Exactly what I was wondering. The only thing holding me back from the SGS2 was the thought of not having the Tegra. And what are the possibilities of a CM7 or AOSP ROM?
Thanks for all the replies so far.

Ok, but do we know anything about stock AOSP ROMs? I wanna get as close to stock asap whe ni get this. Considering how fast it is with the TW bloatware, should be a speed demon on stock 2.3.4

AOSP ROMS are very fast and works well but are soo simple.
for example i don´t like AOSP because i´m HTC SENSE LOVER..
in adition SGS 2 is going to run ANDROID OPEN SOURCE PROJECTS without problems
cyanogenmod7 is a current rom and has (under my experience the better performance.. available in SGS)in a few time when SGS2 outs... it´s going to be available CM7.X.X for this super-machine

AFAIK, TW4 can't be used on P1000 because of the hardware specs.
That's what Samsung said and abandoned our lovely P1000.

Utter tripe. Thats what they said about ICS aswell but it runs brilliantly.
I'm one of those strange people that like tw too, And I'd love to have this. But I don't like our chances. I don't think that it's necessarily because it would be too much for our Tab to run. I've played with an early version of S2 ics rom on my gs and it was ok. But the reality I think is that most of the developers who could do this are more interested in pure ics/jb or cm. And that's fine (I'm not complaining or anything). But my thought is that most wouldn't have any personal interest in porting tw to our Tab. And while it may work, it may not be as smooth as JB could be and then they'd have to put up with all the lagging/redrawing/sluggish comments.
I've seen that there is a version of tw ported to work on ics roms, I'm assuming that it's just the phone ui. Have half thought of giving it a go, but now jb is out it's time to move on again.
I would like to port personally Galaxy Tab 2 Touchwiz launcher to our P1000, like that 13-year old boy that ported Galaxy S3 launcher to AOSP ICS, but I don't know how to do. Could anyone help me or give me a link to some guide, please?
@Sir Otto yes yes please do. i will support you the way i can

If you're into custom roms I'd try to get a used GNex. It's still a good phone with an awesome community and good for another 1-2 years. Imho the community is much more important than the specs nowadays. The OMAP4460 is far away from beeing top notch but if games are not your main concern its performance is adequate. All the features you need in a package much more beautiful and handsome than the Nex 4 (The Gnex does not have inductive charging but it's easy to DIY).
If the Rom is not important or Hardware is the most important thing the 4x HD might be the best choice (but don't bet on getting JB no matter what LG is telling you ).
mmmm im really undecided ....
O4X HD has Roms too, just not as many. And its in black or white

4x hd is made by lg meaning lack of sources and it also gets late updates.
Gnex has the best rom support, but is getting outdated
and imo the xperia ion is the best choice.
its new, got nice specs, and very open source with nice prompt updates
Let get Xperia Ion or Xperia Z the same

If you intend to play around with your device a lot (Kernels, Roms, Mods), I'd say the Nexus. If you're not planning to do so, id lean more towards the Ion due to the more reliable company to this day im still iffy about LG

Galaxy 7.7 or Nexus 7?

Hello everyone,
I have been considering getting a Galaxy Tab 7.7 to replace my Nexus 7. I have found the Nexus screen to be not very good, with colors and black levels. I also would like to have mobile data (i know there is the hspa nexus) I can get an i815 for about 270-300. Do you think I should sell the nexus and buy one? Or if you can post a comparison by experience that would be great.
Thanks,
The Doolster

I also was thinking about which is better, and for my own opinion Tab 7.7 is better(cause I really like screen and materials) but there are no updates in firmware from sams, only 2 developers on this forum(( => even my old i9000 works faster on MIUI ROM:angel:
P.S sorry for my english
Judging by the performance tests, the Galaxy Tab is superior in tests nexus 7. I can provide screenshots quadrant test if needed.

Sure, if you could perform one normal speed and overclocked That would be great. But if you can't over clock it that's fine.

Great, thanks! Looks like I will be getting one soon. I am not sure when exactly I will get it. But you may see me here soon.

Im surprised there is'nt ALOT more Custom Roms for the Tab 3 T211

Im honestly surprised there is'nt more Custom Roms available for the Galaxy Tab 3 T211, for instance, Roms like Miui, C.M 10.2, AOKP, PACMAN, or even a Touch Wiz 4.3 Updated jump Off to run flawlessly on the Tab 3 T211. Im like really Baffled over here wondering whats going on, this is a great lil device , however this stock 4.1.2 SUCKs. Please, we need a great developer to cook up something RAW for us to Flash. Thanks for listening....

I honestly hope your Right Buddy, cause from what i see in the forum theres only literally only 2 Custom Roms, Dont get me wrong i TRULY appreciate ALL Devs in this Forum and XDA as a whole, But i definitely dont know how to even start cooking up a Custom Rom, however if ANY devs would need any help with anything simple i always available and willing to assist. Now could it be there isnt many Roms for the T211 cause its fairly new, about how old it is already 6 months old..?? Cause thats a bit of time already. well i hope your right buddy, cant wait to have at least 1 sick rom with UNRESTRICTED TETHERING... I WISH ALL THE BEST TO ALL Devs and everyone as a whole in XDA..

We are here to help one another- Let us work hand in hand in helping to get this device to work as great as possible. Honestly speaking this device may be lagging at times....but this can be resolved by Kernel revamp plus tweaks like :
- Scorpion Bionic Optimisation
- Neon script
My setup to be honest :
Stock ROM..Rooted
Crossbeeder Tweak
So far have not removed any bloatware yet and with the above setup my Antutu (full test) score is on my SM-T211
It'll be worth the wait. My phone is a Motorola Atrix HD. It was released August 2012 and didn't get any real development until the bootloader was unlocked in April of 2013. Since then it has most all of the major ROM's on 4.4.2. Everyone kept saying the same thing about this time last year. Just stick it out.

Totally Understand your dilemma..
Hey B, the deference with the the Galaxy Tab is there no BootLoader holding back the development. i honestly think no big development is acquiring because of the hardware, its not much to brag about, its only a Dual core, i think thats the problem, and with this stock System its really laggy, well for me it is, cause i have the note 2 as well. Anyway i will be here patiently waiting cause in really loving this device, once it get some steroids then ill love it even more. Thanksss.

So to make sure that I understand what you are saying... I could, instead of having a Wi-Fi Hot Spot from Sprint, have a Tab 3 from Sprint with a data plan, install this, and then be able to use this tablet as a Hot Spot? I currently use my Note 3 (that has unlimited data) but there are times I'd rather have the Hot Spot (or this tablet) as how I connect my laptop to the internet (Like when 4G isn't available and using the Note on 3G basically disables the ability to do phone and data simultaneously).
I don't use the Hot Spot very much so I could probably do this with a limited data plan on the tablet and get away with it.
Anyway. Too long of a post to simply ask if this allows tethering of a Laptop to the Tab 3 for the laptop to use the Tab 3's data plan.
Thanks!

Well 4.4 Kitkat is coming soon from Samsung. Most people like Touchwiz and you can't get a lot working beyond 4.2.2 in any ROM until Samsung drops a new version and the libs can be updated. Not much to do until 4.4 comes that hasn't already been done. Root, then a few tweaks and the tab really hums. When you branch off into cell providers tab versions it gets even harder because you need new /different kernels, modems and firmware specifically for them. In other words there just isn't that much demand for custom ROMs and it takes a lot of effort.
Its funny you say that D.
There isn't even 4.2.2 Build out for the Galaxy Tab 3 T211.. The Tab 3 T311 came with 4.2.2 out the BOX, so it has nothing to do with waiting, cause 4.2.2 is there, however your right when you say there isn't any Devs willing to put in there quality time to cook anything up for the T211, I dont know why cause this Device is a nice lil jump off, so i just made the decision to sell it and cop the Tab 3 8'' T311. Much better device, barely any lag and it came running 4.2.2 out the box, Plus it comes with 16gigs of internal storage, and it just costed me ONLY an extra $10 after selling the T211 for $350, i came off like a fat rat.. lol... So I have my Note 3 Tweaked out, running Jovy23 Darthstalker V6 Custom Rom, Tethering my Tab 3 T311 FLAWLESSLY... Im Loving It..!! :0

Stop hoping.. WHen Tab3s get the official 4.4 is when you will see a working 4.4 . You can't port things without a proper kernel , libs, blobs, and framework to build on. Libs and blobs are not all open source and its tricky to build a kernel without a vendor base. Samsung should be pushing out some 4.4 in April / May

Cell carrier versions always lag behind because they require the cell carrier to add in their bits , kernel, radio, modem, etc.
Hey T.F
I Agree, i would LOVE a T.W 4.4.2 KitKat myself. Im running CM11 (Big Up to CM) and its running GREAT, FLAWLESSLY on my T311, however I Know TW 4.4.2 KitKat will be ported at some point to our 8" Tab 3, look at the bright side though, at-least we have a few options and are not stuck on 4.1.2 like the T211....

Well after reading all comments ... its mean this device is not so good ? Complaints about lags or no custom rom?
Even on stock rom you can improve performance with tweaks like edit your build.prop and add some tweak or add tweak in init.d folder like fly-on mod...
For me I use stock rom 4.1.2 with some tweaks on build.prop
I can play games like asphalt 8 or gta san andreas or play psp game almost smooth with no lag except some game on psp emulator of course I cant compare with my nvidia shield... but for me this galaxy tab 3 7.0 is good enough

Android 10 Go for my Tab 2 digital picture frame?

Is Android 10 Go possible? Or maximum 7.1.2?
I don't mind slowness until it is unusable. Galaxy S2 did it even without Android Go, why Tab 2 can't?
Also how to make custom rom myself?

yeah, it's sad that the predecessor got oreo and GT2 haven't. Oreo go edition would have been the best rom for this tablet and any aging tablet for that matter as it is modern and is easy on hardware with 1GB RAM and underperforming processors.
