Broken 2G/3G toggle - HTC Inspire 4G

I keep doing something or a number of things that cause my 2g/3g toggle to switch back to 2g for a minute and then right back to 3g without my pressing anything. I've tried the field test menu, wiping efs data, everything that can be wiped in CWM, reflashing, different ROMs, and nothing works. Rerooting worked the last time this happened but I've rooted again with hack kit 11 and gingerbreak with the OTA and it's just not working. I fixed it until a reboot last night with reflashing my radio but now no dice. I do not understand.

Partial Factory Resets?

So the past 2 days I've had an interesting problem, with even more interesting results.
Both mornings I've tried to use my GPS and it just hangs on trying to connect to it. The GPS says it's on, and I can toggle it off and back on again but it never finds any sats.
Yesterday I reboot the phone and it takes a while to boot the phone back up (most like the first time you boot after a fresh install), and when the phone came back online the GPS worked but all my bluetooth pairings were gone.
Today I have the same GPS problem so I reboot again, and again it takes a while to boot and so far I still have my bluetooth pairings, but I've been unable to connect to the devices, all my sound settings are back to the defaults, when I hold down the power button now the only option I have is Power Off, nothing else, when my screen times out and I hit power to bring it back on it goes right back to wherever I was, I don't see the lock screen anymore. And to top it all off my home button and my search button do not work.
What a mess, this phone is getting worse by the day, I'm actually starting to regret the purchase. I guess it's time to call it in and see what they say.
Edit: Forgot to add all my SMS messages were deleted as well.
Rooted? Have you done anything to it? That's definitely not normal but I guess you know that
Ya it's rooted and has nvflashed clockworkmod recovery installed. Rooted the day I got the phone and clockworkmod recovery has been installed for about a week.
I just tried clearing the cache partition, wiping Dalvik Cache, fixing permissions, and no change. Running a full backup via Titanium Backup now before I try a factory reset to see if that fixes it.
If that doesn't do it I'll try restoring a backup image from last week.

I would guess it's not the phone but the CWM made the mess. You probably want to try factory reset.
My Bluetooth settings and profiles randomly appear and disappear and I'm bone stock.
Well, factory reset got all my buttons working again, and my screen locks again. Since I'm back to stock now and have to re-setup everything now I think I'll go try out the Eaglesblood ROM and see how that goes.

[Q] Wifi Error

I was given an Insight that was pre-rooted with Coredroid on it. The wifi worked then, but after I turned it off and tried turning it back on it says "error". I tried switching it to a different rom (gtg465x's Inspired Ace), and at first the wifi worked. After I tried turning it off and back on again, it didn't. Then I flashed it back to stock and did a factory reset and the same thing happened with the wifi again.
Is it possible that a file was modified and didn't go back to its original state?
Sounds like you might have a file or data corruption with your wifi drivers or files. Make sure you perform a full wipe, then reflash rom. There are zip files that you can run through clockwork mod recovery that will perform the wipe for you.

Also, if you are backing anything up using Titanium backup or any other backup software, never back up and restore system settings, as this tends to cause problems.
If after a full wipe and reflash of rom, and you are still having problems, you might have a hardware issue.
Do I have to re-root it it get clockwork to work?
I read somewhere that a reset through the menu isn't the same as hard reset through the boot menu. I've tried a few different combinations of powering the phone while holding the volume button down. But I can't seem to get the boot menu to come up.
The phone has to be rooted/S-off in order for you to install clockwork mod recovery. There are two methods of rooting. You can try either
HTC Inspire 4G Simple One Click http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961406
or HTC Inspire/DHD Hack Kit V11 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952352
In order for you to boot into the bootloader, you must disable fast boot. Go to either Settings > Applications or Settings > Power to disable fast boot. Once disabled, shut down your phone completely. Once off, hold down the volume down button and then press and hold the power button until it loads the boot loader. NOTE: Be very careful with what you do you in bootloader.

bluetooth wont work

i did the ota Gb update but switched back to froyo the other day cuz i wanted my barnacle wifi tether to work but now my bluetooth wont work. i restored from a CWM backup and tried a plain old factory reset and bluetooth didnt work with either one. i tried to turn it on with the toggle switches and in the settings but it does the lil loading symbol and then nothing turns on.
does anyone have any tips or other setting things i can try? what are the chances of the bluetooth hardware breaking? any diagnostic apps i can use to check things?
ok so after trying different restore points and factory resets, i tried to do the ota gb update again but it failed multiple times. so i flashed the sbf again to completely remove the traces of rooting but that kinda failed too. lol everything seemed to work and i got the 'pass' from rsd but my settings and everything was the same and i didnt do a restore but now bluetooth works
SBF doesn't necessarily erase your /data partition.

[Q] Weird problem with phone/apn settings

So last night, I was trying move the dalvik cache to my ext2 partition. I am on a custom rom, b2tb. while trying to move dalvik, I did something wrong and it seriously screwed up my phone. I had a backup, but when i tried to restore it, i got an md5sum mismatch. I had two choices: odin, or wipe data/factory reset. not wanting to deal with going all the way back to stock, root, install cwm recovery, flash again, all that, i chose to wipe data through recovery mode. it fixed whatever i screwed up, but now when i reboot, my phone doesnt connect to data right away, and i get a message saying process com.android.phone has stopped working. i force close it and then it connects, but then it usually force closes again. i think its because my apn isnt connecting right away, and also think my apn settings could somehow be stored on my sd card, because it wont stay connected until after it says media scanning completed in the notification bar. i could be wrong about where my apn settings are being stored, but im still having problems with my internet connection not working right away on reboot. if i cant fix this, im gonna have to reflash b2tb and i dont want to do that. please help.
try to reset the apn settings i forgot what app does that to save the battery

[Q] Roms unable to activate after installation

So I installed clockwork and then installed an unlocked bootloader, after that I booted into recovery and installed cm 10 and gapps after I wiped data. Once that all finished I started the phone up I was already activated and stuff like that, but every time I would restart it would bring up a screen talking about activating my phone, and it never did anything just sat on that screen.
So I looked around and saw a post with someone having the same issue, and someone told them to wipe data and clear dalvik cache, so that's what I did. Once I started it back up, I had to go through the setup process again, this time it stopped and activated my phone, but it fails every time.
How could I fix this? I also tried installing cm10.1 and Liquid and neither of those would activate either.
If all else fails I will do http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867253 but I'm afraid that won't work correctly either..
Had the same problem after flashing the Carbon rom. Try going in settings>More>Mobile Networks>Preferred Network Mode. Select CDMA / EvDo auto. Reboot.
Ah that fixed it! I didn't have to activate either, it just started working.
Oddly though I tried dialing *22890 and it failed to activate.
I do have another question though, when I reboot it still seems to come up with the activation screen. Any idea how I can stop that from happening?
