Did you install clockwork mod with rom manager or NVFlash?
If you installed it through NVflash, clockwork mod is permanently on your phone by holding Volume Down + Power....if your not getting there....you didnt.....
If you used Rom Manager, you fake-flashed and won't be able to get there. The only way is by using NVFlash to install clockwork and restoring your nandroid. Go here
OR if you just wanna go back to stock, factory reset by holding both volume keys and power then releasing power when the screen is on....Good luck!

Yea I used NVFlash and just hit the root button, then it asked to install something since I didn't have it, I agreed, then it loaded again and was complete. Superuser was added to my apps and that's it. I think I have a brick lol, oh well, I honestly hated not having an led for notifications anyway. I got a weird screen a few mins ago though and it was stuck for like an hour. It said "updating s/w, please wait". Then went away and now it won't go past the LG screen...
Any ideas or anyone want to buy it for like 130?

The way you described NVFlash seems like you didn't actually use NVFlash. There is no root button involved with NVFlash.
To root the phone, you probably used superoneclickroot.
To install clockworkmod recovery you could have installed it through rom manager or installed it manually using NVFlash, which is a command line utility (unless you used the one click clockwork recovery found in this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847).
Can you clear these things up so we can further help.
I'll also buy it for 130 if you don't want to deal with it.
Yea you're right, I forgot, sorry finals have fogged my mind the last few days. I used superoneclick for sure and flashed the recovery through ROM manager. Will the NVFlash help get to somewhere to flash by backup or hell, even the stock rom? I just got back to my computer at home and am gonna try some things.. I'll report back..
Edit: Ok I think I found the problem. I have Eagleblood 1.02 ROM and I loaded a Kernel from a p990 (Optimus 2x) and NOT the p999 (G2x). When I plug my phone in it says LGE P990 now. So is there any fixing this? I can plug it in and it'll popo up with the notification window for the safe remove and mass storage but I still can't access the recovery image??
You should definitely flash clockworkmod recovery via NVFlash. The easiest way would be to follow this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
It provides an easy to use user interface to NVFlash to flash clockworkmod recovery. After that, I guess you could flash CM7 nightly and hopefully it'll load the approriate kernel. I'm new to android so I'm not sure if ROMs contain the kernel too, but I'm guessing it is because looking at the CM7 source, they seem to include the kernel. Then after that you can flash the stock nandroid found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274
Note: you could possibly just flash the stock nandroid instead of CM7 and it could still work out, but I'm not sure.
Sweet NVFlash fixed it, I have my recovery image again, flashed my backup and am right where I left it, Thanks man!
Im also new to rooting and flashing.....I flashed using rommanager and everything was fine till I flashed cyanogen...now I can't get to rcocery screen and I have no computer for the next few days....don't get me wrong ibwant to keep this rom-2.3.4 but it doesn't come with Google apps which i have installed on my SD but can't flash.....someonehelp
Lol, I'm nowhere near new at rooting/flashing but this phone is the first to ever NOT have a back up plan..
You'll have to do exactly what I did. Honestly, NO ONE should flash anything without the REAL recovery image and NOT through ROM manager, otherwise in this case your without a phone until you can get to a computer.
Use the NVFlash method posted above, it takes a couple minutes and then its permanent. Afterwards, if you ever flash something buggy or broken, you can always fall back on vol down and power..

Hi I'm kinda new to all this. Have had rooted phones in the past with the clockwork mod. I used Gingerbreak to root the g2x. Then I installed Rom Manager flashed a recovery. Then I flashed the build 15 of CM7. Worked pretty well. Then I tried to flash to oc/uv kernel and it put the phone into a bootloop with the stock lg display. After this I went into the forums and saw how important it was to us NVflash...woops. anyways I've tried to run NVFlash on my computer to flash a recovery...no go it will not go into recovery, the computer says usb device not found. The closest i get to recovery is when I hold the volume button down and power during startup. Please help, I know there's some smart people out there that know a solution!
Did you ever install the app EasyTether? if you're able to get into recovery, flash your nandroid backup (if you have one :-/)
didn't install easy tether and no nandroid backup unfortunately
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274
there's the original stock nandroid you can use to restore your phone...
when you press the voldown + pwr what exactly do you get? [Edit:] did you use the one click NVFlash method? Technically this will only be easy if you're able to flash NVFlash first... But definitely download the stock nandroid as you'll have to flash that first before going back to a custom rom
when i press power + vol- it looks like its going into recovery and then it just shuts down again. unfortunately i just flashed a backup with the rom manager and did no nvflash. i'm kind of new at this so if i can get a step by step on using nvflash to recover this, that would be awesome, there was another thread that explained it, but when i did it it said usb device not connected. I hope i don't have a 500 dollar paperweight
Did you watch the video tutorial http://theunlockr.com/2011/05/03/how-to-flash-a-custom-recovery-image-on-the-t-mobile-g2x/
it gives it to you step by step.... If you've downloaded and placed everything where it needs to be it really should work...
If you're still having problems after watching the video you should post in the NVflash forum...

Did you ever get your phone working? Mine is bootlooping too and won't go into recovery. I know there are small tricks with each kind of phone and this is my first LG. Strange thing is that I didn't flash the rom yet just rooted with backups.
Just wondering if what was posted worked for you? It be great if you could let me know. there are so many unresolved threads out there when searching the forums.
Thanks.
I am def a newB and have taken the plunge into custom roms. I followed the directions to installing Infuse with modded 3e recovery and cwm going to rom mgr and doing the download and now my phone is just displaying "SAMSUNG" across screen its been about 10 minutes. Question is, is the rom installing or is the phone bricked and what are the signs of a brick? How would long does a wiped Infuse download usally take?
It shouldn't take that long
infuse 4g "a lot a screen real estate"
So how would i know if the phone is bricked???

take battery out and try turning it on again after putting it back in. if it starts booting and you get the lady talking, your good, but if it just sits there, you most likely have a brick.
No worries though. Just follow these steps to get back to stock and your golden:
Ultimate Unbrick Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
once your back to stock you can flash the community kernel via odin:
Community kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119598
Once this is done, your rooted (just need to download superuser from market), and you have been lagfixed(with the lady talking on boot) and you have CWM to flash roms easily (accessible via: turning phone off, holding down volume buttons, press power till you see samsung logo, then keep holding volume buttons till red text comes up)
Then you should be back to the game
I really appreciated my heart is racing right now with uncertainty. I havent done what u mentioned but i did hold the power button and volume keys and now I do have access to a red menu that says ClockworkMod recovery v2.5.1.3 - Voodoo lagfix. does this mean anything???

the update.zip wont do anything. there's nothing to flash...
Another thing you can try is to flash the rom again, since you have access to red CWM... then if that doesnt work, follow the unbrick procedure
May be dumb question but how do i flash rom from red screen(link???) thanks
Assuming you have the zip for the ROM installed to your internal SD (CWM can't find stuff on the external SD unfortunately...)
Use VolUp/VolDown to navigate through CWM.
Wipe Data/Factory Reset should always be done when changing from one ROM to another. Usually not needed when updating a ROM from a previous version of the same one.
Then choose "Install zip from sdcard" then "Choose zip from sdcard" and navigate to the zip for the ROM.
However if Voodoo Lagfix is interacting strangely with your phone, other steps may be needed.
Good news is that if you can get into CWM, at least your kernel is in decent shape.
For whatever reason I never heard the lady speaking when I installed my ROM, although I may have gone into the other room and done something else.
Well for some reason I cant go to the page with the GTG unbrick download which sucks idk maybe u can email me the zip file [email protected] if not I guess i'll be back once I get home and try to figure this thing out. smh phone down
Thanks Entrophy512 I will give this a try and get back w the results
Entrophy512 followed your directions screen is displaying SAMSUNG you have any idea about how long the phone should be in this state???
Not long
5 minutes ish
is the lady talking??

Install TiBu from the market.
Restore user apps + data - don't restore system data. You may in that case still need to put in the info for your Google account, etc and tweak some settings.
Ok im finally up and running. Question what is the proper way to turn the device completely off. I tried yesterday and I see I have an extended power off menu with various options. What do they mean? Yest I chose turn phone off and the phone went to the downloading screen with the big yellow android w the shovel. Again thanks to you all.
I got my TF yesterday, I rooted today, and everything has been working marvelously.
That is, until I got ambitious. This is the fifth android device I've installed a custom ROM to, so I figured it would be smooth sailing. I did a nandroid backup in CWM, and then installed the newest version of Prime, which then refused to boot. Ever the optimist, I restore my backup. Which also won't boot. Then I get frustrated. Moving on, I try out Revolver, which then boots just fine. I download Revolver Parts, and it tells me there is an update (I installed 3.5.2), which I confirm for install. The tablet reboots, and never makes it into CWM..
Every time it boots, I get to the initial screen, that says Eee PC, Asus, and NVidia. after two or three seconds, it goes black, and starts again. If I tell it to enter recovery, it reboots and never gets to CWM. The only way I found to get it to boot is to hold volume down, and then NOT hit volume up to enter recovery, and cold boot android from there.
The tablet is still functioning, but without being able to get into recovery, I'm feeling paranoid about something happening that would need recovery to... recover from.
I wasn't able to find any answers after looking for most of the day; I thought perhaps NVflash would help (I can get into USB mode by holding volume up), but the download link isn't working. Does anyone have any suggestions, or have heard of anything like this before? Any answers at all would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

yea, this happen somtime, not sure why, especially with prime for me. use nvflash and push revolver 3.5.2 with cwm, busybox, and su. then make a nand and try and restore it.
you could always try holding low vol + pwr for 6 secs then let go of owr but still hold low vol untill promt tells you to hit high vol to load cwm. that should work as well....
Thanks for the replies, both of you. Nvflash fixed it, works like a charm now. I love this device

i have yet to see anyone say "delete" the recovery file. it is always "overwrite". regardless, put your phone into download mode. you are doing it wrong. try again until you get it right.
remove the battery. leave it off for 10 seconds. put it back in. press and hold the two volume buttons at the same time. then plug in the usb cable that is connected to your computer. odin should be running already. i would follow gb start pack from here.
i turned of the phone and held the volume down button and the power button, letting go of the power once the turn on screen came up. i was trying to flash the leaked android 2.3.5 for the galaxy s 4g
please read my previous post carefully. i never said to press the power button at all.
OKAY, dwld mode is volumes plus USB cable, never failed me, even when I failed a flash through odin/heimdall and just maybe a yellow pixel or even nothing shows up.
If it flashes it is dwld. The GS4g has absolutely no junk bootloader witthout proper download mode unlike other galaxies.
PS. Who else wants a Galaxy Nexus?
What is the tmobile warranty policy, I know if there is a problem with your phone even due to damage, the warranty covers it for replacement after paying contract price, but do they allow a change of phone eg instead of paying 99 or 139 for another gs4g, get a galaxy nexus for 199?
My phone works, but after it fell, it overheats and loses battery. I even got a free new battery, and I even went back to stock KD1 for a while, no difference.
So, I did what you said, and i got into download mode, no problem. but when i tried to flash with odin it just said fail.. any suggestions?
Although the square window might say "Fail" there's a status window in the bottom left-hand side of ODIN that should give you more information. What does that window say when you try to flash?
It said succesful 0/ failed 1. I tried to reboot my phone and now it won't turn on at all...
It sounds like your boot loaders are hosed.
Keep ODIN open & use the battery-pull method to see if it'll go into download mode (the screen might still be black, but see if ODIN recognizes it).
If it does:
Download chadster's KG4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183413
Put CODE_T959VUVKG4_CL138158_REV00_user_low_noship.tar.md5 in PDA
Put Hawk_Sidekick_VibrantPlus_831.pit in PIT
Put SGH-T959V-CSC-TMB-VIBRANT.tar.md5 in CSC
Put T959VUVKG4-Phone-CL1037720.tar.md5 in PHONE
Let ODIN decide what boxes need to be checked and flash. That will get you booted up on GB with the proper boot loaders.
Try the Unbrickable Mod in the dev section. Brought mine back today. I had a Bright WHITE screen. lol
NO BOOT
After flashing this kernel> sms-T959V-KJ6-antsvx.v1.1.3 my Galaxy S4G will not boot AFTER restoring my backup using CWM 5.0.2.8. My phone runs perfect with the stock rom and this kernel. ONLY after restoring does it NOT boot.
Can someone shine some light on this situation?
You need to restore using the kernel you made the back up from. You can then flash the new kernel over the restored back up.

---------- Post added at 05:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:42 PM ----------
Thanks much Lumin30. Had to read your post sloooow and figure it out, and I got it. I flashed the stock+Voodoo-T959VKJ1 in Odin and it booted right up
then flashed the sms-T959V-KJ6-antsvx.v1.1.3 kernel in CWM. Im good to go now.
This has happened to me 2 other times can you suggest why? The other times I restored phone back to factory :crying:.
Still not booting AFTER restoring cwm backup
I always attempt to restore a backup that I have made using cwm as a test. Im trying to restore using the same kernel I made the backup with. When I proceed the full restore appears to go through (I get "restore complete" message in CWM v.5.0.2.8), but when I click on "reboot system now" my phone goes ONLY to the Samsung screen and stays there.
I have restored my phone to stock about 5 times carefully re-rooting and flashing the kernel with the stock firmware. Now, I have AntonX Barebones and Basic with a twist kernel installed, they work perfectly! But I CANNOT boot AFTER restoring a full backup, unless I use Odin. Can someone help me to address and fix the cause?
Edit> I was able to restore and boot up automatically a backup using CWM 5.0.2.8 of AntonX's Barebones Rom with bhundven's Blastoff 2.5 kernel. Dont know why it restored and booted properly this time but this is what I did:
I made a fresh backup of Barebones with Blastoff because I wanted to try Valhalla Black (nice ROM). I flashed it first using the "generic" install and checked through its features then wanted to see how the "custom" install felt. I decided I liked Barebones better and flashed the Blastoff kernel onto Valhalla Black, Then booted into CWM and restored my Barebones with Blastoff backup. Without wiping anything or fixing permissions my backup was fully restored and my phone booted properly on its own. I know this is what should happen, but it wasnt for me. And every time I attempted this I was restoring using the same kernel that the backup was made with. I restored twice since just to test it and both times my phone booted on its own. I believe my problemo is solved. It is possible I had a couple of bad downloads on my part with AntonX Basic with a twist 1.1.3

First I'd like to thank the mods and everyone who contributes to this forum. It's an invaluable resource. Now to my problem.
Asus Tf700 is unlocked and rooted on latest TWRP recovery, which does work. However, after making a backup with the new TWRP version, the tablet is stuck on the boot screen (spinning wheel). Last week I flashed a JB ROM, didn't like it, so went back to ICS with the .30 firmware. Flashed it using old version of TWRP from micro-SD card. Device has been working fine since then. I tried reflashing the .30 kernel again using the same method. It installs kernel, but no luck, still stuck on boot screen. Then I tried TWRP restore, using the new restore file. It restores, but goes to the boot screen and just spins. Any ideas? nvFlash is unavailable to me. What else can I do? Should I try a factory restore in TWRP? I'll keep messing with it later today, but any suggestions are appreciated.
When you install a stock rom, doesnt it install back the stock recovery? I would try reflashing twrp and installing cleanrom, keep it as stock as possible and see if it boots.

Rom: CleanRom 3.4.4
A spinning Asus wheel is always recoverable.
You have some incompatible rom / kernel / bootloader / data combination I suspect. It's easily done.
I'd make sure you are on a more recent version of TWRP - something like 2.3.1.0 or 2.3.3.0 that supports ICS and JB. It's very dangerous leaving such an old version of TWRP if you go to JB.....
Personally I'd update TWRP to 2.3.1.0 and then install the latest JB file from the Asus website to start with.

1. What bootloader are you on currently? (See 4)
2. By flashing the ".30 kernel" I assume you mean flashing the .30 stock ROM, am I right?
Your device went into a hung boot after making the backup, so I'm not really surprised it does exactly the same when you restore that backup. Have you tried flashing .30 stock ROM again?
3. Which recovery do you currently have? As Tylorw1 said, if you flash a full stock ROM, you'll reflash everything, up to and including the bootloader and recovery.
4. If you still have fastboot available (pick the USB symbol instead of RCK after POWER+VOL_DOWNing), you might want to try to reflash either TWRP or CWM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926286 for the latter; I have VERY limited experience with the former and you may well have more than me ).
Updating your bootloader just to be sure is recommended, as most current ROMs will not boot properly without it.
Has the fiddling brought any new points of view, or new discoveries?
Update
Just got in from work. Of course can't do anything else but try to get this unworking device to boot. Not in panic mode yet, as I assume if I get to the spinning wheel, there is hope for recovery.
Just flashed back to the stock ROM, which indeed restored stock recovery. Still would not boot past Asus wheel. Now I will attempt to install the latest TWRP version using fastboot, then try to flash new ROM. Panic is slowly creeping in, but I think I just need to keep at it. How should I proceed once latest version of TWRP is installed? Backup? Flash? Android is new territory for me, a bit rockier than Windows. If this were a laptop on Windows 7 I'd be up and running already . Thanx for the replies and any help.
OK. I used stock recovery to to a system restore. That worked, but of course all user data and apps are gone. Assume root access is also history, so it's just a matter of getting root access and restoring apps. I made a backup to SD card using Titanium Backup. Can I restore from here using the backup file, or should I just stop complaining and be happy I got the damn thing to boot?!!! No big deal really: I'm back to STOCK .26, virgin device (except for being unlocked). Guess I'll get root and move on. Thanks. Great work here. I've learned a lot browsing these forums. Maybe one day I'll graduate from N00B status!

I know exactly what you're talking about. Was there once as well, and still it is changing so fast it's hard to keep up.

I would not take the chance, and just leave it as it is.

device (except for being unlocked). Guess I'll get root and move on. Thanks. Great work here. I've learned a lot browsing these forums. Maybe one day I'll graduate from N00B status!

You've done great, and I am happy to hear you got it up and running. I started out answering before reading your post in full, assuming it wasn;t fixed yet. Left the comments for reference (and fun, or mockery... -- good job, see you around!
same issue
Hi,
I have a same issue. I still was using the original ROM of ASUS. Now JB.
The device was once rooted in ICS, but that was lost when going to JB. And I did not yet try to reroot it. I was running JB already several months.
The device is unlocked, but I did not install a custom boatloader yet.
This week I was working in the car. Using the 3G connection of my phone and shared it via bluetooth to my pad to access my mails.
Suddenly the pad rebooted, and it never got further than the ASUS screen with the spinning wheel.
I can boot in recovery mode (power and V-), but then I cannot use my V+ buttom. I can only select the RCK, but unfortunately, It's not succesful. I first get the android with open lid and the spinning ball, but after a few seconds it changes to the android with the open lid laying on his bag with the red triangle on it. And it stays like this forever.
I cannot seem to enter fastboot mode (power and V+)
any suggenstion? All data can be erased. No problem as long as the tablet is working again.

When you hold down vol- and power button to boot into stock recovery, then when you see white text on the screen, let go both buttons, then hitting the Vol down button to move the highlighted to USB icon, can you try that?
Edit: if that's working move the highlighted to the "WIPE" icon, then hit Volume up twice, this will perform factory reset and wipe all your data and reset your device back to factory setup. You will see the Android spinning for awhile then your tablet will reboot and you will have to do the setup again, just like when you just brought the device.

Thanks for your help. I can boot into stock recovery. But I could move to the USB icon or the the Wipe Icon previously. Now I was able to select the Wipe Data Icon and currently I'm at the virgin "Welcome" screen again.
I don't understand why now it's working and previously not. Did I switch the v- and v+ button? If that's the case, I'm even a bigger idiot then I thought :silly:
Anyhow, All well that ends well.
Stuck on spinning wheel as well

A spinning Asus wheel is always recoverable.
You have some incompatible rom / kernel / bootloader / data combination I suspect. It's easily done.
I'd make sure you are on a more recent version of TWRP - something like 2.3.1.0 or 2.3.3.0 that supports ICS and JB. It's very dangerous leaving such an old version of TWRP if you go to JB.....
Personally I'd update TWRP to 2.3.1.0 and then install the latest JB file from the Asus website to start with.

Hi sdbags! Thanks for all the work that you have put in to make this rom!
I am stuck on the spinning wheel as well. I installed cromi x last week. The tab was working okay. Very laggy, was very disappointed. I guess I did something wrong? Last night I used lagfix and rebooted. Since then the tablet has been stuck on the spinning wheel stage. I am pretty sure I installed the latest version of TWRP and checked I had the latest bootloader. Can I check these things now? Also if they are outdated how I do I update them if my tablet wont boot up?
Thanks!

Lagfix takes a good 20 mins to complete, even though it says it has finished after 5. I wonder if you rebooted too early. If you have sync off it can cause corruption on the data partition which might be your issue.
The fix is to format data from the twrp wipe menu and reflash. You will lose Everything on internal so back up in twrp first please.
Sigh - all for naught
stuck on spinning cyan screen

Why can't you go back? Vol down and power doesn't work?
CM requires you to be on the 10.6.1.14.4+ bootloader first. Also a wipe before installing is mandatory.

i have tried several times to use the vol- and power buttons but it doesnt seem to work. i press them and then i feel like its trying but doesnt go anywhere just stays on the black screen. adb recognizes the tablet but says it is offline because the boot screen is stuck. it usually only took a few seconds for it to go to the fastboot screen but nothing now. any ideas, if i get to the fastboot i can correct the problem.

Hmm that sounds like apx mode to me. If you didn't save nvflash backups I suspect it has bricked
I just updated to KitKat via this threat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52214068
I noticed that the tablet was running excessively slow and so I decided to do a Factory Reset from within the tablets Setting. Now it's rebooted and it's sitting at the Android and the spinning thing in it's chest for more than 5 mins. Does it normally take this long?
stuck itwrp 2.7.0.0
Hey guys
Long time reader 1st time asking for help. Had tf700t unlocked, rooted and running cm 10.2.1 with twrp 2.6.3.1. Tried several times to load cm 11 and met only with failure. Read a post to try twrp 2.7.0.0. Loaded twrp 2.7.0.0, via goo, backed up everything and tried to flash cm 11. Tablet stuck in wipe mode for 90 minutes. (didn't even get a chance to load it!) I stopped it and re-started into twrp 2.7.0.0. Tried to recover and got pictured error, basically stating that at the wiping data point - E:Unable to mount '/data'. Tried to flash new rom and get the same thing. I can get into recovery but that is about it..............spock help me

TWRP 2.7 does take a long time to wipe. You shouldn't have interrupted it. Now you probably have a corrupted data partition and you will have to format it. That will erase all your data, but if the nandroid you made was successful, that should not be a problem.
