here are my phone details
Android version: 2.3.1

Build number GRH78
Thanks & regards

The information is all over this forum and people have written excellent guides that will help you. Google have also released 2.3.4 this morning, so I would look for that instead.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I have seen some of the threads, about this information. can any one please provide right links for the updating procedure. I have downloaded the GRH78 update file. But my some of questions are unanswered (Probably i am not enough educated about android terminology), do i have to root my phone or not before i update the package???
Please tell me the procedure of reverting it back to original state from recovery???
Thank you all once again

Dude... http://lmgtfy.com/?q=manual+update+to+android+2.3.3
It's at simple as that. I mean come on... I, too, was unaware of the Android terminology when I started, but I still could get up to date without the need of starting another thread like this.
thank you dude. I am ready to update my phone only worry is I need to get to the right links to download, so that I should not end up in updating with faulty image. Please provide me latest update image links which works four my phone. or I have already downloaded the update from some links I will try that, but please some one explain me what I have todo incase I am bricked how to revert back to the 2.3.1 stock which I have now.
Thank you every one

The .zip file should have something like "GRI40-from-GRH78" if you have GRH78 right now. Same applies for any other GRxx from GRxx transfer. Check whatever version you have right now, then download the right .zip for you.

I have the Ukranian version of the HTC Hero, which doesn't come with the marketplace. I need to get root access in order to get a workaround - but my phone will not let me do any of the steps that I have found. Here are the OS information that the phone has
Firmware - 1.5
Build - 2.73.495.24 146733 CL#67791 release-keys
I guess what I need to know is what do I need to do to get Marketplace on this phone, without serious hacking of the firmware. Is there a flashing application out there that is simple to use? Is there actually a working way to Root the phone?

Dear All,
I've recently purchased an HTC ONE ST with Android 4.0.4, which I believe it's only sold in China. I would truly appreciate any help in order to be able to root my device. I like it all in all, but in Chinese devices/Android it's not possible to use many apps, especially Google Play, which has way more and better apps than the local AnZhi (which is not bad itself).
Here's my phone's Software specs:
Android version: 4.0.4
HTC Sense version: 4.1
HTC Sense version: 4.1
ROM version: 1.24.1403.2 (Tue Nov 27 xxxxxx 2012)
Software number: 1.0.0.T528t
HTC SDK API level: 4.25
HTC Extension version: HTCExtension_403_1_GA_26
Kernel version: 3.0.8+-gb21afcb [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Baseband version: 0.11.w1233p2.013.23-553.13.03.01
Build number: 1.24.1403.2 CL130246 release-keys
Browser version: WebKit/534.30
If my HTC does not apply as ONE S, then I apologize for the trouble. And if you can help, I'll be forever grateful.
Cheers to all, and Happy Holidays

I'm in the same situation. No Google apps on the phone and tried to install Google Play Store manually and although it would install it wouldn't run. I figure it must have something to do with Google and China not getting along too well - perhaps some pernicious China Mobile software preventing the installation of anything that would make the phone useful?
Has anyone had any luck?
To root this device, first you need unlock the bootloader, then you can use the tool from here.
To install Google Play and other Google services, you can do it by copy the APKs to system/app then modify permissions, owner and group.

First you need to unlock the bootloader following instructions from the Htcdev.com website.
Goto htcdev.com and click unlock bootloader -> Get started.
Select Htc One as your device and proceed, you will be asked to login or create an account in case you don't have one.
You need to acknowledge that you have accepted the terms and conditions first.
The instructions on how to unlock the bootloader are then shown to you, follow that step by step guide and you will have an unlocked bootloader at the end.
You may need to flash a recovery on to your device, don't remember if this was quite necessary but for my case I flashed the recovery i have attached here with fastboot.
You need to download GAPPS For ICS 4.0.4(haven't attached any link for this but please look around) you will get a zip file which you will copy to your phone's SD card.
Reboot into recovery and choose update zip from SD card, browse for it and apply the update!
Note: Not really sure whether its necessary to update the ROM but I did it for my case because I was basically trying many things out.
still needed to do this rom change ?
if this is still wanted then contact me ....
i work with rooted telephone containing 4.1.1 rom and google play plus europe keyboards, google play etc

I can not speak English. I have a Htc t528t. No Gapps package. I have not installed Ruu yet .. I have not installed any recovery with FastBoot .. I did not load the above recover.img file .. no recovery is installed (twrp.cwm .. Touch) .. please help .. there is no gapps package .. root is on the device ..
**I just registered this February so I am a newbie here from the Philippines. I apologize if you see anything wrong in this post.**
Ok, so I had this new phone:
Model number: O+ 8.75 Android
Android version: 2.3.6
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7
Build number: Oplus A100ALPS.GB2.MP.V2
Custom Build Version: 121117_1911
And I've been searching for methods of rooting this phone very effectively.
I've been following the methods right but still there's no effect, like the Z4Root that exits automatically, and the SuperOneClick that sticks on Step #7 and says "mount: operation not permitted."
I know this is a new phone from the US, but I really want to root/jailbreak this to play freely.
Anything to help me and other users of this kind of phone?? please wait 2 seconds for an uncompressed image, or press Ctrl+F5 for original quality page Thank you.

if could someone can provide us a unsecure boot.img and scatter.txt of O+8.75 it will be easy for us to root our phone
just download eroot from google search I try many times.
Hi, I have scoured the web for information but several hours later I am none the wiser.
I would like to root my device in order to optimize its performance. I am super confused about: cf-root, mobile/pc odin, android version, etc. I still have no idea what is appropriate for my device. :crying: Please point me in the right direction.
I have found may threads out there with very detailed instructions, but I can't figure out if that's what I need. I'm apparently on Gingerbread, but what do I need now? The Icecream, the other one?
Reason for rooting: phone too slow with so many apps loading themselves in the background. I want to be able to prevent all these [expletive deleted] apps from loading themselves automatically. I also want to remove the stock apps I don't need (but can't now remove). I'm tired of factory resetting every other week to improve performance.
Ultimate purpose: phone, sms, whatsapp, news. That's it. I don't need 3d porn or anything. My needs are extremely minimal.
Thanks for any pointers! :good:

Thanks Sewrizer. I'd rather brick the phone than pay for the service. I already have a more recent phone, so this is more of a second device. It's just that I like the typing better so I haven't completely stopped using it. I guess I'm sort of relishing the idea of an experiment with it as well.
Do you have a link to instructions for the above? If it works for your friend, it's good enough for me.
Unless I hear something back, I'm getting ready to try this:

thanks a lot.
which cf-root?
Thanks Sewrizer. As it happens these are the instructions I started with, and from which a lot of confusion arose (I can't post urls yet).
The first link is to Odin3 v1.85, but I have found Odin3 v1.87. Not sure if there is a later version. It says somewhere that the latest version is best.
The second link is to a series of posts with many download links. Somewhere down the page it states that if you're confused, then:
First, go to Settings -> About phone -> Build number. It should say something like FROYO.xxJPy. It's primarily the JPy that we are interested in. Try to match that with a download link available in this (and the next few) posts. Some of the downloads dont just have JPy file name format, but are called xx_xxx_JPy.
Let me explain that. Samsung isn't always very precise in naming/marking their different (leaked) firmwares. CF-Root's are modified kernels, the filenames explain in more detail which exact firmware ROM the base kernel was taken from, for those experts who understand.
If you are not one of those people, go back to the JPy thing. The "y" in JPy is 0-9, A-Z. If they run out of numbers, they use letters. So A would be 10 (9 + 1), while Z would be 35 (9 + 26). Find the one that is closest to yours, if yours is not present, and flash that one.

Well, my build number is of the form GINGERBREAD.zsjv6, which doesn't fit the pattern described (I don't see any JPy, I see jv6), so which version of CF-Root should I download?

There seems to be no info on that phone on XDA. So you'll have to post your questions in our general Q&A section. Perhaps someone there will know something about your device.
