Here's a quick write up on how it was achieved.
Transitioning Wallpaper was made using this:
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture
I created a folder for each "hub" containing appropriate wallpapers (ex. music, games, home etc.) and used the app to point individual screens to individual folders. I've changed the settings to rotate the wallpapers every 5 seconds and change upon double tap.
The "quick view" section on my "Home Hub" was achieved using minimalistic text and just expanded the dark background, overlapping the "weather" widget (beautiful widget>weather forecast)
Widgets used were from:
Pulse
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alphonso.pulse
Music
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tbig.playerpro&feature=search_result
Despite all these running on my nook, everything else is smooth and no noticeable impact on battery life (OC to 1.1 ghz).Anything else i missed please let me know.

Just saw the video. And wow. This is just brilliant. Reminds me of the LauncherPro wallpaper tab screens
Could you share some more info about the launcher and layout etc?
Sent from inside a whale.

sure. I'm using ADW EX with a 10x10 grid. I turned off all transitions as they seem to lag the screen a tiny bit. Those black bars were created using minimalistic text background and stretched to overlap the icons/widget.

So it could (in theory) work with normal ADW, but mod the backup file for 10x10
Using ADW EX for my honeycomb layout, and this would be a nice change. Ill try it out asap and post screens
And is it possibly for you to post your wallpapers you used? Just to get the size right and have a base to work from
Sent from inside a whale.

sure it can. however ive heard it does cause problems.
check this thread out for more info and i'll upload some walls later when i get the time

NVM figured it out : )

That looks absolutely brilliant...
I think I've found my weekend project for the Tab

Thought I'd post my results so far
I like the Portal 2 screen, glad the Darkedge theme comes in both portal colours still trying to find icons which suit each screen, but I'm happy so far.
Thanks again.

I don't understand how you expanded the dark background of on widget over another. I try and I just get the red shaded area showing me I can't do it. Please explain?

What launcher are you using? Maybe it doesn't allow you to overlap over other widgets
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App

VTLauncher its based off of ADW.
Update: after installing ADW EX there is a setting that enables widget overlap. Hopefully that helps others as well.

any chance of sharing the wallpapers used? thanks ^^

Hi All Hubs Fans,
I'm newbie in Android, going to get galaxy tab plus in 3 day later but i still deciding shall i go for 7.0", 8.9" or 10.1" size? My country "Asia" Galaxy tab 7.0" plus came with phone call function and i prefer 7.0" instead of other because of the phone call function. But problem is did those Hubs software support 7.0" and i wonder how it look like seem the screen are smaller. I try search Google, Xda and Youtube, no single clue on it.
If anyone did apply Hubs over Galaxy Tab 7 plus, please share your screenshot and advise here.
Thanks in advance
Osward

My first atempt and "Hubs"
I really liked this concept so I decided to give it a try myself, this is what I got so far:
Also by sliding down on the dockbar you get an option to choose a screen to jump to:
As I said, this is a WIP but I'm quite happy with the outcome so far ^^

Why LCD Density is set to 240 on the X.

This is a basic public awareness notice: What LCD density does and its drawbacks (the why it does what it does is not addressed b/c I have no clue).
We've all seen or heard about changing the lcd density property in /system/build.prop (and why it is better to edit this through the text editor via root explorer rather than use an app which is shown to be unstable). However, as most of us who have messed with it along with additional rows and columns on the home screens via Launcher Pro and ADW, the big problem is icon overlap or crowding.
Why is this?
I'm still trying to figure out how exactly a LOWER value of LCD Density results in a DENSER display. It doesn't make sense to me. However, it is inescapably linked to letting android keep a 4x4 display as SQUARES for each icon "block". Decrease the # and those squares get tighter width-wise. I'm just not certain then how it works with varying the # of rows and columns.
HOWEVER, in order to prevent overlap, the screen NEEDS to be in 4x4 with an LCD density of 240. That is, to keep the blocks square.
Otherwise, prepare to tweak and fiddle with your homescreens so your icons and icon text don't resemble scrambled mush, and what looks good in portrait won't necessarilly look good or the widgets won't be the same size in landscape. And vice versa.
So, like many other things, fiddling with this property (while cool.... I've finally settled for an lcd density of 210 with homescreens rocking in 6x6 using launcher pro plus) there are trade-offs.
Be aware, and have fun tweaking your settings.
Have you found anyway to avoid the slight blurring of Ui elements when not set to the default density?
I also tried 6x6 with 210 running LPP but my widgets (beautiful Weather, Switch Pro) wouldn't stretch the width of the screen.
I'm back to 4x7 which looks the best, but that doesn't make sense to me either!
EDIT - I have landscape mode disabled because it lags on LPP at the moment. I also don't have text displayed for my icons so if I could just get everything to line up correctly, I don't think the overlap would be that bad. I just can't figure out why the widgets don't stretch (I do have auto-fit checked).
Example of 210 4x7:

You do have Launcher Pro Plus right?? (Just checking because you can only do it with the paid version)
To be able to stretch it.. you have to press and hold it like you are going to remove it.. then release it. The widget will then be highlighted and at the bottom right of the highlighted widget.. you will see an area for you to drag and resize the widget. After you have resized it, press the back or home button.
Thank you for clarifying...it worked! I feel dumb for not trying that begot so I appreciate it! My dimensions are now 5 x 7. Im going to have to experiment and see what kind of dimensions work best. What are you using?

I'm actually at 5x6
You know.. I just played around with the homescreen rows and columns and I have come to find that... 5x10 is pretty good!! (That's 5 columns x 10 rows)
Yes you have the possibility to overlap... but the row alignment are so small... that you can easily move the widget up one and it looks it would on a 4x4
Is there a way to resize the icons?

Post your screen shots of Launcher 7

I recently tried this launcher and quickly enjoyed the simplicity wp7 offers but don't want to go to wp7 phone any time soon.
Most of my icons are from the metro ui packs but didn't go with metro ui because the tiles look smaller while launcher 7 tiles take up the right amount of room on my screen.
For the live weather tile I use fancy widget pro you have two options for the weather widget and works well for me.
Update- launcher 7 now has landscape support which is good and much better live contact tile image updates.

Hahaha, I don't emphasize on wall papers so I just made my 1x1 tiles clear and so far it works well for me since i made my important apps tiles huge and keep most at the very bottom of my list.

Favorite clock/weather widget?

So one of the only things I find myself salivating at on my wife's HTC Incredible 2 is the Sense weather/clock widget. Thing looks badass. I've found some of the ripoffs on the appstore, and have installed Beautiful Widgets, which has some pretty cool clocks, but a lot of them look like janky crap.

Fancy Widget Pro is great. I prefer it over Beautiful Widgets and Weather Toggle & Widgets.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.anddoes.fancywidgets
I guess the new version is called just Fancy Widgets
Weather and Toggle Widgets. I use the Digital Clock skin:
Thanks for the suggestions The couple of clocks I've downloaded for Fancy Widgets(I only had free before, but just bought full version) are already way better quality than the ones on Beautiful Widgets. Will try to post a screen shortly
Beautiful Widgets is my favorite. Lots of options and skins

Second to that, plus they had it as an Amazon Free App of the day once. Woohoo!
Beautiful Widgets all the way. I've been using the destroy skin with a transparent background. Around 50% that way I can see my screen background.
DroidX Eye Clock widget
At some point in the last nine months I had a DroidX Clock widget on my OG Droid. I really was just a clock widget that used the DroidX Eye as a background, and offered a choice for the eye color (red, blue, green, yellowish). It was lost at some point in one of the many times I flashed different roms to that phone. I have looked a few times in the last couple of months, but have been unable to find it.
If anybody has seen that widget, or has it, I'd love to get it installed on my Droid Charge.
(BTW: Verizon tunred on 4G in my area today, and it is crazy fast... loving it).
Actually. Use go launcher and then get.goweather. your wife will be salivating looking at your phone. They.have an htc style clock that is better than htcs. And the coolness.of go launcher is a "see it to appreciate it" thing. Set your app drawer to have the blind effect. Its awesome lol.

Check out GS Flip Clock wallpaper. I'm running version 4.3 on my Samsung Tab and it's fantastic. It is as close as you can get to the HTC version. It had some growing pains initially, but as of version 4.3 everything seems to be working great.
I didn't pay for it, so I must have found the apk via Google. I remember searching for quite a while because HTC had been putting the smack down on any developers who used the flip clock style.
Currently it is on the market (website only, it didn't show up when I searched using the market app on my Charge) for $2.00. Since I'm a "noob" I can't post the direct link. Search for GSFlipClockWallpaper by Sergey Golovanov

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.wed.go.launcherex.theme.cube
- I've customized the animation transitions to make sure the phone is always stress tested and to see how RAM optimizations would really affect it.
Cylinder effect for the Appdrawer and Cube (Out) for the homescreen transitions.
Ironically not many wallpaper's look good with the black status bar of SGSL, I was wondering If anyone could change the color to white and green like Huwawei or HTC phones that would be amazingly appreciated , Most wallpaper's that look good are grunge textures or materials Wood, Glass etc.
As for the clock, it's the SGII Digital Clock widget that I took from the SGSII thread. It's amazing if you ask me.

Post Your HOMESCREEN [SGSL]

I'm starting this thread so that everyone can showoff their creativity in making Awesome Homescreens.
I myself put a lot of effort in customizing my Homescreens.
While posting your homescreens, please be specific on what you used to achieve it (eg. Name of widget or wallpaper).
So ill start with 2 homescreens which even got FEATURED on lifehacker.com
1. The Evil Android Homescreen.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

I customized my homescreen to make it look simple, neat and smart, and it goes well with the Gingerbread green color.
I'm using the stock Gingerbread OS on my Samsung Galaxy SL with GO Launcher Ex as the launcher.
I am not using many widgets on my screen as I really like the wallpaper.
The Evil Android under the torn layer.
I've mainly kept all the Internet apps on the center screen. I use Minimalistic Text for the date.
You can tap the date to open any calendar app.
I've not kept any clock widget as the time is always there in the notification bar.
The black circle in the center is the Circle Launcher for more Internet apps which I don't use often but should be accessible quickly if I do need them. I also use Switch Pro for the Data connection and Bluetooth widget.
On the left screen, I again use Minimalistic Text for the battery. You can tap the widget to open the Battery Usage screen. I've kept this screen for things I don't do many times in a day (eg. Keep an alarm, Calculate things, or update or download a new app) but at the same time they shouldn't be far when I need them.
The right screen screen is for other utilities which I use regularly. I use Phantom Music Control for the music widget, which controls PowerAmp.
Though PowerAmp has its own widgets, I couldn't make those fit properly in the area I wanted and also there are no skins available for those widgets. So I'm using the Phantom Music Control widget as it gives options for customization including skins.
The icons are not included with any GO Launcher theme. I found some of them on the internet and others I've photoshopped. I made the wallpaper merging the Evil Android wallpaper which I found on Lifehacker and another from DeviantArt.
Click to collapse
The second Homescreen.
2. The Aged Paper Homescreen.
Lifehacker link.
What I've done here is that I used this wallpaper, and cropped it in multiples of my screen resolution (480x800). That is, since I'm using three screens I cropped it in the resolution 1440x800.
I'm using GO Launcher EX launcher which uses a grid based home screen layout, so I created a grid in Photoshop to map the text icons. Those text icons are not actually icons.
I used the text tool in Photoshop to create them using various handwriting fonts which I found on the internet. Those texts are on the wallpaper itself.
The reason behind this was it gave me freedom to orient the text in any way i wanted and could use more space on the home screen. If I had made an icon file of the text and then had replaced it on the screen then that would had confined the text in the grid box which sometimes results in cropping of the icon depending on available space.
I used MultiPicture Live Wallpaper to set each screen's wallpaper. This allowed me to use the whole image as the wallpaper. After setting each screen's wallpaper I used a "blank" icon to replace each home screen icon.
When it comes to widgets: On the home screen and the left screen I've used Minimalistic Text with one of the fonts. The Data connection and Bluetooth toggle is Switch Prowidgets. Lastly, PowerAmp is on the Right screen.
