[Q] LG Optimus Wifi connection Internet problem - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I got an LG Optimus 7 yesterday. Everything seems to be ok except
Wifi connects but I cant access the net on any program, 3g works fine.
Has any one had any similar issues??
Or has any ideas???
thanks alot

Same problem here...
Hi,
I developer unlocked my Optimus 7Q (C900 Quantum) and since then have had no problems with WiFi signal in the status bar, and I can browse using IE and connect to marketplace and other stock apps. When trying to use the network on 3rd party apps (Facebook, engadget etc) it say there is a connectivity error.
I have looked on other posts on XDA and found a fix for samsung devices, can't find anything on MFG.
The only WiFi tweak I have done is enable the tethering option in settings using WinTT - I hardly ever use my cell data connection though, so it was a bit of a stupid addition. There is no way using WinTT to remove the registry edit, can anyone post a way of removing this setting option and/or reverting any tethering changes? If Hard Reset is the only option, let me know.

[Q] Internet problem on Android 2.2 on HTC HD2 T-Mobile

hey guys,
so i just installed FroyoStone SEnse Version 3.2 from gamesquare.co.uk
and everything works so well except for the Internet.
I have Wi-Fi at home, but when I went to school today, i couldn't go on my Internet help me please? how do i get the Internet working? I have the data plan too :/
THank you !!
Hi kincawine3
I have the same problem. I live in the Netherlands with Tmobile as my carrier, full data plan etcetera.
I installed android 2.2 my wifi works, my internet doesnt. It says 'connected', it even shows the right icons in the taskbar, but no internet.
I tried erasing my apn settings and resetting them and I tried factory settings but to no avail. I ringed Tmobile about it and (as was to be expected) they couldnt help since they suggested the above.
Help would be immensely appreciated.

First of all, make sure you're not set to a static IP (which i assume you're not).
You might also want to check a different kernel. I'm not familiar with the kernel used in your build so i couldn't tell you what to expect - but there are 2 kernels running for the HD2 (hastarin's and mdj's). you can try to use them and see if it helps. the older builds had problems with ppp which are now (more or less) fixed.
read the instructions on how to replace the kernel and let me know if you run into any problems.
Thanks Nir
Hi,
While i do not share the problem of no internet access, the connection drops off regularly. Why, but more practival how do I fix it?
I can often see the signal switching from 2G to 3G to HSDPA, perhaps this has someting to do with the connection going dead. Is there a way to keep the signal fixed on 3G? Like there is an option to only maintain 2G connections.
When i go to Settings and disable + enable internet access it works fine. Sometimes the connection goes dead every five minutes, sometimes rarely.
Facts: HTC HD2 WinMobile 6.5, Android 2.3 via SD card method.
Unlimited data plan.
regards from Netherlands

[Q] Samsug Nexus S WiFi issues, problems?

[Q] Wifi signal?
Does anyone get a weak wifi signal with their Nexus S? Whenever I connect to my at home wifi I never get full bars and something I'll just randomly lose signal. Also it seems to go pretty slow. I used to have the Mytouch4G and it work flawlessly with the wifi. Anyone else having this problem?

OMG yesss I do.
Just about a room away I loose signal, almost completely. = 0
IDK, but I see more flaws every day that passes
Mine's been working fine over Wi-Fi. I'm pretty glad it does too, because my only data option with it is Wi-Fi..
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
Wifi has been working great for me. It reconnects automatically and doesn't drop. The signal seems on par with my nexus one.
Speed wise, is it on par with the 3G network?
[Q] Wifi does not work anymore after rooting :(
So, I unlocked my Android 2.3.1 and rooted it ... But if I click on wifi so I could connect to my modem it says Error and wont even search or anything. I tried reseting too but still no luck .. What is the problem and how to fix this ??
That's odd, I didn't have any issues with wifi as I connected to Android Market to downloaded ROM Manager during my rooting process earlier. Have you tried flashing a custom ROM on your device to see if it'll fix it?
No I didnt, would that work? .. A friend told me to install a new "kernel" but I dont want to overwhelm my android with custom made kernels .
your problem is you used one of the quick methods of rooting your phone, which used a kernel that wasn't from the exact rom you have.
if your on stock 2.3.1, you will need the stock 2.3.1 boot.img, and then you'll need to root it manually the long way via adb command line. search the nexus s development section for how-to's. they are all there.
i too had this problem, had to install MoDaCo ROM to fix it, but i dont regret rooting, i now have custom rom and over clocked cpu on the nexus s
you have two options, either to flash NANDROID backup to un-root and return to stock or install a custom ROM, i choose MoDaCo bcoz of its UI, it looks and feels just like the stock one.

Yes, that's the point of MoDaCo roms, to make minimal changes to the look and feel of the phone, but to improve performance with his custom optimizations.

[Q] Nexus S Wifi Settings - force close
Hi all,
Just got a new Nexus S - all was well at home. Took it to work today and noticed something very odd. It was fine until entering the wifi settings menu - at which point it dramatically slowed down. I got two 'not responding, close or wait' messages before being able to join the network.... all other settings are fine - just the wifi area.
Weird - wondering what could cause this... too many wifi networks broadcasting (am in middle of London)...?
Anyone seen anything similar?

Too many WiFi around you shouldn't cause that.
Try rebooting and setting again if you haven't already.
Hmmm - rebooted and still have the same issue. At home, or even a block away from the office it all works fine. But in the office itself, although it connects and uses the wifi fine, the settings page is VERY slow to load and gives me the wait/force close message.
Out of interest - I also have 'wifi analyser' from the marketplace. This too is very slow and unresponsive when in the office.
So - it is definately something to do with the wifi here.... but have not got a clue what. Before I join the wifi, or when I am physically somewhere else it all works fine.
Wifi is WPA-TKIP, the key is a very long jumble of letters but surely that is not an issue.
Strange eh!!!

[Q] Possible WiFi problem?
Hi there, just bought a Nexus S, also used to have Nexus One.
The thing is for some wireless networks even though I enter the password correctly, it says connected and still there is no connection at all. (I mean browser tries to connect but at the end it says page could not be found) I even tried with an ad-hoc network that I created with my laptop but still the problem exists.
At home I'm able to my network without a problem. The type of network I'm trying to connect is: WPA2 Personal with AES. Is there any known issue about AES at Android system? Afaik there is no way to change the encryption used right?
this might actually not be a nexus S issue.
some modems/switches/routers are configured to block certain devices/applications/package's
we have a modem and router with both wifi.
but my psp/nDS cant connect to the modem, but can connect with the router

i have a similar problem. My Nexus S connects to my router only within a few hours after a router reset. Then it stucks at "obtaining ip" and never connected before I do another router reset.
My home wifi is WPA2 type, and for WEP type wifi my NS never got connected.

[Q] WiFi hotspot was working well but has now dissappeared

Phone: HTC Hero GSM
OS: Cyanogenmod 7.2.0
Was using the WiFi tethering to share the 3G connection on the phone to my laptop when travelling. This was functioning just fine until a few months ago.
Now, the function has dissapeared completely. When I write completely I mean just that. The settings aren't even seen in the menus anymore.
Does someone have any idea what might be the reason for this?
I've read somewhere that some apps handling communications might destroy native functions, but the only such app I've installed is Viber and the function remains gone even though Viber is now uninstalled.

[Q] Wi-Fi Issues on my Android phone

Hi,
Hoping someone on here can help me with my issue. When I'm at home I get no Internet over my WiFi on my phone. I have a Nexus 5, stock, and it is the only device in the house that has this issue. It is not the general WiFi on the phone, as at work I am able to use the Internet just fine over WiFi. It shows as connected to the network yet I get the Orange icon rather than the white one (indicating no internet access). I do occasionally get the Up/Down arrows next to the wifi icon in my settings panel, which I assume indicated data transfer but the icon still orange.
I have looked around on the internet so far and found loads of fixes that haven't done this for me. Im up for any suggestions apart from stuff like suggesting I buy a new router (which is a BT HomeHub4, for refernce) or rooting my phone. I am concious of rooting my N5 after I had issues with my GS3 and N4 after rooting.
Thanks in advance,
MTMannion

[Completed] wifi connects but no internet at all

hello everyone,i have a chinese phone called onyx 1 from eurostar brand.the problem is it connects perfectly to any wifi and the wifi icon shows up in the status bar but there is totally no internet.i have tried almost everything to solve this issue but with no luck.i was thinking whether is it a hardware problem? and it has the option to uninstall system apps in settings so is there a chance that a system app might have got uninstalled and thats the reason there are internet problems? need help....without internet the phone is really unusable...
Hi !
I don`t think you have removed any related apps not be able to connect to internet
Maybe the phone can`t read your router`s frequency bands , switch between 2.4 and 5ghz or even reset your router
Alternatively you can try other hotspot
Good luck !
