Samsung Galaxy S in Bose Sounddock - Galaxy S I9000 Accessories

Just to let you know.....
For my iPod I bought (years ago) a Bose Sounddock.
Problem with that dock it is only for Apple iPod of iPhone.
Now look what i bought ...... a cable that i can plugin into the sounddock and the other end into my Samsung Galaxy S. Really nice.
Works perfect and the Voodoo Control app from supercurio is also superb on this thing! With an app called TuneIn Radio I now listen all day long to streaming radio from around the world.

Hmmm... you are still going to lose some quality though since you are now using a 3.5 mm connector. Why not just stick with the iPod?

To be honest, the quality is really ok.
And the iPod i have is an old one. Can not stream music from online radio stations. And since i have the SGS i thought to give it a try.
Nice article for DIY kinda people can be found here.

haha this is pretty awesome. nice and portable
I've though about getting one of these.
http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/portable-audio-video/c458/
I doubt it would sound as nice as the X-Mini, but it would at least allow me to have a speaker pointed towards me while still being able to have my phone face up and be able to control it.
I also though about getting two of those speakers and one of these as well.
http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/speakers/headsets/abf9/
Then make two custom cable separating out the left and right channels and I could have truly stereo sound in a small key chain friendly package.

the second link is just a splitter, you'd end up with MONO still. You want one of these http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102691
Looks pretty cool but too bad it doesn't have bluetooth.
Yeah that's the only downfall. But I love the audio. It's unbelievable.

It would come across as mono if I just plugged the speakers right into the splitter. My idea would be to make two custom cable, one only connecting the right channel and the other only connecting the left channel. I would use some wire with white insulation, find a pair of white adapter and solder them up myself. I may be overkill, but I enjoy doing that kind of stuff, and it would all match and be much more aesthetic.
Amazing. I love it. Any links on deals on this product? Thank you for the find. I've been looking for something like this
I'm assuming your talking about the X-Mini. If so, then check out Thinkgeek, they have all kinds of stuff like that. I'm sure if you do some searching, you could find it cheaper, but I like using Thinkgeek when I can cause they are well know and respected and won't disappear tomorrow like some of these fly-by-night ebay dealers (i.e. Replace/refund if not satisfied or defective)
Oh, and just though I'd add, I love the link in your signature.
Thanks for the video.
Seems to be better than any portable speakers i've seen.

Looks like there is a MAX version too that looks cool - stereo sound
search for this: X-Mini MAX II
All those that want bluetooth with it - I have BT headphone with a 3.5mm jack so you can use your own choice of headphone in them, the headphones can always be swapped for any other devices with a line in like these speakers.
Yes the max is pretty good too... I just like how the X-mini II looks like, the max looks kinda ugly IMO but its all bout personal preference, (besides the stereo of course) although, I heard there is a way to make the X-mini II stereo... Ill research more then get back to you guys bout it.

so wait... the x-mini MAX 2 is an upgraded version of x-mini? i dont really like the way the two speakers split i like the x-mini more.
Kinda, its a newer version. But I wouldn't call it an upgrade, I still like the xmini II, The one you see in the video is X-mini II, the capsule is the X-mini max II. The X-mini 1st version wasn't that great.

External Speakers for G2

Looking at buying a set of external speakers to play Pandora on with my G2. I don't want anything that's compatible with iPods, because I don't need that stupid dock connector. Hopefully I can get something that's less than $100, has great sound, and connects to the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the G2.
Any suggestions?
Its not the prettiest, but any pair of computer speakers will do the job for cheap. I use an old 2.1 Logitech system that has a sub and the sound is great!
Thinkgeek.com has a decent protable speaker setup. There is also a Sony branded tube speaker that is supposed to be good also. Seen em on ebay.

Agreed. I believe you can get a decent set of Comp speakers at Walmart. If not there definitely Frys.
I'm currently using an older pair of computer speakers that has a sub-woofer and it works great. However, it's not the prettiest thing to look at, nor is it even remotely portable in the event I want to take them somewhere with me. Thanks so far for the suggestions, if I find something that works well I'll share it with everyone here.
http://www.usa.philips.com/c/mp3-player-accessories/universal-sba1600_37/prd/en/
this may not be what you are looking for but I have this in my backpack at all times. I use it maybe once every 2 or 3 days... Sucker it pretty loud and lasts a long time. Had it for about a year now, I'm sure you could find one on ebay for 10 bucks.
I couldn't pass up this opportunity. For anyone looking at this at a future date (considering the date of this topic already), looking for a top-notch quality external speaker for the G2 (or any other Android device at that) the X-Mini II Capsule Speaker has served me well. It provides more sound than you'd ever be able to get out of the phone, and it's really worth the money you spend on it compared to some of the other suggestions listed (such as computer speakers, which wouldn't be practical).
I reccomend the Supertooth disco --> http://www.supertooth.net/EN/DISCO/#page=page-1 It has great sound and the battery can last up to 10 hours if you let it play on medium sound. Its worth the money the sound is great and its easy to bring with you if you're going to some friends for example.

I would have to Second the X-mini 2's the sound you get from them is superb and the ability to buddy jack them is a feature that is often missed on many models
Just heard one of those new Bluetooth speakers they carry at best buy and they sound amazing. Much better than a boombox even lol. Anyways they run for about 50 bucks and they have their own rechargeable battery built in. They use micro USB to charge to so you can use the same setup you already have. I'm gonna get one you have to hear them to believe it.
bluetooth/minijack jambox set, do the work greatly.
it also have mic for conference mode.
tested with my rom, works perfectly

Good bluetooth headphones?

Anyone know of any high quality bluetooth headphones with a mic? They would have to be the in ear kind. I'm willing to spend up to 200. I've been searching around and their really aren't that many to choose from. I work in security and most of the time I'm baby sitting empty buildings so they would have to be descret enough not to be noticed on the camera's if anyone choose to review them. Taking all suggestions. Bluetooth is kinda my last resort.. I really don't want to part with my CM7. Lol

Have you looked into these? They got crazy good reviews when they released. Sweatproof, small, secure.
I've wanted a pair since they dropped but still have my Moto S9's so I can't justify it. I wish those damn things would break already!

Yeah, I've read a lot of good things about those. I also had the Moto s9's Hd and not. Hd's were much better but still sucked. SOOO MUCH STATIC. whenever the music would go down or change songs I would hate myself because it sounded terrible. I convinced myself that I needed them because I felt like my wire got stuck everywhere. Anyway, long story short got myself these. Never looked back. The only problem I forsee is they are sound proof.

The i's pause button will work.. play sometimes. It will work with the last music player app you add.. it's weird. I know. If you have any questions pm me.
Edit: Both of my motorola's broke in one way or another. One the speaker ripped out because I dropped it, and the other.. just stopped working? Idk.. I had to send it in for something and they sent me a new one... the HD set.

OK, so I'm watching a movie -through Infuse- via the HDMI port and I'm receiving a call (on Infuse)
Would I be able to take the call and leave the rest of the family enjoying the movie?
I'm asking this because in theory Android can/could drive two different sound (one through HDMI, another through my bluetooth headset/handsfree for calls), but is this possible IN PRACTICE?
Has anyone tried that?
I'm sorry for the question, but I do not own a BT headset and depending on the answer to the above I will decide on buying it/that. I have no qualms installing custom roms if need be...

bluetooth headphones
I have the jaybird JP3MB bluetooth headphones. I think they are superb. I can tell you when listening to music taking a call will pause the music and it resumes upon hangup. I would think movies might do the same thing.
Not In-ear but over the ear...
I have the Arctic P311 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones, paid $34 for them locally (via Amazon). They sound great flat and even better with some EQ. I would like to see/hear the difference between them and these other seemingly overpriced Bluetooth headphones.
I was going to purchase the Nokia BT headphones but saw these and at $34 what risk is there???
Not disappointed at all!
Sure they might not sound as great as ones plugged directly into the phone, but they don't sound bad at all and more than acceptable especially with all the stuff I've heard about Bluetooth SQ.
I originally bought these for my Pantech Link which has no phone output. You can buy a special connector that goes into where you make the connection to charge the phone and for data connection as well.
I highly recommend the Plantronics Backbeat 903+. I've had them for a few months, and use them whenever working out. The call/mic quality is pretty good, as is the music/speaker quality. My only complaint would be that it's a little flat on the bass end; other than that, I really like them.
My friend tried them out once, and bought a pair the same day. His, however, stopped working after a couple runs on the treadmill. He thinks it's because he sweats a lot and they got wet. Plantronics replaced them free of charge and he never had the same issue again.
There are actually a newer version of them out now, called the Backbeat Go. I haven't tried them, so I have no idea how they sound or feel. They seem like they'd be more comfortable to wear, especially when running or working out.
i can vouch for the first reply; i got a pair of jaybird jf3's and they work amazingly well. pricey, but worth it

Bluetooth to Stereo adapter

So the headphone jack on my Sensation has been less then pleasant lately. Reading up about it, it seems its a common hardware problem. Seeing as its a common problem, I feel sensing my phone in is going to be a temporary fix as it could happen again. I'll also be without a phone for sometime.
I was thinking about getting a Bluetooth to stereo adapter. I looked up a bit and found one called the Clipper by Jabra.
http://www.jabra.com/products/bluetooth/jabra_clipper/jabra_clipper
I'm looking for something like this, however the reviews on Amazon arent promising.
Does anyone know of an alternative to the Clipper that works well?

Sony Ericsson MW600 is a gem. Have this since my Nexus One days. Like the clipper you can use pretty much any headphones/in ear earbuds/ you want. And the unit is also a FM radio as well. Track listing I think works now too. Not 100%.

If you don't mind me asking, do you use it for music very frequently, and how is the sound quality/loudness? I plan on using this primarily for music.

(Headphones) Good finding that I want to share with you...

Yep, as the title says, I found a good pair of headphones with mic that you may like, it's nothing new, but nothing that I could find in the Nexus 4 forum either...
Here it is! "Sony MDR-ZX300AP/L" made specifically for Android phones (according to Sony's website).
Weird side note: they are OMTP (according to Sony chat representative), and AFAIK, Nexus 4 is CTIA, so I decided to grab a CTIA<-->OMTP adapter, which only inverts the 2 cables that differ from CTIA/OMTP, funny thing is, when I connected the headphones with the adapter, they worked perfectly (also tested the mic), then I decided to give it a try without the adapter... guess what... they worked too (plus mic)! WTF they were not supposed to work....
Anyway, I decided to share this finding to you, I have to specify that mine is the latest revision (AFAIK) from Nexus 4 *White*, so I'm totally clueless if they changed something in the hardware to make them compatible with both CTIA/OMTP...
I also paired the headphones with a computer adapter, so now I have a computer headset (mic works too!) "StarTech MUYHSFMM 3.5mm 4 Pin to 2x3 Pin 3.5mm Headset Splitter Adapter - F/M"
Final notes, mic quality is 4 out of 5, not the best, not bad, there are other color(s) available, definitely sturdy and yet comfortable pair of headphones, build quality totally explains the price (it can be either good or bad, depends of your point of view, very good IMHO)...
CAN'T POST PICTURES (YET!), SORRY

You can consider yourself an audiophile if you start spending more than $100dlls on headsets/accessories to listen music... I'm not saying it is negative!, just pointing out that there is certain price threshold where people with an educated ear need something better than the average $30-$50 headsets... (audiophiles )
For mere mortals such as me... this headset is very good, I'm still able to distinguish a weak spot in a range of frequency but I'm ok with that, bass is also a little weak for my taste but there is no microphone version of the XtraBass variant of this headset...
Talking about headsets, it surprised me to find out how other people prefer/user other more expensive headphones in their cellphones, poor DAC cannot even power such a high impedance! they need a FiOS amplifier to power them up... gosh... talking about obsessions...
There is a good reason of why many headsets/headphones have weak spots or poor bass, and this is obviously because they were designed to power up from weak sources (such as your cellphone's DAC), of course newer cellphones have improved a lot in this department allowing users to throw higher balls on the park (S4 by example)...

LOL, I am no audiophile. I just like my music to be clear and hit bass nice and crisp. But I do have the V-Moda M100's in my collection lol. I use that on my N4 mostly, but I use the M100s on my N7 and laptop at home.
When I want in ears, my go to ones used to be the Sol Republic Amps HD. Great headphones for the price and are tangle free. I just got some Munitio NINES 9mm in ears and the bass just blows me away. I am not a bass heavy listener, so I had to lower the volume on a lot of my devices lol. I gave my wife the Shure SE215 clears for a flight recently and she thanked me because she needed them when on a flight where there were a bunch of minors on a flight without parents and of course were loud. The lady next to her asked if how she could deal with all the noise and my wife said...what noise? I had my headsets in. They were clear so you can hardly see them if you aren't looking so that is a plus lol.
Bottom line, there are lower end headphones like the google ones, or sony ones that do the deed well on its own. I am not saying they shouldn't be used, far be it. I say try it and if you are happy, then that's all that matters right?
