Hello,
I'm returning my G2X to tmo due to many problems I'm having.
All I had done was root it using superoneclick and froze some apps.
So today I unfroze the apps and used superoneclick to unroot.
How do I check and make sure that the tmobile guys isn't going to do some boot sequence to see if it's rooted.
Thanks
Download Terminal Emulator and type su into it.
If it returns with a #, you still have root.

Would it be the same if you just looked for the SU app in the app drawer?
OK, typing su returned an error about uuid, and superuser is not in the apps list.
Cheers

maybe putting this in the RIGHT section would help....
but just unroot with the oneclick root tool....then run tibu or root explorer or a app than needs su permissions
No superuser. Thats how to be sure.

Went to stock and unrooted!
Good thing cuz rep looked at it up and down!

Don't worry they wont even check. Superuser app is about as far as they would go.

i emailed the Superuser guys about a month ago with an issue where i would get constant notifications to update my superuser binary, no matter how many times i actually updated it, and they sent me a CWM zip to flash and try to fix the problem (new version of superuser). i flashed it and all went well. i've been having the same issue again so i thought "why not try the same thing" and flashed the zip but lost root somehow. so is there any way that i could just push the files for root? can that be done on a GB rom?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Sounds like the binaries in your kernel are outdated. Try flashing a new rooted kernel. If you're on GB try drhonks kj1
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
i figured a kernel flash would help so i did it (forgot to write that in the OP) and i flashed the kj1 but it didnt help
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I always had that problem everytime i updated superuser in the market and phone reboots it reports binaries out of date. It only happens to me when i update superuser, so trying leaving superuser alone and not update it.

This will flash everything. If that doesn't work... then I will post a video of me punching myself on youtube. (just kidding...)
But really, The one-click makes these "it doesn't work" or "I can't root" problems go away.
does it have to be heimdall flashed forbit to work? i flashed with cwm and the kernel flashed but i still dont have root
edit: heimdall flashed, still nothing

I read somewhere that you can flash su via cwm from a zip that its in the superuser page. might wanna check it out. Sorry if im wrong!
/me punches self in face.
So... Let me get this straight.
You ran the kj1 or kj6 (not the fully stock) one-click and you didn't have root at that point? Are you doing something after the one-click?

I would be nice if you answered my question.
Sorry, not trying to be pushy, just really curious.
Is it possible to just deny superuser permissions for this, allow bootstrap SU permission again? Reason i'm asking is cause i'm on RebelROM but not getting GPS lock....many are saying it's due to CWM on boot, I want to see if that fixes my issue.
Thanks

Use root checker to confirm?
You can also see if super user app is there in your applications...
ofcourse you can check that by downloading root checker app from play store.

Just reflash.
Like lumin says reflash. Use the second link in his signature.
However what rom are/were you on?If it is not a stock based rom dont use the reset feature within the phone use the one in recovery.
Thanks lumin you continue to be a trusted advisor. I flashed
a stock gingerbread from lumin last week.

Perfect is a hard statement to make. Any of the ICS flavors are pretty stable there are bugs but even stock roms have bugs. I think barebones by antonx is a good one and VB by FB is too.
Is it add simple as installing stock GB was using heimdall? I've read good things about VB would you possibly post a link? Most I click on are dead/inoperable...

Run Gremlin Remover and go from there. You will have root and CWM to flash the ROM you want.

I'm not sure that I understand the cwm. Click work mod? I put that on my CPU and tether it with the market app? Sorry this is still very new to me...

All i know is that you could odin back to a rootable build, and then reroot and install the rooted version of the latest from here
If anybody knows an easier way feel free to share
Like others below me said, use this method here
Yeah just re root. You don't have to Odin back. The new build can still be rooted just like the other ones.

It works. It's always been a little buggy. Keep trying. I did have to install superuser from the play store manually afterwards though. Maybe you got the SU binary pushed and just need to do that still?

OTA will always break root but eventually it will not only break root but also break unlock exploits regardless of any app. Ask the EVO 4G LTE guys who are now stuck with locked bootloader.

Someone correct me if im wrong, but in order to root this phone you need to flash an already rooted ROM, you must use the nvflash link that was provided for you no matter what, and then once CWM is flashed, flash a ROM.
Hope this helped!

Super one click doesn't put cwm recovery on the phone if you want rooted stock kwes has one pre made flash through cwm easy as pie guys. I dont understand why you would want your phone rooted with no recovery installed. Just makes it harder to fix if you mess up
