Hi all,
I have been seeing a lot of new 2.1 android ROMs...
I was wondering if anyone has tried to get Google Navigation yet? if so.. How does it work?
thanks
works fine... /shrug
I have been using it on Fresh 2.0b and on Darchdroid V1 the last several days and it has worked fine. It has lost satellites a couple of times but that seems to be a problem across the Droids also.
ok.. thanks guys..
i am planning to try these new 2.1 ROMs this weekend.
Hope all the bugs are ironed out by then
So I have been rooting my phones for a long time, flashing dozens of roms, kernels, etc, but never tried CM7..I have done some research but still not totally sure on whether to try it or not, I figured I could run both CM7 and theory through backups and just flash one or the other on different days...CM7 seems to be the most popular download...should I give it a try? Can I run LPP on it?
Been running CM on my original Droid since it was available and now running it on my Tbolt so I may be biased but YES you should give it a try. Only you can decide what ROM works best for you. CM is highly customizable with not a lot of "eye candy" out of the box. It works and works well for me.
Flash it, you won't be disappointed. LPP works.

LP+ works better than ADW Launcher on CM7, and CM7 COMES WITH ADW Launcher.
I haven't tried theory, so I can't compare, but I've been running cm7 for a couple weeks and have been very happy with it.

I've also been using CM since my OG Droid so I have a bias as well. I've tested the bamf roms too. CM does not have all the glitz and glamor but its super functional and fast. Its not without some bugs but nothing that would make you not not want to try it out. The last update kicks ass. In my personal experience don't use the purging of assets option. I'm also going to test out the latest MR2 radio as I'm am currently running the previously leaked 2.5.

I just recently took the cm7 plunge after running almost every sense rom out there. I will not be returning to sense. Cm7 is the smoothest I've tried and the ability to switch themes every other day keeps the flash junkie in me happy as well. Give it a shot man. I think you'll be pleased.

Ive also had CM7 since my OG but actually my OG didn't really like CM some phones just don't like certain roms. Just flash it, its probably the most stable and you will get the best battery life out of any rom available for the Tbolt
I'm running CM7 w/the new OTA 2 radio.
Just make sure you d/l the correct version of CM7 for whichever radio you are using.
I haven't had any issues w/GPS - the only problem I have is w/my beautiful weather widget not even coming close to telling me where I am, lol. Weather bug (free) is working though, when I refresh it finds me.
I came off of Bamf stripped 1.8 w/the original radio and did things in this order:
Wiped data & dalvik 3x each.
Flashed the ROM (did NOT reboot)
Flashed the GApps (then I rebooted - of course had no service but I wanted to make sure the ROM was working)
then I flashed the 2.5 radio AFTER the ROM.
That radio worked fine for me, but I wanted the OTA version so I did that a couple days later.
I DID NOT use ROM manager, I did it all via recovery/boot menu.
Has anybody tried out this alpha release yet ? If so does it run good ? Is it smooth ? Just curious. I was gonna give it a try just wanted some feedback before I do.
I have been using the CM9 builds for a while. If you don't need the camera or other things that are known as not working, it's quite solid.
Cool i'll give it a try, don't care about the camera. Are the OC tables working now ?
I don't overclock mine, so I haven't tested that. Sorry.
well in the last version the OC tables didn't work, so i was just curious about that, I like my phone to hall butt lol.
As far as I know oc doesnt work.

OK, I need to ask - which version of CM9 are you using DroidX? I'm thinking about getting a triumph for my wife (she want's and android smart phone over her "dumb" nokia)... I know that thing has got to be upgradable to ICS, but wasn't sure which build you could use...
So I saw this thread and I was trying to modify my build.prop to run 9 mm HD on my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840707
Did everything as said in the thread but my phone wont boot up after changing the build.prop. I have to restore the backup everytime. I am on Bean's ROM (build 10) with Imoseyon's lean kernel -0.4.
Did anyone make it work on their phones? Can someone advise as to how go about doing it. Also, for the folks who actively use HDMI with MHL, which ROM/Kernel combination has worked for you best?
I have seen various threads where people have reported a blink issue with HDMI out. I myself have to. Sometimes it works and sometimes if annoyingly blinks and goes dark.
Thanks

I use HDMI everyday & it works perfectly with the setup in my sig.
My setup is nothing flashy, but it is the only ROM/kernel etc. I have used where everything (HDMI out, NFL Mobile etc.etc.etc.) works perfectly...
I have flashed hundreds of ROMs over the years (my first flash was in an Apache 6700) but this is the first phone I have ever owned where I am 100% happy with a simply rooted & totally debloated stock ROM.
Thanks

LOL balance is important in a marriage, I found that out years ago.....
I think I have flashed every G3 ROM available but in every single one at least one thing didn't work that was important to me.
I lost track of how many nandroid restores I have done weeks ago. I'm done messing with it for now, every single thing works perfectly -it is fast as hell & the battery life is just fine.(I LOVE this phone)
Do u guys have a way to get NFL Mobile working thru HDMI also?

Just to be clear, you do not have NFL mobile working with HDMI out? I got excited when you mentioned in your first post that you did have NFL mobile work. So hoping someone comes up with a workaround like they have on most motorolas.
Hello, I finally got my wife to agree to let me root and put a custom rom on her infuse, currently running froyo. I just rooted it last night and was looking around for some stable ICS roms. I found lots of discussions about which roms were best but had a somewhat more difficult time finding the links to said roms. And stability is a must here as she knows absolutely nothing about messing around with phones. Also GPS and Bluetooth are absolute musts as well. She finally agreed to let me do this after seeing galaxy s2 running CM9. So I was kinda leaning towards a cm9 rom, a lot of the ones I saw though listed Bluetooth problems so I was wondering whose cm9 would be best for what I'm looking for here. That being said I am open to all stable ICS roms, not just tunnel visioned on cm9. So, if you all give me some good stable ICS rom, and their links, I would be very grateful. Thanks!

Have a look at these. They should have everything you are looking for.

Just my 2 cents worth.......been d/l ROMs since GB........the JB ROMs that are out now are more stable than ICS.
Edit: biggest problem is, most of the Devs have moved on to JB.
ICS and jb both have camera recording problems... so jwep that in mind, jb has a slow but working GPS

In addition to the above comments. I would also caution you about future wife beatings and crazy ass tandrums if your giving a rooted phone to her. I know your asking about ICS, and some are suggesting Jellybean, however the best thing you can do for her is to put a rooted Gingerbread ROM like the following and just yank out whatever junk you don't want and keep it running smoother then stock!:
- Infused 2.2.3 (Extremely stable ROM that i used as my daily driver without incident for almost a year! Disadvantage is that it is no longer being developed. But really, it doesn't need anything else done to it.. absolutely everything just works!)
- Aeon (This is one of the newer Gingerbread ROM's that is still being updated and mantained. Also a very stable ROM where everything just works. The downside in my opinion is the Themeinig that is build into the ROM. Great for most, but not for everyone.)
Both of the above are excellent choices for a wife! And they are both built off of stock firmware so everything works.
Believe me, i would normally never reccomend someone go back to Gingerbread, but as she is coming from Froyo she will notice a big improvement. Also, from one man to the next. I can tell you, my bigest mistake was replacing my wifes crack berry with my older rooted X10. It was great for me, but for her she just wants things to work. The second something doesn't work, she turns into the hulk! I absolutely love to tinker and i'm never done messing with my phone, but don't assume your wife will appreciate the challenges as much as you would! I ended up just putting it back to bone stock and gave it to her with the understanding that she was not to complain to me anymore! LOL
Oh one last thing.. the saying really is true.. "A happy Wife is a happy Life!" LOL
