In my case i can use single press for pause/play...
however I would like to be able to redial the last number when using wired headset on my Desire S.
can anyone suggest how to do this?
49 views and no-one knows?
is it possible to be done at all?
I've never heard of a wired headset that can do this, much less one that comes packaged with your phone.
Yes, I think it's safe to say that you can't do it. You're asking too much from a headset that only has one button.
but usually the BT headset have this function...why the wired would not do it?

I don't know if it makes any difference, but I am actually using a blackberry headset.
actualy, using stock eu rom as default i found when i was in music player press once = pause, press twice = redial last number.
I had to install headset tool to change press twice to next track.
I had the same issue with headset of my wife, she have wildfire. But when I tried desire s headset it works ok. I think problem is 3.5 connector.

There is an app in market for it. You can find via search "headset" in market.

I am just wondering what Bluetooth headphone you guys use on inspire 4G?
I am choosing between Plantronics Voyager PRO and Motorola Oasis, but dont know what I really want.
Plantronics....they just work!
I am using a Plantronics 245 which is a very inexpensive headset. I think I payed about $34 with taxes. I do not have any issues with it. Headsets are like cars - you can go from very cheap to very expensive and everywhere in between. - Glenn

I use the blueant Q2 with the motospeak app from the market ... Its by far the loudest bluetooth i have ever owned.... You can use motospeak with any bluetooth, but there is a trick. First go buy or borrow a motorola finiti (volume on it sucks btw) bluetooth, pair it with phone, download motospeak app from the market. Now for the important part DO NOT UNPAIR the finiti from your phone, as long as it is paired with the phone the motospeak app will work with any bluetooth. Now you can go trade in the motorola finiti for any bluetooth you like.

Not between the two you said but I would say get the Jawbone ICON
They have been the best I have used.
They are selling the Jawbone 2 for 10 bucks at dailysteals. Can't post link.
Don't work for them or anything, I heard good things about the headset and ordered one. Though you guys might like it. Add about $5 to ship though.
Jawbone Icon. Love it. I have owned two. Best earpiece out there.

How does noise/wind cancellation on recent bluetooth device? I remeber when I had really old moto bt headphone, HS850, my friend hardly heard me when I was running outside. After that, I did use any bt headphone.

The Icon comes with 5 or 6 different pieces to fit your ear. If it falls off easily then your just using the wrong piece. It also allows you to wear it with or without the over the ear hook.
I use an Icon for phone calls and a Plaintronics Backbeat for music and the occasional call. Both headsets are good in high wind situations. The Icon even works pretty good during a storm, though I don't recommend it (I've killed so many headsets that way).
I have the Plantronics Voyager Pro + and I got it brand new on eBay for 56 dollars. People need to use eBay more. -.- paying retail for everything... blasphemy

I got an Icon from Amazon eventually, its not that expensive, only $50. its small, lightweight, pretty good, except it doesnt have caller ID function offered by new Jawbone ERA.
I've got a jawbone ICON, love it. Worth way more than the $50 I paid on Amazon. I can have a conversation going down the highway with the windows in my truck with a straight piped diesel engine half down and still hear.
It does caller ID, just doesn't read the name, just the number.

Inspire 4G + Plantronics 903+
I've been using Inspire 4G paired with Plantronics 903+ headphone, mostly to listen stereo music. I'm having a lot of connection problems: sometimes the sound stops for less than a second and then continues (several times per minute), and in the worst case the connection just drops completly and I'm forced to pair the devices again.
I read some posts in the web warning about the same issues, but I couldn't find any solution for this. I even don't really know if the problem is the headphone or the phone itself.
Does anybody know a workarround to solve this? Thanks!
I use the Motorola H720 for my Inspire and for Skype. I prefer the ear loop to the in ear style for comfort during long use. It's relatively cheap and I can get almost 8 full hours of talk time. And it has proven to be very durable.
i cant transmit on my tb when its plugged in to my aux port in my car. i can hear just fine through the car speakers.
i did a xda search and Google search, cant find solution.
checked sound settings and tried different kernel.
can i get an assist?
CM 7 1.4.
Elaborate on transmit? Do you mean it won't pick up on your voice?
i can hear the person i am calling but they cant hear me. sorry, im in the navy and use the naby lingo
CM 7 1.4.
well, ehen it's plugged in through the aux it's basically the same as plugging in headphones... just instead of it going through headphones, it goes through your car stereo. basically, it's only for audio out from the phone. it will not pick up your voice.

Works like a champ. I have a really good set of headphones I listen to music and audiobooks on. They're very durable and sound pretty good. First set I've had that lasted me more than 4-6 weeks. No inline microphone. Now I can just use the on-board mic.

The problem has something to do with your headphones. Jacks can be loose and the phone really doesn't like headphones that doesn't have the extra band on the plug for the mic.
My 2 suggestions are to either use headphones with a mic or install "Headset Blocker" by Roadkill from the Market. It is free and will block those signals telling your music to fast forward or skip to the next track.
I will take a look onto that... I am useing skullcandies and know its not them Haha but the have the second band I will try the app and report back

Well they don't have a mic do they? No you don't have the separate band for a mic.
Sorry about that I misread you saying extra band for a Mic -.- my apologies no they don't have a mic and neither does the male to male cable that I use in the car.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
Whether it is a software or a hardware issue, it has always been a issue with the inspire and many other phones.
It is the mic band on your headset plug that is used to switch tracks or fast-forward songs on your phone. When using earphones that connection is now bridged with the ground connection already. Although the phone is supposed to detect headset/ headphones it does it poorly sometimes. So it could be the poor software or simple static bounces due to a loose jack that is causing this to happen.
Using headphones with a mic will isolate this connection and should stop the problem. You could pick up a mic adapter from ebay or any electronics shop that should do the trick too. Or simply use that app mentioned and it will turn the ability off to switch tracks or fast-forward. Or you could use a different music app that doesn't support that feature.
Well I tried it earlier with my headphones and didn't have a problem I also used car mode then went to my music when I was in the car yesterday and it worked so ill just keep the app mentioned always on thank-you guys so much

Hello,
I just switched over to the HTC One S T-Mo version from the GS2. Phone is great has its pluses and minuses over the GS2 however I am having one little issue with my device.
Whenever I try to use audio out into my car stereo it does not work it plays through the phone speaker. I was wondering if there was a setting for that on the phone? I looked on everything option I could think of. At first I thought it was the cable, but I tested it on my friends GS2 and my Ipod as well and still works flawlessly. Then I thought it was the app( Google play) but I also tried with pandora and youtube and still no dice.
I used the search on here but came out empty, just wondering if you guys knew anything about this?
P.S. I tried two HTC ONE S's already both same thing.
Thank You
Not really and answer, but I tried using mine as well through aux input in my car, and same issue. I got a replacement from T-Mobile because the tech at the help desk said it shouldn't do that. I've tried 2 different cables in 2 different cars and same result. Sound through One S speaker. Really annoying. I had the Sensation which worked fine but not sure why this phone will play through the headphones but not through car speakers.

I agree that's how it should work. When I have my head phones in, I get sound through the head phones, but when I use it through my car stereo(I've tried 2 cars, 2 different cables) the sound comes through the one s speaker not the car speakers. All my other phones have worked the right way but this continues to play through phone speaker. Weird. This is my 2nd one s. I returned the 1st because of this very issue. Thank you.

Auxiliary Mode
My car stereo has an AUX mode that I have to manually switch it to when I want to play music from my phone through my car speakers. I noticed that some devices will switch my stereo into that mode, where as my One S will not. I suggest that you check and see if there is a way to manually enter this AUX mode from the stereo as that may be something that you never noticed because its been doing it for you this whole time.
Thank you. I have manually put it into aux mode and still one s speaker. I am going to try it in my Toyota today and see if it works. Hopefully not 0 for 3. I just wasn't sure if there was a setting on the one S I'm missing. Just seems weird that it's my 2nd one s and 2 different cars and 2 different wires.

Try SoundAbout from the market. While it's not an official fix it should get your desired result.
If it works with headphones then I don't think your phone is the problem, it just doesn't make any sense. Set the radio to AUX, start the music on the phone and plug it while its playing, see if that works. I am at a loss.
I did that as well,I could hear the static "pop" through the car speakers when I plug in the aux jack, but it just continues to play through the phone speaker on all 3 cars. Thank you.

That sounds like BS, I have a cable that I made myself and it works just fine.
I'm loving this phone and all? But it's not without some pretty huge flaws. And this is coming from a guy who managed to survive 2 years carrying a Tilt 2.
Anyway, I digress...
My latest issue (actually my earliest but I've been searching unsuccessfully for a solution for a while now) is that when my phone is paired with a headset, which is pretty much all the time, and I answer a call with the HANDset, the call gets sent to the HEADset. Why would they do it that way?!
It makes no sense whatsoever. If my handset is in my hand and I answer the call with the screen button, send the call to my handset. If I wanted it to my headset, don't ya think I would have hit the button on the headset?
Or maybe there's a setting for this that I'm missing somewhere. If that's the case, I hope someone sets me straight here.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one. You're only "using" a headset when you choose to by clicking on the call answer button. That's why they have 'em.
I've been using Bluetooth headsets for 10 years now and this is the first one I've encountered that functions like this.

No way man... Sony Erricsson T-616 - my first BT phone, then a T-630, then the OG Moto RAZR, then the amazing HTC Cingular 3125, then I can't remember what, and then something else I can't remember... And then the Tilt 2, and now...? This is the first phone I've ever used that if you answer the call on the handset, sends it to the headset.
Shouldn't it go where you answer it? If my headset is in reach, great, I'll choose to answer it there. But if not, and just my phone is handy, wouldn't it make more sense to keep the call on the handset? I mean, to me that's just obvious.

I agree something is bugged with the bluetooth stack.
On my car SYNC will use the car speakers like is suppose to, but it wont use the vehicle built in mic it will use the the phone one. So i have to have the phone close to me with the mic pointer towards my mouth so people can hear me.
I dunno, it makes sense to me that if you have a headset PAIRED and ON that answering a call it would go to your headset. If you don't want it to go to your headset, I dunno man, maybe turn it off? If I had a bluetooth headset and it was paired and on I know I would want it to go to the the headset when I answered the phone but that's just me, I guess I'm just crazy like that.
I think it makes perfect sense. Imagine chilling at work, little office environment, BT speakers....and suddenly those speakers are broadcasting a phone conversation.
I'm with the OP on this, never had a phone behave that way. Call was always sent to which device answered it. Always. Or two phones paired to the same BT headset. I've done that before. Anyway, several reasons for it to be routed where it's answered.
And h/t to the OP for the 3125 reference. Solid little phone!

I had Tilt2, use bt all the time, and I'm pretty sure it went to the headset when answering. Plantronics Voyager Pro HD might be worth looking into. It automatically sends the audio back to the handset when you take it off your ear, and sends it back when you put it on.
In the dialer after you have answered you can change it back to the internal handset speaker quickly using the speakerphone button which now turned into a Bluetooth symbol and changing the audio back to the phone.
