it has the simcard slot?

The slot you see is where a sim card would go if you had the internal hardware for a sim card connection. Also that slot is where your micro sdcard is mounted (if you have one).
Okay but...
Okay, I'm kind of curious about the same thing. My WiFi Xoom has an area for a SIM card and a Micro SD card. However, it's a WiFi Xoom because I bought it as that and it says that on the box, but what's with the SIM card?
I understand there may not be the hardware (Modem) for a 3G data connection, but how can I install one or somehow put one?
Thanks!

You don't have a SIM. As far as adding it I don't think someone has added a modem yet but you can search Google.

Yep, on a Wifi device, the sim card slot is a convenient location to store a spare sim card
i've cut a normal sim card (old M32) which was always working into a micro sim unsing the template floating around the internet.
inserted to the phone, it detects the carrier but it just cant register to the network. emergency calls only.
anyone know whats wrong? or just that these old sim cards are not compatible on phones that takes micro sim?
i've attached a screenshot, cut vs original micro sim.
micro sim
just get a original micro sim, that one that you cut will not work, the cut was not perfect, you have to be super cautious to use that device you use to cut it
Try and unlock your phone
Use this app link.......http://www.unlockroot.com/....
This app will not only unlock your phone but will also
Root it.....
Hope ive helped

I am about to get the phone once it is processed. I am using an old galaxy s 4g with a regular sim card. I also have a 2 year old unused micro sim card. I wanted to know if it's best cutting the regular card to a micro sim card or activate the old unused micro sim card. Or do I have to get a newer micro sim card from t-mobile. If I do either the first two methods, will I still have lte even though they are not the newer sim cards? I have read that even if you activated the newer sim cards at a tmobile store that people didn't still get 4g(Lte) but instead got the H/H+. Others are saying that the phone or the account needs to be provisioned. I am under as an added line under my mothers account which is only a few months old if that matters. Thanks in advance.
T-Mobile doesn't need any provision. If I was you, I would personally just get a new Micro SIM, you ensure that you have the newest and latest SIM card which will ensure that you'll have the best possible experience in LTE data and cellular signal.
Call them up and they'll give you a free SIM replacement in the mail, or you can go to the store. Very easy to do.
If you did cut your sim card into a micro sim, you wouldn't get LTE with that old of a SIM card. Enjoy your phone.
To get LTE you will need an LTE enable/capable SIM card, so get a new one from Tmobile
Does the dual sim slot also work as a micro sd card slot? I know some dual sim phones have added this support to the second sim slot where the phone itself didn't have a dedicated micro sd slot.

No, it doesn't. And the tmo variant is the same after converting to EU firmware. Second sim slot included.

I know, but the sim card trey doesn't look like it holds 2 sims. That's why I was asking. I'm going to convert but was hoping I could use a sim card if I were to get a replacement tray.

Yes, the 7t pro sim tray works but isnt flush. You could also try the 8 sim tray. The second slot will work but the device is dual standby so if your making a call from one you cant use data or anything with the other at the same time. You also only have one imei which is assigned to both slots.

just came across your post looking for something else. i have the KB2005 and the sim tray is dual but it looks like a single one, when i looked closer one sim goes on top, one sim goes on bottom.
