Would you trade your TB for a Droid Charge ? - Thunderbolt General

verizon offered to take back my TB after the 14 day period... they sent a return label for the TB its on the way. My 2 biggest complaints are the battery use and the no audio when using the camcorder. I just posted a question if BAMF 1.6 fixes the audio problem... ? I see all the cool stuff in the many Roms for the TB and Im wondering if there is going to be the same type "support" for the droid charge ? What should I do ??????????????????????????????????

Edit: I'm an idiot.

Absolutely not. Motorola lost my money when they started up with locked bootloaders. I will never buy another phone from them. Although htc isn't completely open its still better than worrying about if my next phone will be customizable or not.
Also I know motorola says that they have changed their ways but I still don't trust them. Plus motoblur is useless.

Uhhh....The Droid Charge is made by Samsung, not Motorola.

The new samsung phone is just a rehash of the fascinate with android 2.2, larger screen, better camera and lte. Not that it's a bad phone by any means and I would consider it as good as the thunderbolt, but they could do better. I personally like the touchwiz ui more than htc sense, but there's launchers that are similar to it so it doesnt really matter to me. Either phone is worth having and people will complain about either one just because well, people complain.
The galaxy s2 is far better than the other samsung that's coming out, but it probably wont be on verizon until end of the year or next year. Until then, it'll be GSM only like how the galaxy s1 was.

no... samsung means no updates...

only people who care about updates are the ones that don't root their phones. theres plenty of updates for samsung phones, just not official ones. It's a long standing argument as to whether the slow updates are samsung or verizon, because there's samsung phones that get updates (like the nexus s).

God I cant decide !

Coming from the dev side of Samsung, you better care about updates.
Also, the S only gets fast updates because its controlled by Google.
Also consider the Charge to be 10-20% slower than the Thunderbolt until Voodoo arrives. Except games, woot. It will lag like no tomorrow on write intensive tasks such as installing, syncing, browsing, etc.
Then realize that you will only have ~330mb of ram usable due to ram reserved by the gpu, wifi, audio, and video codecs.
There is a lot to consider here before switching or not choosing the TB.

AntiSamsung
Stay with HTC if you like tinkering with your phone. I had a Vibrant (T-mobile's Samsung Galaxy S), and although it was an awesome phone to look at and show off, it was horrible to use on a daily basis. Constant lag, freezing, gps so bad it rendered the feature useless (I use my phone to navigate for work). The devs made the best of it, but Samsung ruined that phone from the start. I'm sticking with HTC from now on unless I can't help it. My advice would be to do the same.

I would get the Incredible 2 if you're returning the TB

No way. My Thunderbolt and I are still in the honeymoon phase.

I'm not a big fan of Samsung Android phones. Wife had the fascinate, she ended up taking my droid inc after she got sick of it. Also, I have audio when recording video.

I think that would be a downward trade. My personal major issue with the Thunderbolt is battery life, but there are viable options (big battry, extra batteries, charge it, undervolt) to help it.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk

The biggest upside on the ThunderBolt is the fact that we can surf and talk with 3G and 4G whereas the Samsung Charge will only be able to do that on 4G.

I could never root my fascinate properly, because I have a mac. It wouldn't find it. If I could've rooted and they actually sent out updates that could be improved into custom ROM's, I'd still have that sexy ass thing.
Clearly they don't though, seeing as I'm here. (the nexus S is a completely different phone. It's Google's Android Showpiece. THEY control it, not sammy.)

Why would he want to downgrade to a 3G device. I think he wants to stay in a 4G device to lock in 30 dollar data plan.
The screen on the Droid charge is absolutely amazing. Best screen I have seen on mobile. But I got my tbolt and I'm running cyanogen. Support for the tbolt will be greater then the charge.

heck no, the charge is fugly

Would be there no Galaxy S sequential for AT&T?

I mean, we would get Infuse 4G in this spring. However that is not Galaxy S 2, just overclocked Captivate with better screen. Rumors confirmed that new Galaxy S series will come with Orion processor that is duelcore hummingbird. I know android OS and apps are not optimized to duel core so it could be useless battery hog until it get honeycomb.
But most concerning point is Infuse 4G will come with froyo and take time forever to get gingerbread, it is really dealbeaker. Also Infuse 4G will have no international brother like i9000 which is our ROM source.
Should I end up contract to AT&T and move on other carrier?
Given Galaxy S2 is still under tight wrap waiting to be announced at MWC, it is too early to talk about whether or not AT&T will get it.
Officially, Galaxy S2 does not even exit. So how do you know AT&T won't get it.
So far, the only Android OS I saw that mentioned dual-core support is HoneyComb (3.0) which is only for tablet. Gingerbread does not support dual core. So, having a dual core phone right now is quite useless, the other half will just stay unused.
Go to t-mobile and quit samsuck completely. AT&T is terrible with Android support, and Samsuck.....well......they suck. That is unless you want your phone to be a statistic in the Samsuck fragmentation universe.

QF the muther******* T!
there are rumors of the nexus s coming for at&t.
engadget dot com/2011/01/27/nexus-s-coming-in-a-new-atandt-flavor/
and at&t itself has said that this year they'll be bringing a lot of top end android phones (not gimping them to make iphone look superior). a good side-effect of them losing iphone exclusivity.
i'd wait for feb14-17 for the mobile world conference to get a better idea of which phones are coming.
Personally, the Captivate is the last Samsung product I'll buy, and probably the last product I'll buy from A**. The way I was ripped off on this phone by the customer support will survive in my memory for AT LEAST the duration of this contract. I don't care WHAT Samsung comes up with.

I'm with you on that. Samsuck is dead to me. As soon as the Atrix or Optimus 2X hits AT&T I'm ditching my Captivate immediately.
I would like to leave AT&T too, but where I live, they have the best 3G speeds. With HSDPA/HSUPA enabled I get 2Mb down/1.5 Mb up. Verizon here cant touch that. Everybody at work has VZW and they get about 700kb up and down.

A nrw OS does not fix a broken phone. Even with the best OS, the bad phones turn themselves off and the GPS stays flakey. Thats not to mention that you're risking your warantee and the folks that bricked their phones upgrading. I have changed ROMS but for a top of the line smart phone, you shouldn't have to.

Very Good Phone
im far away from ATT so i dont know how its support works. For me the Captivate is the best phone ive ever had. I dont have any complains about it. And is even better with the great roms available here on XDA. iphone 4 lovers hate me when i show them all the things i can do... Sure there probably are better phones... but i dont see a reason to change mine for a while.
This will be my last Samsung as well. Thankfully Andromeda 1.0 makes it a usable phone to get me through this contract.
Yeah, the GPS leaves a lot to be desired. I've managed to finally get a ROM/Kernel/Modem combination that is stable, and can keep a GPS lock.
The only other Samsung phone I had prior to this was the WinMo Blackjack. Back then I didn't know enough about smartphones to be aware that it was horrible.
But, hey, I got my Captivate for free. Christmas present from my girlfriend, and she only paid $70 for the phone, screen protector, and 16 gig microSD card. So, I can't complain too much.
I am grateful to the Captivate, though. Without it, I wouldn't have learned about Android, and what true customization is all about.

Honestly not hating on you dude, but you should buy an IPhone. If you want something that works out of the box and you don't have to mess with that's the way to go. EVERY Android handset out there requires tweaking to some degree or another. And every other manufacturer has their own issues.
Samsung has a bit of a track record of not updating and now the GPS issues. But Motorola gets you a locked boot loader. LG currently doesn't have a real competitor in the US yet. HTC just took the EVO and rebadged it for Verizon and AT&T, not to mention the Desire HD for the rest of the world.
I'm not overly thrilled with the Captivate. It's a great phone, but the lack of support from Samsung (cmon, at&t may have it's faults but they have little to do with the lack of an update or support, they just sell phones, my opinion of course.) The biggest issue for me is GPS. I do have a standalone unit for trips and such but I really like having a phone that can get me from A to B easily. I don't carry my GPS everywhere, I do carry my phone.
Would I buy another Samsung Device?? Maybe. I'd certainly wait a few weeks after it was released to see what the main issues are. As far as software, I don't care. I flash ROM's more than I change my...... Well you get my point.
if att gets the galaxy 2? it will hit in the fall of course, they will milk the atrix ,infuse and the htc dealio for all they are worth. sad reaalllymost likely increase data charges for no reason than renaming their 3g network....sounds like the goverment at work here, we need bigger goverment to counteract this maddddnesss

Gotta agree with you there. When I switched from my iPhone to the Cappy, I'll admit I went through some withdrawal basically because a comparable cydia/rock alternative wasn't readily available (I really missed the streaming video and content apps...the ones that worked anyway :/ ). The work the devs are doing within the XDA community breathed new life and excitement into my cappy. I think in time, the overall developement scene for Android will rival and (hopefully) surpass what the iPhone community has accomplished.

Agreed. Before I got my Captivate, I was expecting the same Cydia/Installer combo to show up a couple minutes after I got it.
Honestly, Market serves as an undermined Cydia, but iPhone does have the better dev base by a landslide and that's why it's more popular, at least for devs and the like.
If Captivate had the dev base iPhone does, I wouldn't need anything else. Then again, I don't think anyone else would, either.

[Q] Should I buy a TB out of contract?

I am really really sick of this Droid 2 that VZW replaced my Droid with. I'm sick of Moto services invading my phone and slowing it down. There's no true ASOP build. This phone sucks balls.
I was set on buying an Incredible 2 OoC b/c it was cheap at $440 and saving my upgrade till later, but where I'm moving to next week already has LTE towers.
Do I really want to wait 2 months using this laggy trash? And possibly end up getting a TB anyway because the other phones coming out suck.
Or do I want to get a TB and save my upgrade till later in the Q4 2011/Q1 2012 when NFC Ice Cream Sandwich phones come out.
Don't want a Charge, poor build material choices.
Don't want a Revolution. Bing...
Does it really matter? Not really... You just root and you can put whatever you want and however you want.
Motorola tends to lock their bootloaders and make it hard to do what you want.
Samsung stated that they'll never lock it that way(Not in those words, but given the sense that they will leave it open)
HTC has been locking down their devices, but not as tough as Motorola does.
So basically pick a device with the hardware you want, and make sure it's root and you can install custom roms/kernels.
The T-Bolt is a great phone, and it has excellent community support. I have absolutely no complaints about my phone (aside from the battery life).
That being said, the Galaxy S II that's coming out looks sexy as hell. It might be worth the wait to hold out for that. Honestly, it's totally up to you.
There was talk about tiered 4G plans, which is what made me opt for the early upgrade to the T-Bolt (hoping to be grandfathered in to unlimited 4G). I haven't heard much on that front, but it's still a possibility.
wait a few months
from everything i've ever read about samsung phones, their software support is absolutely horrible. slow updates, faulty gps etc. i've heard a ton of people complain about the issue, and it seems to be the case with all their phones... never had one, but that's the impression i get.
the thunderbolt is a decent phone, but all it really has over the droid x is 4g. the t-bolt screen might be a little better, but not much. in day to day use it's not faster, the battery isn't even close and the build quality of the DX is equal or better. if i were you i would pick up a DX on craigslist for $175 and save your upgrade for a few months. The dx has even more dev support than the T-bolt and it's the best phone I ever had.
bottom line is, if you really want 4g speeds right now, really really bad, then get the thunderbolt. if you can do without that for awhile i think you will be really happy with a DX, especially after using the Droid 2, and you'll spend less than half the money.
the above is just my .02.
Show me a HTC or Motorola phone with latest software on it
Not you fat Jesus
I bought mine off contract and am very happy I did it. Yes there are a few issues, but nothing a little root cant fix.
Though waiting a few months for a better phone won't hurt, the TB is a great choice.

I just have to say that this cracks me up every time I see you post it.
Once you get a taste of 4G, you will never want a phone that is 3G only. So if you are moving to 4G area and don't want to pay full retail, I suggest you get a used Tbolt from craigslist and use it until something comes along that you like better, then sell the Tbolt
i love my TB, i have it rooted with das bamf NTE 1.6.3 and its about the coolest thing since MP3s.. as with others, the battery life on this thing is fkin AWFUL!! i have the extended battery and i still dont feel like its enough, however i use my phone probably more than i should or more than others. either way the LTE network is retarded fast and i'd never want 3g.
First off I just want to say I owned a droid 2 and it wasn't that bad. I jumped to the thunderbolt just to lock in the 4g rate. The bigger screen is a nice plus but other than that is the same thing. I wasn't overly impressed as other owners of the droid x and 2 have stated is not that big of a jump.
Before I end let me just say other than software wise android phones are exactly where I want them. I don't need a dual core chip in my phone and 4g is. good enough for anything I would ever want to do with my phone. I'm sure most of you will disagree but that's just how I feel. Flame away!

I picked up a TB on craigslist for $350. The custom roms still seem a bit premature, however they should evolve over time. Nonetheless it's an amazing phone. If you have a desk job or spend a lot of time in your car, the battery life is not much of an issue. Just stay plugged in.
Got my TB off Craigslist for a fascinate trade plus 150$. I love it so far.. 4g is amazing..once you.have it you won't want to go back.
Roms are not bad. I'm waiting for a complete cm7 or sense 3.0 rom but other than that das bamf runs fantastic.
If you have the cash and want a great phone with a growing dev community, go for it.

Thank you for all the input.
It's funny the other 2 forums told me I'm a moron and this one says Buy a TB!!!
I use over 2GB of data a month so the 4G unlimited (Hopefully grandfathered for life) makes it very tempting since my upgrade isn't till mid July which is around the time the rumors of tiered data plans landing. I'm also not to optimistic about an actual new phone coming out then. Maybe the SGSII but I really hate the fact that it doesnt have a search button. It's a damn Google phone and I use the search button all the time, for GOOGLE, not Bing!
I didn't even think about craigslist. That might be a good option.
As for a cheap DX. No way. It basically is a D2 minus the keyboard. I like the keyboard, I can sacrifice it for a 4G newish phone but not for an X. and I hate the Blur invasion, and locked bootloader. My D2 has been running custom roms. They're just too laggy and buggy still. Fab, Kejar, and Rummy are awesome, but they all had DXs and the D2 ports were just not good. Most of it I blame on Blur still having to be in there. I've been running GB stock blur and custom and for the first time since my D1 ADW launcher gets kicked out of memory and has to reload when I hit home.... I hate it.

[Q] How long will the Infuse 4G hold up?

How long do you guys think the Infuse 4G will last in the Market of ever improving phones? Will it last the next few years, say until an upgrade is eligible? Or will it simply fall apart compared to upcoming phones in the next few years? Personally, I love my Infuse, and I think it'll last at least a year to three in terms of specs and software. Please, discuss.
Ok, this is one thing you need to learn when it comes to new phones / laptops/ technology in general. In a year, IT WILL BE OUTDATED. I got the Samsung Captivate and could not imagine a better phone ---besides it's constant GPS issues and until the charging port broke on it...but that was partly my fault. I got this phone and it is great as well--even better than the Captivate. At the time, I did not think that was possible.
The thing you want to do is buy a quality product for the time. The Infuse is one of those things. If you take good care of it, it will last you. I fell off of my bike a few weeks back going downhill. I was pretty banged up. My Infuse, even though it was in a case, got pretty banged up--- cosmetically around those silver edges. It is fully functioning otherwise. It is a solid product. It will last you a long time if you don't abuse it.
For example -- -I still have the Samsung Blackjack 2 as my backup phone and I use it when my "newer and better" phones give me problems. I've had it for forever. It is still a good phone despite being years old. You have a decent phone now--- we all do, as far as the Infuse is concerned. I haven't heard too many complaints, but only time can tell if that will change. Treat it well and it will remain good to you.
The sg2 looks identical to the infuse(slightly smaller on at&t) , except with a better resolution and much better cpu, so I think the infuse will be obsolete when the sg2 hits the states. Nevertheless, I love my infuse and I think it's one of the best phones out right now.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
I'm just asking if you guys think it'll last the above-average Android user the next few years. I know it's already outdated. It was probably outdated before it even came out.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
depends on the user. there isnt much the phone can't do but it depends on samsung releasing updates and on the community to put out quality mods. to be honest with a good rom a droid could still be a viable phone. my friend has a nexus1 and loves it. i actually kinda envy it, i love the screen and media capabilities on samsung phones but as a phone the nexus is perfect and there is no reason it should need to be anything more.
i have a phone lust though. i will likely get the sgsiii or whatever comes after the sgsii long before my contract is up.
The Infuse right now is still the absolute best phone on AT&T.
And will stay that way till the SGS 2 comes out....

Sgs2 and infuse have the same resolution. 480x800 wvga.
I was looking at the specs of Galaxy II and the one thing I won't switch my infuse for is battery. It has 1600mA while Infuse has 1750mA. So when it comes to dual CPU, it should drain battery down pretty bad. I mean why will you ever even use that power on the phone unless you compute rocket science data using it. 4G also has a big mouth for drinking the juice out of your phone.
I'm not trying to say it is horible, it just would be a major concern if I'm a heavy data user.

The phone is already outdated when you bought it, but that is the rule with all tech lol. Will it last 5 years. If you take care of it sure but will it still be getting upgrades. Most likely not sense we are seeing higher and higher system requirements to run the newer updates.
It is confirmed the nexus S will get the ics update, hardware wise there's no reason the infused couldn't handle the update also. It's up to att and Sammy.

I am not saying it couldnt handle it, just saying that after the first OS update I would not look for any others. IF it gets 1 more after that then it will be lucky. As for the Nexus S, I had great hopes for it but then I found the Nexus S was by samsung and thought ok ill wait for the next and not the new prime may be a samsung as well so looks like ill wait till the next nexus is an HTC. But if it is a samsung or HTC as long as the phone is bought through ATT dont expect to get the same number of updates as the Euro versions of the same phone. They always will get more updates then its US counter parts. As always been the case and always will be.
This is why the nexus line is a safe bet typically, as it is 'googles' phone, the updates are fast and frequent. The S is a Sammy, but no need to wait on them making the updates play nice with tw .

No. I'm done with HTC, and since I've been using an iPhone 5 and my GS3, I've been realizing 4.8" is about my max. I like being able to use the iPhone one-handed. I can't do that with my GS3, much less something bigger.
Ill never get another htc device. After the poor service with the thunderbolt (issues at launch, lack of updates, broken promises on updates, etc) i won't be using there phones anymore. And besides with the LG nexus coming out that could be my next phone

You know what i do
Every morning, i check for Cnn updates, rom updates and the release date for this phone.
I have been watching it like a hawk.
I miss my rezound signal soo much, the only reason why i am hanging on to this pos gs3 is that i have some value to sell so i can put it in this phone .
HTC signal is the most reliable i have ever had.
Yeah their updates suck , they lock their boot loaders, but at least i can get a signal when i need it , and find my way with navi, and not pull over to the side of the road bec i keep losing gps lock with the gs3
I miss HTC, ppl warned me against the gs3 signal, but i behaved like a teenager, wanting the newest thing.

Alot of the signal issues you descibe might be your area. Ill admit i was burned on the gnexus with bad signal but my gs3 is great. Htcs usually have bad battery but the dlx will ship with a 2500mah. IF i buy ill wait until soff comes. Got burned on the rezound.

Lawl... my signal is good. Not quite as good as wife's iPhone 5. GPS? Its the most accurate GPS I have ever had. Sounds like you have a malfunctioning device or you live in the middle of a nuclear testing facility.

na ill pass on a device with no removable battery & storage.
If it has sense, which it will, equals a non-purchase for me. I had the Rezound and almost pulled my hair out at how slow sense made that phone feel. I know this is a newer version of sense, but it's still slow.
That coupled with the horrible HTC support is making me steer clear of this one.

Meh. Im not a fan. Sure the specs are good, display should be nice, and its gonna be all shiny and new, but my GSIII already does all I need it to do (and more). With all the development we have, and future development we are going to have, I can see this phone easily lasting a year and a half, maybe more. Hell, I rocked my OG Droid from launch til my GSIII showed up at my house. In my opinion, the DLX doesn't have enough "oomph" in it to justify going through the hassle of selling it, and then shelling out another two hundred to buy it off contract.

I'm going to be tempted but I'll hold on to the siii until I'm eligible for an upgrade.
I do love the idea of the 1080p screen and the HTC superlcd2 screens are highly regarded anyways. I don't really need the quad core for anything right now.
I've been pretty happy with the reception on my siii. It's seems to be at least as good as my family's iPhone 5s.

Nah, non removable battery and storage.. Locked boot loaders.. Molasses sense, lack of support. Imma pass on the device. Looks nice though.

Anyone else buy the G2X because it was so close to Vanilla Android?

One of the reasons I went with this phone roughly 22 months ago was that it was expected to get updates to Android very quickly, since it didn't have Sense or some other heavy overlay.
Funny, huh? Since it ended up one of the WORST phones I could have picked for any real updates. Ahh, the irony.
Anyone else do the same thing? I honestly can't wait to chuck this thing, and now that it's down to $50 per line to get out of my contract 2 months early, I'm very tempted to do so and pick up a Droid DNA on Verizon or some other powerhouse.
It's not worth getting any android phone that isn't Nexus or has a huge HUGE base (galaxy s3). I wouldn't trust the DROID DNA, honestly. Verizon can really suck with updates, too.
Don't make the same mistake again.

You should wait for May at least to see what Google rolls out, whether it is the moto X phone or something else. Also Id be surprised why you would do verizon and agree to pay prob at least $30 more per month when you can stick with Tmo or go simple talk with an unlocked GSM phone.
I got his phone for two reasons.
1. Because it was vanilla.
2. As soon as I heard nvidia was making tegra I checked everyday for news on the it's release.
Yes I waited a long ass time and nvidia didnt put out a tegra till they came out with tegra 2.
But I'm still happy with this phone.
Go to any phone thread, they all say the same thing.
"worst phone ever"
"worst company ever"
People are never happy.
This phone competes with phones coming out today with a proper stable ROM and I think that is great.
No it doesn't compete with phones coming out today. Don't try to ignore the truth.

Overclocked to 1.55 ghz with the supercharger on aggressive, it performs well. I can do anything any new phone can do! (except take good pictures, camera became ****)
I also remember watching a promo video by LG on Tmo website claiming "pure vanilla Android experience." That along with the G2x name - hinting at G1 roots- and other factors (dual core, Tegra, etc.) falsely presumed timely updates or at least easy ROM updating. I came from the pure vanilla original Droid. I wanted the same experience. Boy did I make the same huge ironic mistake. Trouble is, this is the phone I switched my wife off her iPhone for. Disappointing at best.
True, there are some great devs who have made this phone passable. Unfortunately, TEGRA/nvidia had their hands cuffed and LG won't supply them with a key. Tmo is an enabler in the whole debacle.
Besides, even though I always will root my phone, one shouldn't have to for reliable functionality.
I think the only Android phone I will ever buy is a Nexus. Wait,I can't even buy an effing Nexus! LG should allow special Nexus purchasing concessions for all g2x owners. It might help me get rid of this nasty taste in my mouth
Now this phone is to old and too forgotten to have any hope. If you love this phone, great. But, my etudes phone is still completely stock. If you haven't driven a completely stock g2x lately. Try it. It is a pathetic sluggish joke that might be funny if it didn't freeze up during the performance all day long.

You forgot to note that its horrible battery life as well with those mods.

Yes, the almost vanilla Android was a major reason I got a G2x. Like others, I assumed that meant quick updates. And while I agree that it has very solid hardware that should perform better today than it would with old software, it's still nothing like the Note 2 I got to replace it.
As other have mentioned, a big failure with the phone, other than updates, is the camera. I have small kids, and the 2 second lag makes the camera next to useless. Even if the kids hold still long enough, the camera quality isn't very good.
Overall, I was happy with the phone for most of the 18 months I had it. If it had a better camera and got reasonable updates, I probably would have waited until my contract was up (although t-mo was great about upgrading me early, to my surprise).

My words exactly. It was my first android and I did enjoy it, very briefly. Until the first freeze and random reboot. Of course that happened while I still could have returned the damn korean crap but I figured tmo and lg said they'll fix it right away, and they couldn't possibly abandon their customers right?!
Anyway. Finally dumped that piece of shmit and got a gs3. Can't be happier with this device, xda and t-mobile truly unlim h+

Ditto here. This was my first foray into the smart phone world (had a feature phone previously) and the big reason I got it was because of the "pure vanilla Android experience" they were touting about it. I expected frequent updates, and a phone I'd be using for years.
Now, I'm torn. I actually still love my phone, but the lack of any *stock* update is disappointing. There are lots of roms/mods out there, but none of them are perfect, and I'm not hard core enough to try out different ones.
Actually, if I could just have a GPS that worked 95% of the time I'd be pretty happy. I've tried so many different tweaks and still can't get it to work fast and consistently.
And as much as I'd love to upgrade and get a Nexus 4 (which I'm close to being eligible for) the lack of a removable battery and an SD slot are VERY big downers.

If it couldn't keep up then you wouldn't still be seeing kernels and ROMs being made and updated for this phone.
LG may have never gave the phone the support it deserved but this site sure has and I thank them for that.
Actually support of g2x is dying. Many great devs have moved on to better and newer phones.
LG never again for me! That's why I was so disappointed when goggles announced nexus 4 by lg...
Verizon SUCKS with updates, and they tried their damndest to keep certain apps widgets and irons of my new Note 2. Thankfully, that's why XDA exists. The bootloader took awhile to get unlocked, but we finally have some kernel/rom options and development from other carriers is making its way to our forums. God stuff.

Its more nvidias fault then lg's. Nvidia is closed source so ofc there not gonna try and help LG out by giving them the drivers they needed for hw acceleration. If anything Google choosing LG for the nexus 4 boosted LG as a company as they actually release updates every other day practically, it is a nexus phone.. Just look at how well the LG nexus 4 has sold for proof. Nvidia and there closed source tegra need to stay off android IMO as they only hurt and delay android devices getting updated.
