When I use Rom Manager to backup my current rom it restarts the phone as usual, then goes to a black screen instead of showing the backup progress. I can't see anything that is going on, however if i wait it will restart as normal and it seems that a backup has been made. Has this happened to anyone? I'm a little worried to use this backup. Thanks any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: I think it may be a problem with the rom as opposed to clockwork mod, because when I try to reboot into recovery it does the same thing (black screen).
[SOLVED] It turned out being the Trinity kernel I was using (Trinity1.44 - V2 - cm7 - w/ VS7 + BLN - 2.6.35.12 - BFS400), when I installed Trinity-UV-Scharf11-cm7-401 the problem went away.

First off, I'll say that I've already flashed my nandroid and my phone is working. I'm really just curious if anyone knows how this happened.
Basically, SW managed to soft brick my phone.
I'm on CM7 #11 w/ Netarchy 1.2.7 CFS, using the matted blue theme. I installed the Al Jazeera news application and was watching live video when the video began stuttering and the phone froze. After about 10 seconds, the phone automatically started rebooting, but was unable to boot. After showing the google logo, the screen went black and the capacitive buttons lit up. The phone was unresponsive and I had to take out the battery to reboot the phone.
I was able to reboot into recovery and I flashed a CM7 backup but was still unable to boot. I got the same issue as before.
Flashing my stock nandroid (2.3.3) recovered my phone.
I'm just curious if anyone knows how software can soft brick a phone.
Ideas?
I recently installed this ROM and I thought it was working fine. I did a restart of the device and now I seem stuck at a android screen that it doesn't see to be going pass. The android word just display as a light goes across the screen and then it seems to cycle again.
I can't seem to boot into recovery either to put restore the back up I made, because when I get to the white fast boot screen the selection won't scroll down to recovery when I hit the down volume button. It just stays there and then tries to install a patch for a radio I believe.
Any thoughts on why this is stuck at the android word screen or how I can get back to my back up and restore that. Thanks

Try removing your sd card and then vol down and power. Then once you're past fastboot white page pop it back in in time for recovery, and do your thing. Try clearing caches first. If not then restore a backup.

Yup I think I seen that in another forum to a similar type problem, I removed the SD card and was able to get back into clockwork recovery. I wipes all data/settings, cache partition and then loaded the rom again.
First thing I did was do a reboot so. So far it didn't get stuck and booted back up. Will do another reboot later tonight to see if it holds. Thanks for the tip
I'd reccomenf going to the dhd forum and getting the latest version (new one coming out soon)

Hi guys,
Really sorry to ask about this but tearing my hair out!
I have a P6200 UK model. I installed CWM v6.0.1.0 and it worked fine. The intention was to install Galaxy ROM HD (build #06), so I downloaded it, put it on my SD card, and installed from CWM recovery. The install got stuck on "Flashing boot" - so after around 15 mins I reset it.
It went into a boot loop on the initial Samsung logo. Luckily I'd previously re-flashed stock HC with Odin (to cure a dead Wifi problem caused by, I think, an errant install of Busybox) so I did this again, rebooted, and the system came up, text started scrolling up the screen, followed by a red error message (see picture) and a reboot. I was then once again stuck on the initial Samsung Tab 7.0 Plus log. I repeated the process and it didn't even get past the Samsung logo.
So I thought I'd try the newly released ICS Rom (GT-P6200_ATO_P6200XXLQ1_P6200OXALQ1) - this seemed to install OK, then half booted, did some text type installation stuff with the blue Android, then rebooted again, finally getting stuck on the Samsung logo with blue pulsating behind it. It never gets any further than that.
I tried flashing HC back - same result as earlier. I can also reflash CWM and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It seems I've run out of options.
So - question is - where (if anywhere!) can I go from here?
Help greatly appreciated, many thanks!
have you tried a system wipe in cwm? if not do a system wipe and reflash HC using odin.. same thing happen to me 2 days ago.. I think something is up with HD rom
Hi,
I unlocked original htc bootloader from htcdev and it went through fine without any issues (I didn't root). Later i downloaded trickdroid v3.0 & tweak pkgs from http://trickdroid.org/category/desire-hd/ and followed the instructions listed there. In the first attempt i installed rom, but without rebooting into new rom i applied tweak as well and then rebooted. I just got white screen with htc logo and it remained there for quite some time. Sensing i might have done something wrong i booted into recovery, wiped data/cache, reinstalled rom again and rebooted (without applying the tweak pkg). However even in this case all i see is white screen with logo and it's been like this for more than 20 mins.
My question therefore is - is this normal for it to be in this mode for such a long time, how long it usually takes to finish?
My concern - did i brick my phone and is there any way i can flash another rom that might work or go back to stock to be on the safe side.
Any help/advice highly appreciated. Hoping someone can help me out.
Thanks in advance.
After installing blisspop (or I don't really remember), I realized that WiFi wasn't working and neither was bluetooth so I decided to flash Extended Stock Kernel kernel, first with flashing the boot, then flashing the zip from recovery mode and even after that, the result was the same. It didn't work. Later on I went to the Phantom kernel's page and flashed that without checking that the kernel was meant for 4.4 and it bricked my device. Now, whenever the phone starts, it shows the Phantom kernel boot at start with its logo without any led light appearing below and due to that I'm unable to go into either flashmode or fastboot. It keeps restarting the Phantom boot at start and doesn't go any further. Please help!
EDIT: A more detailed version that I wrote a few months ago to the kernel's developer.

Previously I had my Xperia L reset on stock ftp then flashed the Extended Stock Kernel on it. Since the wifi wasn't working, I tried to download R17 and flashed it through CWM and now the phone keeps restarting on the Phantom Logo. It shows the logo, waits for about 10 seconds then restarts and the same keeps repeating. I saw it was for Kitkat but then too I insisted on installing. I can't access neither bootloader nor recovery mode. The light which comes when the Phantom Logo pops doesn't appear either. Can you help me please? Anything would be greatly appreciated. I know I did a stupid thing but I really don't want to give up on this device.
