Suggestions on a good Google Docs app?
I never realized how many things I have hanging out in the cloud until I logged in a while ago.

Your best bet is simply going to be utilizing your browser on the phone. They have full editing available from the android platform via webkit.
Another option (That I haven't tried) Is "GDocs". People say its barebones, but very good at what it needs to do.
Hi
Does anyone else have a problem with the Google books app on Galaxy Tab? Specifically with the latest book from Dan Brown - The Lost Symbol.
Edit: just confirmed - will all the books I have downloaded, paid and free one's.
It misses the last (few) pages/lines of each chapter. Very, very annoying.
The same book appears just fine on my Galaxy Vibrant device - I see all the pages of each chapter.
I have re-installed the app, removed and re-added the books to my device - no difference. On the Galaxy Tab, it keeps on missing the last few pages of each chapter.
I even opened an issue with Google-books, days ago, and did not get any response pack.
Any Ideas?
Thanks
I noticed that in Wind in the Willows, but there were one or two others where it did not happen. If I switched to original pages, they text was there. I'm not sure if the paid ones have the scanned pages though, as I haven't bought any yet.
can post screenshots and version number of the books app?
Wind in the Willows is a free download on eBooks. It repros with every version of Books with flowing text (original scanned version lets you finish each chapter). So you have one example you can make your own screenshots of the bug with freely. Arthur Machen's Great God Pan is a second free book with the bug.
Google confirmed this bug
I did look and found that Google has confirmed this to be a bug with the ebook reader on the Android - 'their techs are working on this'
Hope google fixes this, excessively annoying....
fyi, I can confirm that this problem occurs even on paid books
Yep. . . .
I returned all my Google books for a refund and went back to Kindle app. . .
Until Google fix it.
It is also confirmed to be only Tab related, since the tab -failing books are just fine on the Viibrant.
Hi Guys,
So I got my SGT 7" Sprint unlocked yesterday. So far, I love it. The screen is gorgeous, and I really like its feel in my hand. Anyway, I have a 10 day trip coming up and I want to see if I can replace my laptop with the SGT for this period. Now here are the things that I generally would use during my trip:
1. Occasional TV episode/movie (all of which I have already, no Netflix/movie downloads required)
2. Some music
3. Facebook/Gmail/College Email (already set up on Email)
4. General browsing (some youtube, forums, looking up places to go in the city)
5. Google Maps
Seeing what I need, which apps would you guys suggest? I am guessing a media app, but I haven't tried the stock media app yet. Would I have to convert stuff for the SGT to play properly? Is there any way I can download the maps on Google Maps and store them locally so that I won't need 3G services if I don't have wifi?
Any help is very much appreciated. Also, I haven't rooted my Tab yet, but will do it in a day or two once I get the hang of it.

1. Stock player works fine for most formats, You could also try these
2. Stock Music player works fine or you could try these
3. Official facebook app/stock email client
4. Stock browser, Firefox, Dolphin HD 5 / Official Youtube App
5. Locus Maps.
You shouldn't need to convert any videos etc as they should play fine, even HD. However if you wanted to save space you could downsample them to reduce size.
To root your device use z4root or superoneclick. Also check out teh sticky threads in teh dev section. DO NOT post topics there though, if you have questions etc go to questions section or reply to a topic in dev.

1. Moboplayer free from the market. plays most video format.
2. if it's just some music, stock music works fine. if you listen to music frequently through your headphones, i recommend poweramp cos there are lots of settings you can play with. NOT free.
3. default facebook app works fine. built in email app is good. i use it for my school exchange email.
4. if you're on gingerbread, stock browser is fine but the browser can't download certain format of files, for example .rar files. if not you can try Opera Mobile (free). it's really smooth.
5. maps... i use google maps..
these are some of the apps i use and i highly recommend them. all are free except poweramp.
Quick office, you can sync it to google docs, thats if you need to create/read/edit documents, it can also make power point presentaitons
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I just rooted my tab and will give all the apps a try. TheATHEIST, does Locus maps allow map downloads?
For movies and videos set browser to desktop and check out ::
letmewatchthis.com
When you watch videos there from tab use the megavideo link. It works flawlessly for me.

The latest version of google maps lets you store maps in a cache, to use without a data connection.
To take advantage of this, move the map around the area you want to visit. Zoom in and out, follow the roads, etc. The maps are stored and you can use google maps with no data connection.

Hi,
I need some way of getting public transit routes from Google Maps. There used to be a bunch of apps that supported this (gMaps, PublicTransit, PublicTransport), but lately it seems that they've all been pulled off the Marketplace for some reason. And trying to access Google Maps directly using IE, fails as well.
Would appreciate any help; my phone is pretty much useless for me without this.
Thanks.

If you put the phone's browser in "Desktop" mode, it may be possible to use the Google site. It'll be... awkward, though. Similarly, Bing Maps (the website, but not the built-in app for some reason) also offers directions by transit, and with a bit of effort can be accessed using the phone's browser.
If you just want to look up routes and route planners, that information is probably available from the transit agency directly. If you want a bus-stop finder and arrival time info, use the OneBusAway app (or site, but the app is very well-made).
Up until yesterday and even with the new update to chrome beta refuses to open certain Mobil sites like m.YouTube.com
If I type the mobile version of m.YouTube.com and hit enter it will bring me to the full site. Very frustrating.
Even if I search for something in the search bar it brings me to the full google site and not the mobile version of google search.
I do not have desktop viewing enabled . I can not figure this out but its driving me crazy. I've unistallrd multiply times. Help me please!
works fine for me
