I picked up my phone yesterday and notice the bleed on three corners and along the top but not really a deal breaker. It's performance has me concerned though. It's often very sluggish, even updating apps from the market hangs it up and many fail. I've rebooted more times in the last 24 hours than I have in a month with my MyTouch 4g.
The performance is far from what I expected and it's not the powerhouse I wanted. Is it just my phone?
I even factory restored it just to make sure.
My phone has decent battery and besides a slight stutter when market installs a program, I've had no performance issues.
Guess its your phone.
I was also unhappy with the speed. It was better than my nexus one, but not as fast as I'd hope. Anyway, read the thread I pasted below. It drastically improved the speed and smoothness of my phone. Hope it helps.

Fast as can be right here ...

I just did the lag fix mentioned here: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/one-click-lag-fix-for-galaxy-s-i9000/
on my captivate and got a score of 2185... It's my 1st time benchmarking the phone. Is that a good score?
yeah but did your actual perfomance change?
I got 2190 on a reboot after I manually did the fix. Still have all the AT&T stuff, root and side loaded but other than that stock.
The phone does feel a little faster, its not twice as fast as it was but scrolling around and launching programs does seem faster. Placebo effect? Maybe.
Nice
I tried it as well and I can say I have definitely noticed the speed bump. Well worth the three minutes it took me to read and install.
It doesn't really feel that much quicker, more like smoother since the lag is pretty much gone.

yeah it changes all right. things load much faster. webpages, apps etc... you will be amazed
I ran the fix too. The phone finally feels high end. Every app is now responsive. Xda app flies now. The market loads the"downloads" tab in 1 second instead of 7 dolphin is as fast as the stock browser. It's really great.
That said, the quadrant score is bogus. The lag fix sets up a loopback for io writes so quadrant produces a completely bogus and inflated ui score.
Wondering if there's a difference in speed when using Bubby's root method versus the ACE hack kit. I rooted my phone about a year ago, my GF just did hers a couple weeks ago, and I could swear there's a difference between the two handsets, though they're both Inspire 4G's. Just curious to know if there's anything to my observation, or if it's a case of things always taking longer when you're waiting for them, rather than when you're the observer.
What specifically takes longer on one than the other.

Oh, say for example things like opening and closing the app drawer, switching between apps, and general interface operations. I also find that my Favorites dialer widget tends to refresh a lot, particularly after a call - the icons will reload. That might be a different issue, but figured I'd mention it.

Probably speed difference due to what's installed on the phones. Number of apps. Type of SD card (maybe) things like that. It seems that the more I flash and change stuf on my pho.e the slower it gets. So I've started doing Full Wipes every few weeks. Even to my SD card taking everything off and only putting back what I actually use. It realmseems to help a lot. Also I've noticed that when a dev makes a full wipe zip for the Rom, that it works better when doing that along with the full wipe option you get with 4ext
Hope I helped

That different issue may be associated, as it sounds like you may be suffering from a bit of lag. Have you tried running quadrant tests for comparison purposes? Not all Inspires will perform exactly the same. My wife's Inspire has always gotten a slightly better signal than mine, while my GPS has always performed better than hers. There will be variances with processor as well, although it should be minor.

Let's not forget about ROMs. They all perform differently, too.
If you config them IDENTICALLY and yours is slower, then the proc/emmc may be inferior to what's in your wife's device. It's not unlike pc parts, you could have two kits of matching ram and one won't oc as well as the other. Same for processors too. Q6600 G0 SLACR will generally oc better than most other Q6600's.
Well, they're the same machine - Inspire 4G's, though I bought mine in March of last year from AT&T, she got hers in red from Target just about three months ago. The idea of variances between CPUs makes sense, though. Just figured I'd ask, since I hacked using Bubby's method and she used ACE, so I thought that might have made a difference.

Also manufacturers make plenty of changes throughout a product's life. Small revision changes that may reduce cost, increase stability, boost performance, sometimes lower performance. As long as it is not running 'poorly' then small differences are expected just with the enormous list of variables. Just take the faster phone and give her the slower one!

It could always be the rom. To compare better, you both need the same rom and version. With the app drawer, maybe you have the app drawer able to cache, and she doesn't? Just a guess.
Could be updated parts on her phone. I remember when I had my HTC Tilt when it came out then my sister had hers replaced a little bit before it was removed from the market and it was significantly faster than mine flashed with a ligh rom designed for speed.
Not exactly sure about this, but one would have to assume that battery charge levels could have an effect on the speed of the device and it's process speeds. the battery stays at nearly the same voltage during the charge cycle, but does begin to roll off as the battery power declines.
It could be said that decreased battery power would have a forced undervolt effect depending on it's level of charge, thus slowing down the device as it discharges.
Or....It's quite possible I'm full of crap, and have no Idea.
If you agree with the last sentence, please hit the thanks button out of pity....g

There's a voltage regulator in there maintaining the supply to the phone. The voltage you read in any battery monitor app is the voltage of the battery. The regulator should be feeding about 3.3-3.5v from that source, so once the battery drops below those levels, things die off. You are right, as supply voltages drop the phone wouldnt function at it's full potential, there is just circuitry providing the proper levels regardless of the battery's voltage.
Just received my One S yesterday and after about 10 Mins of use it felt a little hot on the backside. And this is without any type case on it, so I then unlocked bootloader and rooted and lowered the CPU Speed but it still feels kinda hot after very little use. Has anybody else felt this........
its normal.
i have it too.

How hot you are talking about? Did you play any heavy game or something?
You can install some battery app to see what the temperature it goes so people could compare yours with theirs.

The only point at which it got a bit too hot for my comfort was sitting in my lap with GPS and google navigation running for about 20 minutes screen at full brightness. Picked it up and was a tad bit toasty.
Other than that, gaming, video streaming etc no heat issues outside what i consider normal for this type of device.
I had some weird heat issues the first couple of days when I got my phone, then I started using an app killer, didn't help... so I stopped using it, and the heat isn't as bad as it was before. It's due to heavy cpu/gpu usage from hd games or just installed apps that don't have any cache data, or high visual load ones in general.

Dont get me wrong it runs fine with no reboots or freezing, just felt a bit weird when it got hot posting to google+ other than that it runs like a champ
Xda!
I have noticed in the last month my N5 starting to become laggy. To be fair I do push it to the limit. I have over 180 apps installed, it's rooted but on a stock ROM with some Xposed mods.
I'm quite aware that a factory reset would sort my issues out but I simply do not have the patience to input all my user data again to get back to where I am today.
Do the good people of XDA have suggestions on diagnosis for my lag, which has become noticeable. Is there a way for me to find out what processes or potential issues I may have which are begining to really hurt my performance and user experience.
Day one this was the zippiest device I'd ever been fortunate enough to lay my hands on. I want that back!
Do you ever wipe the cache/Dalvik? If not, I would start there.

Although I think there is a certain element of getting used to the speed of the device over time (so a perceived slow down takes place), the installation of apps that run on boot can also cause issues.
I think the best bet is Greenify anything that you don't need running in the background. For example, the BBC Weather app seems to want to stay in memory 24/7 when I maybe use it once a day. If there are 10 such apps using RAM, that will impact performance more than anything. The number of installed apps should actually have quite a small impact on performance if they are "dormant".

Thank you for the two suggestions.
Clearing the Dalvik and cache took an age but seems to have made an immediate impact once the system settled in on boot. I haven't updated my greenify list in ages so that is something I will box shortly....
Would you say that the Huawei Nexus 6P is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Huawei Nexus 6P exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

I don't get it
I don't get it either, but I will say this phone is one of the fastest I've ever used in day to day usage. I came from a Galaxy S6 128gb and this device is a constant smooth experience. Jank and constant app reloads is what killed the S6 for me.
Hangouts is responsive and smooth... I think that says it all.
Faster than the OnePlus2, which has the same processor and more RAM... Not near as laggy.
No lags, no hiccups, just pure unadulterated speed.

What do you mean - Justin Bieber
fast for me. faster than the tears when watchin a nicholas sparks movie.
This phone flies.
Granted im coming from a galaxy S3, but still, this phone is awesome
Yeah I've had absolutely 0 times where this phone has hung/frozen/janked/Etc.
Think that's all I need to say really. Also, multitasking works great and apps don't constantly have to refresh. Benchmarks are completely pointless and it amazes me that people still think they're important on smartphones. Especially when the Samsung phones all blow this out the water with their crazy antutu scores, yet people still claim this phone is faster and less often freezes up or hangs.

It is very fast, it does clock down when hot, but that is a good thing.
In normal usage the heat is low and the phone flies but even only somewhat intensive games definitely heat up the phone faster and the framerate suffers.
the phone feels fast as hell after it boots up, but after awhile when you start opening up a bunch of stuff and its still in ur task manager.. things start slowing down a lot

WHAT !?! - Lil John
The phone is fast, but it is not without some issues.
In particular, I have some bluetooth issues - the phone randomly disconnects from my car's BT, and only a reboot would fix it.
I used Nexus 5, Moto X 2nd gen, and Moto X Pure previously in the same car, and had no issues.
Hoping it is software related, and the "fix" is on the way.
BTW, tried two Nexus 6P's and the same results with BT
My first Nexus phone and I might never switch from the Nexus line going forward. I've had it for almost a month now (received mine Oct 27th) and I still haven't had one hiccup or stutter. This phone is a champ and prob the most consistent performing phone I've had to date..
can't get any faster currently
Nothing to add, fastest device I had so far. Very snappy, no lags.
Boot and shutdown is a little slower than others, say GS6, but everything else is perfect. Doesnt skip a beat.
First phone that didnt stutter when you swipe left to Google now in the launcher (just checked it out before I switched to Nova, lol).
fast enough for me
