I use the built in one.

I use logmein because it has a web client that I can use, but it's also the easiest to setup and maintain. In two years, I might have asked someone at the office to reboot my system maybe three times and I can't even fault logmein for those time as the computer might have just crashed on its own!
The only problem i'm having with it, is that it doesn't register mouse movements from my external mouse - all other remote apps that I use can utilize the external mouse. I've been in contact with thelogmein tech support staff to see if we can resolve this.

I use VPNC for ipsec vpn connection. You can find a compiled tun kernel module in the Development forum.

Isn't logmein just a remote desktop application and not a VPN connection?

Thanks guys.
I will try the recommended software to see which one works best.

How to use the computer keyboard on the HD2?

Is there anyway to redirect computer keyboard input from the computer to the HD2? This would be useful to type texts in the device using my computer keyboard.
I don't want something like My Mobiler since I don't want to see the whole screen but only to redirect input.
After all, I just want to use my keyboard like a bluetooth keyboard, but using and activesync usb connection...

Thanks, but that applications does not seem to let me type an SMS using my computer keyboard (at least from the description)...
It does.
Try it, and uninstall it if I am lying. I've updated the link to the developer's website.

I know that, but I don't want full control over the device, just being able to text...
If you're already connected to wifi, why would you need your computer to update weather info?
I have WiFi Remote Access installed on my HTC HD2. How exactly does it allow the use of a PC keyboard to be used through it on my HD2? I've looked and looked and see no setting for using a PC keyboard.
Bump......
Try some remote contrl app so you can use any function of your phone on your computer...
But I'm not sure whether there is any working with wireless connection.

Too bad I cannot make this work because of my wireless network settings. I have a very secured access using MAC filters so that is probably why. The 1.7 is only a trial version right? It says on the website it has a timebombthat will go off sometime in June. Besides this app, any other app that can do the same thing? Thanks.

No, 1.7 Beta 2 is timebombed (it has more features). R1 is stable and works like a charm.
Visit here for the detail.
Why the need for such secure MAC filters? Do you work for the NSC or something? Why not relax your settings, give it a try... if you don't like Wifi Remote Access' features, then ditch it and secure your router like Fort Knox again.
dude just try pocket controller, its great i use it to see my device on my screen and controll it fully, it even lets me skin the session with the right device skin..

How did you know who I worked for??? Lol. My router is weird, I cannot connect to my network if I disable MAC filtering, which is really annoying since I have to add every single device that I want to connect. It took me a while to get that router figured out and I don't want to lose my connection so maybe I will try this app at work.
Okay, have 1.7 installed and still don't see the keyboard options.
Eh...it's on the desktop application under Remote Controls. It requires an access code, which would cause the program to likely be disabled after a period of time. I'll stick with the basic app.

[Q] Shutdown computer via ip address

Is there an app that can shutdown a windows computer just using its ip address without the need for installing a client on the computer.

run > shutdown -i
Works with hostname. I haven't tried with IP addresses, but i think that works too.
You'd have to create some kind of server... you have to have something that will accept connections on the server end. Whatever it may be, including SSH, etc.
http://tweetmypc.codeplex.com/
Could do what you want and more but you won't be able to turn off a computer without a way (service or server) that allows it
smb
there'sis somethinglike that ... but it checks for a security hole in "windows vista and 7 ONLY" no XP""" Vista and 7,... ok you can connect to the same network and input the IP and NUKe it.."test for the security hole, if the machine has it, it will shut down.. now aday.. 5 out of 10 machines has that hole open.. so its 50 50 chance but still good to test!
ITS CALLED "SMB CHECK"
That's frightening. If your computers have this vulnerability, they should be patched... not exploited
But anyway... something that actually executes against the credentials of your system is definitely the way to go.
Been playing with ssh so I just connect to a pc from phone and issue command to that an shut any computer on network down. Shame there isn't an app that can do out in a few clicks.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Cool man. I can't imagine it'd be too hard to write one, especially if it's just triggering a bash script with a specified argument (of the host name).
Out of curiosity, are you connecting via VPN? If so, what are you using?
I'm excited for the release of the Cisco Cius and their AnyConnect client, which will hopefully be ripped (or released).
Not using vpn am connected to nw via wireless.
If a talented dev would take up the challenge and code an app for this it would be great, if only I could code

RDP Terminal service client, with FULL trackpad and external mouse support

Last version of remote RDP https://market.android.com/details?id=app-org.toremote.serversmanager added full mouse over and left/click functions.

I'm waiting for Splashtop to add right click support, Windows RDP is way too slow to do anything over the net.
Awesome! I've been using 2x which has also been very satisfactory for a free app.
RDP has really turned my TF into a viable work from home solution. The only thing I'm still struggling with is Cisco VPN - but I hear the android anyconnect client is in Beta and not far off public release.
OOoohhh!! I'm gonna try this out tomorrow at my clients. Been using LogMeIn when I'm remote and Wyse Pocket Cloud when I'm at the clients but they both need to be used with the finger on the touch screen.

Yes, I know.
The app supposidly supports a physical right button though. So far it would appear that in fact it doesn't.
I emailed the dev and he said that he tried a bluetooth mouse. So he got that to work I think? But he didnt try the transformer. So I sent him a log and I hope he can find it.
Im happy to say that he emailed me back and fixed it. The update was pushed a few minutes ago, just tried. Right click support ftw. This thing is awesome. ^_^
Awesome, downloading.
Updated and tested. Works perfectly now.
This is without a shadow of doubt, the best RDP client there is.

That's what I'm using too. I've actually set 2 profiles for my home server, one for when I'm on another network that is optimised for performance, and another for when I'm home optimised for appearance.
WOW!!! This Dev is awesome. RDP client is exactly as it should be. Has anyone gotten the VNC Client to work made by this Dev? I keep getting "Cant create handler inside thread that has not called looper.prepared()". Also getting FCs every so often. Have not successfully connected to VNC Server that are tested to work fine with WYSE Pocket cloud.
This guys got skills... Getting the trackpad and right click to work fixed all the "not quite netbook but close" arguements. This is now the full Tablet/Netbook hybrid to kill off the rest. Still looking to get VNC client working.
how do i use my TF that is connected to the internet by bluetooth tethering to connect remotely with this?
or through iphone personal hotspot?
can anyone advice?
thanks.

[Q] How to share Tor or other anti-filtering apps on your PC through Ad-Hoc network

Hi you guys.
I have recently bought my Asus Transformer and I have a question.
I live in a country where internet is highly filtered and the access to Facebook, Youtube and many websites are restricted. I have bypassed the filtering by installing Tor on my PC and it’s working fine.
However, I wonder, is there any way to connect my Asus Transformer to my PC through ad-hoc to use Tor (or perhaps any other anti-filtering tools) and connect to those restricted websites? I guess it has something to do with Proxy settings but I really have no idea about how to get it done. It would really mean a lot to me and many others if someone can help me with this.
You can try orbit, it's a Tor-browser for android.
I think it allows you to select apps that will use the tor-tunnel. I'm guessing you just select the facebook-app, and use it like you normally would.

Actually, it's orbot not orbit I used it on my phone, it was ok. I don't know if it's working on honeycomb, try it.
You are absolutely right aibo. My bad

I have the same problem. I use the MyCloud splashtop app too. When I go into settings and internet discovery, I enter my credentials and click sign in but nothing happens. If I can't get this fixed soon I will have to figure a way to go back to 4.1.
I have the same problem, I think it's a bug in the app (also it's a pretty old version). I ended up buying SlashtopHD, it's optimized for tablets, works great with the keyboard dock and is on sale for $8. Discovery works great, even over 3G.:good:

[Problem Description]
Since the 4.2.1 update. The Splashtop (MyDesktop) under MyCloud has not been
working completely. It works well through local networks, but, under settings and
internet discovery, when I enter my google credentials and click sign in, nothing
happens. It will not attempt to sign in. There are no errors saying my credentials are
invalid. It just sits there. Then when I back out of the menu and come back the
password is missing again. I have the original splashtop app on my phone and
installed it on the tablet and it functions fine through internet discovery although not
nearly as tablet friendly as the stock version through MyCloud.
This feature is a main function for productivity with the tablet and if necessary I would
rather go back to 4.1 to retain this capability.

Doh! I didn't realize there was a THD version. Just bought it and will kick the tires. Here are the results so far.
With my tf700 tethered to my EVO 4G I'm able to internet discover and connect to my work PC.
I'm unable to internet discover my home Mac. Think that might be an issue with my firewall. I'll look into it when I get home this evening.
Update: I think the issue was because my firewall is configured to do port forwarding to my Mac. You have to allow SplashtopTHD to discover the Mac while connected to your local network. Once it's found it the first time on the local network, internet discovery works after that.
So are we out of luck until Asus updates unless we buy Splashtop? Is there another way to locate your computer when you're off your own network? What version of Splashtop is bundled in MyCloud?

Afraid so. The version Asus bundled was customized and renamed it MyDesktop v1.1.0.14. Near as I can tell from Splashtop's support site this was a known bug in v1.1.0.14. :/
FWIW This was the last version that Splashtop released before they updated the app from Splashtop 1 to Splashtop 2. Until Asus uses the Splashtop 2 version remote access outside of your LAN wont be possible.

Actually, it's still possible - just not as easily. All that you need to do is setup Port Forwarding on your router. It's actually pretty simple.
Let me know if anyone is interested in setting this up - I'm sure I can find some good links and help a little...

The splashtop app has updated 3 times in the past week or so and still it doesn't work
Man you guys must either be young and have good eyes or porting the video out HDMI to a big screen TV or external monitor. I tried Splashtop a few times and it worked great but I couldn't see a thing on my desktop screen (high res, lots of icons) and discovered I could zoom and pan (desktop or launched app) the virtual desktop but it felt clumsy and dangerous since I often lost my mouse cursor. In app it felt dangerous like I could easily delete something. Functionally though it was an impressive remote desktop over wifi. Tried it over 3G and the latency was unbarable (and they state it will not work this way but I tried anyway just to check it out - they were right.)
I went out and checked yesterday and got an available update from ASUS that fixed this problem.
