Hi Guys,
When you record with the video camera, it makes a very irritating noise and I'd like to delete that. The camera app lets you go silent but the video doesn't for some reason.
I've looked in (using root explorer) /system/media/audio and I can't find those sound files, is there another location sound files are kept?
Best Regards
can you pull the camera apk file? i don't have root yet but maybe i can find it for you from the apk.
I pulled this one from /system/app
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6759990/Camera.apk
Is this the right one?
cheers
Try replacing your /system/app/Camera.apk with this one (back up original first). I reduced the volume of the two WAV files to nothing. Haven't had a chance to test it myself as I am not yet rooted.
Be sure to force stop the app and clear its data, also a reboot might be necessary.
Thanks man, I'll give this a try shortly.
were the sound files embedded in the apk?

Yes they are! And very helpfully named camstart01.wav and camstop01.wav
HAHA never thought to look in there
I see them.
That's why I like android, seems like everything is possible.
Ok I'm at work so my brain may just be fried. but I renamed your file and tried it and it wouldn't launch.
Then I modified the wav files in the .apk with audacity, and when I launch it I get an FC right away but I can still see the camera working under the FC dialog.
I'll mess with it when I get home, it's probably user error
I updated the APK in my previous post, used a newer version of apktool, old version might have been buggy.
Need to use apktool to unpack and then repack it if you are trying it yourself and then sign it with jarsigner and zipalign it with zipalign.
Be sure to force stop the app and clear the app data, also a reboot might be necessary.
I hope it works.
That worked!
Many thanks.

Hey guys,
I am in need of your help, obviously .
I have downloaded an app called FeebeRingtones. It works pretty good so far, apart from an annoying point.
You get the option to download some songs from it, which are apparently saved in the /sdcard/FeebeRings/mp3 folder. This annoys me because it essentially makes those downloaded mp3 ringtones playable from my media player.
What i want to do is edit the apk and make it save in /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones folder. I've opened up the apk, and got to a file named file_save.xml. Thing is when i open that file up its content shows up as gibberish. I tried opening it with an xml editor (Open XML Editor 1.6) but still no luck at all.
Can anyone point me at the right direction, as to what program to use and edit it?
I am attaching the file_save.xml in case anyone wants to have a look and help me out.
Thank you very much for your time.
I post this in my SGS4G Forum, but haven't gotten any hits, trying to broaden my chances of getting some help.
Ok, before i posted this i searched high and low and really couldn't find a strait answer. Here is what i am trying to do... I have a bunch of cool sounds... I would like to set these sounds as key tones... you know, like when i dial a number on my key pad.
So i got all the files in order, converted them to .ogg, and placed them in /system/media/audio/ui and renamed them key1.ogg key2.ogg etc.... Well nothing happens, i cant even play the file, it says its "unrecognized" by the stock media player and Rockplayer. anyone have any ideas?
I read somewhere that the "program" that plays these files will only recognize certain codecs or something, That is a little outside my AO (area of operation)....any help would be greatly appreciated!

I found this
http://www.droidnova.com/creating-sound-effects-in-android-part-1,570.html
However, i am not a Dev so this might as well be Japanese, any hints?
That link is relevant for writting an app that plays sounds.
The app that does this, the dialer already exists though.
This rather sounds like a codec problem.
If you can't open and play those files with the native android player on your phone, the dialer won't be able either.
Recheck the encoding on those sound files and try again.
they will play from the sdcard, but when i move them to the UI folder on the root, they wont... still an encoding issue?
Could be a permission issue.
There is no permission issue on the sdcard, as all files are accessible to everyone, but this doesnt apply to files in the root folder.
So try changing the permissions.
Changed the hell out of the permissions, which made the native player play the file.. YAY!! However......when i changed the file name to Key1.ogg from key1a.ogg, i press the corresponding number on the dialer...i get nada. so sound at all, i will play with permissions a little more, maybe change the format to a lower quality file and see if that helps... Thanks for the insite!
Well the filename has to be the same as the original one, CASE SENSITIVE mostlikely.
To make sure you have absolutely the same kind of file you could extract the original sound file and use a common player (i.e. VLC?) to check the bitrate, encoding, kHz etc.
I DID IT!!! WOO HOO.. what a pain in the ass! LOL I made the files smaller... less than 16hz and 92kbps.. then sent them all to drop box... copied them to the ui folder... THEN...I renamed the originals...then renamed the new ones.. giving them god permission. It worked!! Wish i was more of a Dev.. i'd make an app to simplify it...took about an hour once i got the hang of it....
Ok, I'm looking for an app that can convert mp3 to ogg format. I know I can get (and have) programs for windows which can do this but I want an app which does and it's be awesome if there's one which will insert it to the appropriate place, eg, to the ringtone folder on the phone. I doubt the latter part had been done (mostly out of cynicism) but it would be nice to have instead of having to use a file explorer and manually copying it.
The second is a batch app installer which doesn't bug me for confirmations with every app. It's annoying. I want a one-click batch installer. One click and install and only stops to bug me if there's a error.
For a one click batch installer buy the pro key for titanium backup. That lets you skip the confirm screens.

Also Rom Toolbox by jrummy. Batch backup / restore with a TON of other features. Everything from file manager with root permissions, build prop editor, performance tweaks, font and battery icon changer, CM7 theme downloader, and so on. Great tool and I think it's like 3 or 4 bucks, last I checked.

Thanks, I figured out that titanium can do it, I had never mucked much with it. I have the free version of ROM tool box, I'll have to look at it a little closer as well. So much to do, so little time and energy.
Good old double posting. Anyhow, so one down one to go. I would at least like an mp3 to ogg app. I tried to convert some on my own and the files when played with any normal audio player have sound but when I put them in the ringtone and notification directory and restarted the files actually didn't play.

Not an app but i know there's website you can go to, upload the mp3, and download the ogg. Could do that on your phone.

I tried that. I'm going to just post in the general section, hit more people. There's something going on here that's being missed otherwise the files would just work.

Yeah if they're not working altogether then it could be something else. I've used the sites to convert to ogg and then I copy over to the system folders audio with ES Explorer. Works just fine for me.

Ok, so my buddy had an app downloaded from the google play store. back when the S4 Mini was newish. He had some kind of photo/file locker app which all i can tell you is it made a folder on the internal storage simply called "Locker" and all the encrypted files that were locked with that app were in there but of course un-readable because that are apparently actually encrypted to some extent. the phone went overboard in the salt water, couldnt be repaired but i managed to get it running enough to pull the "locker" folder with all the locked data off the storage. He doesnt remember the name of the app used and no longer has the google account to look at his download history to find it. but the icon was blue-ish and it created a folder called "locker" on the storage. he entered his passcode on a dialpad looking menu and boom, his locked files showed up. but thats all i know about it. hes trying to get that data readable again, and changing the extension to jpeg or jpg or png didnt work. just wondering if anyone here may have some sugguestions of apps to try to get these files readable again, if i could find the exact program used my plan was to install it on his new phone. set a password and lock a random picture so this way the program would created all the directories or whatever it needed, and i can copy the recovered files from the old phone and copy them into the new phone in the appropriate directory, and hopefully unlock those files. sorry if im jumping around alot. so im trying to find a way to make these files readable again is the end goal. ive tried for days to get them unlocked. and if anyone can help me they are on these forums. Any help ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I uploaded one of the smaller files which should be the image and one of the larger ones which should be the video. both just say there are no previews available when i try and open either of them.
If the files were encrypted then no matter which app you use, you won't be able to open them. You need to decrypt them first. To decrypt them you need the password they were encrypted with and the encrypting/decrypting algorithm (provided by the locker app). I would try to find the app (and copy the files to its folder), or try to decrypt it using various decrypting algorithms, provided the app uses a standard well-known one.

Hello.
I m using LG F70 (F370 or D-315).
And I have an issue that has been bothered me since I bought this device.
I tried to disable camera shutter sound in my phone.
Here are the methods I ve tried so far,
: 1. I replaced .ogg files in camera.apk with ogg files with no sound and replaced the modified camera.apk in SYSTEM\PRIVATE APP folder. I didn't forget to give 644 permission, but it didnt work. So I tried re-installing it as well. but it is still making horrible shutter noise. I didn't understand the situation. I inspected the apk file again and the ogg files were staying modified. I searched in many keywords to find hidden files using Root Explorer. But I couldnt find a worthy:crying:
2. I replaced another ogg shutter sound files that are located in the SYSTEM\MEDIA\AUDIO\UI
. But it didn't work, either:crying:
3. I looked for camera profiles in build.prof file but there no seems such profile exist.
I know that there were such profile that I could change "true" to "false" to change its function in another devices, but it doesnt exist anymore in this new device.:crying:
I ve already got tired to find out how to fix this issue.'
And now I 'm begging you for some tips that hits the nail on the head.
Thank you for reading.
