[q] asus eee pad hdmi problem - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ASUS EEE PAD TRANSFORMER 00423
Problem: When i plug in the HDMI type C cord to the transformer it works great. When I go to play videos such as Youtube or Any video type via HDMI to tv it flickers constantly. Sometimes it will work and sometimes it will completley disable my devices screen and TV and I will have to hard reset. I was wondering if anyone else ran into a similiar problem and if it could be the HDMI cord ? Thanks

+1 on this. Not sure what kind of cord I have, but mine flickers too

I havent tried mine yet

Have you guys made any progresson this? I just got my cable and i am having the same issue.
I am currentlyon 3.1

No .... Nothing Yet ... I just ordered another cable to see if that is the problem .. Should be here tommorow

Make sure you use mini HDMI 1.3a cable.
Mine works perfectly with youtube, UPnPlay and moboplayer

I had some issues with my TF and my Sony Bravia HDMI connection and the problems were cleared up by performing a firmware update for the television itself. I have no idea if that would help your situation, but in my case a firmware update cleared up all the connection problems I was having.
Good luck,
DM

[Q] HDMI Out Problem {resolved}

Dang, another problem with my Transformer (or with the cable.)
I bought the bundle off of TigerDirect with the Transformer, Mini HDMI cable and case.
I finally got around to opening up the cable and I connected it to my HDTV. Nothing happens.
I did some Googling and it said make sure the cable is fully inserted (yep) and that a HDMI notification should appear on the device. (nope)
Anybody else buy this bundle and try to connect to their HDTV? I'm trying to figure out if it's the cable or the device.
I tried rebooting it as the old standby fix, but still no-go.
Thanks!
Went and tried on my friend's HDTV and it worked like a charm.
Not sure what it is about my Panasonic plasma 1080p monster, but it doesn't work on it at all.
And I know the port is good, it's where I hook up my PS3.
Not too concerned because I won't use that feature too much, but I was thinking of how some hotels now offer HDMI in, so that's awesome the next time I need to travel for work.
Load up some music, some TV shows, a couple games, AND I can even do some work. (Yeah, right!)
I tried mine yesterday on our Samsung and it worked well, I was pleasantly surprised how simple it was to use.
Yeah, me too! (After I put it on a different tv.)
I was also surprised how good it looked for mirroring the display after some people said it didn't look great. Surfed, read some e-mail, even started up the Samurai game and everything looked excellent.
Looking forward to the 3.1 update which supposedly will support 1080p!

Mine won`t work with my Panasonic plasma, works fine with my no name LCD TV
Mine worked great on 3 different projectors
Hdmi problem
I couldn't get my TF to work on my Sony Bravia TV. I loaded Clemsyn's kernel (v17) and it now works fine.
clemsyms kernal works for me using 50"panasonic plasma
I don't see how one rom works better than stock on hdmi unless something specific has been added or changed in reference to it. Is that what you are saying?
I do know pluging in the mini hdmi connector into the TF firmly was the difference between it working or not working on my sammy. BTW it looks great and surfing the internet on my TV has taken on a lot greater meaning since. Lots better than my lame PS3's browser
I had the same problem hooking up to my dad's tv, not completely sure of the brand of it. Samsung or Sharp.
Anyway, it would not work on any of the 3 hdmi inputs that were not being used up, so I tried plugging it into the input where his dtv recorder box was connected, and it worked.
Not sure if the tv had a setting in the setup menu's that would have made it work but I couldn't find anything that would have made it work on the other hdmi inputs. I had 3 different cables with me that I tried so that wasn't part of the problem.
I also remember the tablet was saying it was connected to hdmi but there was no video or audio on the tv on the other 3 inputs. Very strange. Works great on my LG I woulda been on one of the 3.1 unrooted asus updates at the time.
that's my experience with hdmi not working, hopefully it helps someone, someday
where is the solution?????
A solution has already been given above. The clemsyn kernel has a fix. Other than that you'd have to wait for a fix from ASUS
Sent from my mopho
but if i install clemsyn kernel i lost all my data, the kernel reset all the tablet?
thanks
????? some help?
You wont lose any of your data. Just flash it via CWM Recovery without wiping/formatting.

[Q] Cannot get HDMI out?

Hello all. I've been trying to use the HMDI out on my Transformer, but with no luck. I've tried plugging an HDMI-HDMI mini cable into my HDMI TV, and also using an HDMI-HDMI Mini adaptor on an existing standard HDMI cable, but nothing seems to happen. I get no signal from the HDMI ports on the TV, and I don't get the "HDMI" icon on the transformer toolbar.
This was the cable I tried:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001NXK86Y/ref=oss_product
...and this was the adaptor:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000UJKOW0/ref=oss_product
Does this require some kind of "special" HDMI cable? If so, what should I be looking for?
Thanks for any help chaps!

You don't have a Panasonic TV do you? I remember seeing that there's some problem using those sets..
Ah Yes I do, a Panasonic TX32G10B. It hadn't occured to me that the TV itself might be the problem! I'm seeing various posts on the net about this now, but none that appear to have a fix. Any ideas if anything can be done about this incompatiblity?
I have a Panasonic Viera and have spent an evening with it changing every setting i could find but with no luck at all. I restarted, reconnected about a million times in every combination of sequences there are and some more besides.
Could not get the TV to hook up to the TF.
I bought my HDMI cable at Maplin.
Like yourself if anyone has any suggestions then I'm all ears!

You can try contacting Panasonic to see if there is a software upgrade for the TV which may address the issue.
Done that- i have latest firmware already - the tv has a software update function built in.
I just tried my transformer & HDMI cable on a different TV, and it's worked sucessfully, so I guess it's a compatibility problem between the Transformer and my Panasonic TV. There doesn't appear to be a software update function on my model of TV, so I hope it eventually get addressed on the transformer end!
I've heard others say to try the other HDMI ports on the back of the TV etc also. I know for a fact that all cables dont work either, I had a belkin cable that never worked tried with a phillips cable from sears and boom it worked! weird.
use a 1.4 mini-hdmi to hdmi cable (174cm-5.60$)on my dynex flat tv (720p)
image and sound work without problem out of the box..
link to the cable :

I bought a cheap HDMI to mini HDMI adaptor off ebay. It did not work with my Panasonic TH-P50VT20A (50" 3D Aussie model) I tried plugging it in my reciever and then also 2 other Panasonic plasmas, and a Samsung Plasma. I also tried various cables. I then went and puchased a new adaptor from Jaycar electronics and it works fine. There is a bit of overscan but am pretty sure that is because of a setting on the TV. Some will work others don't but my new Panny Plasma did work with the right adaptor.

Connecting Infinity to HDTV...

I recently received an HDMI to Micro-HDMI cord, and was excited to test it on my 37" Panasonic.
I have tried every combination of turning on and off the TV/Tablet first etc...and it STILL will not show up on my TV. It's acting like there is nothing connected at all. No prompts.
So...what am I doing wrong? The cord I bought was 3 bucks on Amazon, so it may be a knock off or something. Buy a new cord? Any help is appreciated. Half the reason I bought this thing was to watch movies on my hdtv.

I would try to find another TV to test with... Maybe a display model in a retail store if you don't know anyone with a TV that you can test with?

My micro HDMI cord only worked on my LG when I first selected the input on my TV and then unplugged and plugged the HDMI cord back into the Infinity. Also make sure the cord is plugged ALL the way in.
When I played NetFlix on the tablet, the TV would display the video and sound, but the closed captioning stayed on the device.

I bought a Micro HDMI to HDMI cord on amazon for about 3 dollars also, it worked perfectly fine on my 42inch LCDTV Panasonic. All I had to do was connect it and change the input on the TV to the right HDMI and it worked fine. Although watching movies with subtitles didn't work so well as the subtitles was left at the tablet screen, and I couldn't turn the tablet screen off while watching movies on my TV.
when you plug in the HDMI cord, the TF700 should show some kind of "HDMI" noticifation, and will stay on when connected. If you're not seeing this, then you'll need to figure out if it's the cord or HDMI port on one of your devices. The TV, hook something else to it that used HDMI. The cord, try another cord. Monoprice has them cheap too; probably like $5 with shipping. If you're not seeing the HDMI notification after the cord, and you know they cord is good, it's your TF.

I have problems as well, tried to connect my tf700 to my samsung UE46ES8005 led tv but cant get it to work
On LG i have no problems at all, but the samsung refuses. Tried different cables to no avail.
I have sent a mail to samsung support 3 days ago but no answer.... hmm

same her it works on my monitor but i have Panasonic tv and it doesn't work tried a variety of cables and no go but tried on a Toshiba TV at parents and it works.i had the prime and it work just fine
Asus really needs to add some HDMI scaling options to the TF700 to allow it to work with more TV's - I'm assuming these issues are because the TF700 only seems to output at it's native resolution, which most devices don't seem to like... I'll do some testing with my Toshiba 1080p TV today, just to see what I can find out as well and report any findings that may be useful.

I've connected the TF700T to be Panasonic 55TV50 Plasmass HDTV and to a Vizio 16" LCD TV. No issues.
Connecting to 2 Vizio tvs and a Hitachi no problem.
Our 58 inch Samstung plasma only sees the tablet connection on HDMI 3 which is the recommended port for a monitor hook up from a pc.

There is a HDMI encryption called HDCP that basically makes it more annoying to use HDMI than it should. Some TV's do not have HDCP enabled. Since the Infinity FORCES HDCP chances are whats happening is the TV doesnt know what to do with the encrypted signal and the tablet doesnt want to play nice so the TV will work.
Unfortunate for you, im guessing your TV is not compatible. Sorry for the bad news mate.
There have also been problems with people trying to use HDMI - DVI adapters and connect into DVI monitors, since a lot of (older) DVI devices also dont support HDCP or sometimes the connector itself doesnt have the right connections to make HDCP work often it all just doesnt work properly. Maybe in time there will be a hack to disable HDCP, until then theres not much you can do.

Again pileot... HDCP has NOTHING to do with it. Find me a monitor/tv that does have HDMI that does not have hdcp enabled..... they don't exist anymore.
If it has HDMI... then chances are 99.999999% that you have an HDCP compliant monitor.

DVI will not work because the 5v signal that is needed for the monitor to recognize that something is connected to it-- is not sent with our tablets.
Seems this question is repeated as soon as it falls off the first page......

TF700T HDMI out on Samsung UE46ES8005

Hi.
I thought on sharing my findings on how i solved getting my infinity to work with my led-tv.
I have tried all kind of stuff before this but i have a stubborn samsung that doesn't want to recognize the tab.
I got some tips from within xda that infinity lacks the 5v for hdmi out so the tv can sence that something is hocked up.
i bought a Andersson HDMI Switch 4x1 that has a poweradaptor to try this out.
It wasn't an easy go by just hooking things up.
so i tried hocking my laptop up to the switch and got the picture on the tv, then i connected the tab on the second hdmi port and the infinity recognized that the hdmi was attached, i tried to switch ports with the remote to the hdmi switch but that failed, so i disconnected the cable to the laptop and VOILA i got the tv to show the tablets screen on the TV screen, i can now scale the picture and everything works great.
If i leave the switch powered on and connected to the tv i can connect and disconnect the tab without problems.
If i power of the switch i have to go through the same procedure again to fool the tv to recognize that samething is hooked up to the hdmi port.
Hope this helps some of you with the same problem and stubborn tv sets.
Best regards
Mackis

Weird. I have a powered monoprice HDMI switch connected to a Denon Receiver, which connects to my Sony TV. I've had no problems with the TF700 Infinity being recognized. I also took the Infinity on a cruise and connected it to a Samsung 720p LCD TV with no problems. I believe that this would discount the theory that the Infinity doesn't have the right HDMI signal/voltage.
I assume that you tried changing HDMI cables? Perhaps the TF700 that you have has a defective HDMI port.

________
That was my first guess but after i read here on xda that even the cables can be defective i bought one more, then i tried different manifactures LG and philips lcd-tv worked with the infinity without problems, so i guess i have a tv that is too new. I contacted Samsung and they are looking in to it. Not that i have high hopes, for now im a happy camper solving it this way.

It's weird that the TV would recognize other HDMI devices but not the Infinity. At least you have it working.

Yes i know, i think its weird to, but i think its the 5v issue that my samsung model don't sence.
On the LG i have to change hdmi port with the remotecontrol to the tv for it to work or power it down and up again otherwise its not working. On the samsung lcd on my work i have no problems at all but it is older tv models. If i could get hold of some other tv model that anyone here have problems hooking up the infinity with i would be happy to try this solution and see if it works.

My HDMI out stopped working

It's Tuesday and up until Saturday I was able to connect my TF to my TV via the HDMI. However, as of today, it does not output audio or video to the tv. The sound and video remains on the tablet. This is while playing a movie and even Youtube. I don't have another micro hdmi cable to try, but I highly doubt my cable is damaged since I secured it after the last use. I tried shifting the cable about in case it had a short to see if anything would pop up - but nothing. I even tried a different hdmi port on the tv.
I tried rebooting both the tablet and tv, and also upgraded the firmware (had been postponing that ever since the update came out). I was also rooted before, but it was working fine.
Any ideas other than trying a new cable?
15 mins update:
I noticed with my cable connected to the tv - if I switch the tablet off and then on again (short press power button twice) the tv screen goes black and I can see a dull square outline on the tv. So I know the tablet like it is trying to do something. But still can't say if it's the cable or something else.
50 views and nobody with an idea?
in your case two way
factory reset
another cable or / and another screen

Turns out that my 15ft cable was bad . I bought a 6ft today and it works fine.
