[Q] google nexus one vs samsung galaxy s i9000 - General Questions and Answers

which is better Google nexus one or Samsung galaxy s i9000 in camera ,display, wifi
,gps,internet browsing and application

cane any one answer me

I personally love my i896, which is similar to the i9000, and from my understanding, aside from a few missing features is almost identical. I could be wrong, but im quite happy with the galaxy series

thanx for answering but i see that google nexus is always superior in quadrant test
does this means that the devis if faster than galaxy in runing applications

You must understand that quadrant is a syntethic benchmark, and the score is not always representing the true potential of the device.
Galaxy s is way more powerful than the nexus one, even if it gets lower score in quadrant.

Another thing to consider is the reliability of each to receiving updates. I'm speaking from personal experience when I say that Samsung does not do a great job with putting out updates quickly. Sometimes months behind others. However Nexus one...I mean....its Google

thank u very much u will save me some money because nesux is more expensive than the galaxy

still weighting for other openions

Camera: Tough, But the Nexus S has a flash, but the i9000 has 720p recording on the stock rom. But I'ma say NS
Display: Hands down i9000
Wifi: Pretty much the same
GPS: N1, The i9000 has had some issues with it
But i'd still say go for the i900, Newer Hardware, faster, and the screen is amazing

thanx for the details

vote for samsung for best quality screen

So i guess samsung i 9000 is winner here:d

is their difernce between nexus one and nexus s

Hey!
Don't they both have the same SAMOLED display?
Or taking into consideration Contour vs Gorilla Glass?
And how is the i9000 newer/faster?
They both have the same innards, plus no TouchWiz lag on the NS

Nexus S as compared to Galaxy SII :S

Hi guys,
Galaxy SII blew away my senses with its performance. It is too slick. Do Benchmark softwares like quadrant have any significance ? Mine Nexus S shows a very high score but its not even half slick as SII Which ROMs should I try, if I am looking for a slick Rom. Or the hardware difference is of a significant matter here ?

Go AOSP(CM7/MIUI) and then use a kernel that will allow you to over-clock the crap out of your NS. You might still not reach desired performance compare to a stock or even over-clocked S2.
You're trying to compare dual core to single core here, not to mention double the amount of RAM.
Ive used my mates SII, its a great phone to be sure, but honestly in everyday usage terms theres almost nothing between them. Theres some factors i prefer about the SII, but none of them are really enough to make me wish i had one over my NS.
That may change with the arrival of the Nexus prime. However, ultimately everything becomes obsolete, thats why i purchased the NS, hopefully to avoid some of that. However, i do think that Google really should have made the NS a dual core device, even if it delayed it slightly.

Google made a very good choice when they put the best single core processor available in the Nexus S.
There are barely any dual core socs that beat the samsung chip here.
And no, Tegra 2 does not beat it.
Both cores aren't even being used properly.
The Galaxy S II is barely any better than the Nexus S.
The Nexus Prime will probably rape both though.

This. Dual core is a waste in 2011. My ns4g is faster and more responsive than my friends dual core devices.(plus I have almost 300mb available ram)

Guys,
I am "only" talking in terms of performance and I have noticed a huge difference.
As far I think it is the dual core that is making this kind of difference.
Sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA App
to be honest yes. there is a big difference. not only in speed but in 3d, video rendering+formts, in browsing... they are both due to the software (hardware acceleration tweaks touchwizz added) and the hardware too. never base yourself on forums for these things. ppl generally tend to defend their devices. lol and i do it too at times. just take a look in the nexus one forum, you'll find a couple of threads over there saying that from nexus 1 to nexus s was no upgrade at all.
the thing is ..you cant compare these 2 devices. the nexus s is already a nearly 10 month old device and the sII is still the creme de la creme!
I had a SGSII prior to getting my I9020A Nexus S (on ATT in the US).
In short, the SGSII's screen was shiny and bright, but the low resolution on such a large screen looked bad, IMO. Plus the phone was too flat and slippery and adding a case made it huge. In the end, I could not deal with Touchwiz and radio issues with data speed/dropping. I returned it and have a renewed love for my Nexus S.

I found video capability to be class apart ! Just blew my senses away
And agree, even I am using it since 10 months and it is old now. But still not that old. Anyways, Android is moving towards right direction and finally perfect hardware maturity has been attained to give a superb user experience, in fact at par with iOS. Before every pounces on me , I have always been an android fan but always considered iOS to be a superior OS.

The BEST overall Android phone?

Alright, Im just wondering, what is the BEST android phone currently available?
By BEST, I mean best overall, if you were to rate the phones on everything they do, and give them a score, what phone would have the highest score?
Samsung galaxy s2

SGSII, SGNote and the SGNexus.
SGS2 best combination of:
•Screen Tech (super amoled plus)
•Performance (1.2 ghz dual core exynos)
•Memory (16gb + microSD and 1gb RAM)
•Cameras (great quality 8mp with 1080p video and 2mp FFC)
•Support (Samsungs current flagship and garanteed ICS)
Another vote for the SII. Thin, light and feature packed. ICS will make it the best android phone on the market until the next Gen phones roll off the assembly lines.
International s2

hard pick at the moment, but samsung for sure.
the nexus for its amazing highres screen, but the s2 for its speed.
i guess i'd have to go for speed and the go for the s2.
IMO, a pick between:
SG S2
SG Note
SG Tablet 7.7
all those 3 are the best on the market currently

Nexus i would say.
+1 for the samsung galaxy note. Not just because I have one, but because I chose to buy it.
Samsungs probably are the best Android phones. I think maybe LG would be another good one now. But HTC...I just can't stand Sense and that terrible phone app. The only good HTC phones will come with WP7 because MS forces HTC to leave out Sense and use the exclusive WP7 phone app.
If I buy another Android phone, it will likely be a Samsung or LG. If I buy another HTC, it will be a WP7 phone.
Hmmn, if you don't like sense, aosp? Samsung do have nice displays/processors but it all depends on your carrier and preferences, I'm gonna hold out for the first quad-core... Unless you need it yesterday, I would wait, just an opinion...
i would not pick S2 now because of it's lower screen resolution compare to note and nexus
s2 800 x 480
nexus 1280 x 720
note 1280 x 800

Best Android phone on the market?

No, the best phone out there would be right now the galaxy s2, this is why:
-Exynos 1.2 gHz processor: much better than qualcomm no matter what (surpassed maybe by the S4 or the Tegra 3 but not yet released)
-Better 8 mp camera: The sensors used by this camera are excellent (maybe only surpassed by the iPhone 4S sensors).
-Mali 400 GPU: One of the best gpu existing today in the market only found in a couple of phones (again maybe only surpassed by the nonreleased chip of the MWC)
-Super Lightweight: One of the lightest phone that some may say it feels cheap but dont
-Super Thin: One of the thinnest phone today only surpassed by the RAZR and other unknown phones.
-Super Amoled Plus screen: Wonderful screen with surprising colors that amaze everyone and with its plus technology it makes a more resolution effect although its only 800x480
this would be some of the reasons of why to choose it
here are my two cents hope it helps, thank if i helped

I have to agree here. While I do agree the SII is better (yeah I'm a GNex owner and my butt is a bit hurt from it) I don't see the margin of difference terribly large. The GNex is still an outstanding phone.
how much is "soon"?
If I was in your shoes, I would prob wait for Samsung galaxy S3.
I agree the international version of S2 is the best, the galaxy nexus does have a excellent screen, one of the best noise cancellation to be found on a phone. Top 3 android phones until Tegra 3 hits is Galaxy S2, Galaxy Nexus, Droid Razr Maxx.
Wait for GalaxyS3
I have a galaxy s and its amazing. I cant wait for the galaxy 3
Sony Xperia S, it's got a 12mp camera. The best in Android
This is 3vo CDMA (sprint) not GSM (tmo, att, or a carrier that gives a sim card)
EVO 3D. Even though 3D code is only for sense 3.0, the 3vo has quite possibly the best selection of rooms I have ever seen. So far we have:
1. AOSP
2. CM7
3. Sense 3.0
4. Sense 3.5
5. Sense 3.6 (work in progress, or wip)
6. Sense 4.0 (wip)
7. Evo view 4g sense (tablet rom on 3vo)
8. ICS 4.0.3 (only issue is camera)
9. CM9 (same as ics)
And maybe more.!
Not to mention our various tweaks, amazing quadrant scores, dual core processor, 1.5 gHz STABLE over clock with good battery life still (we can go up to 1.8 but its unstable and can pretty much destroy your phone), dedicated developers, qHD screen, and soooooo much more. You should check us out
Plus, with the recent hboot downgrade ability, our phone is now "unofficially unbrickable" which means I can do ANYTHING to it and I can restore it. This phone, even with a select number of issues, is by far the strongest competitor in specs, deving, performance, etc.

Just a couple points. The galaxy nexus doesn't use a Qualcomm processor. It uses a TI OMAP. If the Exynos is better, it isn't by much.
The GPU is a PowerVR which is probably weaker than the Mali but still decent. It runs Grand Theft Auto III really well, which is the most demanding thing I'd ever do on a phone GPU wise.
The screen on the Nexus is also AMOLED but full 720p (1280×720) instead of the 800X480 on the S2. It is pentile but the resoultion is so much higher it more than makes up for it. This is clearly a winner for the Nexus IMO.
Also the real pros in buying a Nexus:
Faster official updates and completely stock ICS (no touchwiz, sense, motoblur, etc)
Xperia nominated?

i think "Galaxy Nexus" would be better. u will get a long talk time and better uploading speed here. downloading speed is also good here....
I honestly and personally would get the Galaxy Nexus. The SII seems a bit over rated to me. Also the Galaxy Nexus looks a lot better and looks like something that is fun to use

Better in terms of pixel density which results in slightly sharper images. However, the s2 produces better quality images and the contrast and viewing angles are much better

Galaxy Nexus. Screen is really nice and it is smooth right out of the box.
Samsung also sells an extended battery which adds very minimal bulk. It makes the battery cover flush and adds a little bit of weight which feels nice.
Galaxy sII:O
i think galacy nexus is better, however if i were u i would buy an htc one s
So any way it depends what you use your phone for. If you want high resilousion pics then go with the s2 cause it has the 8mp camera compared to the 5mp camera for the nexus. So if you put the s2's photos on a big screen it will look better than the nexus's photos on the same big screen, but if you look at the nexus's photos on the phone screen it will look better than the s2's photos on the phone screen because the nexus has a higher resliousion screen.
So if you are gona put your photos onto a computer then go with the s2 but if you are gona just look at them on you phone then go with the nexus. The specs of the two phones are the same a think is 1.2 ghz dule core prossor and 202 gpu.
It should be fast enough for daily tasks and gameing alike.

My vote is on the Nexus
However if you have that kind of cash why not consider something newer in the market?
I would definately wait for the s3! the official release is this thursday, so it's sooooo close!
there is no official picture but there are some leaked pictures based photos, check out the site of sammobile . com, there are some pics! (I can't post links..)
it supports better specs than s2 or nexus.
If you don't like this and can't wait for 2 days, I would say galaxy s2 because it has such an overwhelming development section with soo many ROMs etcetera.
GL
You should wait just a couple of days..
For sure the one currently with the most up to date software without having to root it and install one of the custom ROMs here would be the Galaxy Nexus. Although it won't be the best device in a couple of days. I suggest you to wait just at least a couple of day before choosing if your one top notch up to date kind of guy since the Galaxy SIII should be announced on May 3rd by Samsung. Also, the HTC One series are getting through many carriers these day until the end of may. The One X is definitively a much better device currently even if it's not available everywhere. Anyhow, if you want it at the end of the day, I would go with the Galaxy Nexus, if you can wait just a couple of days, I would be curious to compare it with the incoming One X or the SIII!
If your into custom rooms, definitely go for the s2 as there is more going on in the development section

[Q] Nexus or S2 - which is smoother

As this is my first post on this forum I would like to say kindly HELLO to EVERYONE.
I have a big problem in choosing my next smartphone. Currently I'm using Samsung Galaxy S+ (i9001). I tested almost every rom on it, and I'm not satisfied with it's speed...I mean it's laggy and apps open too much time.
So I want to buy either Nexus or S2 but I can't really choose. Like I said the most important thing for me is the smoothness and quick opening aps (calls, sms and so on). I don't play games so I won't benefit from better GPU in S2. I have read many comparisons and ones say that Nexus is smoother than S2 because it's pure AOSP, and other say that slower CPU+GPU in Nexus with HD screen makes it a slower device. Will be S2 really smoother than Nexus when I will put an AOSP rom in it ?
It would be great if someone had both devices and compared them. Comparisons on YT tell me nothing cause those people are comparing those devices on too much differing roms like one on ICS and other on JB.
I am aware of other pros and cons of those two devices. What I am asking for is that which one does have smoother feel and faster opening aps. Well eventually the battery life is what interests me too, cause I have read that Nexus has a weak one.
Sorry for my bad english.
S2 has amazing support of community and it can be very smooth. Actually its smoother then stock S3 with good ROM.
It is also thin and light as feather. I really enjoy in its lightness.
Nexus is one of the phones I would only root, and don't touch anything.
They are actually quite different. Sweet misery. Anyway you can't make a mistake with either one.

Galaxy Nexus is smoother, because it is pure AOSP, like people said. Development is good for both devices, but Nexus has better development mainly because its a Nexus device. You also get official updates faster and will probably get more updates than SII. I would pick Nexus over SII any day. The HD screen doesnt make that much of a difference. Besides, I'd rather have an HD screen with > 300 PPI than a screen with only 217 PPI. Both devices are really good, but that resolution on the SII really irks me.
PS. I agree with the person above. I would probably root it but leave it at that. Pure stock on Nexus really is amazing.

I have to go with Nexus too. I love pure stock. TouchWiz is ok... but when it comes down to it you have to deal with some Samsung crap that you don't want.
Your S+ is laggy because it runs on a Snapdragon CPU instead of Exynos. There's nothing "Plus" about it.
As someone who's owned both the S2 and Galaxy Nexus. I'm assuming by S2 you mean an Exynos-based one like the i9100:
Development (ROMs) - Both. Yes, the Galaxy Nexus is a Nexus device, which means a lot of development. But the S2 i9100 also has a TON of support and development.
Speed - Galaxy S2, for both CPU and GPU, by far.
Camera - Galaxy S2, by FAR. It has an amazing camera. The Galaxy Nexus has a terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE camera, and any GN owner will admit it.
Screen - Galaxy Nexus, if you don't mind pentile. It's 720p vs 800 x 480 in the S2. The S2 isn't pentile though. Honestly, I'd give it to the Galaxy Nexus regardless.
Storage - Galaxy S2; 16/32GB storage + Memory card slot. Galaxy Nexus (GSM) is 16GB, which is really like 12GB usable. No memory card slot.
Notification Light - Galaxy Nexus has an RGB notification light. Galaxy S2 doesn't have a light.
Personally, I'd go with the S2 because I game a lot and need room for my music and files. I only have like 250 songs on my card, but I also use my phone as a camera, so storage and camera quality are very important for me. It's much much much faster for anything beyond day-to-day tasks. The screen resolution isn't bad at all considering the screen is 4.3 inches. I had the Sprint Galaxy Nexus, which was 32GB, so it had a redeeming factor, but I felt like it was hard to downgrade performance coming from the Galaxy S2. The Galaxy Nexus is still a great phone that's still very viable (and still a Nexus, so you get continued support from Google), but between these two phones specifically, I'd go for the S2.
Yeah deff agree with the sucky camera. And the lack of a micro SD slot is ridiculous. But I rarely use either. Honestly it depends on the type of user you are.

Yeah I agree on the last bit. That's the most important thing. If you're the occasional phone photographer and you're not playing the latest games, you can survive on the Nexus (btw GTA 3 and Shadowgun run fine on the Nexus).
